The aesthetic is sooOoOoOo cute. We loveeeee her. It's new and the overall ambiance of being there is so lovely. Feels like I'm somewhere else if that makes sense. I had ordered the baci di dama. Now the girl didn't know what I was asking for so I was like oh no internal panic am I in the wrong, cue freaking out but luckily another lady overheard and switched and made the baci di dama for me. Baci di dama 4/5. I prefer hazelnut gelato only. The vanilla was not anything super special or crazy to me. But that hazelnut.... The hazel... nut.... I need privacy for the next time I go and order that hazelnut gelato. The wafer cookies were buttery and crunchy with a nice snap to it, I started using it like chips and guac except cookie and gelato! Overall presentation was beautiful. Def will order again. I also tried the creme brûlée flavor... mmm... not exactly something I would get again. It does emulate the flavor quite well but I'd rather just have an actual creme brûlée if I'm being real. I've been there several times. The first time couple of times on a Wednesday was great, then I found that Fridays work best since the young man making the coffee is consistent, professional and really customer service oriented. Unfortunately today was a complete miss. I asked for my usual, a small Americano. Coffee was so watered down, bitter and zero coffee aroma. Lady making the coffee not trained, no understanding of ratio control. Also, I come here to relax in the morning, hear the great music track that they play, a soft jazzy type of music, unfortunately all I heard this morning was droppings of trays, washing trays and all kinds of kitchen noise. Door was open, and the girls at the front were oblivious to their surroundings. A waste of $11.00 today, not sure if I will return. Also, tip is provided based on quality of food and service and after. Your register prompting a tip before I even taste anything is ridiculous, is almost as if your barista waits to see how much I tip and decides if the coffee should be made poor, fair, or excellent. I picked up my own coffee, nothing is brought to me like the other baristas did. $4.99 for a single americano is already too much. read more

ive had ugo bookmarked for awhile now ive walked by it multiple times but finally had a moment to visit and have been here twice , within a week :D service is great space is gorgeous, inviting and makes you feel like you stepped into your European vacation for like 5mins ..lol love the indoor/outdoor feel the seating is chic my point of my visit was to try their european hot chocolate! OMGGG , 12/10! it is so rich, flavorful, smooth and just so delicious. i was craving it a few days later and had to go back to get another one! oh, also to try out their gelato! which the gelato is made in house, fresh daily! they give samples, so you just gotta ask! i tried a few but ended up loving giandua, which is sweet chocolate and hazelnut. my girl didnt make my gelato as neat as the other gal, but thats okay lol they do have a few food items and also offer a few different desserts. ill be back to try those.. parking: parking in the residential streets or metered parking lot/spaces read more

