I needed to get my script transferred from Rite Aid to this place for insurance reasons. I was told it was going to take an hour to process and fill because they had to call them and it needed to be faxed over. I understood this, did some errands, came back an hour later, only to find they never called. The staff ended up arguing a little bit amongst themselves, With one of the pharmacy techs saying "I don't have the number" and another saying "I'm really busy" to the woman at the counter, who literally used the computer to look the number up for them and did all she could to help make this simple, everyday situation work normally. In the end, I had to go to Rite Aid myself and pick up a copy of the script, and it still took a while for them to process everything. In all, I lost two entire hours to this terrible place. The woman at the counter was very nice and pushed the people filling the prescriptions to do their jobs, but holy god will I never come here for new prescriptions again. read more

This is a great place to get vaccines and covid tests. I was a walk in for my booster vaccine (because I was a chicken), but they still took me. I believe it is because they are so organized, and I went to CVS and Rite Aid first who were so unorganized I had to leave. The designated lines for services is a plus. The nurse, Christian I believe is responsible for keeping things organized, making sure everyone is taken care of, and making you feel comfortable. Even though I am a big baby, Christian reassured me that he had me. And he did. The shot was fast and only a little pinch. This is the guy you want to get your vaccines from! Again, forget those chain pharmacies. Neergaard and Christian will take care of you. read more

I'm not surprised to see so many low reviews here. Urgent care had to send my prescription over three times and have several calls with the pharmacy to confirm they had received it. When I called I spoke to a rude woman who sounded like she didn't give 3 shits if she was dealing with people who might need their meds or not. Three days passed until my script was delivered - which I was unable to receive because I was at work. I had asked that it was delivered after 4:30 the day after it was sent over by urgent care. I had to tell the delivery man when he called that I was very sorry that they had wasted his time. Go there for soap, shampoo or any other bath or beauty product - they have a great selection. Get your prescriptions filled by one of the chain drugstores where an automated service at least sounds polite and you know your meds will be there when you need them. And this doesn't apply to the 7th Avenue location - never have had anything less than a good experience there. read more

Never in my life have I experienced such a lack of professionalism at a pharmacy, or really any business for that matter. My wife was very sick and her dr called in her rx. It was my first time using this pharmacy as I'm new to the neighborhood and wanted to support a local business. I called to make sure they had gotten the rx and explained it was an emergency. Aside from my wife being sick to the point of hardly being able to move, she was at home with our two very young children (1 month and 18 months) as I needed to get her medicine. They told me the wait was 30-40 min, which is a fairly long time to wait compared to most pharmacies, but I was ok with that. After about an hour, my wife called and pleaded with me to come home as she was really struggling. I then asked how much longer they thought it would be. The employee at the register seemed uncomfortable and wouldn't answer my question. He kept looking toward the back. That's where the pharmacist was apparently sitting, refusing to work or taking impromptu break (not sure). I then heard the other older employees (maybe managers/owners?) telling the pharmacist to please make the script and that I was waiting. 3 of them were asking her. She refused. I waited a bit and asked the cashier again, pleading with him that it was an emergency and just to give me a timeframe. He again was very uncomfortable and didn't know what to say. I finally see the pharmacist get up. She looks at me and smiles as if to say, "ha ha F U." She simply didn't give an F and clearly the rest of the staff was not pleased that she wasn't working. When handing me the rx, the cashier says, "I'm sorry. She's crazy" and makes the crazy sign next to his head. I honestly don't even know what to say. It was shocking. Part of me was worried I didn't even get the right rx or she gave us something different to f with us. As a member of the medical community, they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. My son was in the hospital and we went to fill a script they kept telling us that we didn't have insurance to have it filled.. only to find out that they where inputting the number incorrectly. No apology!! When we brought the glucose meter to the hospital to use it was not working. The next day we went back to explain and they would not help us saying that we needed to contact the manufacture...horrible customer service. Win: Their pharmacy is open 24 hours which is good to know if you need to refill your asthma or Viagra Rx at 3AM. I hope I don't stay in Brooklyn to the age where I need Viagra. They also have a toy store (not of the vibrating variety) on the second floor that's open during normal day hours. I find a lego set to be very relaxing when dealing with very painful hemorrhoids. Eh: The pharmacy counter is usually pretty friendly. The front counter is a dice roll. That's okay register lady please finish your phone call for the next three minutes. I'll just peruse these scented candles and mouthwash. Prices are decent and it's a good alternative to Rite Aid when you wanna spend your $$$ locally. read more

