I had an extremely disturbing experience at Last Lap today that honestly left me feeling like my card was stolen. I went there with two friends and paid for our drinks. I handed my credit card directly to the bartender/waitress to open a tab, which is completely normal at a bar. About five minutes later I asked to close out the tab because we were about to leave. Instead of simply giving me my card back, I noticed the staff behind the bar quietly searching around. No one said anything to me. They didn't tell me they lost my card. They didn't explain what was going on. I just stood there watching them look around until I finally asked, "Where is my card?" Only then did they say, "We're looking." That was the entire explanation. I asked where it could have gone since I had literally handed it to them minutes earlier and it had never left their possession. Their response was basically that they didn't know. No accountability, no urgency, and no real explanation. Think about how absurd that is. I hand you my card, come back five minutes later, and suddenly no one knows where it is? The situation became extremely suspicious and concerning very quickly. My card had only been in the hands of the staff, yet they were acting like it had just disappeared into thin air. Because they couldn't produce it and no one seemed to be taking the situation seriously, I ended up having to call the police. Even after the police were called and involved, the staff still showed absolutely no urgency in trying to locate my card. There was no sense that they understood how serious this situation was. Losing a customer's credit card, especially when it was just handed to you minutes earlier, should be treated as a major issue. To be completely honest, I believe someone at this bar stole it. There is no logical explanation for how a card handed directly to staff could disappear within minutes unless someone intentionally took it. What makes it even worse is that they didn't even tell me the card was missing. I had to notice them searching and ask questions myself before they even admitted they were "looking" for it. Now I'm stuck canceling my card, monitoring my accounts for fraud, and dealing with the stress of something that should never have happened in the first place. I would strongly warn anyone going here: do not hand your card to the staff. Based on my experience, it may not come back. Completely unacceptable read more

Been to Las' Lap twice within the past couple of months. The first time was in December and the second time was Valentine's Day weekend with my best friend. It's a smaller space with two floors, and it can definitely be hard to find a seat. The decor reminds me of being on an island but still has a rustic feel. I'm not the best at describing design, but that's the closest I can get. Even though it's small, I actually like that because it makes the space feel more intimate. Music is a mix of hip hop, R&B, reggae, and Afrobeats depending on the night. Both times I went, the DJs were good. The crowd both times felt more 27+, which I appreciated. Service can be a bit slow at times. From what I've seen, there are usually only about two bartenders handling the entire space. When it gets packed, it can definitely take a while to get your drink, which can be frustrating. Just something to keep in mind if you're going on a busy night. Now the drinks. I'll be honest, they are hit or miss and can get very pricey, which I understand comes with the location. In December I ordered the Christmas Sidecar for $18 and wasn't really a fan, so I switched to a Hennessy Sidecar for $26. That one was very good, but for the price I did not feel like the liquor to cost ratio fully matched. Valentine's Day weekend is where things got interesting. My friend and I initially ordered a Don Julio Reposado margarita and a regular margarita. When the bartender rang it up, the total was about $77. We were honestly shocked. I asked why, and he explained it was because of the top shelf liquor. I switched it to two regular margaritas and the total came to $46.40. That is about a $30 difference for one drink, which felt excessive. The margaritas were decent. We eventually switched to rum punches at $18 each, which we both preferred, even though they are still on the pricier side. Now the food. The Jerk Chicken egg rolls are really the star. I highly recommend them. The seasoning is great and the sauces they pair with it really bring everything together. If you are expecting large chunks of chicken inside, this might not be what you're looking for, but flavor wise they deliver. The last time I ordered them to go, the presentation looked a little thrown together, but the taste was still there. Overall I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. I would go back now that I know what to order. I enjoy the vibe, the music, and those jerk chicken egg rolls really are that good. Just be prepared to spend, especially if you prefer specific or top shelf liquor. read more