Stopped by Ugo in Redondo Beach for a sweet treat and had the best experience thanks to Esperanza. She was helping us out and was seriously so sweet and helpful. I was originally looking at a cheesecake flavor and trying to pair it with pistachio, but she recommended Romeo e Giulietta and that was exactly the flavor combo I was looking for. She let us sample a few different flavors and even shared combinations other customers usually get, which I really appreciated. We also ordered a cannoli, and while it was okay, it didn't have the mini chocolate chips like a typical cannoli, which felt a little odd. I personally wouldn't get the cannoli again. That said, I would 100% come back for the gelato and honestly, for Esperanza alone because she was truly that kind. The shop is only about two-ish blocks from the beach, so it's perfect to grab gelato and walk over to watch the waves or catch the sunset for a little sweet treat moment. European cafe vibes in the heart of Redondo Beach! Ugo is the newest and cutest cafe in Riviera Village, and you definitely need to check it out! They make all their gelato in house, have a wide variety of pastries and drinks to choose from, along with some savory items like their egg sandwich and their chicken pesto sandwich. The gelato has the lightest and fluffiest texture, and their coffee is bold and flavorful. My favorite items were the cannolis, gelato, iced Nutella latte, tiramisu, and egg sandwich, but honestly you can't go wrong with anything you choose. They're walking distance from the beach and are in the heart of Riviera Village in Redondo Beach, so I definitely recommend stopping by! It's a small shop, with four tables total indoors. Three small round tables for two and one larger square table that seat four. The family ahead of me in line purchased gelato. I ordered a small latte with oat milk for here. It was served in a ceramic cup with spoon and saucer. It had a bold flavor, as advertised. No dessert today, but they look delicious. There was only one person behind the counter, but he was friendly and efficient. I didn't wait long. No restroom that I could see. Parking: Metered, street parking. Ugo is a fun, new little coffee/gelato house located right in the heart of Riviera Village. They offer a nice selection of coffees, teas, and some interesting pastry items, along with a nice selection of gelato treats. Plus, they also offer a few sandwiches. This is a easy place to come in and grab a treat. You can walk in, get what you want to-go, or sit down at one of their very few tables and enjoy it inside the establishment. Located on Catalina Avenue, this business is easy to find. There's plenty of parking all over the area. There's metered parking along Catalina, and the various side streets, as well as the large parking lot situated off of Avenida Del Norte, where you will also find metered parking. One thing to keep in mind about this business is that they do not have any restroom facilities. So, you'll have to find another location if you want to use that type of facility. I don't know how they get away with this, because according to the California Retail Food Code, all restaurants offering food to eat on site must provide restroom facilities and/or have a specific sign stating the fact that they have no restroom facilities. But, somehow this is the case. That's just something to keep in mind. Overall, this is a good place to find a nice selection of gelato, some enjoyable coffee orientated drinks, a nice little afternoon treat, or an easy place to grab that to-go item that you can enjoy on the move. read more

Heard this place through Instagram. Decided to try out this place. I asked my friend who works at the building across the street and she has not heard of this place. Ugo sells gelato, pastries, and drinks. I got the 3 scoop gelato ($8.99), eclair, and their large iced cafe nutella ($6.99). Not sure how much eclair cost but my total with tax and tip was $30. Gelato is good, they give fair portion for the price you pay. The iced latte was okay. I thought it was lightly flavored and the large size is like 12-16oz with half ice. I thought it was pricey. Eclair wasn't that sweet, although there were a lot of filling which i liked. I really liked the gelato here and the atmosphere is very welcoming and lively. read more

This place was recommended to me and my friend by the server at Unico Tokyo Pasta They have a wide variety of flavors and some of the getalo (or all I don't rmbr) is made fresh in the morning I got crème brûlée and it was SAURRRRRR good. I usually don't get getalo often so I forgot how creamy and soft the texture is I also devoured this. Never ate a gelato so fast. This is our spot for gelato!! They don't shame you for trying several gelato flavors and the service in general is great. Juliana (sp?) helped us out and she was friendly and great with the kids. My daughter got the French vanilla, my son got the cheesecake, hubby got the straciatella and I got Nocciola. It honestly reminds me of gelato from Italy. I kid you not. The cafe's vibes also remind me of Italy. The owner, Ugo, was also there and he is awesome! Friendly and welcoming and I love that he visits his cafes and restaurants. Amazing location, as it's in the Riviera Village. If you end up having a meal before, make sure the kiddos use the bathroom there since there isn't a restroom at Ugo, unfortunately. But I'm also guessing people eat their gelato pretty quickly, so are usually in and out fast! No question we will be back! read more

It is a beautiful Saturday morning in Redondo and stopped by Ugo (I think they're known most for their gelato) to read (very inviting BTW). Was not expecting to order anything (they graciously allowed me to stay) but the kindest server came up and asked "are you sure you don't want anything?" I simply said "surprise me." The atmosphere was good, the drinks and gelato were delicious. The staff was very nice. We were disappointed by the quality of the food which was not freshly prepared on the spot. It was refrigerated and looked like it had been sitting a while. The lettuce and celery were browned and we needed more dressing to make it palpable which was not available to us because everything had been premade and only one small dressing pack came in each plastic container that the salad was served in. The prosciutto Panini was better tasting and warmed in an oven. I would NOT recommend going there for lunch especially if you want a salad. read more

