I really want to give this place 4 stars but they fell short. We went on Memorial Day weekend. It was hardly anyone in there upon arrival, but the staff already seemed overwhelmed. They were all very kind and accommodating, but seemed to be short staffed. We did enjoy the mimosa. They tasted delicious and were a good size. The bottomless mimosas option is a great value. Where they fell short was the food. The menu for brunch is nice, but the execution from the kitchen fell short. Items came out randomly and not in any order. People were missing items or they were given wrong items. It was clear the kitchen couldn't keep up with what became a fairly full restaurant. It is very cute. Nice space. Plenty of room for large parties. Nice decor. But they need more staff. I would return for the mimosas and wine and to support them. They were all so kind. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were met with a truly welcoming atmosphere. The wonderful lady at the hostess station greeted us with such a warm smile and infectious positive energy that it immediately set the tone for the rest of our visit. Although I didn't catch their name, their kindness made a lasting impression. The playlist was absolutely phenomenal and perfectly complemented the ambiance, which was equally fantastic. The drinks were expertly crafted and just as impressive, making the start of our meal even more enjoyable. For our entrees, my partner chose the shrimp and grits and found them to be quite tasty. I went with the smoked corned hash, which had a delightful flavor, though it was a bit heavy on the salt for my taste. While I probably wouldn't order it again, it was still enjoyable overall. Our only concern during the visit was the long wait for our food. Despite the restaurant not being busy at the time, it took about 45 minutes for our meals to arrive, and we noticed a few tables that came after us received their food before we did. However, the same fantastic hostess quickly addressed our concerns by offering complimentary beverages and apologizing sincerely. They even summoned the chef over to apologize as well, which was a classy gesture that truly impressed us. Where do I start? Ok... my wife and I wanted to try this place out on our date night. This was our first and last time there. Let me explain why! My wife made reservations for 5:45pm which we were seated right away. The hostess asked my wife, "would you like a table or booth?" My wife stated a booth. We were seated along a row of tables that was lined with a wall seat/couch and the other side of the table was a chairs. No booths insight! She sat us right next to the DJ booth which was kinda awkward due to the DJ was sitting in her section while facing my right side of my body. The waitress name Corrine (which was very nice but horrible service) took a long time serving our table. She took a long time coming to our table but very attentive to the other tables/guest. I was not interested by the way the "wine" menu was printed. The cover was stained, the pages inside were cut with a dull paper trimmer guillotine. The words were faded. The food menu was stained and reused over and over. They do not take pride into wiping their glasses, which there was major water spots on them. The price of the wine is ridiculous. 5oz glass ($13-$17), 8oz glass ($17-$24) and the bottle is priced over $45. I only tried the Brussel sprouts which were tasteless and burnt. My wife wanted a meal but she got so irritated, she declined of wanting anything to eat from there. Also the waitress wasn't even around enough for us to ask her "excuse me, where is the restroom?" While sitting there, I seen a male waiter wearing a skull cap and a sling bag on his chest. That is not appropriate for that type of setting, I know what that sling bag means when males wear them... When my wife finally got the waitress attention, she asked for the check. The waitress sensed something was wrong and kept pressing my wife by asking what was the issue, which made my wife highly upset. Now she (the waitress) want to show care that we even existed. Don't get me wrong, she was nice but the service was damaged and she couldn't make it right. My wife had a horrible experience with finally finding the restroom, only to be greeted with someone attempting to come inside. Once my wife yelled that she was inside there, the banged on the door and went to the other restroom. The parking is horrible and the prices is ridiculous. From the other guess reviews, the food doesn't look that advertising. I was looking to spend about $100 -$200 just for a night out but I'm glad I didn't. There's no need to tip because the service is automatically included. Only thing I liked about the restaurant is the music and a mixed clientele setting. Alright this place was a whooooole vibe! I recently came in October for a friend's birthday and we truly enjoyed ourselves. Our server was