Cute decor, great neighborhood, and ample room inside. Salt & straw has rotating flavors, unlimited samples, and warm waffle cones that never fail to satisfy my sweet tooth. I got the vegan freckled mint chip in a waffle cone. It has the best texture, creamy mint with speckles of chocolate flakes (and it doesn't have an icy texture like most vegan flavors). I also got the cookie dough in a cup. It is a classic! Even though it was busy, very friendly and fast service.

The Baseline: The Ice Cream/Gelato Baseline consists of having quality dairy product, variety of flavors/mix-ins, and serving quantity for the price. Handles goes over the baseline on all marks. Food: The ice cream at Salt and Straw is an experience that is pretty different than other creameries out there. I have been going to Salt and Straws for the past few years starting with Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper and Pear & Blue Cheese. The non-traditional ingredients is what makes this a fun ice cream shop. This time around I had some holiday flavors Chewy Molasses Cookies with Rum Carmel and Cinnamon Snickerdoodle. I also love the Chocolate Gooey Brownie and the Coffee & Love Nuts. The Ice Cream really needs one of the Waffle bowls to really punch it all forward. Service: Service was friendly and fast in preparing my order. I was offered free samples of the different ice creams which is great if you want to taste test. Ambiance: The shop has a fun, whimsical look but not full on Willy Wonka whimsical. More of a Main Street USA vibe for the displays. The shop is well organized to move people through from entry to ordering to eating. No real seating inside but that is okay because the pier is just down the way to enjoy there.

Located just up the hill from Manhattan Beach Pier. This is a must-stop, whether you're walking the beach or just craving something sweet. It's a popular spot for a reason, especially with their rotating monthly flavors that keep things interesting beyond the classics. February's lineup leans heavily into chocolate, but they still have their classics such as salted caramel, chocolate, and vanilla. If you're torn, the staff is always incredibly friendly and happy to offer samples, which makes choosing part of the fun rather than a chore. Their waffle cones and bowls are a standout as well; fresh, sturdy, and really complements the ice cream without overpowering it. There's often a line, but service moves efficiently and stays upbeat. Whether you're new or a repeat visitor, this place definitely gives you a reason to come back month after month to see what new flavors are coming next.

Salt & straw is located on Manhattan Beach Blvd right near the pier. We tried out couple flavors at the store. The employee seemed like in a bad mood, wasn't very welcoming. Would love to see Salt & Straw do better to make their workplace enjoyable and make the employees happier. I got the double scoop in a chocolate brownie waffle cone. The chocolate waffle cone tasted like cocoa pebbles cereal in every way. I got their raspberry white chocolate cheesecake and regular chocolate. The raspberry white chocolate cheesecake is their limited rotating flavor and super delicious! Interior is nice, modern and welcoming. Lots of foot traffic since it's next to the pier. Would like to see this place become an enjoyable workplace.

Stopped by Salt & Straw on a weekend and waited about 10 minutes in line due to the fireworks show, which is not bad at all, and totally worth it. I went for a double scoop of honey lavender and salted caramel. Both were rich and flavorful, though a bit too sweet by the end. I thought these 2 flavors were quite complimentary of each other! My friends got their "tacolate" (cinnamon ice cream in a chocolate-dipped waffle cone) and were obsessed. Pro tip: if you're just picking up pints to go, you can skip the main line which is super convenient. The staff was super friendly and patient while we sampled a bunch of flavors. Definitely a fun treat spot with unique combos and a chill vibe.

Salt & Straw definitely has more interesting and unique flavors. I've been had this at another location, but it was my boyfriend's first time trying it. The ice cream was the right amount of creamy and not too heavy. The worker seemed very annoyed that we were sampling flavors, but I feel like that's part of the experience at an ice cream shop. The customer service can definitely be improved.

Always a favorite. Their coffee and love nuts is by far the best specialty ice cream flavor we've ever had. You can't go wrong with it. Their other flavors are fun and yummy as well. You can sample as many as you want!

I'm not in LA much, but when I am I make it a mission to visit Salt & Straw no matter where in LA I'm staying. Some ice cream flavors are a little weird or a miss, but 95% of the time it's a hit. Salt & Straw has enough flavors to keep you coming and still feel like there's so many more to try. The ice cream is sweet without having that odd artificial sugary taste, and the flavors are very prominent. Everyone that works at this spot is nice, energetic, and always willing to give you a taste of a flavor you're curious about, so give each one that piques your interest a shot! This location being near the beach gives it a very calming and relaxing vibe. Go get a couple of scoops and walk down to the pier and enjoy your time!