Go here every time I am in town, I love the people at the front door as in security and door girl. They are so friendly and accomidating its almost night and day from some experiences I have had in California. They make you feel at home and like family, great music aswell. I have had the experience of eating upstairs which is 10/10. Love the tacos (I think ahi tuna tacos?) Also have had just drinks downstairs on a busy weekend night. We arrived Saturday at 8:15 PM definitely make a reservation since all tables were booked. The music was a vibe, and the drinks were strong. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the sweet chili chicken wings which were flavorful with a great balance. Both of us had the oxtail, which was good, but the rice was a bit dry, and the plantains were very dry. I've been here quite a few times and What a sexy, chic hidden gem giving little Havana vibes. Depending on the day of the week it could be at capacity or a chill low key night but the guys at the door are always friendly and professional. Even when the place has been crowded I was still able to get a drink within 5-7 min. This bar lounge serves some really good Caribbean style eats like jerk chicken rolls and sweet chili wings.. . The drinks are well prepared despite not having much of what makes them great... and that's alcohol smh. The drinks are ridiculously over priced. The place is dimly lit which gives it an easy feel so it's worth coming back to. If I had to choose between these two options, the codfish fritters would be my pick. For the big tings, we got the jerk chicken and the oxtail. Both of these were amazing, and the sides they came with were tasty. The service was good. The waitress recommended drinks and answered all our questions. The ambiance was great. I've been to Las Lap many times over the years, on different days and different times and I've always enjoyed myself. I've come here for private birthday parties in the loft space, dropped by for brunch and more recently stopped by during the week day for happy hour. While the main floor is pretty small, we were lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar on a Wednesday evening. The cocktails we ordered were great and the music was exactly what I was hoping to hear (Reggae, Reggaeton, Soca etc) which put me in an upbeat mood to enjoy a rather mellow happy hour. Just be mindful since the space isn't very big, I'm guessing it' can get pretty packed on the weekends so probably not the best choice if you're rolling with a big group. Apparently Michael B. Jordan is owner or partner of this speak easy type of lounge bar. Went randomly with a group of associates and I like the petite romantic aesthetic. The bar tenders, music, and some of the food were great! The bar tenders were friendly and attentive. They made delicious drinks and you get the alcohol for the price of drinks. I don't drink but ordered the moss mango ginger juice. My associates ordered coconut cocktail and nespresso martini which was strong. Also ordered a strawberry cocktail that was sweet but heavy alcohol which is a good thing. The food was decent but can be spicy. Petite Caribbean late night menu but we ordered veggie Pattie's and jerk chicken egg rolls which was the star choice. The jerk rolls come with a sweet spicy and jerk bbq sauce. The veggie Pattie's were spicy, but still needed flavor so we used the jerk rolls dip. I hope they change the recipe of the veggie patty, they seasoned it with just spices, couldn't taste the food and the breading wasn't flaky like traditional cooking. Least favorite item. All and all, this romantic dim lounge can get crowded but it's a great date, group meet up spot late night in lower Manhattan. The music is mostly 90s and 2000s rnb soul but a sight dance vibe. Las' Lap deserves all the acclaim and praise they have received. I noticed that some reviewers have complained about the music being loud. I'm afraid I have to disagree but to each their own. Las' Lap is at the top of the class when it comes to everything. The staff, food, decor, and ambiance were everything. The vibe is so chill and sexy. The bubbly and sweet hostess CeCe and the entire staff hit all their marks to ensure every guest has an unforgettable experience. I can't say it enough, Las' Lap is elegant and serves classiness. Many people have mentioned the drinks, and I concur. I  had two drinks, both potent flavorful, and prepared with excellence. Now, as a former or recovering New Yorker it felt like the Twilight Zone when I walked in, I didn't realized Las Lap was housed in the former Spur Street spot at 74 Orchard St, and I will say not much has changed in the best of ways. The vibes are immaculate, the cocktails are stellar ($13 HH /$17 standard), the playlist is an old school to early 2000's sing-a-long, and all the food that passed by smelled amazing even though I did not taste. I went for happy hour just after 5, tables are reservation only and accommodate smaller parties, for a seat