The service was quick and I asked about an ingredient in the Banana Pudding ice cream and the server asked the appropriate person. I appreciate the effort. The restaurant wasn't too crowded for a Wednesday afternoon so we got right in. I will most definitely be back!

Don't you just love that? The BLT at The Chocolate Moose is served on a toasted croissant, with slices of crispy bacon, lettuce and tomato. You can get it with mayo or not (I did not). I think the smart move is to ask for extra bacon. The extra bacon put this sandwich over the top! I don't know if it was because of the extra bacon, or because it was tomato season, but the BLT was perfect and just what I needed. I got some potato wedges to go with my sandwich, and I loved those almost as much as my sandwich. Dang, The Chocolate Moose! Who knew you had such good food? Everyone is raving about the ice cream, but I'm over here screaming (OK, murmuring) about the food. I'm not the biggest ice cream fan, but I do occasionally enjoy ice cream as long as it has some stuff in it. It needs texture and things I can chew on. One of my favorite ice cream treats is a turtle sundae, because it has pecans and caramel in it -- a winning combination. Because I was at an ice cream shop, I thought, "What the heck?" and ordered a cup of sweet mucus -- I mean, ice cream. The turtle sundae that I got at The Chocolate Moose was great! I just wish it had more pecans, but I suppose you can ask for them, which I didn't think to do. They have several different kinds of sundaes, as well as ice cream sandwiches, milkshakes and vegan ice cream. There's a drive-thru, which is convenient, but there is very little parking, which is inconvenient. The people that I encountered who work here were super friendly and nice, which was nice.

It turned out, they had to make my iced tea special, because they weren't allowed to use the tap water because of some boil order that was established in the area. OK! They were able to pivot and make me my unsweetened ice tea with bottled water, instead. My iced tea was great and just what I wanted. What customer service! I wish I wanted some baked goods while I was here, because this place has all of the homemade-looking baked goods. Peanut butter cookies in a Tupperware container, bread pudding covered in plastic wrap, apple pie in a metal pie dish. All of the baked goods look like they were made by someone's grandma. And they looked like they were labeled by someone's grandpa, carefully, in grandpa handwriting. Nashville General Store has a breakfast and lunch menu along with baked goods, with a big indoor dining room that you can sit in and enjoy your meal. Breakfast foods include pancakes, quiche and breakfast sandwiches; lunch options include things like sandwiches, soups, salads and sides. This place is also a store. You will find things like jams and canned goods, home decor, and lots more stuff with a country aesthetic. It's a cute place to visit to grab something to eat or drink, and look around.

The breading is a house recipe and is crunchy like an onion ring. Delicious! Each tenderloin is breaded and cooked to order and served on a house baked cornmeal bun. The sweet potato fries are served with a spicy jam for dipping. I wasn't sure but it's delicious! There is a shopping area with seasonal decorations and house seasonings and sauces. Mostly stuff you'll find all over Nashville. The dining area features mix n match furniture with a country kitchen vibe. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to your table. We spent $45 for lunch for two but it sure seemed worth it.

Food was good. Wife really enjoyed The Honest Bean ($15.99) saying it was one of the better black…read morebean burgers she has had and thought the fries were just ok. The bourbon salmon ($24.99) was fine, just a little dry. I liked the flavor of the mashed potatoes, but they were only luke warm. I substituted roasted carrots for the collard greens, but got charged 0.99 for it apparently. Service was fine. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and they said we would have to wait a bit, but then we were seated within a minute. Server was attentive to our table. She did notice after she brought my wife's wine to the table that it was incorrect. She left it and promptly got the correct one. Ambiance was fine. It's a large venue and the outdoor campus is pretty cool. We were seated in a booth. The booth itself seemed a tad worn. They also have a lot of glass on the west wall, which allowed the sun to shine in, but also made it a tad blinding when turning that direction. Overall, it was good, but not amazing. It is conveniently located to the music venue that is just a bit south of it across the highway.

We couldn't get a dinner reservation (busy Friday night), so we ordered drinks and food from the outdoor digital Terrace Menu. Cocktails and beer had big city prices: a seasonal 20 oz beer was a whopping $12.49 and a classic old fashioned was $13.99. Food prices were reasonable, but you get what you pay for: smash burgers were small, cooked until dry (med well with no way to specify preferred doneness when ordering), and $5 was a lot to pay for about 14 fries! We sat at a picnic table to eat, then moved to "amphitheatre" seating to listen to the music, which was provided by a typical small-venue band. Little kids were having a great time running around and dancing, but not many adults came to sit in that area. There's no dance floor space, which was disappointing. We enjoyed a walk around the pretty fall-decorated grounds at dusk, then stopped in the bottle shop, where we purchased cinnamon vodka. Since we hadn't done a tasting (which range in price from $25-$70/person), we didn't buy bourbon or whiskey. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but because of the high prices and lackluster food on the Terrace and mediocre reviews of the restaurant, I'd say once was enough.
