Had an appointment for my dad and myself, everything was great until I asked to use the bathroom and they told me the patient bathroom was broke I would need to use the bathroom next door in the Fry's. WTH?? You have an employee bathroom but you send your patients next door to the grocery store why? Nation Wide Vision in Anthem, AZ has THE RUDEST receptionist I have EVER encountered. When I had my first encounter with her, my impression was that she was rude but I brushed it off. Today was my second encounter and I have to say that this young lady is VERY RUDE! I will not bore you with the details, although I will say I have delt with the public for over 50 years and NO ONE should talk to customers the way this person does! Take from this whatever you may. Ads made is sounds like a good deal. I called ahead (I don't remember which Phoenix location) and asked if I could use my insurance (giving my insurance info over the phone). They took all the details over the phone and said "yes". I drove 45 min to get there, and when I arrived they said that they're not in network, so I'll be paying full price. I referred to me earlier conversation prior to my coming to the office, and the response was, "Oh yes, we will TAKE your insurance, but you aren't in network, so it won't be covered". DO NOT GO TO THIS JOKE OF AN ESTABLISHMENT!!!!! My experience with them was by far the worst experience I've ever had with getting glasses and I've worn glasses my whole life. I brought my own frames (good quality ones too). They sent them into the lab which it took them over two weeks just for them to call me and tell me they had no explanation as to why they couldn't fill my frames with my prescription. Not to mention I called multiple times to check the status and it seems all 50 morons that sit behind the desk don't know how to answer the phone. The one time I managed to get someone to answer, the lady who did was incredibly rude and made it seem like I was out of line for calling to check the status of my glasses. Eww. Yuck. I went to this Nationwide because it was close to my house, thinking it couldn't be that bad. I was very wrong. First off the girls working there were more concerned with talking about their boyfriends than addressing me when I walked in. I had to tell them I was here for an appointment 3 times before they actually took action. The lack of service can be forgiven but the overall cleanliness is what is prompting only one star. When I went in to take the eye tests I knew I was in trouble. The three machines they have all looked very old and very dirty. When I had to rest my chin and forehead on the first machine I decided to just deal with it and shower once I got home. They do not clean their machines after each use, so I was resting my chin and forehead in grease(face grease not mine = disgusting). Same goes with all the other machines, filthy and greasy. The worst part? I had to take my new contacts into the bathroom to try them on. They didn't have a fitting area and the bathroom (toilet seat up) was filthy. If you are going to send people to the bathroom to put in new lenses the bathroom should at least be kept clean. read more

I wish I would have seen these reviews before I made my appointment... I have pretty good eyesight. Unfortunately, now that I work on a computer for the vast majority of my work day, I noticed I was having issues focusing after a while. The only reason I'm mentioning that is to say I don't have much experience with eye doctors. This was the first time in almost ten years since I've been to one. I went to nationwide on baseline and 7th because it was close and the first on the list of in-network providers for my insurance. Mistake mistake mistake I will NEVER go back there. I figured they have to be better than Americas best or any of those cheap places? NOPE. My appointment was 10/2/14 at 10:30 am. I arrived early to fill out my paperwork. The only good thing I can say was - good first impression. Bright. Fancy. Clean. And they spoke English as a primary. (some times it's kinda awkward being the only white girl in the area lol). So I felt welcome. But then I handed in my paperwork. And waited. And waited. And waited. The technician was standing at the end of the desk chit chatting with the other girls. I was getting pissed. I had to go to work later - I didn't have all day. Finally, she takes me back. She was waiting for the other girl to manually input my info. The exams themselves weren't bad. The tech was fine. Machines were kinda gross, though. The doctor was great. He spent plenty of time answering my questions. So then I go back out to pick frames. My eyes were dilated so one of the girls helped me. Got all that good stuff done - then for more paperwork. I unfortunately have to pay up front and get reimbursed from insurance, so there's a form for the clinic to fill out. The girl hands it back to me and says it's good to go. WITH DILATED EYES I COULD SEE SHE MISSED INFORMATION! So I told her and she was embarrassed and filled it in. Well of course, when I got home, I saw like half that paper wasn't filled out. That pissed me off. But, because I hate driving on baseline so much, I figured I would just wait to pick up my frames and then have them correct the issue. That was supposed to be 10-14 business days. Fast forward to today. SIX WEEKS LATER. Why the hell did it take SIX WEEKS for a pair of glasses?!?!?!? They're not bifocals! They're nothing fancy! Omg I'm so mad. So I let the girl know I wasn't happy. And I said she needs to correct my paperwork. Well she couldn't. She didn't know how. And the doctors signature was missing and he won't be in until Friday. So I will have to make a third trip just to get a damn signature. Seriously?! How is this place even in business! Do not waste your time! Good thing I'm not blind