gorgeous and very friendly. She offered us free wine to taste that was very good for a white wine lover. We ordered - 2 coconut curry salmon dishes, herb crusted rack of lamb, brussel sprouts shareable, and all their mocktails. Then my sister got their fruit sorbet with sparkling wine. Everything was very very good. This wasn't your typical restaurant food but very upscale and carefully prepared. One of the coconut curry salmon dishes came out with the wrong sauce and they made sure to fix it as well as offer free appetizers to make up for it. And I don't know why but their watermelon nojito was so good I got like 3 The night we came it was pretty busy and they had a DJ. I am grossed out by runny eggs so I asked for it to be cooked over hard. I probably should've said over medium accounting for the fact they would continue to cook because it was served in the skillet. It was delicious and flavorful plus a bit spicy . I tried my cousins chicken and it was perfection! Perfectly seasoned, crispy and juicy. Yum! We went to celebrate my sister's birthday, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was top-notch. The hostess was incredibly kind and immediately asked if we were celebrating anything. When we said it was my sister's birthday, she surprised her with a complimentary glass of champagne; such a thoughtful touch! I've found another gem in Bronzeville! I took advantage of restaurant week and dined solo at Bronzeville Winery. Upon entry, you are greeted by the host and the bar! The bar is literally 4 steps from the door. One of my besties was supposed to join me for dinner but couldn't make it so I dined solo. I was seated right across from the Dj booth, facing the dinner room. The music created a vibe, the lighting was dope....a nice vibe. I decided on the restaurant week menu with caviar. My first experience like this with caviar and it was ok. Caviar was....salty but yet enjoyable. My next selection was their bread with butter. Yummers!!! I I loved it. I mean if we can't get good bread and butter...what are doing ‍ My next selection was a dinner salad topped with pomegranate seeds and goat cheese. Another delicious entree. I have eaten at the Bronzeville Winery quite a few times since it has opened. On my last visit, I was shocked at the decline of quality. From the moment we walked in, it was obvious that this evening was not going to go well. The hostess greeted us with a blank stare when we gave her our name (we had a reservation) She didn't know how to tell us that our table wasn't quite ready. We had to wait for a manager to get that information. Apparently, she was new so, we gave her a break. We were directed to the bar to wait for our table. The bartender was not familiar with the beer my husband ordered because she was also new and still learning the menu. While waiting for our table we began to notice just how shabby the space was looking. The walls were filthy, the bar was sticky and the chairs were banged up. No one came to get us when our table wasn't quite ready as promised. We noticed that other people were being seated so, we gathered our things and asked if they were ready for us--they were but they forgot about us. We were seated at another sticky/shabby table. Our second drink and appetizer did arrive rather quickly. That said, the Brussel sprouts were not as good as I remembered. But that's ok because we decided to splurge on the short ribs and we were very much looking forward to that. Expect our waitress forgot to enter our order. It was her first day. She offered us free "bubbly" but I don't drink so, that was not an option. At this point, we were so hungry that we decided to go home because we had food in the fridge. I was a bit surprised when the waitress said that she would be back with our bill for the sprouts. I knew that the bill was going to come with a 20% tip automatically added which she absolutely did not deserve. Thankfully the manager arrived to apologize and let us know that she would take care of the bill. The manager seemed like the only competent person working that night. My husband and I are Southsiders. We very much want to support businesses down here. We were thrilled when BW opened because we need good places to eat down here. If you are going to charge Loop prices ($50 for short ribs!?!) you must provide flawless service. We saved up for a fun date night. He gave us complimentary wine because he said the kitchen had gotten backed up. Our sever then told us the same thing and that she wouldn't take orders for another 15/20 minutes. Our reservation was at 8:30pm on a Friday and we arrived on time. We didn't order until 9pm and didn't get our entrees until 9:45pm. So we were still eating at 10pm. This was a long wait. We saw a table of people leave and others were complaining. We did get an order of Brussel sprouts come out before our main courses to hold us over around 9:15pm, but the wait was just