Coco bread
Alexis H.

My god TUHHHDAY!!!! 10/10 no notes. The food was fresh, piping hot and delicious. I ordered the oxtail ragu, coco bread with jerk garlic butter and garlic broccoli. The homemade coco bread?!!!! Yea next level. The broccoli perfectly cooked and yes I could taste the garlic. NOW. The oxtail ragu, I was expecting pappardelle noodles but NOPE! It was served with rigatoni, generous amounts of oxtail, freshly grated cheese and saucy just like I like it. Anthony is a spectacular server!! They have a forever customer out of me now. My friends rant and RAVEEEEE about this place and I see why. The food did take a while and we were the very first customers so we gave grace as we were in no rush but keep that in mind.

Haven't been here in a while, so we came back for dinner--and I'm so glad we did. Starting with the service: Anthony was our server and truly did it all. He was the first to greet us when we walked in, made our drinks at the bar, and served us at the table--all with a big smile. He was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout the night. The ambiance was lovely and welcoming. For food, we ordered the oxtails, which were incredibly tender and delicious. It's rare to find oxtail that isn't tough or overly fatty, and these absolutely exceeded expectations. We also had the seafood roti, which was full of flavor. The drinks were excellent as well. Overall, an amazing experience from start to finish. Highly recommend.

My favorite was the curry goat and the oxtails. the rum punch is divine. We really Enjoyed ourselves and will be back

Very happy to see they have their liquor license back. We were hoping to catch the Rhum Lounge on Black Friday but it was pretty empty. Despite that the drinks were delicious and glad to see things back up and running. I'd go back on another night not after a major holiday.

Black owned + BYOB! Upscale Caribbean aesthetic. Service was great, Chris was delightful. Drinks: Cucumber coco + Mama Negril The cucumber coco was sooooo refreshing! 10/10! Mama Negril was sweet and tasteful. Food: Jerk wings w Mac & cheese + Jerk rubbed chicken w rice, peas & carrots The wings were falling off the bone! Mac & cheese was a great pair (the crust on top was everything). Jerk chicken was seasoned & cooked to perfection. The roasted carrots upstaged the rice.

I wish I could give this place multiple negative stars for me and my group's experience. I'm currently writing this infront of this unprofessional establishment. To start off, the wait time for food and drinks is horrendous. Once we placed our drink order we waited 40 something minutes for our drinks to come and after our food order we waited an extra 1hr and 30 minutes. The menu isn't big enough or too complex for food to take so long to reach your table. God forbid they send you to the bottom floor. It felt like a club, could not have one conversation without the DJ screaming in your ear. Love the vibes but definitely not If you don't want to leave with a headache. On top of all of this, when the food actually made it to the table we didn't even have utensils and had to ask multiple times for some to be brought. When our check got to our table things had been charged wrong as well. I only saw one server in the whole floor and 1 person bringing out the food. I don't know if this place is trying to save money by hiring less people but maybe they should invest more in how they want to treat their clients. Would not recommend this place to anyone. I wish I could get my money back and the memory of ever entering this restaurant. I would've liked to ask for a manager if I didn't feel like it would've taken another 2 hour for someone to come to our table and actually serve us.

Guess who is back! Well they got their liquor license back. I came here on Mother's Day with my mum, sis, cuz and aunts. For the last several years we have been here for all of our birthdays. It is our favorite place as a family. The food is always a hit and the staff is always friendly and welcoming even though some faces have changed over the years. The decor switches every few years and it is always a beautiful update. As for the food, my mum had the Escoveitch Whole Fish, my sis and aunt had the Curry Goat, my other aunt had the Jerk Shrimp, my cousin had the Tamarind Ribs and I had the Calabash Stew. We also ordered the Sharing Plate for the appetizer and the Ackee and Tostones (no saltfish) for me. 10s across the board and the Rum Punch is better than I remembered.

I love negril village, I've been coming back for several years.it feels like Jamaica when you enter for brunch. Great music, good vibes, and the food here is amazing. I love the seafood platter with lobster, shrimp, and fish, soooo good. I've had plenty of dishes here, the jerk wings are good, not too spicy (definitely order extra sauce on the side) Mac and cheese is really good, the run punch is delicious and the coconut run punch is good too if you like creamy. Overall this please is always a slam dunk, great portions and excellent service.

Curry seafood comes with a lobster tail, a couple of small chunks of salmon, about three or four shrimp

Overall, the experience was nice and the food was good. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday. I probably should've done a little more research beforehand because I really just wanted them to sing him "Happy Birthday," but you have to understand--dealing with Jamaicans, they're not usually like that. My husband, who is Jamaican, didn't really mind. The chicken was a little burnt, but everything else was good. He enjoyed the rest of the food, and since he had no real complaints, I could tell he was satisfied--especially because he tipped $40.

I enjoyed the laid back Caribbean vibe of this establishment. The music, service and food were good. I highly recommend the empanadas to start. The curry goat is delicious! If you plan to visit please understand that this is a BYOB restaurant. While this can be seen as an inconvenience to some it was no biggie as we ordered a bottle of wine through delivery service. Lastly depending on budget this place may be a bit pricey for some. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely eat here again.

Since I got back from Vietnam I have been on a Jamaican/Caribbean food kick, so when my big bro demanded I meet him at Negril for our weekly lil bro/big bro check in, I happily obliged. We walked in at 7:08pm to a damn near empty restaurant. We were a little shocked, as any place in nyc this empty at 7pm on a Friday seems like a red flag. Negril has a high class Jamaican ambiance, which seems like a contradiction in itself, but I was all for it. My big bro, on the other hand, became concerned. He began to look at pictures on Yelp and thought the portion sizes looked too small for him. After deliberating on whether to stay or leave, I was like "dude let's just try it-it can't hurt to try..." I realized I had never stood up to big bro like this and took a major risk by stating a personal opinion. But he responded with a nonchalant "Okay, I'm down." Did I just big bro my big bro? We got the Jerk Wings, Oxtail Empanadas, Plantains, Curried Goat, and the Jerk Chicken. I was absolutely blown away by the food. The spices and the flavors were all on point, everything was hittin with my favorite being the Jerk Wings and Curried Goat. After we ate, a photographer came around taking HIGH quality pictures of customers. I was a little confused at first, but the motive became clear when they got to our table. They took a couple pictures of me and my big bro, then about 5 minutes later came back with framed pictures that cost $20 a piece. $20 is wild... but at the same time I can't knock the hustle. If I was a few drinks in while eating with my girl, they forsure would have got my ass. Echoing other reviews, the ONLY reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because of the 20% gratuity baked in. I just think that this completely misaligns incentives for good service. By the end of our meal, the place was PACKED which was external validation that we had made a great decision. External validation, while dangerous, is nice sometimes. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost has mixed style table / seating arrangements throughout the place. A bar seating section, booth-style seating area, lounge- style seating area, etc. We got there a little after 7pm, so the afterwork crowd was in full swing. Paradise Lost has interesting atmosphere. At times a Gothic / Medieval Vibe, meets place w/ shipwreck decor, meets eleganct /club vibe w/ beautiful ceiling lighting, etc. Music played in the background. Staff are friendly, energetic, & attentive. We were pleasantly overwhelmed w/ the vast selection of tiki cocktails that were on the menu. Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. Paradise Lost accepts groups of 8 or less, unless you are requesting to book the space for a private event. Ages 21+ paradiselost.nyc @paradiselostnyc Paradise Lost is open everyday - 5pm-2am.

Dim lighting, plush seating, rich wood + wallpaper details, and that lounge-library vibe make the place feel like a secret hideout right in the middle of Midtown.
