Fruity pebble ice cream
Hannah K.

I usually come here about once a month. The staff is okay -- not the friendliest, but at least there's no attitude. The ice cream itself is always tasty and they're usually pretty fast with orders. One thing I do notice is that the kitchen and seating area can be a bit messy. Since everything is made in front of you, I'd love to see more attention to sanitation and ingredient handling for peace of mind. Overall, it's a decent spot to grab rolled ice cream and enjoy a sweet treat . If this was helpful, please like

To not be able to use your credit card if you spend under $20 is a bit unheard of... luckily I had cash and we got their key lime pie rolled ice cream. It was a bit of a disappointment. Couldn't taste the lime flavor. Just tasted like cream with graham crackers. It was nice at least to get unlimited toppings

Seating is old

Great ice cream! Wish this place was better kept up. Employees had all lights off it looked dark. We asked if they could turn on the colorful lights, staff said they didnt know where control was. This used to be a vibe. Needs some up keeping.

After a long day, I needed to cool down, so I called in an order and picked it up in person at Negative 8. The process was quick and easy. The Fruity Pebbles ice cream hit the spot and honestly ended up being the highlight of my day. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors.

Red matcha + unlimited toppings

This is a decent dessert spot that serves rolled ice cream and is hidden in the corner next to Tokyo Central and Sweet Rice. They require a minimum of a $20 purchase so it's basically cash only if you only order one item. They have several tables and board games available. I ordered their Red Matcha which is matcha mixed with Oreo and it tasted pretty good although I expected there to be red beans from the name. They allow you to pick unlimited toppings when your order is called and I got strawberries, blueberries, mochi, and strawberry wafers on mine. Overall a nice spot to hang out with friends and grab dessert, but it does take a while for the order to come out especially on the weekends.

Citrus bloom green tea, horchata ice cream IG: @bobabitchess

I got the citrus bloom green tea, which came with slices of grapefruit, lemon, and orange. I was pleasantly surprised by how bright and citrusy this drink was; the citrus stood out a lot more than the sugar, which I appreciated. For me, a citrus tea is at its best when the sugar tones down some of the sourness but isn't so strong that the drink becomes syrupy and this place nailed it. The crystal boba was also a good middle ground between gummy and jelly-like. And on top of that, they made the drink with no ice for me even though they typically don't once I explained that I was going to drink the tea the next day and they even filled it to the top. Thankful that they were accommodating! I also tried the ice cream rolls in both horchata and Nutella/banana. The horchata one was really good -- lots of cinnamon flavor and a creamy texture. The Nutella banana one was disappointing because it had a waxier, less smooth texture that meant the rolls broke apart easily and were a bit harder to bite into, so I'd skip that flavor. - Audrey

I ordered the horchata ice cream. Which I really enjoyed. I was worried because I've tried horchata flavored ice cream from other places and pretty often am disappointed. Not from here though. I really enjoyed the flavor. It was pretty busy when I went so expect to wait a while if there are plenty of orders before you. They can only prepare 2 ice creams at a time. This is in a plaza which seems to get pretty busy but seems to be plenty of parking. Will definitely come again if in the area and craving ice cream.

Key lime pie Ice cream rolls!!

Tried this place out on a Friday night - it was packed! Definitely a very lively environment - lots of music, and lots of groups of people. There were many families with young kids as well as groups of college age kids playing board/card games. They also have games to borrow while you're there! They have a lot of hot fried foods (popcorn chicken, fries), boba drinks, and rolled ice cream. I went with the ice cream and decided on the Key Lime Pie flavor. You get to watch the folks there make it, but it did take a while - with so many people there, it took them 15 minutes to finish my order. At the end, you can put a limitless amount of toppings on them - mochi, Oreo, sprinkles, syrups, just to name a few. The ice cream was good, but wasn't the best I've had. The key lime pie flavor didn't have much of a lime flavor - mostly sweet cream - but every so often I would get a bitter bite of lime juice. I wouldn't recommend the key lime pie, but a lot of their other flavors looked great. I would come back, but I definitely would try another flavor. Also note: They don't accept credit card for orders less than $20. An ice cream is something like $9.80 after tax. It's a bit pricier, but you pay for the novelty + infinite toppings.

