Nello's was by far one of our favorite places to eat! We were looking forward to a kickback evening at home and we find a PUBIC HAIR stuck between a pepperoni and olive!! I called Nello's to speak with a supervisor. All I wanted was a refund and an apology. The supervisor immediately says it's not a PUBIC HAIR and asks me not to post this. I am deeply disgusted and disappointed! Nello's was our go to. Sadly we will never return. But why WHY WOULD A PUBIC HAIR BE BAKED IN OUR PIZZA?! I don't live in Phoenix anymore, but this is on my must stop list every visit (Eggstasy in Gilbert is the other restaurant). We always split the Old World Classic Salad (maybe my favorite salad dressing ever) and a pizza. They have never disappointed me, except for the server on my last trip, but the rest of their crew stepped up for her lack of caring (first time a server has given bad service in my 30+ visits to Nellos). Polpette Formaggio is oven baked meatball with house-made pizza sauce and bread crumbs, and it's Nello's Original! Classic European is deep-dish Pizza and olive oil based, with garlic ricotta, garden fresh tomatoes and sausage. It's a 1996 dough recipe -- mouthwatering! My absolute favorite salad is Nello's Salmon Cous Cous with Arugula. My word...it's as if scientists researched the best possible ingredients to set off the flavor of the fresh smoked Salmon...it's that delicious of a salad! What else? Their pizza crusts with a side of pizza sauce is a wonderful appetizer, as is their Chef's Board (it's big enough to share with quite a few people!) The Classic European and Deluxe Combo with the Original Crust are my two favorite pizzas. I've picked up as well as dined in over the last year and their service is always friendly and efficient. I initially started visiting the Nello's on Mesa Drive and Brown (no longer there) in the early 90's and reconnected with this Ahwatukee location about 3 years ago and have been able to relive some of the nostalgic tastes that made me such a loyal fan back during my high school years in the 90s. Thanks Nello's! *Tip 1* They have a full bar and quite a few drafts...and they have a Happy Hour! **Tip 2** Try some Siracha on the Salmon Cous Cous Salad. I've been coming here since I was a kid but the quality of the food has gone downhill. I paid $16 for a burger that tasted like it should've been half the price. The fries were good but nothing special, and the bun tasted honestly really bad, the meat and cheese were fine but it tasted like cheap diner food- not really worth $20 per meal with tip. The service was really good and it's a good location. I know Nello's isn't known for their burgers so if I came back I'd probably get the pizza instead. read more

I love Nellos! This is such a great family friendly restaurant. The food is phenomenal! I usually Just get a pepperoni pizza which you can never go wrong with. My kids say that the kids meal is amazing and they always want to go back. The servers are quick and nice. The place is clean and well kept which is always great. Nellos is the best pizza! We dine there at least once per month. They never disappoint. We ate outside on their patio. The heaters were on, so it made it comfortable. You lost a long time customer tonight because of your hostess. My wife and I came in and requested a booth. The young girl took us to a half table half booth. I walked back up to the hostess station and said could we please get one of those two booths over there? She told me hold on went and talked to some lady who I imagine was a manager and then walked right past me to seat two people who had just walked in. She seated them in one of the two booths I had just requested, and when she walked back over. I asked if we could have the other one. She said no that one's reserved. I said why did you seat them when they walked in after us she said I already gave you a table and you just didn't like it. My wife and I walked out and will probably never be back. We moved to Ahwatukee almost 10 years ago and has always been our favorite pizza spot. It's a shame that an awkward 15-year-old girl ruined our Saturday night. The reason we wanted a booth so bad was because I have a back injury from the military, and the chairs are very uncomfortable. read more

The food is decent, but service not so much. Ordered a garden salad for pick up, which clearly states on the menu (screenshot provided) that it comes with turkey or ham. Got home, and the salad had no protein on it. I've ordered this salad a lot over the years, and it's always come with a choice of turkey or ham with up charges for chicken or to double the turkey/ham. Given the main thing you're paying for on this salad is that protein I called to ask that the salad be refunded (not the rest of the order - just the salad). The manager I spoke with told me the protein choice didn't come through with the order. Fair enough, but the menu clearly says the salad includes turkey / ham. Order did not specify no protein (whereas I did remove other things that were specified on the order receipt). Instead of making any attempt to correct the issue, the manager instead tried to gaslight me by saying the salad doesn't include any protein. When told the online menu clearly specifies that turkey / ham is included, she didn't even look at the online menu and instead told me the protein hasn't been included for "a very long time." Funny since Nello's own menu says differently, and I've bought this salad for years in restaurant without this issue ever arising. If they didn't want to correct the issue because it didn't come through on the order that's one thing, but a manager trying to be deceptive about it and gaslight a customer is completely unacceptable. I've eaten at Nello's a fair bit, and you've made a lot more from my family than that $15 salad. Not a penny more after this though. read more

