This is a review of the toy dept. of Neergaard. As a longtime collector (25 years) of pop culture statues and action figures, I had high hopes that this store, with its vast variety of older out of production toy finds as well as some of the best new products, would become my go-to neighborhood toy store. On my first visit, I spent hundreds of dollars there. But my last experience there (today) was an infinite deal killer for me. My wife went in (I'm disabled now) to get me a pricy Batman figure and I spoke to Noel, the owner, over the phone. Noel had promised us a 20% discount next time we came in due to a mistake in a receipt some months back, but he began to back-peddle on his promise and offered me 10% instead. He then upped it to 15% acting like he was doing me a favor. When a store owner makes a promise to make something right and then goes back on his word and tries to renegotiate a deal that he already set, I feel cheated. I was going to buy a $266.00 (suggested retail) Batman hot toy and use my discount. But Noel, in addition to lowering my promised discount, had marked up the price to over $300.00 and then tried to justify it by telling me that online prices are always cheaper which is just not so (prices fluctuate online all the time). He also once told me that his prices were always straight retail and will not change even if the item goes up on the secondary (ebay, amazon) market. This Batman which is a new item and, at the time of this writing, not hard to find at the right retail price, totally belied that claim. I felt like I was in a old stereo store on Canal street where you had to haggle just get even close to the right price. If I can't trust the owner to stick to his own word about discounts and not to overcharge on items, I can't trust the business. I also do not appreciate being talked down to about the toy market, which I know so well. Nor do I enjoy hearing about customers who spend more than me and deserve his special treatment, making me feel like I'm not worth his time. So long Neergaard Toys! From here on in, I'll take my business to the pros like Midtown Comics and Forbidden Planet. read more

I feel very confident turning to Neergard for my needs, and it's nice to know that there's a local pharmacy that can help in so many different areas. read more

Worst pharmacy you're ever going to encounter: two times I dropped off a set of 3 scripts, and two times they did not fill them completely, meaning I had to wait on line to pick them up twice. Both times I asked that they fill scripts completely and call me when they're ready, and both times they failed to do it. THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST SERVICE YOU CAN EVERY ENCOUNTER IN A PHARMACY. How they manage to stay in business when Rite Aid and CVS is a block away is beyond my imagination. read more

This place can kiss my ass. They sold me some totally discolored weird $25 conditioner which i tossed the receipt for because this is the 15th bottle I have had of this and didn't have any reason to think I would return and they told me they couldn't do anything for me without. When I said that they sold me a product that was unusable they said "we dont manufacture the product". No shit I thought there was an Aveda factory in your basement. Does Nordstroms look like they knit Calvin Klein sweaters in the employee break rooms? No but they would do something for me if they sold me something unwearable. Anyways peace out Neergard. This place has a good selection and good prices but a number of times when I have gone some fat old security guard watches me like a hawk as if I am going to steal something. Last time I went he literally stood at the end of the hair products aisle for at least half an hour and stared at me. I felt so uncomfortable and offended and almost said something but I am shy and that is not really my thing. I hate that jerk. I am not a shoplifter I'm a frigging lawyer with an ivy league degree. This is the only place where I encounter such rudeness and it is a serious deterrent to go there so I only go now when they have something other places do not carry. He's either staring at me because he's worried about theft or ogling me, either way RUDE AND OFFENSIVE. read more

Terrible customer service and misleading/dishonest advertising of prices. I won't shop here ever again. I came in to buy a notebook because I recalled seeing their display of Moleskine books for 50% off. Not only did they refuse to honor the price because the sign said "calendars" even though 95% of the sale display was non-calendar items (there were less than half a dozen calendars on a full four-sided display of items and even the salesperson initially thought they were all on sale!), when I asked why the sales person was revoking the discount he initially typed into the computer, he took the book away from me and moved on to the next customer. He ignored me as if I wasn't even there. Apparently I wasn't welcome to pay for the book at full price either because I asked a polite question about their honesty confusing display. I was so appalled at the way I was disrespected that I just left the store without buying anything else. I will be buying online instead of shopping at this local store after this. Only shop here if you enjoy being treated like garbage. read more

Thieves and Liars! Took a generic prescription here to be filled was charged the full price and told that that what I was paying for was my my insurance deductible. After speaking with my insurance company and finding out that it was not a deductible I went back and spoke with the owner who, refused to admit the mistake or reimburse me for the difference in price. I even submitted a copy of the prescription which clearly indicated that it was written for the generic. If a mistake is made and you admit it and correct the problem apologetically, that is good customer service. If you make a mistake then deny it at the customers expense, that's theft. read more

I have been gloing here for years, and will continue to do so because it's a local, independent business, well-stocked, and open 24 hours, BUT - the pharmacy service here is ABYSMAL. They are incredibly slow, unhelpful, unfriendly, and they repeatedly make the same errors, not with meds, but with pricing, co-pays, insurance coverage, etc. It's maddening. read more