This location is a couple of blocks up the hill from the Manhattan Beach pier. The location is pretty much designed for people to stand in line to order ice cream. The seating area is very limited inside. It troubles me to come to places like this. I always have a flavor in mind that I want to order. Then I see the menu with the limited edition flavors. And even though they are closing soon, the cheerful employee encourages me to try a flavor, and then other, and another. And therein lies the problem. Indecision kicks in, and the flavor I had my heart set on ends up to be 3 different flavored scoops, and a waffle cone and maybe a pint to go. Ugh.

Salt & Straw is an ice cream shop in Manhattan Beach that is a must-stop if you're ever in the area. This place blends artisanal creativity with classic comfort in the most delightful way. The location can't be beat, and your taste buds and Instagram feed will leave satisfied. My Overall Rating - 4 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Nestled just a short walk from the sand and surf, the Manhattan Beach location is prime real estate for both your taste buds and your Instagram feed. On a beautiful Southern California day, it's hard not to stop here to enjoy the sweet treats and weather together. 1 Star. Service - The staff here are super patient while I sampled a few flavors (because how can you not?), and they genuinely seemed excited to talk about each one. You can tell they know their stuff and love what they do. The line moved quickly, and even with a crowd, it felt like a chill, welcoming experience. 1 Star. Food - After tasting a few delicious flavors, I went with the Cinnamon and Snickerdoodle ice cream. OH. MY. GOODNESS. This flavor is a creamy, dreamy masterpiece. The base is ultra-rich and velvety, with a warm cinnamon swirl that wraps around your tongue like a cozy blanket. Then come the chunks of snickerdoodle cookies that were soft, chewy, and perfectly spiced. It's like your favorite holiday cookie got a gourmet ice cream makeover. Every bite was indulgent, nostalgic, and just a little bit. Like most artisanal ice cream shops, it's not cheap, but I don't think the rent is either. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. This isn't just a one-time treat, it's a repeat-worthy destination. With rotating seasonal flavors and that unbeatable beachside location for IG photos, Salt & Straw has earned a spot on my go-to list. Next time I'm at Manhattan Beach, I'll also be at Salt & Straw.

Always an adventure of flavors! Highly recommend tasting a few before making your choice.

Everytime I see a Salt and Straw, my car automatically pulls over. That's what happened here. Got to try some new flavors this time and they were great as expected. I love all their flavors but especially the ones that have fruit in it.

The food is super clean and healthy, but…read morestill filling--tons of great high-protein, well-balanced options that don't feel like you're sacrificing taste. The location is perfect too. You get that laid-back beach vibe with a great view, and it's ideal whether you're grabbing a quick bite before heading back to the sand for volleyball or settling in for a chill remote work session. It really feels like a local staple--easy, consistent, and exactly what you want when you're trying to eat well but still enjoy the whole Manhattan Beach lifestyle.

I had lunch at The Hive because highly recommended the "healthy-tasty food". I wasn't sure what to…read moreexpect, but my expectations were met! All the servers were warm and beyond the usual helpfulness. My friend saw an empty table they needed to be wiped so she asked a server for a towel to wipe it. He immediately said, "No, I'll do it." And he grabbed a towel and wiped in extra well with a smile. Two of us ordered the Buddha vegan bowl (9/10; quinoa was fluffy, tofu was tasty but a little firm for me, everything else about it was fresh and well-done. The mushroom serving was my favorite part.) My friend ordered the Beef Macro bowl (9/10: beef was the best part and everything else was good. The wild rice was tender; but it tastes "healthy"). My last friend ordered the salmon bowl (9/10: all of us raved about the salmon. Had the same wild rice. I liked it but my friend said it was too soft for her. The rest of the items that came with it were similar and tasty). Before I left, Molly helped me order a mushroom reishi hot chocolate drink. Molly was so sweet and helpful. She recommended the homemade almond milk. (8/10). The ambiance was warm and cozy. I loved the multi-level structure. Therefore, the name, "The Hive". Cute design and a good place to bring a computer and have a quiet spot to chill.
