Great food and friendly people what more could you ask. If you are looking for a quick burger this is the place in Escalante. Shakes are awesome too. read more

Very popular place. I got a chocolate malt which was very yummy. Also got a plain hamburger and fries. Two big groups before us but we still got our food quickly. read more

Holy moly. I hadn't had a truly delicious chicken fried steak sandwich since the early 90s, so I was thrilled to find one here at Nemo's! It was absolute perfection in an unexpected place as we traveled between national parks. My husband enjoyed the fish n' chips and we both liked fry sauce (not common in our neck of the woods) a little too much. I was slightly surprised at the prices when we first pulled up to this unassuming, super casual roadside joint - but once we got our lunch, I recognized this place is real quality food and nothing less. Faster than expected too. If you think it seems on the higher side just close your eyes & imagine it's a trendy little cafe and you will realize it's a steal! read more

These people know their way around a deep fryer! Try a variety of sides, chips, fries and onion rings, all done right! Sandwiches are okay. Bread wasn't fresh. Malts were just okay also, not properly mixed IMO. read more

The young lady working there seemed to have better things to do than service us. Vanilla shake was good. Coffee shake was not good. Service was poorer than average. read more

What a crazy little place. This was the only restaurant option in or around Escalante in early January - as near as we could tell. This is a little shack on the side of the road that offers an eclectic mix of food - standard burgers alongside Mexican and Chineseish offerings depending on the day of the week. The Chinese fare is impressionistic at best - fried meat, an American-Chinese inspired sauce, and rice. It's acceptable and not disappointing given the location and the establishment type. Ordering and service is through a window. Seating is outside. None of the shakes mentioned in other reviews were apparent - perhaps because we were there in the winter. read more

Food is good, one of the cashiers is terrible. Kinda rude. No thank you. If this is a tourist town. Why is the customer service terrible at a good burger joint? Doesn't make sense. Coach her to be better. Or let her go. Don't bring personable life problems to work. read more

The burger was good, but it wasn't very big for the price. The 'grilled chicken breast' sandwich was not grilled chicken breast, but a mechanically separated chicken patty instead. For $8.50, I was not pleased. The food isn't bad, but overpriced. The burgers are the sizes of McDonalds $1 burgers, but cost $9. The shake was good, but again, not worth the money. read more

Awesome little pitstop. Good food and good service. Got the College burger and Grasshopper shake (not real grasshopper).

They were out of all but two ice cream flavors. The shake was the worst shake I've ever had. Ice cream was really icy and overall a really poor quality. read more

Amazing food from this adorable little burger stand. Great customer service, prompt preparation and they even offered bacon icecreams for our pups. A definite stop for future visits! read more

Great stuff, especially after enjoying the HIGHLY under-rated drive through Grand Escalante. Loved every bite, just wished I tried the buffalo burger. Highly recommend... read more

Eaten here on several recent trips to Escalante. Typical "Dairy Queen" type food and ice cream offerings. Food always tastes good with quick service. My go-to food choice in the Escalante area. read more

We were in town for a week and we stopped for ice cream several times. Loved their unique combination of ice cream. Very friendly staff too! They even took our pictures for us! I definitely recommend this place for ice cream! read more

We stopped by Nemos for ice cream cones for the granddaughter. Service was fast, soft serve was good. Sat at the outside picnic tables in the shade to eat. I will go back when I'm in town. read more

We had burgers, a veggie burger, fries and a shake. Everyone agreed it was just ok. We wouldn't stop there again

Alright so im here on the road and decided to grab a bite... but everything is closed accept for nemo's it looks very old but has a lot of character! I ordered a burger... it was the best burger I've ever had! It came out fast and was served with fries. The fries were really salty and came with fry sauce (a mix of mayo and ketchup). There is no indoor seating, instead they have outdoor picnic tables. All in all it was a very nice experience and gives you a small taste of a very cute town read more

We came to Nemo's after hiking in the slot canyons a few years ago. My wife and I still long to go back for the food. The food is so so tasty and the shakes were fantastic. We weren't very hungry when we ate there but the food was so tasty we ended up ordering more. Just discovered the name of this place after looking at list of unique Utah restaurants. read more

A family run and staffed business selling standard American fare, cooked well and passed through the serving hatch with a warm smile. Seating is outside and rustic, on eclectic picnic benches. You can pay double in all the other restaurants available and experience half the taste. I've tried all of the competition. I only bothered reviewing Nemo's. A liquor license would force me to petition yelp for that 6th star option, but this is Utah. Enjoy people watching and keep an eye out for the Desert Doctor. You can finish an ice cream in about three sightings of this bike riding local eccentric. read more

The food was great. Hubby had jalapeño and jack pepper burger , he loved it, tasty and yummy. I had fried breast chicken sandwich, was really good with that old fashioned fry sauce, hmmmm yummy. Both basket came with fries. Thanks Nemo's read more

Friendly dudes, good food. They even gave a puppy dog an ice cream cone (which was gone in seconds). Can't wait to get back down to Escalante to backpack and have a burger! This is the place! read more

