Just flew in from Houston and this food slaps. Everyone needs to support this business

    Curry chicken and candied yams

Curry chicken was good and flavorful. Candied yams were bland. Service was quick and attentive.

Table for 2 for lunch  Approaching the restaurant and looking at the outside, it looked very unimpressive and generic. I quickly found a spot in the huge shared parking lot. It looked like a few of the surrounding stores were shut down and abandoned. I waited for my friend to arrive, because he had been here before.  He arrived and we entered. He advised that the indoor dining room was to the left and I could see they also had a counter, to the right, where you could place a takeout order.  We seated ourselves in the dining room, which was pretty empty.  The interior decor pretty much matched the outside look, very understated.  Our server quickly came by to take our drink orders.  I ordered a ginger beer.  Then we quickly decided on our entrees.  My friend ordered the boneless jerk chicken meal and I ordered the Curry Chicken Roti. I asked if the Roti was big enough for a full meal because  I was also contemplating ordering the Curry Chicken meal.  Our server explained it should be good enough portion. The food came out pretty quickly and my Roti was huge, more than enough for lunch. I started to dig in and It was "on point".  It was very tasty and seasoned well.   My friend commented that his Jerk Chicken meal was also very very good. We were eating and chatting it up in the dining room and our server Santee continued to check on us to make sure everything was going well.  He was very attentive throughout our visit and we were not being rushed out of the dining room. Overall, a good experience and I would return to try some other things on the menu.  A couple side notes, when I left I had an oily taste in my mouth for a little bit. On a good note, when I heated up my Roti two days later, and it was just as good.

Chicken Bone in Brown Stew Chicken expecting dark gravy but ok taste lil kick of spice

Restaurant has been over here over 10 years the best Jamaican food on national highway the yellow rice always cook. The chicken is never dry. In homemade patties.

Very good food. The dark chicken is delicious so is the cabbage and the rice and peas. I went here over 15 years ago and I think the owners have changed. They have vegan vegetarian options which look really delicious. They have Jamaican patties and I'll be back. It's a really good atmosphere great place to grab some lunch. The barbecue sauce is delicious. I added that onto my jerk chicken. You can get the jerk chicken with bone and or you can get it bone out which is different.

    Oxtails

Man do I love some oxtails and this place has em. I was so excited to come back to Atlanta because I get to get my fill of Jamaican food. This place definitely tops the list. We ordered a to go order and it was done when we got there within 20 mins. The oxtails were so good!! I really wish this place was in Vegas. The yellow rice is super flavorful and the coco bread is a must! Definitely will be back here again. Hopefully before I leave town.

    Tropical Chicken Pasta
    Laurice T.

I'm going to start by saying I have been coming to Tropical Cuisine since 2004 so 10 years so I was excited to be in the area to order takeout after not having my Tropical pasta since 2020! When I called and order the guy who has been working the counter since I first visited this place answered the phone and I immediately got excited about my order. Service over the phone was great as it always has been over the last 10 years. Once I got to the restaurant and walked in to pick up my food it immediately felt unfamiliar in there with the different staff working but once i got to the counter to pickup and pay for my food, i seen a familiar face (the guy who took my order over the phone) and i felt better. Anyways, the young man shows me my food before paying and my pasta plus yams as a side looked and smelled exactly the same like when I had it for the first. I'm eager to get home and devour my food. Well get home, food is still hot so I dig in.... disgusting! Even though my food looked the same, it did not taste the same. Yams were hard and not cooked all the way and the pasta noodles were cooked too long. Very mushy. I'm so sad because I brag about the food here being consistently good and on Saturday, 1/20/24 was the very first time I did not like my food after being a customer for 10 years. 3 stars because the service was good and always have been and there is plenty of parking in front of the building. Meal: Tropical chicken pasta (medium spicy) with yams Cost: $19.38

    Crab Patties
    Dominic E.