Here's the thing.....Neergaard has been a neighborhood staple since I was a kid. It was the "go to 24hr drug store" that everyone went to. I am pretty peeved right now, hence the reason I'm writing. I pay an exorbitant amount of money for my healthcare. Yes, I pay and have for years because you have to if you have a job. Now they'll even punish you if you work and you don't. So, can you believe I call Neergaard today to go pick up an arm brace. I work all week and now live in the BX, but wanted to remain loyal. The guy on the phone tells me that because it's Sunday I can't apply this expense to my insurance. If I want to pay out of pocket, he'd be happy to sell it to me. Are you gosh darn kidding me!!!! The insurance company is open to my claim, why aren't you!!!??? But, you'll take my money!!! Neergaard doesn't specify they do foolishness their on their website, so I came all the way to BK for nothing! Suffice it to say, NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. Oh, did I mention the guy working behind the counter needs a class on customer service etiquette. I will never go to Neergaard again. I'll be sure to tell all my friends to do the same. read more

I think Neergaard is great. I would much rather deal with them than any of the chains. My last experience with Rite Aid was when I showed up for my prescription, only to be told they were out of the drug. The next day I called first to confirm that they had received it, which they claimed they had. I showed up and was told they were out of it. After I finished my meltdown at the pharmacy counter, I switched to Neergaard and have been a loyal customer since. Whenever there has been an issue there, it's been a problem with the insurance company, never with Neergaard. read more

This store does not honor their return policy. The policy states they'll refund within 7 days as long as a receipt is provided; today I was turned down when I'd followed those rules exactly! Unfortunately I'm now out almost $50 as a result. With so, so many other decent pharmacies in the neighborhood to choose from, it's interesting that Neergaard doesn't seem to value its customer relationships in the least. I love this place. They always have what I need and the employees are all very helpful and nice. They are open 24hrs which is a huge plus for those of us who sometimes need drugs or perhaps deodorant at odd hours. There is always service with a smile here. Rite Aid is right off the corner from them and if you have ever been in there you truly appreciate Neergaard that much more. Is it me or whenever you go into Rite Aid they act like they are doing you a favor or treating you like a pest? read more

This pharmacy is open 24/7, which is very convenient. They store is pretty big and they sell almost everything you could dream of. The staff is nice. I just recommend you call to confirm your prescription has been filled before going because sometimes they tend to misplace things. All in all, pretty good. read more

This relates to the Neergaard on 7th Avenue. The pharmacy cashier and pharmacists are knowledgable and helpful. Ocassionally it can take a while at pharmacy desk. Overall a pretty good pharmacy. read more

Neergaard's Pharmacy is the worst drugstore in Park Slope. When you call, you are put on hold interminably. When your call is answered, the personnel are rude and curt. The store itself is cramped and dirty. When it was the only option in the Slope, we put up with it. Now there are many better alternatives. Also, the surgical supply department is the worst. We rented a hospital bed for a short term and the mattresses were the like something out of a Dickens novel- thin, lumpy with the springs giving out after one week. And this cost $150 a month! What a rip-off! read more

I'm honestly just amazed that I can get a prescription filled 24/7 and that's very important to me. Plus they have everything you need and then everything you don't need- luxury items, candles, and just gorgeous things. Everyone has been very friendly when I went in. But I have health problems and knowing I can get a prescription filled any time of the day is such a comfort. read more

Horrible horrible horrible they are expensive and terrible customer service ,they are only nice when they take your money but as soon as you come back with a problem nasty nasty nasty rude especially that manager omg stay away from their children's vitamins it is not stored properly gets hard as a rock and when you tell them they refer you to the company.If you have to buy anything especially vitamins and toys go to target .This place is bad news. read more

I have been going to this pharmacy for many years and loved them until recently. My 80 year old mother is a heart patient on a blood thinner , Plavix, that MUST be taken every day without skipping a dose. If she skips a dose it can cause blockages in her heart and if she takes too many it can make her blood too thin. Either of these could obviously have deadly consequences. After refilling a prescription for that drug and also her cholesterol lowering medicine she realized that a gross error had been made. Thankfully my mother is alert, aware and savvy enough to realize that her pills were switched! The blood thinner was in the bottle labeled for the cholesterol pills and the cholesterol pills in the bottle labeled for the blood thinner. We took the pills back an complained. They admitted to the mistake, corrected the error and had the nerve to tell us "the day shift did it". Not even an apology or a word from the manager. This is alarming as it was a potentially life threatening error by a pharmacist there!! It leads me to wonder how many other times this type of error was made and probably went unrecognized. SCARY!!! This is not going to end here. Its great that they're open 24 hrs and sell all kinds of cute trinkets and other goods, but if they can't get the prescriptions right then they need to just be a gift shop. They need a visit from a professional agency that regulates pharmacies. read more
