The space is bright and small with a lot of natural light and a few places to sit. It took a few minutes as we had to wait in line. When it was our turn we ordered. One of my adult kids ordered a mint chip ice cream in a waffle cone. My other adult kid ordered an ice cream cookie sandwich. My husband ordered the gooey butter cake. I tried a taste of everything. The mint chocolate chip was really good. You could taste the mint flavor, and the chocolate chips were a good size while the ice cream was smooth. It was a nice mix of flavor. The ice cream sandwich was delicious. It was super sweet. The cookies were nice and warm and the ice cream was perfect. The gooey butter cake was fantastic. You could taste the butter flavor and feel the soft texture of the cake melt in your mouth. Wow! So good, never had this type of thing before. It certainly enhances the traditional ice cream sandwich! Those two Nutella cookies alone were amazing, put a scoop of delicious ice cream in the middle and it was heaven. When they asked me if I wanted it warmed, I figured, why not! Very poor customer service. The first thing the guy said to me when I arrived, instead of greeting me or even saying hello, was, "Are you DoorDash?" Seriously? That was the first interaction. As a Latino customer, I found that assumption disrespectful and honestly racist. Why would you immediately assume I'm a delivery driver instead of a customer? Whether that was his intention or not, that is how the interaction came across. Staff need to improve not only their customer service, but also how they approach and make assumptions about people who walk through the door. The staff scoop your ice cream quickly and this is a great local spot to walk up to as you stroll along the Hermosa beach pier or the downtown Hermosa beach area. I got the strawberry shortcake here and it's nicely made. Not too strong in strawberry flavor I'd say. The shortcake is a nice hint of flavor. The Baked Bear has some fantastic cookies. I have previously been to a location in Burbank and this one hit the spot just the same. Inside has a couple of seating spots, but it's quite small. We asked for a double scoop and they loooaded it up. I appreciate that in today's economy. Ice cream is good, but tbh cookies are even better. I was in and out within 5 minutes and - after taking my Yelp-worthy photo - took my first bite. WOWZA was the ice cream absolutely delicious! And the gooey butter cookie?!?
