It was a really quick stop after dinner to get some ice cream at Nemo's. We were so excited to get ice cream as we were on the road and so many people raved about how good it is. We got a cookies and cream "shake." It's not a shake, it was like a Dairy Queen blizzard. We needed to eat it with spoons, which was fine. Nothing wrong with that. It just should have had added cookies if that was the case. It didn't even come with a lid or straws. The cookies and cream itself didn't taste that good. It tasted like a shake was made previously that was fruity and the cup was quickly rinsed and not actually cleaned. We stopped here after hiking Lower Calf Creek Falls. We were HOT and craving milkshakes. They had lots of shady tables for eating and a drive thru and order inside option. The order inside is a small area but air conditioned which is nice. They were out of some flavors of ice cream like chocolate so that was disappointing. The prices were right though for the cones and shakes and they were refreshing and delicious. Our son had the grasshopper in a waffle cone and loved it. I only gave four stars because of the lack of flavor choice and because we didn't order any food so I can't really comment. The teenager did eat here after a Lake Powell scout adventure and was very excited to come back. I'm also intrigued because there was a for sale sign inside too so I'm not sure what will happen. This is the best restaurant I have ate in at Escalante. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken was perfect, it was flavorful and juicy. The fries were amazing as well with the perfect amount of salt and a crispy exterior with a soft interior. The value is amazing too, I had a shake which gave me more ice cream then I could eat. We made a quick stop by this place while driving on highway 12 from Capitol Reef to Bryce National Park. Best thing about this place is that it is open 7 days a week, so we were able to find food even on a cold winter weekday afternoon in the middle of nowhere. There is a drive thru section and also an order window with indoor waiting seat. The dining area, however, is outdoor only. Food was decent and came in generous portion. We ordered fried chicken steak sandwich. It was made fresh to order. Fries were hot and came with a fry sauce. The cookie n cream malt shake was unexpectedly good! Per the Yelp reviews, and where it's located (right on the main road)- I do wonder if the majority of Nemo's business comes from tourists. FOOD +Meh... Nemo's is fast food, without a drive through and the "fast". +Burgers: somewhat flavorless, but not overly greasy. However, if you are an In-N-Out Burger or Five Guys afficiando, LOWER your expectations. +Burgers are served with fries, but English Chips or Sweet Potato fries can be subbed for $1.50. English Chips can be described as fried potato cubes/nuggets. I love a fried potato... however, a little seasoning could have enhanced the bland. You'll find yourself reaching for the ketchup/mayo sauce served with the meal. +Cost: Slightly higher pricing than typical "fast food". Nemo's appears to have simplified their menu. Pizza and calzone options aren't available anymore. (Recent menu posted in pics.) Instead, ice cream: cones, shakes, soft-serve, etc have been added. read more

Cool place and ambience in what seems like a hip little town. The food was delicious and generous portion sizes meant to either share or have after a good hike. We ordered cheeseburger and regular fries, the adventure burger and sweet potato fries and the mushroom Swiss burger with onion rings. We all shared everything and no one was disappointed with any of the choices. Everything was prepared perfectly and was exactly as described. After dinner the kids got ice cream to share - the cherry chocolate chip (soooo good) and a chocolate vanilla swirl soft serve. Our only minor complaint was that the service was "meh" .... Today I was craving Fried Fish after a morning hike and came to Nemo's for lunch. While the fries were good, the fish was warm on the outside and ice cold on the inside. Do not get the Shakes or Malts here. My malt was just 2 scoops of ice cream rolled in malt powder and shoved in a cup. It was served with a spoon instead of a straw because it couldn't be drank. For once, found this place without Yelp (as I was without service in the area - boo!) and am surprised that it has the ratings that it does. Was driving around the area and discovered that I was famished. It was getting close to dusk, and it seemed like all other places in Escalante were closed except Nemos. Disclaimer: I'm basing my review solely on the chicken and rice burrito that I ordered, so it may not necessarily be representative of this establishment as a whole. Firstly, I was greeted by a not-so-friendly cashier who begrudgingly took my order. I was the only one there, and it looked like it had been that way for a while. Right after me, a lady came and ordered 2 large milkshakes and some other food, which miraculously came out before my one burrito. When it DID come out, I found out, to my dismay, that it was TINY and DEEP FRIED. The inside was filled with indiscernible mush, although I'm not sure what else I expected. Next to the burrito was some wilted, sad lettuce. Giving 3 stars because it was just all-right in a pinch, but would look for something else if I'm ever in the area again. read more

So stoked to find a quaint place that serves well made comfort food in a sleepy mountain town during winter! We were around Escalante hiking Grand Staircase and after 8 miles of sand strugglin' it was awesome to see this place with its blinking string of lights beckoning us over.
