This review is basically regarding the pharmacy in the back. When you need a prescription filled at 2 in the morning and you have just left the emergency room, this place has been a lifesaver! The pharmacists ate very helpful and knowledgable. The lady pharmacist especially takes time to answer your questions and treats each customer with the same courtesy and respect. That is a very important trait to have and she exhibits it well. The wait is anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to get a prescription filled, but while you wait you can browse their selections. They have a lot of homeopathic medicines and a big selection of Burt Bees products, and travel sized items of all kinds. I have seen products here that are less than rite aid, cvs, duane reade etc. It's always good to support your neighborhood business and neergaard is definitely the way to go. read more

Extra fun is the other customers, who have just cut in front of me in line more than once (with no comment from behind the counter). The Medical Supplies staff was so rude and unhelpful. I tried to order a breast pump here through insurance and had a bad experience dealing with their staff. I had several insurance questions and was very rushed over the phone and treated as though they were stupid questions. I never got my questions answered and ended up taking my business elsewhere and am very happy with my decision. read more

Neergaard is by far the best pharmacy in Park Slope. The shelves are always well stocked and they carry almost everything you would ever want to get at a drug store from cold medicine to humidifiers. The pharmacy itself is vastly superior to any of the chain competitors. They are very competent pharmacists and do things like compounding which Rite-Aid does not, for example. These guys may not be the most personable in the world (after all, they do have a tough job) but their service seems first rate. I had a recent problem with a prescription and one of the pharmacists, Rob, told me he would contact the doctor and take care of it. Later in the day, Rob called me back and the problem was solved; I could pick up my prescription. Can't ask for more than that! I admit, the line at the pharmacy counter can be tedious if you catch the wrong moment. But then again I guess that is an indicator of how many neighborhood people choose this pharmacy over another. The staff at first appearance seem a bit dour but if you smile and say hello, they return in kind. read more

I thought about giving the toy store here two stars because they were, admittedly, the only toy store in Park Slope that carried Lincoln Logs (... what is this world coming to?) but I just couldn't do it. When I originally went in to make my purchase the guy on the floor said they didn't have Lincoln Logs. On my way out the door, I happened to see a stack of them right in front of the register... so I bough them. Then, when I went back to return them (unopened, within 7 days like it says on the receipt and the salesperson told me when I conscientiously asked before purchasing) I was given attitude. I was not 'asked' if I'd opened them, I was ACCUSED of doing so. I actually had to pick up a fresh set in the store to show the guy that they were just packaged cheaply. It was really shocking... I have never been spoken to so rudely in a store before. If you're going into this toy store you're probably trying to support a nice, local business... do everyone a favor and walk a bit farther up 5th or 7th to any of the thousand other tiny, local toy shops in the neighborhood where it will be appreciated read more

Great pharmacy. Great customer service. I've always place my prescriptions here. The only complaint that I have (since it's a mom and pops place) is that they're expensive. So buy your personals deodorants lotions, etc. at the nearby pharmacies (CVS,Rite-Aid). read more

Close to my house, 24 hours a day. Clearly a winner. I totally despise Rite Aid because it's constantly messy and the staff is inept, and Neergaard is pretty much the opposite! The pharmacy comments are pretty much on the money, but DO NOT disregard the rest of this amazing drugstore! Reminiscent of Zitomer, they stock some of the more difficult to find and interesting products that you could imagine! Prices are not unreasonable - 12.00 for Marvis toothpaste, for example. If you have an emergency and are glad your doctor sees you until 8pm in Bay Ridge and you're wondering, "where in Park Slope can I get this prescription I need to start tonight at 8:24pm?" and this place is your answer. They have good products, tiny aisles, and I'll admit - I felt the staff was a little weird to me about my prescription, but that just could've been me. The only reason I ever come to this place is because my regular pharmacy is closed on Sunday's. Since its the only 24 hour pharmacy in brooklyn the wait is often ridiculous. It takes me 30-45 mins to drive here from my kids' doc and look for parking you would think by the time I get there my script (which was sent over electronically) would be ready but no it takes an additional 45 minute to an hour+ wait which I find unacceptable. When you have sick kids waiting at home who need their antibiotics there has to be a quicker way to get it. I've never waited more than 10 mins ever at my regular pharmacy even when handing over a paper prescription. read more