unacceptable. I don't know why the kitchen wasn't ready for a Friday night crowd, but it is what it is. Our server, Cierra, was nice but she didn't go out of her way to apologize or check on us either. That was a missed opportunity. Food wise, I had the salmon tagliatelle. The salmon was seasoned well and was a good portion. The pasta, unfortunately, was very overcooked and mushy. Plus I think there was too much pasta for the sauce. I left most of the pasta on the plate. My sister had a salad with a side of steak (keto meal). The steak was butchered and rare. She ordered medium well lol. The server took the steak off the bill after we showed it to her. It was a bad cut of meat, poorly cooked, and then cut into pieces before serving. My experience at Bronzeville Winery was so profoundly disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others. What was supposed to be a pleasant 10:30 AM brunch turned into a two-hour ordeal of poor service and subpar food. Despite having a reservation for 10:30 AM, my friend and I did not receive our entrees until 11:30 AM. A manager (or the owner) eventually came over to explain the delay, stating they "didn't like the batter" they had and someone had actually run out to get more for the chicken and waffles I ordered. While I initially appreciated the supposed commitment to quality, waiting an hour for "fresh batter" is excessive. When the food finally arrived, it was immediately clear that the wait wasn't worth it. The chicken was extremely dark--nearly black--and had an unmistakable burnt aftertaste. I also had a side of eggs that I barely touched because the entire meal was ruined by the quality of the chicken. When the manager returned to ask how everything was, I gave her my honest, respectful feedback. Rather than taking accountability for the burnt batter, she was dismissive. She told me they had cut into the chicken in the back and it was "juicy." That was completely beside the point; being juicy doesn't matter if the breading is burnt and bitter. The table next to us had ordered the same dish and was just as confused and disappointed by the dark, overcooked appearance of their meal. By the time the manager offered to remold the plate, my friend had already finished her meal (which was French toast that was also burnt but she is pregnant and pushed through the foul taste) and the experience was soured. I declined the remake and told the waitress she could take the eggs away as well. The most petty part of the entire experience was the bill. Despite the hour-long wait and the fact that I sent back an inedible meal, the manager refused to comp a $4 side of eggs. To be that pressed over four dollars after a guest waited an hour for burnt food is a level of pettiness I've never seen in the industry. It shows a complete lack of regard for the customer experience. Save your money and go somewhere that values your time and knows how to fry chicken without burning it. We went to Bronzeville Winery on a Friday night for dinner. We had a reservation for 4. It is very nice inside, though it felt more like regular restaurant than a winery. The staff were friendly, someone even randomly brought an extra chair so my friend didn't have to put her bag in the ground. The server didn't come around much and the service was slow. It took us 2.5 hrs from start to finish, which is fine... luckily the babysitter didn't mind. I had a cocktail called Catch the Fire, with tequila, honey hibiscus, spicy pineapple agave, and tajin. The pear salad was AMAZING hitting all of the flavor notes but the chicken and biscuit was underwhelming. It was poorly seasoned and luke warm the biscuit was hard, cold and mediocre at best. The salmon was delicious but the garden salad was overdressed. The staff were friendly but the service could not have been slower. Our waitress was engaging but took orders for one course at a time, and didn't come back until that course had been delivered. When we were seated, a sommelier explained the basics of wine and answered questions from the audience. Throughout the night, we were served four different wines from their collection and appetizers/cheeses. I was satisfied by the wines, food, and people who ran the event. Stopped by for Sunday brunch around 2:30pm ish, their brunch ends at 4pm so I thought we weren't too late. However the service wasn't great, not sure if they're understaffed during brunch or if they were just overwhelmed but we could not get the waitress attention for 30 minutes. We started there the bottomless mimosas for $40, hoping to get at least a few rounds. The food was decent, I had the chicken and pancakes, the chicken taste like it was fried in fish batter. Which I wasn't entirely mad it, just something to note. The breakfast burger wasn't half bad either, comes with a ton of fries. I'd heard good things about this place, so I decided to give it a try. The ambience was nice, though the music was a bit too loud, we had to raise our voices to talk. We ordered shrimp and crispy Brussels sprouts for appetizers, which took at least 30 minutes to arrive. For the entrée, we had the Creole Salmon Tagliatelle and the Lamb Shank, which came about 20 minutes after the appetizers. The food and wine were excellent, but the wait time was excessive, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy. The menu was also limited, they didn't have the Signature Burger or Little Chicken Biscuits. Our waitress was great and handled everything well, but the long wait made the experience less enjoyable. They really need a better system. Also, automatically adding a 20% gratuity isn't a good look. read more