I was very excited to have some really good Caribbean food and was really let down by what I ended up getting. I ordered the Crab Patty, Oxtails with Collard Greens and Yellow Rice, and Key Lime Pie. The wait was longer than they said it would be and the food was not worth the wait. I saw a customer (obviously a regular) ask the staff to heat up their patty so it was hot as they wanted to eat it immediately. When I asked for the same thing, I was told the patties were hot and didn't need any reheating (as they came out of an obviously only luke warm holder). I as I bit into my Crab Patty, it was not hot. The crab in the patty was also fake and the pastry to filling ratio way off, as every bite was 3/4 pastry and only 1/4 filling. The Oxtails were extremely fatty. I've been to other places and the oxtails in those places are obviously stewed longer so the fat is rendered off. Not here. If you order the oxtails, be ready for a mouth full of gross feeling beef fat. The flavor was ok, but the amount of fat left on the oxtail was incredibly off-putting. The collard greens were unseasoned and bland. The yellow rice was good...in the same way that Uncle Ben's yellow rice it good. The key lime pie was...really, really good. All said, with much better options around, I won't be returning here.

When looking at the prices for a jerk chicken I figured it was a steal along with the fact that they had cheap mac & cheese, which looked amazing. I figured I'd give this place a go. Outside of a very convoluted ordering process because the driver somehow didn't have an address for my hotel food arrived relatively promptly. I love the rice. It was quite flavorful and on top of that taking in the jerk seasonings and sauces made it quite the good eat. The vegetables on the other hand were quite lacking in flavor and instead felt like a not so great side piece to an otherwise potential filled meal. Where it truly went off, the rails was with the jerk chicken. The chicken was quite bony with multiple bones throughout it and the remaining meat surrounding it, dry and lacking flavor outside of the sauce and seasonings. Perhaps I was spoiled in LA getting solid offerings of everything, but this was not it. But what really saved this was the mac & cheese. It was quite flavor, packed moist and very much so portioned quite well for the seven dollar offering. Perhaps it was how long it had sat in the driver's car which I imagine would not help. I honestly borderline would probably only order the mac & cheese of what I got so far again but I would give it another shot.

I seated myself at the bar and ordered three tacos 1 chicken, 1 shrimp and 1 steak to go. I noticed that there was another customer that came in and sat at the bar and was offered water, they were waited on by someone else but every customer should get the same level of service. I typically always check my food. I took a quick glance once the food was prepared and saw three tacos that looked like what I ordered. When I returned home, I found they gave me the wrong order. I received 2 chicken and 1 shrimp taco no steak taco. The tacos tasted like someone just poured a bunch of salt on them. They were super salty and hard to eat. I wouldn't recommend them.

This restaurant promises a tantalizing experience of Jamaican cuisine. The star of the show here is undoubtedly the jerk chicken. As soon as our plates arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. I ordered the jerk chicken quesadilla and daughter ordered the jerk chicken salad. The chicken for both was perfectly seasoned with a really nice blend of spices, but not overwhelming. The meat was tender and juicy, with a delightful char. Aside from the main dish, the sides were equally impressive. The tasty fries and jerk chicken egg roll . It provided a delightful contrast to the spice of the jerk chicken. The freshly made mango berry lemonade was amazing ! The atmosphere at Jerk Chicken House was warm and inviting, with open seating inside and out on the patio. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, offering recommendations, very attentive and ensured a pleasant dining experience. The only downside was while sitting on the patio since it was a beautiful sunny afternoon for lunch, was being approached by several homeless coming up asking for money or food. I didn't mind and agreed to buy some wings for the gentlemen who asked, but was approached by two more while eating. The owner brought us our food and when I placed the order, he was kind to provide the wings but asked him not to disturb customers again while they are dining. Overall, the Jerk Shop House of Flavor exceeded my expectations. The flavors were bold and authentic, and comforting. Whether you're a fan of Caribbean cuisine or looking to spice up your palate, this gem is a must-visit. I can't wait to return for another taste of their jerk chicken and warm hospitality.