Need some random funky pharmacy product that only YOU can think of? Go HERE! It's a great small business with a huge store and just about everything you can imagine. The first time I visited, on the night after I ran the NYC marathon, I went to get medicine for my girlfriend and the guy behind the counter had run that morning, and came right to work. Good peeps and good products :) Since then, I don't venture down much, wander in when I pass by, to play with the stuff in the "Random Shizz" aisle and see if there are any good deals. And I popped upstairs to grab a toy I had seen in the window the last time, and was quite impressed by the massive selection of toys, games, and crafts. Continues their rally as the worst of the worst pharmacies ever: I got a script at 9 am, and asked them to deliver it around the corner to my home. Put on hold numerous times, told it would arrive between 10 and 12, called back when noon went by, I've been on hold for 10 minutes, have no idea if they'll ever get back to me. My doctor keeps on sending scripts to them; maybe I have to switch doctors.... read more

I just removed an old review I placed for Neergaard. I've always had a bad experience in the past with their customer service -and only used them because they were open 24 hours. However- I broke my toe this weekend - and when I limped in there and sat down in the back whining for assistance, a WONDERFUL SWEET HELPFUL lady came to my aid- in fact the whole back office staff was helping me! They sat me in a chair with my swollen purple toe up on a chair - they fetched me bandages, ice packs, an ugly protective boot - to keep my giant big toe safe from accidental touching, they rented me a wheelchair -- cheap for a month while I heal this thing. They were totally accommodating and I do believe they have recently hired some really lovely people. It's worth checking them out to see if they are different for you too. read more

Anytime I send a medication here for pick up it's never in stock! It would be nice if they didn't accept prescriptions for things that they don't carry so that you could send your important medications somewhere else for pickup instead of having to wait for them to order it read more

The worst people I. The world. I called to see if they had my medication in stock. They said but we only have 15 we get the rest in tomorrow and we can give you the 15 tonight and than come back for the rest great! So I get there first off the teller was such a rude jerk. They tell me 30 mins. So I wait. 2nd thing was I had MANUFACTURER COUPON, that they said they didn't take!!! So than he tells me my prescription would be 515$ I said but you only have 15 can I pay for that and than the rest when I come back he said "no you can have 15 or come back and get sixty not broken up"" he was the same person I talked to on the phone!! I hesitate to give this store only two stars because, in fact, the selection and the quality of a lot of their products are both really good. You can find high end soaps and hair products here, and hard-to-find beauty products of all kinds, actually. Also, I have always found the pharmacists knowledgeable and helpful. But the level of scrutiny you have to endure makes the shopping experience barely worth it. I was recently in the store, shopping for a few items. I was carrying two bags of purchases from other stores on Fifth Avenue. As I went from aisle to aisle, a man followed me, not even hiding the fact that he was watching me shop. I felt so self-conscious that I could barely focus on what I was looking for. I even made sure to hold the items I was going to purchase out in front of me so that he wouldn't think I was dropping them into one of the bags I was carrying. It was so unpleasant that I had to write about it here. What a disappointment! I love looking at fancy soaps and shampoos but being followed like that ruins it. No, I am not a shoplifter! This is a terrible pharmacy! I was stuck going here because they were the only people open late at night. But if you have the option of going anywhere else, go there! I am Jewish and the store seems to be run by Arabs. Normally that's never an issue. I mean, why should it be? But from the minute I walked in with my "kippa" I was treated nastily, and given dirty looks. The pharmacist did not call my name and purposely extended the amount of time it would take to get my medicine, when he knew I was in pain (I was picking up a pain-killer and asked if there was any way they could expedite the order). I was nice and courteous the entire time, but was treated terribly. I would list some of the other terrible things they did, but am worried they will identify me! After all they have my address! I hope I'm wrong and that racism and baseless ethnic hatred had nothing to do with the horrible treatment I received, but I doubt it. Stay away. read more

