Came here for a girls brunch and had a great experience overall. The food was truly the highlight everything was fresh, flavorful, and served hot. I ordered a combo with lamb chops, salmon, shrimp, and mashed potatoes in a rich, Cajun Alfredo style sauce with garlic bread, plus a side of mac and cheese. The mac wasn't as baked as I prefer, but it still tasted good. The shrimp were big and juicy, and the portions were generous. Others in my group had items like fried catfish, yams, egg rolls, and cornbread, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The restaurant is BYOB, but they charge to mix your drinks, which I personally didn't love. It's also a very small space with tight seating, so I definitely recommend making a reservation. The outside area isn't the nicest, but the food makes up for it. Service started off a bit slow due to some confusion, but once our server took over, she was amazing...friendly, attentive, gave great recommendations, and made sure we were taken care of. I really wanted to enjoy my experience at Truffle, but unfortunately it fell far below expectations. My party of 4 had a reservation, yet when we arrived we were immediately sent back outside to a very small vestibule that could comfortably fit maybe 3-4 people. There were about 8 people crammed into the space, and oddly enough, there were no customers seated inside the restaurant at the time. Once seated, our service was inconsistent. Our server changed 3 different times before our entrées arrived. As appetizers came out, the table became crowded and unorganized. When our final appetizer, oysters, was delivered, a server accidentally spilled hot, buttery garlic parmesan sauce all over me, including my clothes, shoes, and phone. While the server apologized and brought a damp paper towel, there was no meaningful attempt to address the situation beyond that. I had to continue my night smelling like garlic butter and parmesan in my now ruined, stained jumpsuit. The food was underwhelming. The mac and cheese was sent back due to having no flavor, the greens were overly salty, and the yams were excessively sweet to the point of being unpleasant. We were also rushed and reminded of the 90-minute seating limit. Our bill totaled over $400, including a $20 corkage fee for the 2 bottles we bought with us. Given the service mishaps, especially the spill, I politely asked if there was any accommodation that could be made. I was initially told no, then told the server would ask, only to return 2 minutes later with the same answer; nothing could be done. No discount, no comped fees, no management contact, and no effort to make things right. That was disappointing. I hate leaving a negative review, especially for a Black-owned, established business, but accountability matters. Byob establishment: As you first walk in it gives me basement vibes. That can be a good/bad thing. The place is extra small. There is no place to wait. The high top chairs are not made for people with hips or larger butts. They are uncomfortable. My friend and I were sat near the restroom with the heat blowing right on us. Not complaining about the warmth of the place but a bit bothersome with it blowing directly on you. Teiana was nice and came in a timely manner. We had no issue with service. The rating is strictly on the food. The menu doesn't state it but the entrees do come with 2 sides. We shared the Jay's trio. My friend ordered an a la carte lobster and I added a side of Mac and cheese. We ordered the lamb chops med well. They came out well done and a bit tough to cut. The salmon was bland. Unbeknownst to us, they poured an Alfredo sauce over the mash potatoes. The sauce was good but would've preferred on the side. The shrimp was seasoned well. The Mac and cheese was 3/5. This was my first visit to Truffle, and unfortunately, perhaps my last. It was on my radar as I have dedicated most of my dining out to explore Chicago's best Black owned restaurants and bars. It was Truffle's turn to dazzle me and my partner with amazing southern-inspired cuisine. But my real-life experience was less than amazing. I will give Truffle 2 stars: one for excellent friendly service and another for presentation. Upon entering the establishment, you'll find it quite cramped with no immediate place to wait for your table. We opted to sit at the bar. BYOB, so no fancy cocktail offerings. The bar seats were quite uncomfortable as was the frigid temperature we endured being next to the large windows. Now back to the food. After scanning their offerings, I was drawn to the absurd and astounding price of 6 whole chicken wings at the cost of $30!!!! After looking at the price points on the entire menu, consensus between my partner and I that these prices would be indicative of a fine dining experience on Chicago's Gold Coast somewhere. I shook my head, then we ordered a side of greens, and one order of Buffalo shrimp (5 medium sized shrimp) which came with overly salted fries. We sent back the fries and were accommodated with unsalted