I just had to update my review AGAIN because the food here is so inconsistent. It feels like there's two different people cooking the food. So some days you'll go, and it's amazing like last week (7/19),when I went and the ebbeh and plasas were on point, absolutely perfect . So much so that I went back again today to get the same exact thing. TODAY (7/26), it's like a completely different recipe, there was no tripe in the plasas last week, and all of my meat is either tripe or bone, I have not won edible piece of meat in my food at all. Both the ebbeh and the plasas taste bitter and lemony and are under seasoned. Not at all like it was last week. I ordered the exact two things from the menu. It's $30 just for ebbeh and plasas, so it should be consistent every time. Whoever made the food on 7/19 needs to be the only one cooking. Stop sharing the kitchen. Also, I know other people have said they had issues with the young ladies who serve the food sometimes. I've never had an issue with them they actually did a great job last week making my plates. To add insult to injury with my ebbeh, I literally have one shrimp in the whole thing. The ladies last week made sure I got my money's worth, and I had no problem spending the $30. This week I feel like I got ripped off. I feel like they think since I'm American that they can f*** over me, my daddy is Gambian, so I absolutely know better. In the future I'm going to save my money and just go to my auntie's house.

My wife and I wanted something different. My stepson was also wanting something different as well. We decided on African food because we wanted to try Fufu. We arrived to Nema's to find it was in an unfavorable area. Nevertheless, we still decided to try the food. On this particular day, they did not offer FuFu so we decided on lamb, cabbage, Jill of rice and vegetables. It took a while to receive our food because they had to cook more lamb. After waiting 30 minutes, we finally received our food and took it home. There was a mound of jollof rice for each plate with lamb on top and a sheet or so of cabbage and several cut carrots. The jollof rice was flavorful but the lamb was dry. There was not enough vegetables for me, personally. This is one reason I'm giving 2 stars. The other reason is there were family members that came into the restaurant and went straight to the food on the line. I felt this was unprofessional and not a good look for the restaurant. I'd expect them to have someone else prepare the food for them. We may visit again to try the FuFu.

They will offer bottled water as if it's the only option since there is a charge associated with it; however, tap water is available for free but you have to request it. We ordered around 7:31pm and received our food within thirty minutes. Because this is a hookah bar, the tables on the restaurant side are very low. You'll have to lean forward and down if you have the food delivered to you there. We were sitting at the low tables first but decided to head to the bar so we could actually sit at normal table height to eat. The steak kabobs were cooked too hard. They didn't ask how we wanted them cooked and we didn't think to tell them medium, so we just dealt with the overly well-done. They had a good taste, but they were just really tough to chew. The jollof rice with chicken and plantains was absolutely delicious; however, one of the chicken legs was really dark on the inside which made me not want to eat it, so I left half of that leg on the plate. I did dump the jollof rice into the sauce that the chicken sat in though because it was amazing. I loved the spice it added to the meal. The taste of all of the food was phenomenal. The jollof rice is definitely the star of both meals.

The pounded yam was smooth and not too thick. I had fun scooping up the Egusi in the Fufu with my hands. Both together was an enjoyable flavor and texture combo. The Beef Suya was good as well, a nice meat appetizer. The beef was cooked well done which some people may not like, but I enjoyed it since I grew up eating my steak that way. It paired very well with the spice blend and raw onions. I also had the Ghanaian Jollof Rice and that was not my most favorite dish due to the flavor. Not my cup of tea, but the rice was cooked well. I also liked the side plantains. The interior is nicely ornate and comfy. The service here was also super great and my assigned server was very personable. I genuinely enjoyed my conversation with her and she did well giving me recommendations and directions as a first timer for this type of food. Overall, I had a great experience here and would come back again!

Ike's…read morewas in the area the three of us were hanging out at, so I was looking forward to venture outside my normal restaurant. Setting / Service: We had came in about 10-15 minutes after they had just opened, so it felt like we were the first customers by the way the wait staff was missing. The host had told us sit at any table and we would have a staff member come swing by. We waited about 5-10 minutes before our waitress had came by and asked us if we were ready to order. Mind you - we were not given a food menu or told about the QR code that looked like it was barely hanging on the table beforehand. Food order took a little longer than expected. Table that was sat after us got their full lunch order before our soup came out. Felt little weird about that. The occasional check-ins from the waitress was welcomed. Food: Hunter's Platter was a overcooked or charred. The beef was well done at minimum. Some of the other meat pieces that contained bone were so overcooked that it was tougher than jerky and the bones themselves began to break off into sharp ends / mistaken as meat due to how brittle they became. For it to be priced at 'Market Value' and not have a actual charge was a bit odd to me. It came out to be near $60 for those wondering. Sweet potato soup with plantain fufu was good. We had ordered the mixed meat version, but it only contain one piece of each meat. It was borderline room temp by the time it got to our table. We had also ordered a few other items that were pretty enjoyable. Pleasant additions to a couple first timers who wanted to taste the menu. Overall: I'd say that the experience here was pretty okay to the point we had gotten the meal tab. It was a bit peculiar that our waitress had dropped off the credit card machine to the table for us after handing her my card. It was then I noticed on the machine "Additional Tip". Puzzled, I looked back at the check and noticed she had applied auto-gratuity. Yes, I would have given a tip. I would have given more than the auto applied tip, but it was context that made the entire situation foul. She applied auto tip, dropped the machine off, and just 'disappeared' until we left the table at which she muttered words as she walked past us while looking down to the floor.

I decided to try the tilapia with Attiéké, my aunt had the red snapper and couscous, which was also tasty, but mine was the showstopper!!! I really wanted to try the jolloff rice, but they were out... maybe next time. Anyway, it's a small spot, but welcoming. The food is cooked fresh! It was late, but I wanted to eat right then and there, so we dined in. The tilapia was like nothing I'd ever eaten, seasoned to perfection and it was fried, but also tasted grilled! What?!? It was so delightfully confusing!!! So meaty and fresh, not one piece of meat was going to waste, not even by the head! The Attiéké by itself, kinda bitter, but I mixed with the onion sauce and omg, Wow! That onion sauce is like none other, you have to try it to understand! It's unbelievably good-- a sauce of onions with onion chunks! I'm so glad I tried it! The gentleman that cooked it-- that man knows his way around a kitchen! I believe his name is Moda (sp?) and he's kind too! I'd definitely visit again!

Very dark and not many traditional tables and chairs. I came around lunch time and there were quite a few ladies in beautiful traditional dress (it was Christmas Eve). Nigerian cuisine is not one I'm incredibly familiar with, but I have tried many of the standard dishes. Today I went with White Rice and Red Stew, which comes with plantains. It was delicious. Piping hot and incredibly fresh. The spice level was perfect. Just spicy enough but in no way overpowering. The plantains added a sweet element which played beautifully against the spice of the stew. The only place they lost points was the price on the website is not the price I was charged. $19 on the website and I was charged $25 but maybe they just haven't updated to reflect current prices.