Their selection of baby and child-friendly OTC medicines is the best in the neighborhood. They also have a pretty good selection of baby gear on the 2nd floor - and some on the first as well. I wish I would have looked here before thinking I needed to order something from Amazon or go into Manhattan - I do now! This is the closes 24 hours pharmacy to my apartment so it gets cred for that. The prices are surprisingly low for over the counter stuff, which I also like. Unfortunately their selection in certain areas is lacking (like in tissues, which is a very important product for me) and they seem to have an annoying habit of screwing up my boyfriend's prescriptions. I can't even begin to count the ways in which Neergaard is better than any of the chain competitors. It's well run, staffed, stocked and easy to navigate. Their prices are fair and their selection seems to be carefully chosen. For healthcare needs I can't imagine dealing with anyone but a local company and a face that knows me. Was here at midnight on a Saturday night getting an EpiPen for my daughter. Oh, my, goodness...the riff raff that was in there. It was surreal. I thought John Quinones was going to walk out at any minute. The night shift should get paid time and a half and someone should make a reality TV show here. The reason for the five stars is because the entire staff at the pharmacy (with the exception of the actual pharmacist who was a little curt) was seriously amazing. They showed the patience and assertiveness of the counter people on Parking Wars while also being rather polite. I couldn't find my insurance information and they patiently worked with me until I figured things out. In the end, I almost paid $600+ out of pocket and ended up paying only a $25 co-pay. Today I went in to Neergaard in Park Slope back to the area that handles garment fittings and the like and was instantly helped by Lisa Ruiz who was not only kind and attentive but SO knowledgeable in the ordering of my garments for me that I, for years, went to some specialist to and ALWAYS had the hardest time getting them ordered, and just right in front of me Lisa called them up and handled what is usually such a hassle for me in 15 minutes, if that. She has made my year and I am so grateful that I can now go to them/her for my garments. So so on her game. Bravo Lisa. Kicking myself I haven't gone to them sooner. read more

Normally I love supporting local businesses, But I was in the toy store upstairs had just spent $20 and was waiting for the elevator with my 5 and 3 year old who were talking about how there was a wrapper in an alien egg (that looks like a giant trash can btw) my kids were touching it because it's a TOY store and they weren't being destructive either. and a man came out I think the owner and said hey that's $600 can your kids not touch that!! And he was so nasty but I said okay because I wasn't going to argue with a grown man child with my actual kids. But as he went back he must have been told he was rude or something cause I hear him loudly proclaiming that's $600 and he doesn't care. Why is a $600 dollar alien egg next to an elevator and stairs in a toy store with no sign to not touch on it. And he was extremely rude to a paying customer so my advice is if you have kids go to a different toy store read more

So I'm use to filling my prescription here and they are good because they are open 24/7. Now I don't take all my medicine so I never had an issue. BUT!!!! My grandfather, who has dementia and needs all his meds needs to drink all his meds. That's when I began to notice that they do not give you all the pills as the doctor prescribed. Not once but multiple times. I don't know what nefarious activity the are carrying out but if you must go there count your pills right at the register when they hand it over. read more

You should thank god this is one of the very few, if not the only, pharmacies in Brooklyn that's open 24 hours. I'm most definitely a fan! I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've found myself fresh out of the hospital with no where to get my prescriptions filled. Neergaard pharmacies saved me today and I'm sure it will again in the future. Considering that I had my prescription filled at 2am today and that the pharmacy seems to have anything a person could possibly ever want, I'd say it was pretty freaking fantastic. Very nice and neighborhood-y customer service. It's a big old fashioned pharmacy, with lots of cosmetics, toys, essential oils, hair tonics, organic stuff, etc.. Great toy store upstairs. I found the staff to be charming and full of Brooklyn character. The the cashier was gruff but super accommodating, and very sweet to my 6 year old daughter. Love it. And open 24 hours. Like others, I have tried to use this pharmacy in lieu of the chains....but they repeatedly were unable to fill vitally important pain medication on time. One thing that is inexcusable is telling a post-surgical patient that their pain medication will be filled, and then not being able to fill it with a week's notice. Duane Reade only needed 24 hours notice. Cute store for picking up gifts and the basics...but for critical prescriptions, I would go elsewhere. read more