fries. Nothing else was ordered. Went while visiting friends in the city, ended up inviting our family that were also in town. This venue is new, no one had tried it. They're trying to be upscale but fell flat. Chairs are wobbly & hazardous. Our server was so unprofessional it was awkward. She literally sat down at a hightop behind our table to take our order. Prices are too high. Custom lemonade were a joke for $9. I ordered a pineapple lemonade & it was horrible. Not sure how you mess up lemonade. Others were disappointed with their but I was only one to send mine back. Food choices were made were half & half. They ran out of fish so only one guest could order. Out of two salmon orders, one was good & the other must have been frozen. It came out a long time after everyone else's & was not prepared or presented the same, didn't get photo. Greens were inedible and way too salty. Egg rolls, Sweet potatoes & Macaroni & cheese were delicious. I stayed safe with shrimp & my husband enjoyed his jersey pasta dish. 20% Gratuity is too much for the basic service we were given. On February 28th, 2026, my wife made reservations for this place at 7:45 pm for 10 for her birthday dinner after finding them on Tik Tok. My mom's friend got there before we did (which was supposed to be a surprise that my mom and my sister and him were coming) and checked us in for our reservation, now when we got there this space is super small and not very accommodating for large parties. Super small tables that only one person can fit on each side. Super small vestibule area that can only fit about 2 or 3 people at most. Luckily, we were able to sit down immediately but knowing our reservation was for 10 people we only had room for 8 as they sat a couple at a table prior to us getting there which would have been for our group of 10. Now the service was not that great we saw our waitress a few times, we asked for some extra napkins and a different waitress came by and pretty much threw them at the table in front of my wife all rude like. Now this place is BYOB which to me was a great idea that we could bring our own liquor, but they only offered a variety of lemonades to drink at a price of 12.99 each and no refills. Now lets get to the food, the prices were super high. $15 for Honey Buffalo Shrimp, $27 dollars for half dozen oysters (way too much in my opinion). $40 for lambchops and 2 sides, $45 for stuffed salmon and 2 sides. The lambchops were good but for that price it should be more than just 3 lambchops, my wife's salmon was not cooked properly to the point it made her stomach her a few hours later. I ordered a side of cornbread in which I never received with my food until it was gone and having to ask about it. My wife also was told by our waitress that she would be getting a free dessert for her birthday, so she ordered fried Oreos, now as my wife was in the bathroom taking pictures a different waitress brought out the fried Oreos and placed them on the high table behind us even after them telling her they didn't order those and the waitress said its for your birthday or something. I spoke with the owner and informed him that our desert was placed on another person's table, and we would like fresh ones to go he obliged with that request. Waitress told my wife that the fried Oreos wouldn't be on the bill, but they were when my wife looked at it, so we were lied to about that. Now let's talk about payment. So, my mom, her friend and my sister left early to make room for some of our party they, her friend paid for their meal with his card and left. At that point there was still about 7 people left 3 couples and one other friend. Now we all paid when we were done and left. I get a call from my mom about 45 min after we left at about 1045PM. Asking did everyone pay and i said yes, we all paid for our meals, and she proceeds to tell me that they charged her friends card for $512 in which their 3 meals together were only about $160 or so. My mom called the restaurant to see why this charge was so high and they told her that we told them that someone told them to put it in on the card on file, which never happened let alone why would her friends card be on file when my wife made the reservation and she didn't even know he would be coming nor was there any card needed to make the reservation so how could there be a card on file. I watched each couple pay their bill and the single person as well. It was also said to my mom that everyone didn't pay but we all had proof of payment. I had everyone send me a screenshot of their payments from their accounts to show my mom so she could go back up there the next day and show them proof of their lies. And after adding the 7 bills together it was over $600. That was not including what my mom and the other 2 members bill was. So how do y'all charge his card $512 and then try and lie and say we didn't pay, that's over $700+ that was spent for my wife's birthday dinner but with the extra 300+ charge it was over $1100 dollars. This place is clearly running some kind