The good: They sold all kinds of fun gelato here as well as various panettones! They even had panettone flavored gelato! I got that as well as the gingerbread flavored gelato. I loved the seasonal decor, flavors, and the quaint and upscale cafe feel inside. It's small but has an open feel with the indoor/outdoor patio area and is great for people-watching. We got a napoleon and another cake slice as well. I loved the variety of pastries/cakes they had. Their location is prime as they're walking distance from the beach and they're in a great walkable street with cute businesses. I'd love to come back to try more gelato flavors. One recent rainy morning on the hunt for Christmas ornaments brought us to Ugo. The little shop stood out because of its bright colors and we liked the open layout with the front windows of the shop opening up to the sidewalk / patio. We ordered a cafe latte with Nutella and a macchiato. Here's where my bf and I messed up. We thought the macchiato was going to be a latte, but the servers gave us a single shot! We should have realized before hand, but alas we made the mistake so I just want to provide an heads up, when it comes to Ugo's coffee, they are a more traditional. Be careful and clear about what you would like. We ended up adding the macchiato shot to the latte and shared. It was delicious anyways! The staff was very friendly and helpful, zero complaints. My bf's dad lives walking distance to Ugo and kept raving about how it was the best ice cream he's ever had so I had to try it! I love the cute interior. The workers giving out samples are so friendly and smiley, which makes you feel less awkward when you're asking for lots of samples. I loved the creamy but thick consistency of the flavors. All the flavors are rich and delicate. It tastes like a delicacy, not a guilty pleasure. I loved their Italian bread flavor the most because it tasted like an elevated vanilla. My bf and his dad swears by the hazelnut. I'm definitely getting hazelnut next time! It was heavenly. We went on a Sunday and it was packed! This place is going to be so successful :) read more

Have been multiple times for Gelato and have to say it is amazing!! Great service and nice atmosphere. I only dinged a star because today we went and got the hot chocolate they advertise out front. We had been excited but were very disappointed as it is truly more of a pudding than hot chocolate. So thick you cannot drink at all, you have to use a spoon. They know this as they do give you a spoon. Guess it was just unexpected, more like eating the center of a lava cake than having hot chocolate. Everything else we enjoy here. read more

I'm generally not one to leave reviews, but we've had too many issues here not to say something. Most recently, we stopped by just before 8:30pm (they close at 9). We ordered our gelato, paid, and as we turned around to sit down, the employee told us we weren't allowed to sit inside because they were "preparing to close." We were honestly shocked. We had just spent over $30 and simply wanted to sit for 10 minutes to enjoy it. There was still a full 30 minutes before closing. If that's the policy, it should be clearly communicated before people order, not after they've already paid. It would be completely understandable if it were 5 minutes before closing, but half an hour? Especially considering gelato takes maybe 10-15 minutes to eat. To make it even more frustrating, there were still other people sitting inside. If you're planning to stop by after dinner and it's within 30 minutes of closing, don't expect to sit and enjoy it--you'll likely be rushed out (after paying $8+ per person). Unfortunately, the gelato itself isn't good enough to make up for that kind of experience or attitude. read more

My son has a mild allergy to tree nuts, and we always ask about nut ingredients. After eating the chocolate gelato, which should not have nuts and which we were assured did not, he had the worst allergic reaction he's ever had and had to be taken to the ER due to nausea and vomiting. Now, no establishment that serves both nut and nut-free flavors can guarantee there's no risk of cross contamination, but he obviously got a large amount. As such I would seriously question the practices and employee training of this establishment and caution anyone with even mild food allergy to any served ingredients to stay far away. read more
