Was strolling on by & saw that they had Jamaican beef patties, which caught me by surprise. Decided to order one with a Diet Coke to go. I will say, it was a very Chicagoan tasting beef patty. Not bad, but taste like what I'd assume a place that sells cheeseburgers & hot dogs would make. Best part of the experience was how quickly my order was made.

$4.99? Where is the sauce?? This item is not worth it. This is pitiful! If I was feeling better I'd walk the two blocks and give this back. If you're going to charge for bbq sauce, the LEAST you can do is cover the fries with the sauce. I'm so glad I didn't pay extra for cheese and receive it close to cold. The char polish is regular size, not footling for $9 plus. Do yourself a favor and save your money. There are many more places that offer this same meal WITH fries for far less money delivered from Uber Eats in the Hyde Park area.

Jerk Alfredo Pasta with chicken comes with garlic bread and salad. A little bland but overall good. Throw a little of your favorite seasoning on it or some hot sauce it'll be fine lol

I have to admit, I'm a fan of all things consistent. I'm also a fan of things that know what they are and don't try to be more than that. This Nathan's, for example, isn't high end cuisine. It's casual dining to its core. I have not tried to eat the Jamaican cuisine, I stick to the grilled chicken pita sandwich with tomato, lettuce and onions, along with ranch dressing and fries. It won't win any awards for design, but when you need food and are in the area but don't want something heavy...I frequent this spot. People I know have had other of the American-ized dishes and have not complained.

Great Place for a quick bite in Hydy Park. The place has a variety of food on its menu. Nathan's has been in business over 25 years and still going strong. Try the Grilled Chicken over Spanish Rice, see pics.

a hot dog on a bun

Ordered chili cheese dog. Almost 5 bucks. Flavor wasn't bad. But came with like 3 beans. And not enough cheese... I'm used to getting it in styrofoam where there's chilli on it and u get an actual meal. Not impressed. And for this was over priced.

    My cheese fry...

Was working a shift in the area one night while most spots were closing and noticed "the great food" writing in window and decided to try them out. The cashier and cook were Mexican n said there tamales were homemade. I ordered 4 tamales and 2 Chicago style hot dogs with cheese fries. Right after swiping my card for 28$ things went south. The microwave buttons were beeping n the door shut, I looked over n saw my tamales being nuked to hell. My hotdogs came out a bail with Cafeteria water in it and my hotdog bun was all pale and covered in flower so much I was choking on it. Last my cheese fries were smashed at the bottom of the bag leaking through...this place is the pits!!

Solid but wouldn't get it again.

Nathan's is a staple of the Hyde Park community. There are a variety of items to choose from. American/Jamaican food. Check them out

First DUCK BACON excellent I don't eat pork except bacon. Yes, I'm on the team that bacon is not pork LOL!!! The duck back to was good. I couldn't taste the difference. I hate turkey bacon, EVERY TIME Ive tried turkey bacon, it was tasteless and expensive. The duck bacon was lean and tasty. I highly recommend trying it. Second for me is the biscuit. The biscuit was so good, I sat long enough to know I needed to take one home. I had the catfish, grits and greens. Everything delicious. The catfish was mouth watering. My friend had the peaches' special. First of all, those potatoes called my name!! Delicious. The icing on the cake was the Chef's visit. Trellis or Trillis, I'm from the country, so that's what I heard!! He visited our table, and we shared our delight in the well-prepared meals. It's evident that the meals were prepared with love and care. Everyone at the restaurant was pleasant. The staff were all professional and taking care of business. The space is open you don't feel as if you are seated with a neighboring table. It was bright and well lit. We had an amazing experience. I highly recommend! The portions are generous. Everyone was super nice and friendly - gives off that old school diner where everyone is family. Just got a basic breakfast meal that consisted of eggs, sausage, and a side of pancakes. Ordered some bacon on the side. Everything was really good and the sausage was deliciously crisp and had that "snap". The pancakes were soft and fluffy. The price is also very reasonable. Also, they have Barack Obama breakfast specials. So cool as it looks like our former President frequently ate here as he has pictures up on their wall with the workers.
