Bloomington has a lot of coffee competition. Needmore isn't cheap, it's they're the best coffee roasters in the city. I wish I could afford it more often. A grind of their South Asian coffees are amazing. Their food selections are good, but an after-thought, unlike Hopscotch and down the list, Soma. This is a noisy place. There are picnic tables outside, but inside, it's often populated by laptops, loud conversation, and fueling all this commotion, the best coffee in town. I haven't had a bad cup yet, and I've had plenty. Bring money, but it's worth it. Competence should be rewarded. read more

I'm really impressed with Needmore Coffee so far, mostly because it's the first place that I've found a truly good matcha latte in Bloomington, but my latte and pastries were also great and I like the vibe. The baristas are professional and super friendly. They have some very interesting specialty drinks and unique syrup flavours. Eats include a variety of baked goods (with a few vegan and GF options) and a few panini. I tried a hummingbird latte, which is inspired by hummingbird cake and flavoured with vanilla, pineapple, and banana syrup, walnut bitters, and cinnamon. I got it half sweet but was a little worried that it would still be really sweet with all those flavours, but it didn't overpower the coffee. The matcha latte with cardamom syrup was, again, legit - the matcha was strong but smooth and the cardamom syrup enhanced the flavour without masking the matcha. I really liked the cap of frothed milk even though it was an iced latte. The two pastries I tried were the vegan lemon poppy seed cake and dark chocolate pumpkin bread - both tasty and fresh. The pumpkin bread was more substantial than it looked at first glance. It's a medium-sized shop. They have a number of tables as well as a few chairs by the coffee bar inside, and a few picnic tables outside. It's comfortable and unpretentious. Looking forward to coming back for more and relieved to know I can get a good matcha in Bloomington! read more

I think the food, the service, atmosphere, and drinks are great. Really gives a grunge industrial feel to it. The cafes are a little pricier here but understandable in this economy - plus they roast their own stuff so it's going to be a little pricier. This is the cutest coffee shop ever. These folks roast their own beans. They have great conversation spaces and free WiFi. They offer delicious pastries and all kinds of coffee drinks. The staff is always friendly. Parking can be tricky because the parking lot is small but you can park across the street at the strip mall and walk. Give them a try! read more

The Oaken Barrel latte - whiskey infused maple and cayenne - was so warming and incredibly delicious, perfect for a crisp autumn afternoon. The flavor didn't overpower the espresso, it was perfect. Everything about this coffee shop is amazing! They are always offering fun and experimental season flavors that you won't find anywhere else. The employees have always been so kind. They offer a very relaxing atmosphere. But the real selling point for me are the pastries. I'm not local and I have tried a ton of different coffee shops when I have visited Bloomington and this one has the best fresh pasties. Met a friend today at Needmore Coffee and while I normally don't write reviews other than full restaurant experiences, I thought I'd write a short review because they earned it. Then I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out the name of my drink, and no luck. So I'll say this: Needmore is a cute little shop near the Bloomington College Mall, not a lot of seating but a cozy feel. The drink I ordered was delish but again I have no idea what it's called. It's toasted marshmallow and some other things. You'll know it when you're looking at the menu. I also had a cinnamon muffin that was really good. The issue that made me write this review was simply how nice the barista was as well as the guy who took my order. I actually wanted an iced toasted whatever this is called, but didn't say that. 100% my fault. But when I picked up my order and mentioned it they offered to let me keep this one and make a new one for me. I declined (honestly I had second thoughts while at my table looking at how gloomy it was outside and that I wished I had ordered hot) - maybe they read my mind. Solid little east side/non-downtown spot! This wasn't around when I was living in B-Town, but I'm glad a student recommended this gem. I had a latte with no complaints. They did forget my dining companions espresso BUT the barista working quickly rectified it and actually came by to drop it off before we went up there! Talk about great service. While their menu online doesn't list any food - they do offer house made pastries! While I didn't try any this time, they all did look very tasty! It was really quiet, had WiFi & plenty of tables! I needed the coffee to be better and I also needed the general atmosphere to be better. Maybe some background music? Maybe a better attitude exuding a welcoming spirit and gratitude of my patronage from lazy college student tending counter? We popped in as we were buzzing through B-Town and I prefer to support the little guy (not the big coffee chains), but not sure Needmore helps me defend my actions. As a crazy committed straight up regular coffee person, not sure this blend meets my minimal standards of quality. It might have been over roasted. Needmore is a fantastic stop if you're looking to support a woman-owner business, drink some amazing coffee, or chill out in a beautifully sunlit space. Needmore has a slightly industrial-chic vibe, but it's homey, like a family cabin with a few pipes exposed to let you see the inner workings. There's abundant seating, outlets for charging, huge windows (yay natural light!), and great music. They have coffee roasts that benefit different local partners, and special roasts that harken to specific places (like the Cowle's Bog Roast!). Their baked goods are amazing (the tart was lightly sweet and the berries were fresh), and their drinks are amazing. Solid coffee place. V good black coffee. Their fancier drinks (ok not that fancy - think coconut milk latte) fall short. Like not hot or frothy or anything? Not offensive or terrible, just kinda meh. The ambiance is ok. Kinda like the lukewarm lattes but in room form. You can remote work here and people are nice, but service is slow and feels a little awkward. The good - I love that they're local and that they were trained by Intelligentsia (p sure I heard that somewhere along the line when they were initially opening). It's cool that they added a local coffee shop to a part of Bloomy that's dominated by chains. If you're looking for black coffee and homemade pastries (like scones), this is a decent spot. Otherwise I have more fun at some of our other shops. PS - I like that they've partnered (in some capacity, not sure how exactly) with Revolution Bike & Bean. Any purchases made at Rev come with a free to go cup of Needmore black coffee. You can't buy beans there but who cares when there's coffee? PSS - this is one of those times where I was torn bn a 3 and a 4. The quality of the beans deserves a 4 but some of the other things are definitely a 3. So I guess it depends on how you sculpt your visit as to which star rating you'll experience. read more

