Cheddar cheese omelette

Stopped in for some breakfast before going to the Bottle Day Festival. First time here. Had a cheddar cheese omelette with home fries rye toast. Big portion. Home fries were cooked perfectly. Sat at the bar waitress was good. Was busy inside.

Their burger deluxe - served up fast at the bar counter today!

Fast, courteous service at lunch! Kept it simple today with a burger deluxe and it was great! Huge, excellently cooked burger with lettuce, tomato, pickle spear and coleslaw. Fries were great and the whole dish was sort of nostalgic of how I remember the burger deluxe platter from years back - hot, plentiful, not fancy yet delicious! My first visit here and definitely worthy of a return trip!

Belgian waffle- whip cream, ice cream and strawberries

Shining example of why NJ diners are the best. The service here is really why this place gets 5 stars. We came on Father's Day and were seated really fast. We came looking for dessert and decided on a Belgian waffle with all the fixings. But our waitress sold us on their peanut butter pie too. We ended up getting both, which came out really quickly. Both desserts were pretty stellar and would come back easily to get them again. Will be back soon to try more of their large menu

Assembled waffle.

Overprices with smaller portions than your average New Jersey diner, I'll be sticking to Broadway from now on.

Just okay. When I ask for egg whites, I want egg whites, not egg beaters. Disappointing

The breakfast here is pretty good, although not the best, and the staff here are usually very friendly.

He was more than willing to help us work our way through the menu. My request was to split a large salad with my wife. Walter had the salad split between two plates for us with a side of delicious fresh rolls. My son ordered the Cuban sandwich with a side of potato salad and my daughter-in-law had the homemade chicken pot pie. All of the food was well prepared and presented beautifully. Everything was super fresh and made to order. The decor was very warm with a home-like feeling. Walter was a wonderful host and made our first experience delightful. This is one of those small, independent restaurants that is worth adding to my favorite bistro list. I am looking forward to visiting The Harvest Bistro the next time I am in Madison, New Jersey.

You know those days when you're on your lunch break and realize you still have to go food shopping?…read moreToday was that day. Hungry and very short on time, I ordered the turkey and brie sandwich from the Chatham Sandwich Shop. My order was ready for pickup in less than ten minutes. The sandwich was melt-in-your-mouth amazing--the kind of lunch that makes you stop after the first bite and think, "Oh, that's good." There's something comforting about places that do simple things exceptionally well. The Chatham Sandwich Shop is one of those classic sandwich shops that doesn't need to try too hard. Good food, quick service, and exactly what I needed on a busy workday. Five stars. I'll be back--probably the next time I ignore my grocery list.

Tried Chatham Sandwich Shop for the first time for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! There's…read morestreet parking right in front of the shop. We came a little later in the afternoon, probably closer to 2 PM, but there were still quite a few people having lunch, which is always a good sign. My friend ordered the tuna sandwich on sourdough, and I got the chicken salad on sourdough. Everything tasted fresh and yummy, and the sourdough was really good! We also got the macaroni salad to share, and honestly, it might have been my favorite part! It was perfect - not drowning in sauce like how other places make it, and I loved the fresh veggies mixed in. I would genuinely come back just for the macaroni salad, but I'd definitely be down to try some of their other sandwiches too! Not sure if we were the weird ones for getting macaroni salad as our side because I noticed everyone else seemed to be having a bag of chips with their sandwich..... Either way, no regrets! Definitely a cute little sandwich spot I'd come back to!

The owner Anthony has a son with celiac so they know all the protocols to keep people safe. And wow is the food good. Fried chicken cutlets on a sub, cheesesteaks, even meatballs. Over-friendly counter guy leers at me "...but you want cheese, right?" Yeah, sure. "Meatball platter!" he proclaims with a flourish, finishing the order ticket. That's when I smelled a rat. After 10 minutes waiting, I come back to the counter wondering where the two or three meatballs are - adding a water to my order. My new bestest counter friend, bearing an uncanny resemblance to Patsy in the Sopranos, rings it up with the same fake friendliness. "That'll be $18.90!" I handed him my card and thought: "f'ng thieves". I'm not bitter, incensed, outraged, or insulted ...anymore. Finished my 10 mile walk and came home to write this warning to you and also figured out how Yelp got its name. You know how when you didn't notice that dog behind you and you accidentally backed up and stepped on its tail and suddenly you hear a "Yelp"? Anyway, check out the insulting picture here showing what $18.90 gets you: three bland meatballs, some stringy cheese swimming in bland red sauce - all in a cheap plastic tray with cheap plastic utensils and bland water. Last time I'll get snookered, hoodwinked, ganked, took, bamboozled, and hustled at this place. And don't try telling me the bottle of water and the meatballs and the cheese are all more expensive because of the Strait of Hormuz. You gouge saps because this is a money area and you can get away with it. Still doesn't make it moral. What? Customers should first ask what you charge for three meatballs, some cheese and water? Oh it's on US?

A two egg breakfast, an order of lemon ricotta pancakes with a side of bacon, and two coffees was $50. That's insane for an average breakfast pre-tip. I would not call the side of bacon generous to justify the cost, it was two small strips. I was underwhelmed by the lemon ricotta pancakes. They were plain pancakes with a bitter lemon ricotta drizzle on the top layer. I've had some amazing lemon ricotta pancakes elsewhere. Whatever recipe they are using for the lemon ricotta is just not good. The drizzle was dry and so bitter. I usually don't use syrup but these needed syrup because they were so bitter. The cleanliness of this establishment is questionable, which is likely why we won't return. One of the glasses set at the table was dirty. We did get a new one when requested. The bottle of water provided appeared dirty, which we noticed after being there awhile. When I asked for a to go box, the busser went to the back to get one for me. After the gentleman walked away I looked in the box before placing my food in, and saw crumbs in one corner and short dark hairs. By this point we had reached the end of our dining experience, so it wasn't worth making a fuss over, we just left. That said, anytime I see this level of uncleanliness as a customer it begs the question: how clean is the kitchen?