They are great!! One of the last of the privately owned pharmacies in NY. They may seem cautious at first. But it is a 24 hour business and have been here for decades back when the South Slope was quite dangerous at night. Once they get to know you they'll bend over backwards to help you. read more

Pharmacists are incredibly slow and lost my perscription 3x. I want to support local businesses but will avoid coming back.

I would love to give them two reviews: one for the front of the store and one for the pharmacy. Everyone who works at the front is friendly and makes me glad to support local business. Recently I had three illnesses back to back and had need of a pharmacy for the first time in years so I, again wanting to support local business. I had to go a total of four times. The first three times they were extremely rude and completely indifferent to how bad I was feeling. The last time, the woman behind the counter made a point of humiliating me in front of other customers while telling me that my new insurance would not cover my prescriptions. Instead of being subtle and privately discussing it with me, she treated me like dirt, rolled her eyes at me and told me that they hadn't bothered to fill it (this is after making me wait for it for 45 minutes) because of the cost, assuming that I could not afford it. As it stood, it was an inconvenience, but I could afford and seriously needed that prescription so I opted to take it to Rite Aid instead. Sadly, I was treated much better at Rite Aid. I It was the most embarrassing, insulting situation I have experienced in a retail environment. I still feel nothing but outrage every time I pass the store. There are many pharmacies in the area, so I see no reason to ever set foot in this place again. read more

NEERGARD MAKES DANGEROUS MISTAKES FILLING PRESCRIPTIONS. Make sure you check your prescriptions carefully. Neergaard made a dangerous mistake with one of mine, refilling it not once but twice at 10 times the prescribed dose. My doctor said she is surprised I did not have a seizure. To top that off I just realized they mislabeled the dosing instructions on a completely separate prescription, at least this one I was under dosing on. Their carelessness could kill someone. When I brought the mistake to their attention and asked them to give me the proper dose they actually charged me for the refill. I would be very careful, especially if you have children. Know what your meds should look like and check them, if you can't go anywhere else. read more

I went to this pharmacy late afternoon the day before thanksgiving. My beloved dog was in the hospital and desperately needed a drug that only Neergaard had to save her life. I rushed over to this pharmacy to get her prescription filled. Sadly we were told the wait was 45-60 minutes, fine. I left and came back in 45 minutes. I then waited 25 or more minutes to get my prescription. As I stood there in a panic about my little girl I watched several of the pharmacists talk on the phone and merrily chat about their thanksgiving plans. I was mortified! My dog is dying and they're laughing it up and taking their sweet time filling prescriptions. The cashier had to go ask the women several times the status of my order. Each time it became very evident that this was not their priority. I'm not sure if it's because they don't care about dogs or because a pumpkin pie is more important than the health of their customers. Needless to say the behavior of the pharmacists was shameful and embarrassing. How can a pharmacy exist when there is no indication that they care about their customers? Shame on you Neersgard pharmacists, shame. read more

A friend of mine showed me the toy department about 3 years ago. As an action figure collector, I was overwhelmed by the rare finds that were on display. I was able to find many a Marvel Legend & DC collectible that was nowhere to be found at TRU or Target. I not only collect those types but also those of Mezco,SHF,Mafex etc and I am truly impressed by the collection/quantity of selection. Noel has a knowledge of figures that matches my own and he is extremely polite and helpful to those who ask him questions regarding anything in that toy department. I found out that he is the guy that does the window display shortly after talking with him in the beginning of my continued experiences and I have actually taken ideas for pics based on his posing. Noel is the type of person that makes you want to continue shopping there as he has never once given me a reason not too!
