I have been wanting to try this place since it opened. This place is quite busy with takeout orders. They serve Korean style sushi. Their beef yakiudon flavor reminds me of beef bulgogi. We also ordered a tuna oshi, salmon oshi, seared California roll and a Hawaii roll. The tuna oshi is topped with Montreal steak spice. It is unique but it tastes salty. The Hawaii roll is not bad. The pricing at this place is on the high side but their portions are decent. We probably didn't order the right food so we didn't enjoy some of their dishes as much.

Decent spot for sushi on Hastings. Service was prompt. Lot of seating, bright restaurant. Mentaiko udon came nice hot and creamy. Sushi was filling.

There's so much I like about this restaurant. Firstly, when you walk in it's clean! The vibes feel like you walked into an Instagram post with a modern clean aesthetic. The food is great they have Japanese and Korean flavours. We enjoyed a Sunday lunch and it was busy but not packed. I came there because it had 4.7 stars and I concur it has a great atmosphere and food. The service was good but near the end we were kind of rushed when the hostess gave us the bill before we asked for to. It kinda felt like we were being rushed out the door.

Replacing sushi town in Burnaby - Plenty of street parking along Hastings and on the side streets - Being on Hastings makes it very transit friendly. The place is decorated nicely and very bright and clean - didn't notice if there was any music - however tables are nicely spaced - Service was very quick and efficient - didn't need to wait too long for food to arrive - servers are able to answer your questions and make suggestions. I find the rolls and such are fairly priced - fish tastes fresh which is always a good sign! - i keep forgetting the names of the things I've tried and keep forgetting to review. But this is definitely a repeat/go to sushi spot for me - bonus point for it being nearby. There is plenty of specialty rolls that are full of flavors and fun! Give it a try! -

Ordered a few items for take-away for game day and it was good. Their rolls are very consistent, fresh and very well executed. I would skip on the spring rolls and takoyaki.

Sushi Nemo took over the Sushi Town location in Burnaby and it is quite a change in the ambience when you walk in. It's much less busy and less crowded. And very nicely decorated and clean. The food is relatively similar to your usual family Japanese restaurant. In my visit we tried the Awesome roll, toro and chopped scallop nigiri and a nigitoro roll. The Awesome roll is no longer the awesome roll we remember at Sushi Town. This one has fried baby shrimps on top. It was a good portion and good value for what you get. Toro was more on the lean side and I would not recommend ordering from here. The chopped scallop nigiri had a good amount scallops in it and was fresh. Service was very friendly overall and the waitress kept checking in on us. A good place to eat with family for some sushi without the crowdedness.

Looks like Sushi Town died at some point recently and has now reincarnated into a Korean sushi place. Parking is available on Hastings, as well as the side streets. The place is brightly lit and modern. Nice white walls and classy wood and stone trim. The place is definitely Korean run. Even the AC is Samsung. Staff are friendly and helpful. Portions are a bit small, but the quality is there. I had the wild salmon don. It was very fresh. 8 slices with some shredded turnip. Served with miso soup. I also had their chopped scallop rolls. Same deal. This place is definitely quality over quantity. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point. Recommended.

Great decor and ambience. It's got a modern look and clean feeling. The servers are nice but they seemed understaffed when I came around 1. I got the red dragon roll and spicy salmon roll. It looks great, but the red dragon roll $14.95 has a sauce that overpowers the salmon and the prawn. The sweet soy sauce is too distinct. It feels like I'm just eating rice and the sauce. However, I like the spicy salmon roll because they give a generous amount for the price. It's a simple roll though they can use some work with making sure the roll is intact and pretty. Overall, it's an affordable place to get sushi. I might come back to try their sashimi and see if it's as fresh as people say, but for now its 4/5 for me.

She then left to let us peruse the menu. We took awhile to look so we were asked at once point if we were ready and we sis we needed a bit more time so the server was delightfully accommodating and said whenever we were ready to give a server a call. Later on when we were ready our order was taken by a male staff member. We ordered a decent amount. Miso cheese eggplant, chawan-mushi, fried fish collar served in some kind of broth, 8pc nigiri omakase, blue fin tuna&uni hand cone, another hand cone but I can't remember what was in it..wifey ordered it, vegetable tempura and a black truffle dynamite roll. The highlight for me was the black truffle dynamite roll, it's taste was perfect. The right amount of truffle used and not over powering like I've had at so many other venues. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. It was smokey, earthy and tasted wonderful. The miso cheese eggplant was delicious, slightly salty from the miso and wonderfully roasted soft eggplant. The fish colar in broth was light and delicate, beautiful flavor and texture. Chawanmushi was soft and delicate, excellently flavored. The omakase which had fish from Japan was delicious, super fresh and masterfully prepared! The tempura came with a green tea seasalt which was different but very nice. For dessert we had the green tea tiramisu which was very tasty. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and wonderfully decorated. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and I would go back for special occasions.

The staffs/owner were very friendly and made great recommendations. Had the hamachi carpaccio, so refreshing and appetizing. The homemade ponzu (lemony) sauce has a nice finish with thin sliced onions and veggies. The Engawa Arburi nigiri was recommended, and it was phenomenal. It is the 'fin edge' of flounder. Super delicate, with seared (arburi) flavor and melts in your mouth. Yum! The other highlight was the Wagyu beef cubes severed on stick. Two skewers 4 cubes each. The Wagyu was perfectly cooked. It melts in your mouth with every bite. We also enjoyed the 7 piece Omakase sushi set. The fish was very fresh and satiating. Love the lotus root chips garnishing. We loved everything we had but would likely skip the Omakase appetizer Platter. Perhaps we were spoiled by the hamachi carpaccio appetizer. We still enjoyed it but For the same price, we would prefer the sushi set. It had 9 small plates in a beautiful serving box including- tiny sashimi cube of salmon, tuna, tamago, and my fav is the komochi nishin (herring fillets ("Nishin") layered over a base of crunchy capelin roe), also included in the tiny plates of apps were, chicken karaage, baby taco, sliced taco, taco in red sauce, and seaweed salad. The prices were very reasonable. Even though they were really busy, the service was attentive. I could see them packing a lot of takeout orders. I had the chicken teri donburi and salmon roll. We were both very full in the end and barely able to finish our food. The volcano roll was topped with a very generous mountain of torched scallop in the center under all the tempura bits. The Salmon Tataki Roll was torched and sprinkled with delicious crunchy bits on top that made the texture a more enjoyable experience. I would definitely come back to try different items or order from them in the future.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

Service was really amazing with servers explaining each dish and drinks were always topped off…read more Food was good, but maybe this isn't quite my style of omakase compared to the other ones I've tried. This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.
