I really enjoy the turkey burger. however, it's a hit or miss if you get a good burger.

They may not put the "fast" in fast food, but you'll find that it was worth the wait. I've been following them since when they were originally located in Bronzeville in the late 80's. I was treated to a double turkey burger with pepper jack cheese and grilled onions, along with a side of fries. I De-clare!! I would be hard pressed to find another one like theirs. I was fed and full that night. You shouldn't argue with a winning combination. Just eat and enjoy. I'm glad they're still on the scene. Average wait is about 45 minutes, so bring something to pass the time. On the other hand, just order ahead and watch all the jealous waiting heads turn as you swoop in and out with your bag. read more

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!! Prices on the menu do not correspond to the cash register. For example, I ordered a double turkey that was listed on the menu for $15.00 and I was charged $18.00. After inquiring about the price discrepancy, the first person just acted stupidly as if she did not understand my concern, and the second person was no better and told me that the price on the menu was not accurate. Go figure??? I do not understand how much effort it takes to change the price on a chalkboard, which by the way, was artistically and beautifully done. read more

I ordered at 3:48 pm on 04/16/2025 (today). Now I pass by this business all the time, but this was my first time coming in. I was greeted kindly by the cashier & she was patient with me and answered my questions & said it would be 15-20 minutes. No problem. I ordered an Impossible burger with sweet potato fries. I WAS THE ONLY ONE THERE. The menu says ALL BURGERS SERVED WITH MUSTARD, KETCHUP, LETTUCE, PICKLES, and GRILLED ONIONS. I waited patiently, nice environment. Got my order & everything went well. I left and 15 minutes out, I check the burger and don't see ANY GRILLED ONIONS. So I called and asked why I didn't get onions on it when it's stated to come with it & how can they fix this. They offered to fix it for me to come back right away but I was so far out already and traffic was bad and told them that wouldn't work and she said I'm not sure what I can do for you. So I asked to speak to the manager. Manager got on the phone with me and offered to compensate me with a burger on them next visit within the next 5 days with receipt. I said okay, thank you for fixing the issue with her offer and asked for her name. She started to say "Hello? hello?" as if the line cut off and then hung up on me. I tried to call again TWICE, and both times went straight to voicemail, no ringing. Must've blocked me. I called off another number and they answered and got the name of the manager, Paige. If I decide to visit next week, I will see if they truly care about customer satisfaction. read more

The food is good but the customer service is terrible. They seem to have young people taking the order and they can't follow whats asked. I went to their website and they offer chicken tenders when I called and asked for it. The womans response was first of all we don't have chicken tenders. I always order two burgers when I stop by. Years ago when they were in South Shore, they were the only place with turkey burgers. Now you can find turkey burgers in the area, but none are as well seasoned as these. I started going for the turkey burgers but keep coming back for the black bean burgers. These are hands down the best black bean burgers I've ever had. They aren't dry and pasty like most black bean burgers. I ordered on the Grubhub app which allows for you to check the condiments you want in your burger. I did not check mayo bc I'm allergic to it but my turkey burger arrived loaded with it. This is the 2nd time it's happened but there will not be a 3rd time. How hard it is to read and follow the customers request. I believe they can accomplish good food and services. They first have to go back to cooking burgers turkey & beef burgers like the original owners (Alice and husband) did. The new owner is trying to make things better, but the original recipe is what grew the customers. But I like that they are adding shakes and other rewarding items to the menu without over doing it. The cashier is decent, she just needs to be more welcoming with the customers. She does have some good qualities as she will not argue but try to fix the issue. Please train whomever is taking phone orders or window orders, in the fundamentals of providing excellent customer service and to provide it consistently. Went to That's a Burger on 10/8/24 and was there for 50 minutes waiting on a turkey burger. Three men and a lady ordered behind me. The three men got their orders and were gone. Me and the lady were still there. When I got home which is less than five minutes away my burger and fries were lukewarm. So, the food was ready earlier. The lady working the cash register and giving your order let my food sit there until she was ready to give it to me. I did inquire about my order twice. This lady has a strong resemblance to another there lady. I have ordered from the other lady before with no problem. This lady should not be working there or needs to be trained better. The food is honestly very good. Every time I go I get a turkey burger with pepper jack cheese. It doesn't take long for them to prepare your food so expect a ten to fifteen minute wait. The most recent time I went in their card machine was down so they were only taking cash which was an inconvenience. Also the most recent time I wanted to go they were closed and it wasn't on a Monday, which they usually are closed on. So they do close randomly and fairly earlier to be completely honest.