I started going here after the nearby CVS turned out to be the worst pharmacy in all of NYC (okay, I'm assuming, but as someone who has spent way too much time dealing with pharmacies, I feel safe in making that assumption). Neergaard is pretty good, aside from the absolutely excessive wait times at all points of the day. I've never been consistently told 45-60 minutes before, so I've taken to, if possible, just calling my prescriptions in and going the next day. It's a mixed bag on the friendliness of the pharmacists, but I haven't had any issues! One less star solely for the ultra grumpy middle aged/slightly older woman I often see up front. Every time I've needed to make a non-pharmacy purchase, she's been there, and I swear she despises her job. I'll never forget the time I politely asked for a bag for an item I purchased and she sighed at me and gave me a dirty look. SO SORRY I INCONVENIENCED YOU BY NEEDING SOMETHING TO HOLD MY PURCHASE IN, Queen of Neergaard Pharmacy! OK, that's my very first time yelping so i decided it should be something that really impressed me. And among all the hot spots I've chosen a pharmacy. That's right, a regular mom-and-pop drugstore - though it's more of a senor-and-senoritas place lol. I'm not a big fan of little places to begin with. But surprisingly they carry a huge selection of goodies - even hard-to-find Kérastase and Dermablend! This is the best drug store in the neighborhood. staffs are always nice and friendly. very helpful. and they always have what I'm looking for. it's great to have a drug store we can always count on near by. right? I like Neergaard Toys on 2nd floor as well. Don't go to Rite Aid on 10th. they are messy, poorly managed, prescriptions take forever, staffs are bunch of retards. don't waste your time and money there. They make a point of trying to not have people on line waiting for a considerable amount of time like CityMeds. Lisa Ruiz is amazing. She took care of my husband and myself. This pharmacy is the best. It has everything, from newborn baby supplies to medical supplies. I have gotten my annual flu shot there for several years. I have gotten my covid booster and shingles vaccine there. I always get my prescriptions here. The staff is professional, efficient and polite. AWFUL! I ordered a wheelchair from them- first they sent the wrong size. Then they told me I had to come return it- kind of impossible when I'm confined to a WHEELCHAIR! Then when they finally agreed to come exchange it, (after numerous phone calls with their snotty surgical department), they blew me off twice and said they lost my order. I was stuck waiting for them for 3 days- which I guess didn't matter because I couldn't leave the house without a working wheelchair! Now I'm in the process of returning it and it's the same thing! The guy called me to give ME attitude for not being there when he rang the bell. He was playing ring and run and waited there less than 2 minutes! I CAN'T WALK! Aside from that they gave my grandmother a snotty remark about 'god how can you spend so much money to just feel happy' because her insurance didn't cover her antidepressants. NEVER GO HERE!! I take care of an elderly gentleman with dementia. He's now incontinent requiring a nighttime external catheter. After more back-and-forths with the physicians office than I care to count, the catheter prescription was finally called in correctly. However, when I went to pick it up, not only did I not have this gentleman's Medicare information, but I was also unaware to have specified we needed a leg catheter bag, not a bed catheter bag for him. Ugh. Lisa Ruiz in the Med/Surg department was a life saver. Perhaps because this gentleman has been a Neergaards customer of their 7th Ave location for decades, she managed to get his Medicaid information (I'm not sure) and he only needed to sign some documents and she switched out the catheter bed bags for leg bags and this made all the difference! Lisa made a situation that took weeks (literally) to resolve much easier to deal with. Thank you, Lisa!! read more

