A friend and I showed up at Omar's for Happy Hour but we were a bit too early. We stayed anyway. I was a newbie at Omar's and really excited to try it. Problem is, I barely had an appetite. We ordered drinks. I believe I had a rum punch. It was so strong and tasty, I ordered another one. Next, we ordered wings just to keep the boozy lion from roaring too loudly. Sesame teriyaki I believe. Delicious. We sat for a looong time, even made a friend with a young lady at the table next to us. When the bill came, our bartender who may have been the owner was nice enough to still give us the Happy Hour discount even though we were early.

Stopped Omar's Kitchen before heading to a concert. Omar's is a dope restaurant if you want to dine alone. There were a number of guest who dined alone. The service was good. The waiter was very attentive. I stared off with a cocktail. I ordered the stew salmon with a side of Mac and cheese. I didn't like the Mac. It looked good, but it lacked flavor. I was able to exchange the Mac for another side. The restaurant was very intimate rooted in the Caribbean culture. The playlist was very good, and I plan to go again the next time I am in the area.

Stopped in here for a quick brunch! They had bottomless mimosas with different flavors! We had sorrel and soursop (the soursop one was sooooo good)! For the food, if i had to choose my meal 10 times over, I'm choosing the tamarind wings. They were so flavorful and moist. I love a good wing! The curry oxtail tacos were okay....i think it was missing an "acid" like a hot sauce or something. The pineapples added something but not a lot. It was also really oily. The lamb coco bread sliders had so much potential but the meat to bread ratio was throwing me off so much. I wish there was more to it. Overall, come for the wings and the mimosas. Service was decent- no complaints but it wasn't the best either. And the ambiance reminded me of a Caribbean jerk hut.

Came here mid day Saturday with friends. There was little to no crowd. While here I sipped on a rum punch (not very boozy) while noshing on the following; Salt fish fritters: fried perfectly. Crispy bites of salt fish. Good Lamb sliders: it was a bit gamey but, dipped in the salt fish fritter bites, better. These were just ok. Curry oxtail tacos: meat was deliciously tender but was overpowered by the pineapple. Also you got very little curry flavoring. Lastly the tortilla. It was very chewy. Tamarind glazed wings: although grilled perfectly these lacked in flavor. Service was quick and friendly but, overall my visit was just ok.

I was looking for somewhere to celebrate a friend's birthday and I came across Omar's Kitchen and the drink menu alone had me intrigued. We ended up having dinner here and although I had high hopes, it greatly exceeded my expectations. We walked in and I instantly felt like I was transported to a mom and pop spot in Jamaica, the vibes were amazing here just overall good energy. We chose our own seat and started off with the Coco Bread Lamb Sliders, they were just PERFECT! The lamb was fresh and seasoned perfectly with jerk seasoning but not too much. I love that you could taste the actual flavor of the ingredients and nothing tasted artificial. The coco bread was soft and doughy, the tzatziki was a perfect addition and tbh it was one of the best bites I've had in a while. Next I ordered the Tamarind Punch and it was amazing, the tamarind flavor stood out so much it was such a well made cocktail. The Rum Punch was a 10/10 as well. I got the Sorrel Glazed Lamb Chops as my entree and they were so good, the presentation was gorgeous, they were super tender and the sorrel glaze was everything, sweet yet savory, I can still taste it now! My friend ordered the Traditional Jamaican Oxtail and it was cooked to perfection and again seasoned amazingly. Nothing was salty and everything tasted authentic like a Jamaican granny was in the kitchen making Sunday dinner. We ordered some broccoli and plantains in addition to our rice and peas and both were great. Aside from the amazing food, I really enjoyed the ambiance here , the music was on point and the decor was stunning and I love how genuine the vibe was. As far as service our waitress was amazing, she was super busy waiting and making drinks but she still took the time to answer all my questions about the menu, she was super friendly and she made amazing suggestions. I will definitely be back again soon to try more dishes, I have my eyes on the Escovitch Red Snapper for next time! The bill came out to around 155 and it was worth every penny, highly recommend for a date night or a girls night.

Date night at Omar's! Couldn't wait to have some Doubles and maannn, did they NOT disappoint. So absolutely fresh and delicious. Like, so fresh it felt like the herbs and spices were just picked not even 10 minutes before being added to the Channa. Please don't sleep on them they are THAT good. We shared those along with the Honey Appleton Rum wings that were boosting with flavor. I prefer flats over drums. Would've been great if we could've gotten all flats (maybe a possibility but I didn't ask). I'll ask next time. I got the Coconut curry Oxtail, which came with a side salad and a side of rice and peas. Admittedly, while delicious, some pieces were tough and I thought they lacked in size. I love oxtail. The meatier the better. These pieces fell a bit short for me. The rice and peas were good slathered in the braising sauce. I was so full, I hardly touched the salad. The hubs got the Jerk Chicken and he loved it. Flavorful and full of spice. Also served with a side salad and rice and peas. I love spice but didn't want to try in the event it overloaded my taste buds and ruined my entree so I'll take his word for it. His eyes always tell a story at first bite and he was most definitely happy with his choice. I loved their pineapple margarita. It tasted exactly like a pineapple lifesaver. Yummy. Make a reservation!

