Add a little salt to Huevos Rancheros as well as switch up the tomatoes, the tomato's were dull and did not brighten the dish, also with the flatness it just added to the bland flavor. Increased the portion sizes for the meals or decrease the charge. From what I gathered seeing other tables the kids meals were all larger than the adult meals. The "Brussels waffle" was missing something, maybe milk? It was extremely dense and heavy unlike the characteristics of a light and airy waffle with crisp edges (could also be sitting under the warmer too long as well). I might be hyper critical of this eatery due to their excessive fees and lack of meeting expectations from menu descriptions. As a group of 6, we sat outside on a nice day for lunch. Service was super quick and waiters happily accomodated our bigger group which we really appreciated. We're so glad we stumbled upon this gem while searching for a brunch spot. The food is excellent with a wide variety of options, from brunch to fresh salads and sandwiches. I order the same breakfast and the same side dish every time I come here so I know exactly what to expect. I ordered the brisket eggs Benedict with a side of cheese grits. I should've known something was up when the server asked me what kind of cheese I wanted in my grits. The grits had always been served warm with cheddar nicely incorporated in them. She asked if I wanted yellow American cheese grits. What! I told her I wanted cheddar cheese grits. Food comes and I start digging in. The biscuit was soaked in this awful tasting meat juice so I couldn't eat the biscuit either. I could only eat the two eggs. I went to take a bite of the grits. The grits were hard, almost coarse, cold and only had a few sprinkles of non cheddar looking cheese. It was inedible. I told the server that couldn't eat most of what I ordered. She said she'd tell the manager. When she came to collect payment she charged me for all the food. I told her I was not paying for the grits. I've noticed that I use the term "hidden gem" a lot in my reviews, but Pico & Guac is literally and figuratively a hidden gem.. Pico & Guac is located at 30 Cook Plaza in Madison in space that's shared with Butter & Jam. So, just how does this work? Butter & Jam, a cafe specializing in breakfast/brunch/lunch, closes at 3pm, and Pico & Guac, a casual modern Mexican BYOB restaurant with its own unique menu, opens at 530pm. It's an innovative arrangement that allows two unique restaurants to coexist in the same space. (I'm not sure if you can order off the Pico & Guac menu if you wander into Butter & Jam for lunch.) With two restaurants sharing the location, the dining area features a very casual, open ambiance and neutral, modern decor with tables that can be assembled to accommodate larger groups or smaller parties. Pico & Guac features generous portions of tasty made-to-order modern interpretations of traditional Mexican cuisine - including a variety of salads, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and entrées such as carne asada, chicken mole poblano, chicken mango pico, and salmon avocado pico. On my most recent visit, my dining party grazed through several generous portions of the tortilla chips ($6) and pico de gallo ($6) while patiently waiting for our meals. The freshly-made pico de gallo is excellent! I opted for the Blackened Salmon Tacos ($18) comprised of three tacos -- 6" flour tortillas topped with blackened salmon and fresh mango pico de gallo -- that was very tasty and quite filling even though it didn't come with a side dish. The host and server was friendly and attentive but not overwhelming, although the service seemed to be a bit slow even though the restaurant was mostly empty when we were there at 8pm on a weeknight. PRO TIP: The front of the restaurant opens into the municipal Cook Avenue parking lot (located at 73 Cook Avenue) which offers plenty of free parking. You can also find plenty of street parking on Main Street and walk down the Cook Plaza Alley between the Snooki Shop and Formaggio's Pizza. read more

If you're looking for a pleasant brunch experience, this is unfortunately NOT the place. We made a reservation several days ahead of time for Butter & Jam brunch on a Sunday, and we still waited nearly 30 minutes to get seated. It then took 20 minutes for someone to come take our order, and another 30 for our coffee alone to come out, before the food finally came almost 20 more minutes later. The food was mediocre, but came out room temperature, if not cold in some places, as if they had been made and sat in the kitchen for a while before being brought out to us. On top of that, parts of the order were incorrect or even missing (ie wrong bread, missing sides of jam, watered down matcha latte made without milk!) Upon receiving the check, we noticed we were charged twice for some items and that the prices were more expensive than what was listed on their menu (which is completely online). We politely and calmly talked to the manager about our experience (slow service, cold food, incorrect bill) and his response was essentially "well that's just how brunch is." He at least settled the bill discrepancy, but was overall dismissive towards us. I wanted to like this place, but ended up leaving our 2+ hour brunch unimpressed and disappointed. This has to be one of the worst places for customer service that I have experienced in a while.I had A 12 PM reservation today, March 2, 2026. When I arrived, I was told it would be a five minute wait. I checked back in Every five minutes for the next 25 minutes, and was told the same thing. At 12:30 I checked again and saw that there were six open tables I requested to both the server and the manager that we be seated at one of the tables and was told that those tables were being held for 1245 reservation. After explaining that we had a 12 PM reservation and that it was unfair for another party to be seated before us for 1245 reservation. I was only offered a free appetizer when a seat became available. This is absolutely unacceptable. Not sure if I was treated this way because I was the only African-American in the establishment I would hope not but I know that I will not be going back to this place ever I would not recommend anyone else to go. read more