I finally stormed out of Rite Aid for the last time. The doofus at the pharmacy with the coke bottle glasses asked the customer 2 people ahead of me ONE more stupid question, and I cracked. I stomped down the street to Neergaard, in the pouring rain. The line at the pharmacy counter was twice as long and three times as fast. The cashier was very nice, and told me it would be ready in an hour, but that I could come back whenever because they were open 24 hours. Score! Also, on Tax Day, I stood outside Rite Aid at 8:10 am, waiting for them to open at 8 am (yes, that's right). By 8:15, with no signs of life, I went to Neergaard, got my envelope, and was off. I recently went to this Neergaard location to pick up my prescription. Unfortunately my oxy meds prescribed for pain was not in my bag and I realized it wasn't in my bag until I opened the staple bag the next morning. I called the pharmacy to make them aware of the situation. They said because I signed for the meds there was nothing they could do. The staff at this place is incredibly rude. Tried to make a return and the cashier couldn't "figure it out" after futilely trying for 5 minutes then told me - complete with attitude for inconveniencing her - to go wait on line and try the return at another register. The cashier at the next register couldn't figure it out either and told me I'd have to come back during the week to see the manager. Really? I have to see a manager to make a $20 return complete with reciept on a purchase made only a few hours earlier? If this wasn't annoying enough, being given an attitude by two employees over a simple return was enough to make me shop elsewhere. So much for supporting a local business. The pharmacy staff and cashier could have been friendlier (although, the middle aged lady in the front that always says "baby", "sweetie", "love" and other cutesie names is nice). Their security guard walking through isles and watching people like hawk is a bit uncomfortable. I would not dare to steal anything, so I take offence to is. All that aside, the selection of product in this pharmacy/supplies store is unbelievable. You get a range of legit luxury European brands, old school (nowhere to be found but work the best) products, and interesting finds here. I love this place. Went to my local Chain Pharmacy. They told me to come back in 90 minutes. I got back. It wasn't even scanned in. I said forget. It's late. Let me go to Neergaards. No problem, they had it 30 minutes. Neergaards is not the closest pharmacy to me, but it's always the one that has things I need, that I can't seem to find anywhere else. I like this place. They have a good variety of hair care, skin care, and bath products, with many higher end and organic choices to choose from. I especially like their huge variety of Burt's Bees products; they offer a lot more than the CVS on 9th St. I was also able to find a nice variety of essential oils. Yay! I'm also a fan because everything is well stocked. CVS and Rite Aid always have empty shelves and are also a mess. Not here! I've never gotten a prescription here, so I can't comment on the actual pharmacy. But the checkout line is very quick and the staff is cordial (not super friendly, but not downright rude/inefficient as the Rite Aid nearby.) I always come here on a weekday evening. Since this is a 24 hour pharmacy, I'm not sure how the staff is in the middle of the night. My only complaint is that the aisles are very narrow and you get a cramped feeling walking through the store. But compared to the shit show that is Rite Aid, this inconvenience is allowed to be overlooked. read more

When I lost my insurance this place supplied me ever so useful steri-strip bandages on the unfortunate day I almost severed my finger on a foldable stool. I was a fool. If you haven't been to this pharmacy for all of your needs then you need to. I have shopped there for a while now and I have never had a bad experience with them. A wide selection of toys make it a collectors paradise especially when you are an action figure collector like me. I am always at ease when I go there for there is never a hassle for me to buy something and the staff is very helpful. One of the people there Mr. Noel Suarez is very amazing with toy knowledge and is someone worth coming back and doing business with him. His toy display is top notch and is inviting to many who walk by. For me to visit California and run into a native Californian tell me about their trip to NY and mention their awesome experience with Noel (not even realizing I know him) speaks great volume. I'm surprised there are good reviews for this place, because I've never experienced anything other than abysmal customer servic. I can only suppose that other pharmacies in the area are worse than third-rate. I've never waited less than 1/2 hour for a prescription that was called in. This morning I waited an hour for a prescription that was called in the previous night for an hour. As I inquired if there's a problem they'd say, "Just a minute, sir." That was a half hour after I showed up, with a half hour of waiting left to go. I complained once I got the drugs for my daughter (I wouldn't dare complain before hand) . The clerk pretended they had no idea I'd been there an hour, and suggested they didn't have my insurance information, and that's why - which - of course - they had. My guess is that this place has a manager during regular business hours. But for the rest of 'em - the times that make them the only 24 hour local pharmacy - the inmates run the asylum. read more

I have been trying to find zinc lozenges. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, every place I checked was sold out. I called Neergaard's on 5th Ave and the woman who answered the phone said they had them. I was shocked so I said, "Are you sure?" She said, "Yes." I said, "They're sold out every where. Are you positive?" She said, "Yes, we definitely have them." Imagine my thrill. My daughter hopped in an Uber and raced over there. She was there in 15 minutes. Guess what? They didn't have them. I called back furious. I got a different woman who apologized profusely and said they'd been sold out for a week. I explained my phone conversation and she said that they had 20 people answering the phone so she didn't know who did it. Well, I know they don't have that many employees because I go there all the time.