We stopped in before a basketball game and...eh. Wings had a good flavor, but were room temp. The rest of the food was subpar and the Caribbean flavors never came through. We enjoyed the location, having a cozy booth, and an empty restaurant. Restaurant seemed to be family-owned, a lot of hanging around at the counter playing music.

Came on a rainy afternoon it was not busy so we were seated immediately. This place looks exactly like a place in Jamaica. The playlist was a vibe, dancing while eating is my happy place. The wheat tortillas is not my favorite for tacos. The wings were good nice flavor. The burger was a little dry but had a good taste. The fish fritters were good. Overall a good time.

Everything was amazing! Flavor was there!! We got the jerk bbq glazed lamb and the coconut curry oxtail. We got the frozen rum punch and it was dangerously good. Great staff and nice ambiance. Music was great and the interior was cute!

    Brunch- Fish and grits

1 Sunday morning I get a call for brunch... being a major brunch lover, I was DOWN! We came to Omar's and here's what I think... Food- the best thing out of the dishes we tried for brunch which includes oxtail and grits, fish and grits, lamb sliders, and chicken and waffles, were the grits. They're made from plantains and that's the most unique and flavorful thing I've had for breakfast in a while. Otherwise the lamb sliders came with 2 and were small so I left hungry. The chicken and fish weren't flavorful yet were perfectly fried and had a great crisp! The oxtail was nice and tender. A bit pricey for brunch as the portions were small and the drinks even though we requested to have a splash of mix were mostly mix. Service was okay. We sat with our finished plates on the table for over 20 minutes. Service would've been better had check-ins occurred more frequently. Overall I'd give them a 3/5 for brunch. Ambiance was so homey! Very well decorated and very cozy. Looks to hold about 35ish people comfortably. Lovely and GORGEOUS decor ! Be advised the booths are high seats so prepare to climb! 1 thumb up and would return to taste entrees and to try full priced drinks.

I went here around lunch time with my son. Mom and son day. I would say the food was good. I think the salted codfish fritters were good just a little too salty a little less seasoning next time. I loved the brown stew fish the rice and plantains they were good. The waffles my son had he liked it and he said the Mac was ok. The rum punch needed to be more stronger to be honest. It wasn't strong enough for me. Overall I would go again and try other things from the menu. The waiter was awsome. The ambiance was nice I loved the music a lot I was dancing in my seat. It not a big place but it was nice inside and welcoming. I gave it three stars cause it was some hits and misses but overall a good place to go.

As a Jamaican native, I tried their oxtail curry on a friend's recommendation. Big mistake. The oxtail was so tough it broke my tooth - now I'm facing expensive dental work. The curry was bland, missing the mark completely. Only the festival and fish cakes were decent. Should've noticed the red flag: this place was empty while the restaurant next door was packed. Skip the Southern friends' Caribbean food recommendations. The waitress was cute though

My first time trying Caribbean food! It was a bit hard to find the place because the name wasn't right on top of the door. But I was swiftly assisted once I came in. The decor was cute and gave me island vibes. I chose where I wanted to sit and they set me up with menus on their iPad. I didn't know the coconut oxtail came with a side, but I chose rice and beans. My friend got the jerk chicken with mac n cheese as her side. If you pick the lobster mac n cheese as your side, there is an up charge of $10. The lamb sliders were very flavorful. The sauce reminded me of greek flavors. My oxtail dish had a bit of fat but even when I avoided it, i was still super full from the meat left. I love their version of dumplings that was inside the curry. It reminds me of gnocchi but just longer. The curry wasn't too spicy, but the jerk chicken was. I never knew what jerk exactly was but it might just be a spicy flavoring. The chicken was huge but it had a bone. The mac n cheese was okay but more fun- I prefer it over the rice. I think for birthdays they give free shots but i'm not too sure. I also saw parrot on their menu and that seems interesting so maybe i'll come back again!

Large enough to share and I enjoyed the drizzled sweet sauce and whole olives. Our entrees were: Palomilla Steak Platter (thin cut sirloin steak) and the Ropa Vieja (shredded flank steak). Both dishes were accompanied by white rice and we chose black beans and a side salad. This was the first time that I've seen Palomilla Steak presented totally cut into strips and it was a welcomed sight. The Ropa Vieja was perfectly seasoned and the amount of meat was thoroughly enjoyed.
