Travelling from Los Angeles to Seattle and decided to stop by Narrative Coffee on my way to Vancouver after reading the great reviews. So glad I did. Lady at the counter was very friendly, helpful and courteous. Turns out everyone at the place were very nice and courteous. We ordered the Avocado Toast, French Toast, Breakfast Burrito and the Skillet Potatoes. All very tasty and seasoned just right. French toast was good but more like a cinnamon roll rather than a classic French toast style. Still was tasty. Would love to come back if I am ever in the area again. =) read more

Love this place! The vibe, the food, the coffee, always stellar. A 5 for sure. Unfortunately EVERY single time we visit regardless if it is 4 or 2 of us, or just me, there is never a place to sit. With only 6 tables, 2 couches & 9 bar seats, I inevitably find myself waiting for a seat. With remote workers taking up an entire table alone, a coworking meeting on the couches & a couple sitting in the middle of a group table, I am left waiting for a spot to open up. I am flexible & can usually wait for a seat but that doesn't work when I bring my husband or family. Was absolutely starving one morning and I heard through coworkers that Narrative had great breakfast. Can confirm great, but a little pricey. I ordered the breakfast biscuit sandwich without aioli and add bacon, add avocado. Ended up being $19. I did not order coffee either. First, you are greeted with the moniker on the door "we are glad you're here," I loved that. Then you walk through the door and are given a warm welcome and hello from the cashier. No attitude at this place. The coffee is delicious as is the pastry I had (almond - marzipan danish). They offered to heat it up which was a lovely surprise. The coffee was spendy at almost $9 for a tall, double- almond milk latte, but it was worth it. The space is cozy with lighting that matches the 7am, dark outdoors. What I mean is, there is nothing worse then getting blasted with harsh lighting first thing in the morning... you won't get that here. Lovely background music to add to the vibe. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Came here on my birthday a few months ago and had one of the best biscuits I have ever tasted. The jam served with it was not from a jar. The biscuit was huge, soft, butter and just a hint of sweetness. It is also expensive so I waited to go back. Fast forward to today! I recently had surgery and my appetite returned so I thought I would treat myself to a biscuit for breakfast. What a mistake. This biscuit today tastes old and very hard on the outside. I don't know if it is day old or over baked. It is definitely darker in color. I want to say it is old and reheated bc it is dry and has a weird taste and smell to it like it was brushed with oil or butter or cooked in it in an effort to try to reheat it. It is crunchy and dry and big. What a huge waste of money. I am so incredibly disappointed. Also it was served with what tastes and looks like mashed up cranberry jelly from a can. I wish we could get our money and time back as it was over a 45 minute trip for such a disaster. The biscuit was the ONLY thing my family liked from our first trip. The drinks are overpriced and not good tasting. The food was not good. The employees were not friendly. Kind of bummed that I found this place on my last day of travel but on the upside, I am so happy I did! I was so content with everything about this place. From the customer service, to the things on the menu, to the taste of my latte and the amazing skillet that I ordered. If you're into in-house, crated lattes, this is your spot. A cute, chill coffee shop with real brick interior in the main part of Everett! I don't come up to Everett often but I'll be sure to stop by here for coffee next time I'm in the area. My favorite food that I got to try with my friends was the biscuit and shroomy graves. Food The biscuits and shroomy graves was the favorite breakfast food that I got to try. The biscuits here are super soft and the warm gravy complimented them so well. The gravy was thick so a coffee went with it well. I got a half order of avocado toast and it was good but personally did not like the pickled vegetables on top of it. My friends liked it though. Everything else about it was good though. The grilled cheese had a nice cheese pull and tasted great! Bread was nice and crunchy! I got a plain black iced coffee with nothing added in and it was a nice full flavor. Atmosphere The interior is super cute with the brick walls and plants hanging from the ceilings. It nice and clean inside with a good amount of seats to lounge around while you sip your coffee. Noise level is not too loud either. Pricing A little bit more than average for a coffee and food but worth the flavor. Probably won't get full off it but it will be satisfying. Service  Good and fast service. You are greeted by the front counter when you walk in and order from there. Bus your own table when you are done. Other Street parking around. I went on Saturday morning right when they opened at 8am, and by 8:30am they were at almost 75% capacity so fills up fast. read more

