Tasty Chinese (mostly Sichuan style) restaurant at the NW corner of Lougheed and Willingdon…read more Parking here is available but pretty horrendous outside of business hours. There are maybe 15 spots total for 4 separate food establishments. In addition, there are no free spots in the vicinity at all. For this reason, I have tried and failed to eat at this place for several years. Finally had a chance to try during lunchtime. The best option is probably to get here by transit. The place is decently sized. Staff are friendly. Can watch them crank away at the dumpling factory. Bit of entertainment when waiting for their food. The lunch special here is great value. Comes with soup too. The sichuan marbled pork & cabbage hit the spot. That tastyy Sichuan chili pepper taste. Beautiful. There is also an option for the thick (blade) noodles with no extra charge, which is a nice perk. The quantity was huge. I left stuffed and happy. I also looked at the neighbouring tables, and their non lunch items were also huge. Special mention. Definitely trying more of their food in their future. Just be mindful of their parking situation.

Grand Chinese is a small restaurant, you can see the chef cooking and preparing the food. The decor is cute. They have so many great food on their menu and you see so many people coming to this place for pick up. I ordered their lemon chicken, dumplings and spicy soup dumplings. They were amazing. Loved the flavour and the spices, they were so yummy. The service was great as well.

Finally got a chance to try this place after a few decades. Still remember when it was Dragon Inn…read more The place was packed late at night, which is always a good sign. Parking is available but limited in the lot in front. Better to look along Kingsway, or in the side streets behind the restaurant. I found it hilarious that the lot specifically prohibits parking for Tina Cake next door. Guess that must've been a problem over the years. The inside is plain and quite dated (old school). Looks like something out of the 1980s. Awesome. Staff are friendly and helpful. No complaints. Everything hit the spot in terms of authentic Cantonese. I had the stir fried beef with black pepper sauce, Hainan style chicken, and sweet and sour pork. Everything tasted great. Portion sizes are decent, and prices are quite reasonable. As the dishes are shared, it is best to come in groups (at least 3-4) so more dishes can be ordered. Looks like I've found my go-to for late night Cantonese food. Recommended.

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 6 Value: 7 Overall: 6 Cantonese food is generally good in Vancouver. This place has been decent in the past and consistently put out large portions of food at reasonable prices. I don't believe anything is outstanding, but always an overall enjoyable meal. Service is relatively friendly too. On a recent night, the most memorable dish had to be the Bean Sprouts w/ Salted Fish, which was full of umami and went well with a bowl of white rice. The Steamed Oysters w/ Garlic Sauce, Beef Chow Fun, and Seafood Chow Mein were all solid. However, the Dry Scallop Fish Maw Soup was bland, and the Goose Casserole w/ Taro was a major disappointment. Reminder to self, I originally wanted to order Tofu Skin in Dry Scallop Sauce, but was convinced otherwise. The recommended dish had snow pea leaves that were a bit tough, though the supreme broth and tofu skin that came with it were yummy. Next time, I want to try my initial selection. Also, don't forget that cheap late night eats is something I should come back for.

Absolute BEST dim sum I've had yet. Made to order, the food was hot, juicy, and tasted just right…read more Not greasy or oily, just pure juiciness. We tried to go to other places around town for dim sum but others were too busy or only took reservations. I'm so glad we ended up here. Portions are huge so be careful when ordering! We ordered a lot and ended up having plenty to take home after. 12/10 recommend this place for delicious dim sum!

Overall: 3.5/5 This was a last-minute family dinner, and…read morewith such a large group, Royal Palace had the seating capacity to comfortably host us. With about 9-10 people per table, we were treated to what felt like at least ten courses. There wasn't much time for photos, as conversation and catching up naturally took precedence. The standouts were the seafood fried rice and the green onion lobster and crab stir-fry -- rich, comforting, and generously flavoured, the kind of dishes that quietly anchor a long meal. It was a busy holiday weekend, and the restaurant was packed. Our original 7:00 p.m. reservation was delayed until 8:00 p.m., leaving many of us waiting outside in the cold. Once seated, the pacing felt off, with dishes arriving out of sequence, which gave the meal an oddly disjointed rhythm. A small apology or update from the staff would have been welcome, but none came. Overall, the food was very tasty, and I would consider returning -- particularly to explore more of their seafood offerings.
