English muffin sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese
    Abigail Q.

On their menu, you can order different variations of the sandwich: we got the croissant sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese and another sandwich with the sausage as well as the English muffin sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese. These were filling and we got 3 healthy strips of bacon! The Chocolate croissant is flaky and soft. We tried the London fog hot tea, snickerdoodle latte, and hot chocolate. All were very flavorful and delicious. Service was great, they brought out our drinks to us while we were sitting outside. The ambiance both inside and outside is beautiful and clean.

    Maple Pancake Sausage Sandwich

My partner and I have a seasonal bucket list. For fall, we wanted to try a new coffee shop ! I had heard so many positive reviews about Verona - and it definitely lived up to them. I got a salted caramel mocha from their seasonal menu. It was so light and creamy. It was definitely unlike any other coffee I've had in town. The sandwich was fun ! It was literally two pancakes with sausage and egg in between. It was so good ! The maple flavor came through super strong. The coffee shop was so cute and elegant. The staff was super friendly. And there was an outdoor fireplace ! That was so cozy to sit and chat at. I definitely recommend trying them out. It's a bit pricey, but totally worth it !

Another liked her muffaletta, but wished she'd ordered more than a cold sandwich - as tall and as full as it was. My partner and I shared the meatball grinder appetizer. Best meatball I've ever had. There were three meatballs (each one looked as big as a tennis ball!) with little garlic crostinis circling them on the plate. We each ate one and took the other home, which he happily ate the next day. Delicious! Our hostess/server Lanie was the hardest working server I've ever seen, and always with a smile that carried to her voice and eyes. Although we went there to check out mosaic supplies in an art store, I'd easily go back here just for the food! Inside, the restaurant was Diner-noisy. Outside in the pavilion, it was very pleasant.

We went on Valentine's Day and there was probably 1 server for each table, so they added to the noise as well. And the esthetics of the dining area left a lot to be desired with what should be behind a wall is instead in the dining area and not covered. So onto the food. While good, $19+ for a sandwich and kettle chips is pretty steep no matter how you cut it. Speaking of cutting it, I ordered the Spicy Arriabiata which was slic3d so awkwardly it was almost impossible to eat as a sandwich. Instead of being cute, try slicing it in half so it can be eaten next time. Overall the food was actually good, service was good and properly attentive. Will I go back? Probably not. Kind of feels like a been there, done that type of experience. Dinner for 2 with a cocktail and wine and 2 sandwiches cost $85. Probably cancel spend that elsewhere and get a better dinner.

Wow. What happened? This place I swore by not so long ago has taken a serious nosedive…read more Lunch with the kid again. Fun, right? Nope. They were a bit busy but it didn't seem like a huge crowd today. We sat outside again. I knew what I wanted immediately, and placed our order as soon as our waitress came over to greet us. A cheeseburger for the kid, and a pulled pork sandwich for me. I've never had theirs before. And I never will again. And fries. We got fries. The wait was insane. At least a half hour for very simple dishes. The kid got a tiny burger. Beef and bun. No cheese, no ketchup. I had to ask for cheese. Yes. They messed up a cheese burger. Then there was my pulled pork. It was literally inedible. I've since come to learn that it was not reheated properly, so the goo that covered every bit of meat was fat. It was served cold, for some reason, and the way it was presented on the menu, listed under a picture of some yummy browned wings led me to believe it would be a very different - and HOT- sandwich. The server did offer to take it back, but at that point the meal was ruined for me and I didn't trust them to make anything else, or make it quickly. I made it clear I was very unhappy about such a disgusting sandwich. She took all of 10% off my bill. Better than nothing, but a lot less than I was expecting. if this is how they're doing things now, I'm done with this place. Badly overseasoned fries... cold pulled pork... cheeseburger with no cheese... I mean, come on... and based on what little I caught from people at another table, getting food out seemed to be an issue for them. I'm not sure if any other places nearby that aren't just bars serve decent food, but if they do, you can definitely give this place a hard pass. Yuck.

I wasn't particularly hungry that day and, as a first-timer at Fat Dan's, I expected a small snack. Nope--what I got was a huge portion, but thankfully, it was delicious. The restaurant was packed since IU had just hosted a football game, so it was loud, and seating was limited and service was lacking. Still, it was a tasty experience overall!

Locals told me that it was because the local pizza places, especially Mother Bear's, are so popular, that college students would go there instead of getting cheap, mid pizza. I have now been to Mother Bear's three or four times and really wish that there was a Little Caesar's Pizza in town. This most recent trip was during lunchtime and I ordered a cheese slice, a small house salad, and a drink. I fortunately got there early enough to get a clean table, though I saw probably fifteen to twenty people come in after me who were not so lucky. Following the sign at the door, instructing them to "Please Seat Yourselves," I heard several people ask out loud how they were supposed to do that if there were no clean tables. Some employees frantically cleaned a few tables and had them sit down. A few minutes after I ordered, the waitress brought the house salad. It looked fresh at first but the more I ate the more I realized that several of the romaine pieces were either clearly out of date or simply bad. In a moment when cyclospora is running rampant through the US, the lack of care in selecting the lettuce was worrying. Several moments later I began wondering if the cheese slice was going to be brought to my table soon. Instead, it was probably twenty minutes between getting the salad and the cheese slice and it was pretty obvious (see the photo) that the slice had been sitting under a heat lamp for around that same amount of time. The crust was dry, the cheese had become stale and too salty, and it was not a very enjoyable experience. Eating around the bad lettuce was, unfortunately, more enjoyable, and it was also better than the pizzas I've had here in the past, where the dough, toppings, and cheese aren't integrated in a way that blends their flavors together very well. The one thing I can say about this time is that the Dr. Pepper was fine, which is not something I can always say about restaurant sodas. I think for me this will probably be my last time going to Mother Bear's. It seems like one of those places that probably was good at some point in the past but now they rely on the fact that undergrads and locals will go to the restaurant no matter what. I'll probably just keep dreaming of eating Little Caesar's instead or, more likely, I'll just go get better pizza at Osteria Rago.