Delicious coffee and unique flavors. The inside is quite large with lots of seating. Food choices galore. We tried the Ritual Mocha (hot), chai (iced) and salted bourbon butterscotch (hot). This is a late-lunch review. We came in after breakfast service had stopped for the day, but with full intention of eating an entire meal. It was an effortless change of course to manage, and now, on the very next morning, we're getting ready to head up and try the breakfast again. This place is that good. It's downtown Everett, and on the surface, some of the buildings look rough enough that you could be forgiven for not expecting anything fancy anywhere you go in. In fact, this building looks about that rough, but this joint's reputation so far precedes it that we had no doubt about how good everything was going to be. Inside, it's a long, narrow, high-ceilinged brick shoebox, with a few skylights brightening spots here and there. The old wooden beams give it a bit of a historic maritime warehouse feel. The mid-century scandinavian tables and chairs fit right in, and the blond-wood-clad bar in the middle does as well. Even though the furnishings seem a half-century newer aesthetically than the structure does, it all works beautifully. One of the first things you see is the pastry case, and please, pay attention to that. These guys know what's up with a bag of flour. All the baked goods are amazing. Next to that is the cheerful, friendly young person taking your orders, answering questions, making you feel completely taken care of even when there's a line. And there's always a line. They just always take care of ya. You get a table number and leave your name. They call you up for your drinks, and bring your food to you at your table. We got two sandwiches, a biscuit, the soup, two coffees, and an iced tea. Wetmore sandwich Not a huge sandwich. Stop being such a pig--it's delicious! You can always order seconds, ya hog. Crusty, thick, chewy bread, finished on a panini press for the perfect extra iota of crunch. Salty sweet ham, brie just melting, nice combination of flavors. Biscuit Comes out with whipped butter and preserves that were maybe golden raspberry or stone fruit. Absolutely fantastic stuff all around. The biscuit isn't that low-country style where you could pull it apart and it looks like a deck of cards with all the layers, I'd guess you could describe this as more French. Smooth, golden-brown exterior. Flaky light crumb inside. I could eat 17 of these. Don't tell my pancreas. Corn chowder Awesome fresh corn, nice and sweet--sweet enough to add to the sweetness of the soup overall, for sure. Very light consistency, almost brothy by chowder standards, but still very much a chowder. Gremolata (parsley, lemon, garlic) drizzled over the top. In the end, this is a very mildly-flavored soup, with probably 75% of the flavor being the corn sweetness. I could go way bigger with other flavors, but this is super comforting and it's easy to see why it's always on the menu and always popular. Iced tea Solid, flavorful, always a welcome addition to the table. Pourover coffee My sister and I each got a cup of the Salma Bermudez "advanced fermentation" coffee, made via pourover. Just black coffee for each of us. So damn good. Huge nutty, lightly citric, and chocolatey flavors in a very refreshing and delicious cuppa mug. It was $8 and at least 5x as good as most coffees that cost half as much (if they don't actually cost more than half). I'm getting another cup of it within the next couple hours. Even at that price. The kids here are super focused throughout, dialed right in on what they're doing. Everything comes out perfectly prepared, every time. It's wonderful to get coffees and foods prepared attentively by people who really care. The crowd here is everyone under the sun--hardhats, hipsters, hippies, tree huggers, students, churchy types, bland suburbanites (like me), and probably a ton of others I'm forgetting. If you're in the area and they're open, come in, get food or coffee, and enjoy yourself. read more