Nellos has amazing food and is a hidden gem in Ahwatukee! First- the caprese board is excellent and a great appetizer ... we have also gotten the Classico board too .. and neither one disappointed. The wood fired pizza is our favorite and the bolognese pasta as well is so good! The service was great and Mia was our server- she really makes you feel at home and recommended the boards to us. You will not be disappointed here for a great meal and family atmosphere. It's on our list to visit frequently. read more

Excellent food, great friendly and attentive service, and a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Only around 5 minutes from our house, this will definitely be a regular spot for my family and I in the future! I would love to come back during one of their specials or happy hour times. We thought we ordered way too much food, but we all devoured every bite (with a teenager and a tweenager, they can sometimes surprise us by the amount of food they can consume ). Their outside area is nice and open with misters in the patio to help cooling on a hot day. We loved it here, and we ordered a big range, fritto misto, old world salad (small was actually big) , portabello arugula pizza, spinaci pizza, and parlor burger. My youngest stated that it is the best burger and best fries that he has ever tasted, and he thinks of himself as a connoisseur of these things, lol. Everything was fantastic, and we all had different favorites, which is a good sign when you love everything in such a wide range of dishes. I'm glad we gave this place another chance in person, as during the pandemic a few years ago we had a one-off hit-and-miss experience with take-out. My neighbors keep raving about it though, so I knew we would try it again. Glad to be so wrong about my first impressions, as today this was just perfect from every angle. The Sangria and old fashioned drinks were OK but others might really like them as alcoholic beverages are a personal experience. The antipasto is worth mentioning. Enjoyed the olive/atrichoke/salami overall flavor. Nice creamy dressing on it too. I had the eggplant parm served on a bed of fettuccini noodles with sauce. Really crispy and loved the added spinach. He had the bolognese pasta and said it was good. The bread served with both meals was airy and well toasted. The cannoli filling was really good, yet the shell was thick and floury and just not right. I'd come back for the eggplant parm for sure. The service staff are friendly and prompt. I just got back from lunch at Nello's, a local Italian place with great pizza and excellent service. I have always had good food there. I would classify today as a great experience. I went in for a late lunch and watch a little football in a chill environment. I ended up meeting Steve, a regular there and found myself in a conversation with him and Mia (the bartender) that covered everything from football (which I know nothing about) to Mia's fashionable nails that can also be used as claws if need be to haiku poetry to manly beers vs. pink girly beers... It was like hanging out with old friends. A 45 minute lunch turned into 2 hours of funny stories over 3 beers. Started with the house salad with their proprietary Italian house dressing (oh such joy)! Then on a whim ordered Pasta Bolognese. Pappardelle noodles, Bolognese sauce, grana padano, rosemary oil and chives. The wider noodles with the rich and meaty sauce was incredible. Noodles were done to perfection and the rich meat sauce was ladled in nicely for a rich and comforting lunch. It's pizza and so much more Thanks for the new creations ! Been going to Nello's Ahwatukee for years! We like to pick up to go our order. Last week ordered a large Antipasto salad and lasagne. Guy packing my order almost gave me a "small" salad when paid for large. I had to ask him was a large, he said no. Next the lasagne was already done which was weird because that usually takes longer. For $18.00 you now get half a piece. Bread stick included was like so dry you could play drums with it. Restaurant owners, we get prices have gone up, but hate when you shrink your portions and double the price!!! You get one or the other. To bad we won't get lasagne again, because it was good. read more

I can't begin to state how awful my service was when I went to eat at this establishment. I had no problems with the food I must say to begin with. I never write reviews, but the attitude I received from our server was nothing I've ever experienced from simply wanting to eat a dinner with my partner. The server I was unfortunately given was Cassie. I was first greeted with a smile by Sabrina and hoped it would have foreshadowed the rest of my evening out. As I was seated, I couldn't tell what was wrong with my server. The tone and body language from our server was annoyed, tired, and nothing short of rude. I can understand if someone is having a bad day or moment but it is simply unacceptable to receive this treatment out of nowhere. I wanted to enjoy a nice meal out and go about my life but I had to go out of my way to write this review to feel any sort of resolution for the way I was treated. Again, nothing wrong from the food. I will be getting my Nellos Pizza delivered from now on. Up to whoever reads this if you want to play the Russian roulette of service here at this establishment. Disappointing. read more