A true diamond in the rugged rough desert of Escalante! It takes a moment to get your food, but it is definitely worth every second! The burgers are grilled to perfection and the sweet potato crinkle fries are a delectable addition. read more

Some of my favorite burgers anywhere. Had one last year en route to Bryce Canyon and wanted to make a trip back for more Nemo's, but my trip companion wasn't feeling the detour. Luckily, this year I made it back on a 1.5 hour detour just for more Nemo's! I like the jalapeño jack burger with sweet potato fries and a triple berry malt. read more

I wish we kept on driving. The wait to get our fast food was long - about 10 minutes. We ordered "small" shakes, but what arrived were large cups filled with soft serve ice cream and served with a spoon. No straw. Worse, the soft serve was piled about three-four inches above the rim of the cup (like an ice cream cone). Considering that it's Utah in June, it promptly melted and made a mess. A shake is supposed to be a drink. The food we ordered - chicken tenders and fries - was Ok. Not the best. Not the worst. I wish we had waited until Boulder to eat. read more

Cool little spot on the road- great burgers and shakes. Especially the thin mint shake! Tried the bison burger which was fantastic. Fries came with fry sauce which I'd never seen before- not sure you needed anything with their fries as they were perfect. Would definitely go back if we cross thru again! read more

Great food. Husband had the mushroom and swiss burger loads of mushrooms and very tasty. I had the spicey chicken strips with fries very good and not to spicey. Love the frys. They even gave our dog an ice cream. We were all happy. read more

Okay I get it, a holiday weekend you probably have 3 people total working the restaurant... But if wait times are long please let the customer know. Twenty seven minutes just to get our fountain drink and around thirty to get two burgers. I like to support local businesses but we were looking to get in and out fast. Then the burgers... If you're looking for dry burger patties on top of flavorless burgers - this is your spot. Next time I'll try the pizza place down the street read more

Delicious burgers after a day of hiking. Fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings are yummy. Great service. Recommended!

The sweet potatoes were excellent!!! The shake was also good. It was along wait but it was worth it!

It may have been we had just been backpacking for three days that made this place so magnificent, but this is exactly what I was looking for after 30 miles in the desert. I may have eat'n all the calories I burned hiking, but it did not matter. Not much of anything better in this small town. Fries were good. They have fry sauce. Shake was pretty decent but no vanilla ice cream :( got chocolate cause I had to have a shake after coyote gulch! Meat was a bit dry. Bread a little crusty... But all around this was good. I wish I'd tried the fish and chips or English chips. read more

We stayed in Escalante for 3 nights and had dinner one night at Nemo's. We didn't realize that they closed at 7 and we got there about 6:35 but we received wonderful service and the food was exactly what we ordered. Excellent! You must get ice cream for dessert - very good! read more

Excellent lunch! Wonderful food and service. Stopped by Nemo's on our way to Capitol Reef and they did not disappoint. The hamburgers & fries were amazing. My daughter ordered chicken fingers and they were amazing with the sweet potato fries. A must stop if you are in the area! read more

Super fast and super tasty food with friendly service. Stopped in on way from Bryce to Capitol Reef for a quick lunch: burgers, chicken fried steak, fish and chips, shakes. It all hit the spot! Would stop again. read more

We highly recommend this little hamburger stand in historic Escalante. Really good burgers and humongous soft-serve cones. We had the college burger (bacon cheeseburger) and the mushroom Swiss. Hand made, well seasoned and as tasty as you can get without using ground sirloin. Sat at the picnic tables under the trees and plotted our tour of the many historic homes in Escalante. He got a large cone and I got the small. Both were literally 6" tall---the difference is the size of the sugar cone at the base of the ice cream mountain. Lol. Really too much for one, maybe even for two. read more

The food was delicious! The American Burger was as big as the Grand Canyon. The sweet potato fries fantastic and the shake was incredible.

We only got ice cream so I can't offer advice on food, but their ice cream is homemade, rich and delicious. Their shakes are made with soft serve and are thick like a blizzard or concrete. Scooped I ce cream flavors change daily. read more

Basic drive-in burger. My wife and I had just come in from the canyons and needed something hot, greasy, and salty. Nothing came out hot...just warm. Bummer. It is what it is, which is a small town drive through. Nothing wrong with that, just not my cup of tea. read more

If you have never stopped at one of these joints to grab an ice cream, a greasy burger or fries that you dip in the bizzare fry sauce that is unique to Utah, you are missing out. There is something magic about sitting under the shade tree in a small town eating soft serve ice-cream from a cone taller than your head, watching cars drive down main street. Take your time, enjoy the cool breeze, talk with friends, eavesdrop on a group of Norwegian bikers that are touring across the west on rented Harleys. The food will be slightly greasy, it will take longer than McDonalds and will be more expensive than you think it should be but guess what.... it is made by very young kids that are probably working their first job, in a place that is so remote that food costs are ridiculous and probably not super healthy. Enjoy that you have escaped the jungle of civilization, talk to strangers, and enjoy the beauty of Escalante. I have been coming here for almost 50 years... I wish they still had orange sherbet soft serve but other than that, I wouldnt change a thing about this place. read more