Came here after dinner. Open late and the chocolate monkey and strawberry. It's really good. Good price

omg! This was so yummy! Came here for dessert and haven't had rolled icecream in a while and this one impressed me. Out of the 10 or so flavors, I chose the strawberry one. They will freeze cream and strawberry and roll it in front of you, so cool! I loved that they added a little bit of graham crackers because that matches so well with the strawberry flavor. Rolled icecream seemed a bit different from regular icecream, it had this lighter and milkier feel to it. it was around $11 with tax for rolled icecream and unlimited toppings (to the top of the cup) Loved it overall

Came with the family for dessert. Everyone got rolled ice cream which was good. I preferred a drink so I got the Hokkaido tea with boba. NEVER ever get the Bubba here! These things are so hard you can't even bite into it!! Worse boba ever

This place is great! They have some pre-made roll-up ice cream flavors and they're about $9. The strawberry one has strawberry and graham cracker. They have free toppings too and the only rule is that you can add as many toppings as you want as long was it fits in the cup! They also have board games for y'all to play while you wait and/or eat. We played mini cornhole

Why is there a $20 minimum charge for a credit card transaction? I've NEVER heard of such a high "minimum" charge to justify the credit card fees for the cost of running a business. I still tipped your staff. Please reconsider lowering your "minimum"

What surprised me most was that they carry different types of chestnuts. I preferred the smaller ones, which were softer, more moist, and sweeter. The larger ones were firmer, but you can buy them already peeled, which honestly feels like a luxury if you've ever battled chestnut shells before. I thought it was pronounced Handel's like a last name should be, but a security guard, who I asked for directions to get to this place, called it Handel's like one calls the things one grips in bikes. Which is the correct way of saying it? I leave that up to you dear reader, as well as what ice cream flavor you want, and whether you want this ice cream in a cone or bowl, or made into a milkshake. However you take your ice cream I will say that you will likely enjoy it more in the resting place that Manhattan beach offers. As my pictures show, I took my ice cream (which was in a waffle cone, witha chocolate rim, decorated with peanuts for some extra light crunch) and I enjoyed it in a bonfire that I did not have to light. In the background, the Nice to Meet you song by Miles Smith gently wafting in the background. The gentle breeze, the notes around, the taste of damn good ice cream, all conspired to help me feel relaxed in place and mood. Thus, if one wants Handel's and also a place to sit that feels right for ice cream, the Manhattan Village one offers all that, at least it did for me. This Handel's is not a walk-in brick location. it is a window. The person who helped us out on this day was Jasmine, and of course her service was princess like. For instance, she showed me the difference between milkshake sizes and the difference between them is significant to the point where a large one can serve two. View the pictures and I invite you to disagree, if one can. Their ice cream selection is lengthy, and creative, and considerate--- they have sugar free and vegan options. So they have a large and ample array of flavors that will satisfy most if not all sweet tooths. I wanted to take the time to celebrate this Handel's for its location because the environment created the ice cream experience. So it was not the cherry on the top, it was the cone, that supported the ice cream.

I was right, but that still may be a bit unusual in SoCal, where we all scream for ice cream all year 'round. Large parking lot was mostly empty when we arrived and only filled in slightly for other businesses by the time we left, around 3:15pm. It took a minute for us to get noticed by the one person working, who we called out to a few times. She took our orders and got to work filling them. While we waited, I did a bit of inter webs research on why Bruster's resembled the same set up as Handel's. Turned out Bruce (the man behind Bruster's) worked for Handel's and had some of his own ideas about changes to the Handel's way of operating that, let's just say, Handel's wasn't open to trying. So Bruce went his own way, building on the same concept of ice cream made fresh daily in-house, unique flavors and a walk-up window. Interesting. Also interesting was the small portion in my waffle bowl. It was meant to be Medium, 2 flavors, but it looked more like a small, 2 flavors. In addition, the 2 scoops were offset with one flavor hanging over the edge, rather than in the bowl. Wonky. Lots of room in the bowl, why was it hard to aim the scoops into it? No one was being rushed, no line forming. This is a treat. Something special. Take a beat for the presentation. Especially if you're not giving full scoops. Make that bowl look like you filled it as best you can with the small amount you're dishing out. I haven't had this experience at other Brewster's, so maybe it's just how this location is run, or maybe just the person on this day. Don't think I'll return to find out. Cheers! "CC"
