Tried Nelson Auto Repair in Naperville after a recommendation from a CrossFit buddy glad I gave it a shot. First brought my truck in for a spark plug replacement, and everything went smoothly, no complaints. Decided to bring in the Corolla next for the same service and a routine maintenance check. I supplied my own parts, and while I did feel the labor costs were a bit on the high side, I understand that mechanics are skilled tradesmen you're paying for their time and expertise. Overall, Nelson seems reliable and professional. I'll definitely keep coming here for straightforward repairs or services I know he handles well. For more complex issues, I might shop around or go with someone with deeper specialization. Still, happy to have a local option I can trust for the basics. read more

I first started going to Nelson's in the early 1980's for service on my '76 Camaro. When their shop left Van Buren street in Naperville, I just assumed they went out of business. While recently searching for a repair shop for my '05 Camry, I found Nelson's again. (How did I know it was the same shop? Who can forget a name like "Buzzy"!). Anyway, I made an appointment for some routine maintenance, during which they found a couple of non-critical issues involving worn bushings and a small exhaust leak, which I'll have them fix on my next visit. I tend to keep my cars for a long time, so I'm very happy about reconnecting with Nelson's after all these years. read more

Very friendly, honest and fast. We had all 4 brakes done on our Volvo. The price was about 20 more per brake than the dealer. But we have tried to "shop local " as often as we can right now during covid. read more

I'm disappointed that this place hasn't gotten any reviews yet. My family has been utilizing this repair shop since they were on Washington St. in Downtown Naperville and they saw me through a Hyundia, an Eagle and a Jeep. They ALWAYS did repairs right the first time and ALWAYS knew exactly what was wrong before they even got the car. Pat, the mechanic who I always talked to, is extremely kind, knows his cars and does the right job the first time. Plus, he always knew about the cars we brought to him. He remembers his customers, their cars and their issues. They always sought out the oddest issues initially and almost always nailed them, and in the case of Eagle Vision (first gen LS) they sought out and solved the odd AC gas smell before the Eagle dealership could. Highly recommended for imports, domestics, budget and high end. Pat can do anything! read more

Apologies in advance to women's lib, but I am a total girl when it comes to cars. Meaning I know absolutely nothing about them, what it costs to fix or maintain them, etc. I could probably figure out a tire change if it was life or death, but otherwise, forget it. Luckily, I have a very knowledgeable uncle who works in the biz, and he recommended I go straight to Nelson's for my car needs. Pat at Nelson's is honest, kind, fair, and informative. I never feel like I'm getting screwed over or need a second opinion. His prices are super reasonable, given the thorough and warranty-d service you get. I've taken my car there over half a dozen times now, for all things varying from "it's been awhile, is the car ok?" To "my brakes are making a noise that makes me fear for my life," and he always gets my car back to health. Pat at Nelson Services has rescued two kid car dilemmas in the last 6 weeks for me and done an excellent job! My Son attends North Central College nearby . Had a brake lockup a few blocks from Nelson Services on a Sunday night . Pat arranged for a tow, got him back on the road quickly . My Daughter had a coil spring break that put her down. Again, Pat to the rescue, arranged tow, diagnosed, ordered parts and back on the road. Pat is an excellent mechanic honest and reasonable !!! This is by far the best place to go to for any type of repair. My husband and I have been taking our cars there since moving here in 1994. Pat is the BEST!! He fixes everything right the first time - amazing and always deals straight up with you. He never resorts to "scare" tactics to get you to pay for work to be done that could be put off for a while.