It's a cafe, but if you're serving brunch food like a french toasted baguette and a breakfast sandwich, I'm going to sit down and eat that. Honestly the form factor of using a baguette for french toast is not smart my guy. The egg just hardens the bread and makes it tough y'all. The sandwich was pretty good though. I had Narrative Coffee bookmarked for awhile. Finally, I had the opportunity to check out this indie in downtown Everett after wandering Funko down the street on Wetmore (8/31/19). Great layout with exposed brick, wood, and natural light. Cool merchandise. Spacious with various seating options available. Window counter, couch, tables, communal tables and wrap around counter by the centralized ordering area. Tantalizing baked goods under covered glass domes. And an honor bar towards the back if you're just picking up drip coffee. Clean restroom too. Friendly staff, cool and inviting vibe, and best part, wait for it....outstanding coffee (Velton)! We had a regular iced mocha and a lavender mocha, both spot on! Again, nothing like this in Shoreline. A great find and look forward to future detours off I-5 to stop by! Needing a caffeine kick and having the cafe a short walking distance from my hotel made it an easy decision to check out Narrative Coffee. Walking in around 11am the place was very lively/packed, and appears to be a local favorite. The place is pretty small, compared to the photos, but to me it gave off a comfortable/cozy vibe. The staff was really nice and I was immediately greeted when I walked in. I opted for an 8oz latte to go, with tip it came out to about $6, which is a bit hefty for the size but it had quite the kick. Definitely woke me up, which to me made it worth it. If you're planning to sit in to work or catch up with friends, there's several seating options: a few couches, counter seating at the entry/window and at the bar. However, with the small space the seating fills very quickly so I'd suggest getting there pretty early or be prepared to wait. There's plenty of street parking, and I believe some open paid parking lots a few feet away. In town to visit the Funko HQ? Narrative is about a 3-5min walk to Funko. read more

Friends told us about this place and I am so glad they did. Narrative is right around the corner from Courtyard where we stayed for a wedding. Walking in this place has the vibe of any modern hipster coffee shop. Exposed beams, sunlights and bricks line the walls and the decor is a modern clean feel. You are quickly greeted by their coffee bar and fresh baked pastry presentation. The smell is also inviting and creates the desire to check out their coffee and food options. Coffee lovers they have pour over options and they also have an honor bar at the back where you can pick up and pay for coffee on mobile iPads. We tried both to see what the house coffee was like and I am a sucker for pour overs (La Palma -amazing) For breakfast we had the traditional and a biscuit sandwich with egg, arugula and bacon. The potatoes kill and they nailed classical breakfast fare. My only regret, we don't live here - love this place we will be back! read more

The ritual mocha was amazing! Strong coffee and dark chocolate just what I like it! The breakfast biscuit was good too. I'd prefer having gravy on top as the biscuit was a little dry. However I can tell the biscuit is not some store bought, the egg is perfectly cooked, pretty sure organic. Arugula is fresh and right amount of seasoning with a hint of garlic. Yumm! About the service, as I was walking into the shop, right away the guys at the counter asked me if it was my first time. While the guy had a customer in front of him, there was no time for me to wonder around. Hey, THAT IS customer service in my definition, two thumbs up! When I said yes, they directed me to the menu with no corny smile. The price was a bit high considering it's Everett. But the ingredients they use and the dedicated employees make it worthwhile. I recommend this place to anyone who loves coffee and to who want to try out fantasy experience in Everett neighborhood. Update: stopped by this place after the dr appt at providence, about 5 min away. This place has an updated menu, more options! They even have some pastries from Rila bakery in Lynnwood, another one of my favorite. I'm so happy they added biscuit and gravy, my breakfast favorite. I choose biscuit and gravy if anyone has it on the menu. I've tried so many of them in the area and couldn't find the good gravy. I love the mushroom gravy at Narrative coffee. It was so flavorful perfect balance of mushroom, cream and salt. Chives on top was a nice compliment to the dish as well. I have to say the gravy was the best of all I've tried. The biscuit was pretty hard and dense inside. It could be moister and softer for Biscuit and gravy in my opinion. That's just my preference. I wanted to have the mocha I had in the past but thought it was too much with the gravy. So I ordered Americano. Not sure if I like it.