Simple coffee shop that roasts there own beans. All organic, direct and fair trade coffee. They offer pour overs and drip brew, specialty coffee drinks standards are on the menu as well. They make their own quiche and have other eats from Piccoli Dolci Pastries, Muddy Fork Farm (granola bars and yogurt parfaits), and Sazon Mexican Cuisine (tamales). Monday night they feature half price fine in drinks and live music. It was really quite when we went in with just a few customers. Simple environment and nice music playing. It did take a long time to get the pour over coffee... our food was gone by the time it came out. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed trying it but we did spend a lot more than I anticipated (would have spent only 10ish more to have brunch at Feast with full sit down service). 3.5 stars is my actual rating! read more

The cold brew is incredible here! I love when cold brews are naturally sweet. We also got quiches (Tomato/Ham and Spinach/Onion), which were both delicious and very filling. The interior is really spacious, with lots of natural light. This cafe seems perfect for studying or chilling for a couple of hours. It would be great if more shops and restaurants opened in this area. There's the Jiffy ice cream shop a block down from here, which is also definitely worth checking out. read more

First time here and didn't know what to order. I asked if she could do a caramel macchiato and she said no but said she could do a caramel latte, so I ordered a 16 ounce iced and somehow that's $8.90. When is a 16 ounce iced coffee ever remotely nine dollars and it's not even good unfortunately. At a local shop that's never more that 5.50 and this is double the price of an expensive Starbucks you definitely can't afford this place as a student read more

Lemon squares and cream horns are amazing (pretty sure I don't have the names right). The one guy that's always working the front is awesome. Needmore absolutely has the best coffee in town (pour-over please!). They source their beans from several places and it's really fun to get a diverse array of beans to choose from. I definitely recommend Needmore as a hidden gem of Bloomington East side. The staff at Needmore has always been great, I have gotten several great recommendations from them. One thing I tried that truly wowed me was the honey lemonade(oh my gosh, SO good). It's such a perfect drink for a hot summer day and the honey they use is just delicious! Also - the owner is really nice and is there so often, it's clear how much heart she has put into her shop. On Sundays a Mexican eatery (pop-up? Not sure of their actual classification) called Saizon comes in and serves a tasty Mexican brunch from 11-2 PM. While I love this, I do recommend coming early because by noon they've run out of most of their dishes and you'll likely be stuck getting something you don't really want. I also saw that they sell tamales there from Saizon all week but haven't yet had the chance to try them. If you're looking for a quiet place to do some work/reading and have a cup of really good coffee, you can't do better than Needmore. read more

Ordered a pour over with the Rabbit 18 that the barista recommended, was not disappointed, a truly delicious and unique flavor. I also had a piece of the spinach and onion quiche which was excellent. The prices are on the higher side, but this is to be expected in this kind of shop. The staff were great and the free WiFi was plenty fast. I'll be back regularly for sure. Because they read the names for the orders off the credit card given instead of asking for a name (which I thought was common practice by now with coffee shops?), they will loudly out and/or deadname anyone whose current name does not match the name on their card. For quality of beans and roasting, I would give this place 4 stars (5 stars for Bloomington). The two stars is based on how many of their baristas are way too slow.
