I came up from southern California to visit family and definitely needed a taco fix. I heard that Tacovore was a hip spot and it had a line out the door; when I ate there it was garbage and overpriced. I walked down the street and tried Nelson's Taqueria, and it definitely satisfied my taco craving. Maybe I'm spoiled from all the taco trucks serving great food on the East Coast. Got the vegan burrito and sorry to say that it was tasteless. I added the salsa to it and it definitely helped. ~~As of Feb.'16 most of my food reviews will be from the perspective of someone eating gluten free.~~ Let me start out by saying that I haven't confirmed if they have any gluten free options (the food is so damn good that I just don't care and will eat their food even if it means feeling poorly for a few days). However, for the last twoish weeks we have eaten here regularly and I have yet to have any reaction. Granted, I have stuck with one meal that SHOULD be gluten free by default, but again, thus far I haven't had a reaction. I currently have a message into the food truck to find out what options there are, if any, so please confirm ingredients for yourself and eat responsibly. Now, onto the review! Each time we have gone I have gotten the same thing: Carnitas Street Tacos. Holy hell are these amazing! The portions sizes are plentiful and you are really getting your $2.00 worth. At each visit the onions have been nice and sweet, the cilantro fresh, and the lime ripe and juicy. This last time we went, it wasn't the usual lime/cilantro/onion topping. Instead, it was chopped tomato/onion/cilantro and it was amazing! Nearly every time the carnitas has been perfectly moist, fatty, crispy, and delectable. The flavor of the meat really comes through, but isn't overwhelmingly "porky" in flavor and it is balanced nicely by their choice in seasonings. The only time we had a problem was one late morning/early afternoon* and it wasn't the 'normal' guy (**Edited 2/16 - Found out his name is Pablo! He seems fantastically genuine and nice and always has a smile on his face!). The carnitas was overcooked, dry, and chewy, but the flavor was still very much there and it didn't keep me from going back. On that particular visit were asked what type of sauce/salsa we wanted and it came to us not ok. It was all water and unfortunately we didn't notice until we were already home with the food. We didn't use it as we lucked out and had some sauce left over from our previous trip but he flavor of it was just super spicy pinkish water. That has been the ONLY time it has been a problem. Their hot sauces are very much worth noting, too. We love the red sauce and it has such a beautifully complex flavor. It has some wonderful heat that kind of sneaks up on you but it's not so hot as to overpower the flavor of the food you're eating. I also love the fact that it doesn't seem smoked/blackened in any way (it's a common theme I've found in a lot of Mexican food prepared for American palates and I'm not a particular fan of that char/burned food flavor). I'm keeping the extras we get and using it in my own cooking (it's that good). Usually, salsas like these tend to be very watery in flavor but not this particular one! It's thick, without being chunky, but disperses nicely when dispensed. It's very obvious that passion, and care, go into the food prepared here. It shows in the quality of ingredients and the preparation of the food. Whoever is working the truck when we've gone has always been smiling and happy and very obviously enjoying what they're doing. Super delicious plates of food! Mom ordered the breakfast plate and I had huevos rancheros. We ordered corn tortillas, too. Everything was delicious!! Plenty of food for each of us and everything was only $12 (two meals, two sides of tortillas and two waters). Really good hot salsa. Possibly the best part is how sweet the owner is. He's wonderful!! Five stars for a food cart? Yes, 'cuz it's the best chile relleno I've had in four or five years. Always very good, Tuesday is even better with Relleno Plate specials, a steal at $5. And the relleno was even better than normal, hot and juicy and soooo delish. I'm guessing it came right out of the fryer instead of being warmed up. I don't even know what to say except this place is amazing. Never had a bad meal, the chicken is probably laced with some kind of garlic cocaine, it's undeniably the best chicken tacos, chicken burritos, chicken anything. This is not to say that the carne asada or carnitas isnt on point either but the chicken always steals the show. It's super cheap for the quality of food your getting 2 bucks a taco and burritos for 5-7 depending on what you want inside. I have yet to try the whole menu but all of it has been so good so far. They have daily specials and are open from 9am to 9pm closed on Sundays currently as of May 2016. It's a tiny food cart with two tables for seating. The food is fast but there is usually only one person working so if you just ordered after five people be realistic it's going to take a few minutes. Most of the bad reviews I've read for this place are actually from people eating tacovore up the street because they were written by morons. They don't serve beer or alcohol but they do have some bomb ass food. Do yourself a favor and try a chicken taco. read more

El Paso Taqueria has the best chicken street tacos in EUG by far. Great prices, and even more delicious food. When cooking with chicken, a lot of food places tend to end up with dry, bland chicken, but El Paso has quality, fresh ingredients.