Checked out this awesome spot with foodie friends. We were treated to glasses of Wine or Sangria and Vegan dishes/appetizers. Star of the show: Awesome Brussels Sprouts The gracious owners introduced themselves to our tables and everyone toasted each other. Went for appetizers, will definitely be back for dinner. My GF picked this place to explore for double family date night. As a former pastry chef, she is always in the know about new places to check out and this our next adventure. And it was to be a great way to close out Black History Month It has been ages since I have been down this way on Cottage Grove, so to see the new development as well as this restaurant warmed my heart. The restaurant itself is a nice addition to the block. They have a great outside place that I would love to experience when the weather is nicer. Inside is a great décor, but I will say that the waiting area is on the small side with not many seats. The overall ambience is warm and I have to say sexy. It is definitely not someplace I would take a kid, this is definitely a grown person's hangout with lovely people in lovely clothes. We started dinner off with Spanish Cod Fritters, Moroccan carrots and Biscuits with a praline butter topping. The fritters were interesting and surprisingly tasty, as well as the carrots. The fritters had a lovely blend of fried Buñuelos de Bacalao, salt Cod, potato served with a lemon aioli. The carrots were crazy good, if you can believe it, I mean just carrots in an amazing sauce. The biscuits were a miss for me. The presentation was nice and I was expecting something nice and soft, but the texture seemed like the biscuits had been lightly fried or something. Also they were a little salty for me. I know salted caramel is all the rage, but this just didn't work for me. For my main course, I went with the burger. It was well executed and delish. The Queen got the Brick oven baked Mac and cheese with lobster. While she loved the dish overall, she felt there wasn't much lobster in the dish based on the extra charge. My GF got this amazing Rosemary potato flatbread. This is a person who always takes food home, but this time she became a member of the Clean Plate Club. I had a small piece and I will say that as a hardcore meat eater, this flatbread was legit and could see myself eating it. For dessert The Queen got this Dragon fruit sorbet. As someone who is familiar with the fruit, she said it was legit and gave it the two thumbs up. Prices are on the high side for the menu, especially for wines. Y'all know I love my bubbles and have no problem spending $$$, but there are times my brain kicks into sensible mode and starts comparing consumer to retail prices, assessing the quality/serving against the price. I am fully aware of the mark-up at most places and will ignore it on most occasions, but this was not one of those times. On the menu was a Moet & Chandon Imperial Brut, Champagne, France (NV) for $300. This is a very lovely wine and I buy it all the time, but have never spent more than $65 since it is non-vintage. For an extra $25, I can get a 2013 Dom Pérignon at Pops for Champagne and have done so. So you are probably wondering why this is 3 star review instead of a 4 star review...it all came down to service. Our server was very nice and had a lovely personality, but our service was slow and spotty. Drinks did not come out in a timely fashion and when they did, some were missing. As for the food, we were half-way through out appetizers when the entrées came out. A second round of drinks resulted in her bring my friend's beer. It seemed like about 15-20 min before it materialized. There was an event going on during our time there in a separate section of the restaurant. I am not sure if our server had to work that as well, but our service was not the best. The experience for me overrode most of the great dishes served and that is too bad. Most likely we will give this place another try and chalk up our experience to a bad night. read more

I was wondering why service was so crappy. They have an automatic 20% service charge even for 1 person. There was no way I was going to give that server 20%. More like 10%. I won't be back. read more