or that would have been an even longer six weeks... Don't go. Ever. Those girls are more concerned with their cell phones than customer service. I went in for visit and waited almost a whole month for my trail lenses to arrive. Within that month, I was called the office several times and left several voice messages with absolutely not one phone call back. Finally after almost a month I had to literally drive down to the facility and see what was going on with my contacts which was a total inconvenience for me because because i had to schedule to leave work early just to stop by before they closed. When asked for an explanation on why i did not get one phone call back within almost a whole month they said they were "busy". Even after receiving my contact i still can not get a hold of them to schedule a follow up with the doctor. I was extremely disappointed in their customer service or lack there of. This center is about 10mins away from my home which is why I'm a repeat customer. My daughter and I were there a year ago. The service was not impressive but not bad enough to keep me away. I had our appointment scheduled for today. Upon our arrival the customer service agent first said they couldn't see us because we were late. I told them we were advised a 5:45 check in and said I was wrong and they couldn't take us. I played them a confirmation voice mail from them. She then turned to her "manager" whom then proceeded to say it was my fault for missing my appointment and that their DR was gone for the day. Not only were there no apologies for the miscommunication or attempt for a solution. My only option offered was to reschedule. I refused to leave as my daughter had been waiting for two weeks for this appointment. I wish I would have looked up the reviews before wasting our time. It is unacceptable to have a business operating with this type of customer service. I gave them a star due to one employees professionalism. IDIOTS! First, they make me travel 40 minutes away "because of my insurance". Which isn't true! They assume I have ACCESS but in fact I don't. It's actually a Medicare Advantage Plan but they're too lazy to take the time and instead make a poor assumption. All I want is an average eye exam but because I was ONCE diabetic they force me into more testing than what I need and refuse to treat me otherwise. I will not be forced to do something I do not need, want or need to travel to a special location across town for. I'd rather pay out of pocket than have the gross near 3 hour experience I had last time, and had to return 4 additional times because of their error and what stupidity seems to be repeating itself. So with their logic, it's better for me not to have glasses at all, not see clearly and go untreated unless I have additional testing that I don't need!?!? I have not even taken my children to their eye appointments yet and I am already irritated. I requested online appointments for my two sons on Monday. Their website says that I will be contacted within 24hrs to confirm the appointments. It is now Thursday and I realize that I had not heard anything about the appointments. I called the office and I was placed on a lengthy hold and then had the pleasure of speaking to the most rude women. I explained the situation with the online requests and was cutoff and told "We are booked for the next two weeks so we would not have called you back". I asked if they would have followed up with the online request and was told if they are booked no. She then says what insurance do you have and I tell her and she says we only have an appointment for next week at 9:30 do you want it or not. I was stunned. I get it you are probably busy, you probably had to deal with cranky half blind customers all day. But really this is the job you signed up for. You don't have to be rude. I liked the fact that this place is right up the street from house and my tax dollars can be spend in my community. But the customer service her is making me go somewhere else. I will pay more and spend my dollars some where else. One of my children is Autistic and if you are this rude over the phone I can only imagine how we would be treated in the office. Very bad customer service. The doctor was the only one that had very excellent customer service and great to talk to. He even explain and answer any questions you had. But that front desk need training on there customer service. I will never come back to this place due to the way I got treated. My glasses was very blurred and I was told to give it a week to adjust and I still couldn't see out of them. I had to go to a different vision company just to see and receive better customer service. Now my husband is going through the same problem. Can't get help from the front desk just because we are black and not white or Mexican. We had to seat there for 45 minutes before someone decide to help my husband to look for a set of glass. So sad when you get better customer service in the upper rich class area. read more

This is the worst Vision Center I've been too. The women are constantly talking about their personal lives and when I walked in for my appointment and approached the front desk a girl forgot she left a client on the phone on hold and cut me off before I could say anything. Then when the next lady went to help her face was so bothered and tired. Not even a hello or "Welcome to Nation Wide." The service is really poor. I came prior to fill out my paper work and I gave them my insurance and they still used the wrong insurance and now I'm sitting waiting for them to fix a lot mistake to see if my deductible will be the same or not. Completely unprofessional! Please fix your customer service skills and get your shit together. Too bad they don't wear name tags, another problem, because I'd be addressing them by their names here.