of scam. This is why black people have issues supporting black owned businesses because they try and get over on you. This was our very first and very LAST time every visiting this restaurant. Had very high hopes for this place but after the whole bill fiasco and horrible service it was just a big letdown. I love Black-owned businesses My sister and I just finished church and were looking for a place to get something to eat. This new restaurant called Truffle was suggested, and it just so happened to be in the area I used to live in, so I was excited to try it out. The location is a nice size, almost Café style. The interior is sleek black with tables for two, but it can easily be put together if you have a larger group. They have a small bar, and the restroom is clean. They had one staff who was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu. The prices were decent, not too expensive. My sister got the salmon sliders, which she enjoyed. I got the chicken and French toast with a side of breakfast potatoes and eggs, which were good. The waiter asked me if I wanted strawberries on my French toast, which I was happy to accept; I would note that it was strawberry jam and not strawberries. Another interesting note was that they did not have ketchup or coffee, but they did have orange juice, hot sauce, and ranch. If ever in the future, I would suggest they add coffee to their menu. It is a trendy item, as is ketchup. All the food was seasoned very well, and I even met the chef. It was a very nice first experience. I would try out Truffle again, and I genuinely hope this business does well. Try Truffle if you're in the area and would like something different in Pilsen. Chicken wings were okay - the problem, chicken wings came out 2 minutes before the meal. We had to put the little lamp on the floor when our food came to make room on the table for our meals. My daughter had the suit and tie - the steak had no sear, the fat was not rendered and tasted watered, like it was thawed in water or the microwave- no flavor, no seasoning in any part of her meal. I had the red snapper - which was the opposite of my daughter's meal - everything was over seasoned. We realize this is a new business and we wish them the best. Then I had to tell myself that I am a paying customer and as a chef I would want people to be brutally honest with me if my food was lacking. So just as I was about to say something my wife asked the waitress if her or her staff happened to try the collard greens today. The waitress responds why whats wrong and my wife tells her it is super salty, I then chimed in and said yes it is salty as well as the yellow rice. The waitress then offers to exchange it for another side but at that point I was over it and turned off so I declined. She then took my meal off of the bill in which i appreciate ! We decided to give this place a try since it looked beautiful, the ambiance was very nice and perfect for a date night. Service was great as the server did check up on us frequently and made sure we were taken care of. They had a nice mock tail menu and I believe they had alcohol if I'm not mistaken. As for the food, it was decently price for the entrees and what you actually get. But I do believe there is area for improvement. We got their oysters and Buffalo checking egg roll which were both not too tasty. They oysters were very salty with little meat, and the roll barely had any filling. The chunk of chicken I did get was flavorful , I just wish there was more. As for the entrees, I got the chicken Alfredo. The chicken was delicious but the sauce was very salty, it had nice flavor but could possibly use less salt since the chicken had enough flavor. Since this Alfredo is so saucy, I would possibly recommend serving this in a shallow bowl . I never had lemon on my Alfredo which was something different. My partner got the shrimp with bacon wrapped asparagus and mashed potato's, the shrimp was delicious. The asparagus was nice but it was no where near bacon wrapped. Mashed potato's were decent but I wish they weren't as dry. Id give them an overall 2 1/2 out of 5 but I know they have the potential to be 5 of 5. read more

I ordered the catfish dinner, sides were cold! The waitress told me the burners were off and they didn't know, as to why my sides were cold. The catfish isn't at all CATFISH it's swai and I politely told her that. So mind you I had to eat just fish no side because it took more than 30 minutes to bring my two sides back out . So at this time I asked her can they compensate me a protein option being that I couldn't eat my whole meal together. She proceeded to ask me want I wanted, I said chicken being that the fish wasn't CATFISH. She was kool with that, fast forward... we are ready to pay the bill. She never provided a receipt only told us the total so I asked for my receipt and come to find out she charged me for the compensated protein I told her I wasnt paying for that she became upset and told me to go another restaurant that would compensate me.