at the bar arrive early. Wine was pretty poor table wine, would avoid. Food was great--patties were flavorful with heat, especially the vegan. The veggie patty also happens to be vegan. Classic patty crust for the veggie, whole wheat for the vegan. Never seen coco bread the same cost as a patty though, which gave I heart NY tourism pricing but whatever works. I love this place every time I come it is a blast and I stay longer than planned. Their cocktail menu is seasonal and I tried the new drinks they have. Right now they do not have frozen drinks but hopefully they will have some soon. I had the jerk chicken egg rolls and they were delicious. I also had the sorrel mule, the summer time, rum punch and another drink which I can not remember. All the drinks were delicious but I missed the it was "all a dream" which I have had before and it was delicious but is not on the menu currently. The bartender is amazing and very friendly. Dining at Las Lap is really like a Caribbean oasis! The interior decor is so aesthetically pleasing. I love Caribbean cuisine, so I've been excited to get this place checked off my list. Reservations are required and there is a 2 hour max seating time. The host was so gracious to let me sit at the table while I waited for my dining partner to arrive. I started off with the sorrel. I love a good sorrel, and this sorrel was GOOD! They also have a lot of island rum inspired cocktails, which are strong! However I was disappointed with my food. Both the jerk chicken and oxtail were just okay -- nothing spectacular or out of this world that would keep me coming back for more. The chili wings were very tasty though! Las' Lap has a nice vibe to it. The downstairs has about 2 decent size tables and then I believe 2 side tables that seat 1-2 persons along with the bar. It can get kind of cozy in there, but they do have an upstairs seating area. I've visited various Caribbean food spots in the city and although this doesn't make my top restaurants list it's still a decent restaurant. The jerk chicken egg rolls were def my favorite and soO delicious. 5/5! I could go there and eat those alone with a delicious cocktail. The jerk chicken was also not bad, but I do wish that it had a bit more spice and flavor. The rice and beans were okay and felt as if they had been sitting out for a while (room temp) Overall, I think it's a nice place to stop by to have a few cocktails and apps before heading elsewhere. Some songs you haven't heard in ages, and finally hear it again and you like, "OOOOOHHHHHHH", in the best way, of course. These drinks though....As a New Yorker, how many bars can you say you've gone to, where they're not only overpriced, but also watered down, basic, overly diluted with ice, etc? I think most New Yorkers know that struggle. At Las' Lap, I ordered 3 drinks, which were all top tier in taste, and left me with a lovely buzz. All tropical, fruity, and boozy! They all truly gave me those island vibes, especially the "It Was All a Dream" drink (yes, inspired by Biggie lyrics), which was made with condensed milk (added a nice, thick, rich consistency). All the components of their drinks, from the liquor choices, to the crushed ice (yeah girl, it makes a difference) contributed to the overall experience and taste! Aside from their drinks, I ordered the patties. One chicken, one beef. And let me just say this, ok? These ain't no Golden Krust patties (no shade to GK). These are PAT.TIES. Real, fresh dough, and real meat fillings. These were THEE best patties I've ever eaten! With the chicken patti, I bit into it and it tasted like I was eating chicken soup. It was such a flavorful, rich chicken filling that really did warm my heart and make me chew slowly so that I could savor every second of it. And as good as the chicken patti was, the beef was even better! I mean, naturally, beef is easier to flavor, but still, it's not always done right. It was deeply flavored beef. Bestie & I made reservations to visit on a Sunday night. This spot was a little hard to pinpoint as the outside doesn't look like much. The ambiance inside, however, is cute and quirky. Perfect vibes for a date night. We had the chicken patties, veggie patties, jerk chicken egg rolls, macaroni pie, and sweet chili thai chicken wings. Everything was delicious especially the chicken wings (it almost makes up for the price). Drinks were strong and well-made. Playlist was fire. Service could use some improvement though. I've now been denied entry at Las Lap multiple times simply because my friends and I were an all-male group. The security guard recently told us we couldn't enter without women in our group, which is unfair and blatantly discriminatory. Being Black in the Lower East Side, we (black people) already face issues of racial exclusion, and I thought Las Lap would be a safe, inclusive space for Black people of all backgrounds. I expected better from a place that should be a welcoming haven, not another source of discrimination. read more
