Today 9/15/2024 at 4 pm i decided I would try Main Street Sub in Madison NJ because I've passed it at least 500 times going to work. the place is very clean, a good sign, I thought the food would be good if not excellent because it does have a reasonably good business. I order a stromboli and a meatball sandwich. my take on the meatball sandwich was 5 out of 10 because I'm generous with my compliments.. the stromboli on the other hand was if you were Christopher Columbus looking for America and you thought you found India you would be right. it would be harder to find the holly grail than the sausage in the sandwich. it is a vegan stromboli with a spay of sausage flavoring. save your money. buy canned food that is 50 years old and you will be doing better. sorry, I had to write this review I would much have preferred a positive outcome.

Sloppy Joe and a #21 Italian Sub ... Wow! Like being a kid again. Thanks Ralph and team ...

I ordered a cheesesteak with onion and mushrooms for pickup. When I arrived at the store (which was empty) they told me that they didn't have the order and that it would be 20 minutes. 20 minutes and $9.50 later, I received a cheesesteak with two slices of "beef", no mushrooms or onions, and an attitude from the staff. Never again will I support this local business!

This rating is based solely on their bacon egg and cheese sandwich. One word sums its up - Weak! Very disappointed, for $6. I was hoping for something better. I think there was only 1 egg.

Excellent spot for sandwiches, the bread, cold cuts and fixins are fresh and the portions are big. They have plenty of daily specials and at lunchtime expect it to be crowded with customers who have been coming here for over a decade. There is plenty of parking and seating, inside and out. Although most business is to go. If you are in a hurry on a budget for lunch in the Chatham/ Madison area, this is the spot to go.

Where's the beef? Ham and bologna sandwich with American. Break down: 2 slice of ham, 1 Bologna, 1 slice of cheese.

Ok food but extremely rude woman. We won't be returning and will be sure to spread the word. I tried twice to give this place a chance.

My absolute favorite is their #6 Pepperoni, Provolone, Prosciuttini, Salami - I believe this is their Italian sub.

Hungry and very short on time, I ordered the turkey and brie sandwich from the Chatham Sandwich Shop. My order was ready for pickup in less than ten minutes. The sandwich was melt-in-your-mouth amazing--the kind of lunch that makes you stop after the first bite and think, "Oh, that's good." There's something comforting about places that do simple things exceptionally well. The Chatham Sandwich Shop is one of those classic sandwich shops that doesn't need to try too hard. Good food, quick service, and exactly what I needed on a busy workday. Five stars. I'll be back--probably the next time I ignore my grocery list.

Sometimes I like to throw random instructions in there like toast bread, melt the cheese and make the fries well done and surprisingly this shop hit on all points. The bread was fresh and so was the turkey, and the fries were well done to perfection and they had that golden crisp to them. The shop itself looks nice inside and my food was ready for pickup as soon as I arrived. If you are in the mood for a good sandwich then I recommend this spot will be going there again stars.

Freshest bread (Sorrento bakery?) , generous portions, great quality, and very fair prices. Yes, we tried the 20-inch Chicken Caesar and Meatball Parm subs--$20 each Tuesday/Thursday 11:00am! Amazing special price for the quality and amount of food. If the promo is running, arrive early and take a number because it's clearly popular. The soups are the perfect accompaniment to a sandwich. They're made with fresh ingredients and heated to order rather than stewed all day. The chicken soup is loaded with fresh chicken and vegetables, also tried a delicious vegetable purée soup.... and the Roman Stracciatella is like an Italian version of egg-drop soup, with spinach and delicate strands of egg. All were excellent and generously served in a tureen. And take a look at the photos--the sandwiches are no joke. The Pastrami & Corned Beef Sloppy Joe and other combinations are piled high. All of the chicken cutlet sandwich's are crunchy on the outside and unlike many other sandwich places juicy inside. The place is clean, the people are friendly, and the prices are refreshingly reasonable. Theresa has a lot of energy and runs some fun promotions and specials. There's also an outdoor patio, and they make fresh pasta right there in-house. We're already looking forward to going back and trying their dinner specials. Short ribs sounds about right. Theresa's is the kind of place you're happy to discover--and even happier to keep coming back to.
