But at $4.50 it's a bit steep for a second cup. The baked eggs were totally well made and delicious although they could call themselves slow food dining here. I almost bought a bag of the coffee I had but when I asked the fellow at the counter if it was shade grown, he said there is no such thing. Disappointing. But the food and coffee is good here and if I wasn't watching my pennies, I'd come back again. Friends told us about this place and I am so glad they did. Narrative is right around the corner from Courtyard where we stayed for a wedding. Walking in this place has the vibe of any modern hipster coffee shop. Exposed beams, sunlights and bricks line the walls and the decor is a modern clean feel. You are quickly greeted by their coffee bar and fresh baked pastry presentation. The smell is also inviting and creates the desire to check out their coffee and food options. Coffee lovers they have pour over options and they also have an honor bar at the back where you can pick up and pay for coffee on mobile iPads. We tried both to see what the house coffee was like and I am a sucker for pour overs (La Palma -amazing) For breakfast we had the traditional and a biscuit sandwich with egg, arugula and bacon. The potatoes kill and they nailed classical breakfast fare. My only regret, we don't live here - love this place we will be back! read more

The ritual mocha was amazing! Strong coffee and dark chocolate just what I like it! The breakfast biscuit was good too. I'd prefer having gravy on top as the biscuit was a little dry. However I can tell the biscuit is not some store bought, the egg is perfectly cooked, pretty sure organic. Arugula is fresh and right amount of seasoning with a hint of garlic. Yumm! About the service, as I was walking into the shop, right away the guys at the counter asked me if it was my first time. While the guy had a customer in front of him, there was no time for me to wonder around. Hey, THAT IS customer service in my definition, two thumbs up! When I said yes, they directed me to the menu with no corny smile. The price was a bit high considering it's Everett. But the ingredients they use and the dedicated employees make it worthwhile. I recommend this place to anyone who loves coffee and to who want to try out fantasy experience in Everett neighborhood. Update: stopped by this place after the dr appt at providence, about 5 min away. This place has an updated menu, more options! They even have some pastries from Rila bakery in Lynnwood, another one of my favorite. I'm so happy they added biscuit and gravy, my breakfast favorite. I choose biscuit and gravy if anyone has it on the menu. I've tried so many of them in the area and couldn't find the good gravy. I love the mushroom gravy at Narrative coffee. It was so flavorful perfect balance of mushroom, cream and salt. Chives on top was a nice compliment to the dish as well. I have to say the gravy was the best of all I've tried. The biscuit was pretty hard and dense inside. It could be moister and softer for Biscuit and gravy in my opinion. That's just my preference. I wanted to have the mocha I had in the past but thought it was too much with the gravy. So I ordered Americano. Not sure if I like it. The coffee and snacks offered are very good, excellent quality. The employees are friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable on the coffees they're serving. Cute little coffee spot with delicious fresh sandwiches! Everything is made in the open kitchen and comes out fast! The ingredients were top quality. I go here on the weekends specifically for the butter croissant. I love the vibe of the spot, and the staff have been kind every time I've come. I decided to branch out and try their breakfast burrito and was disappointed. It had zero flavor, and all of the bacon was on one side lol It does come with aoli and salsa on the side, so I'm assuming that's where I'm supposed to get the flavor from but without those sauces the eggs and potatoes were just overwhelmingly bland, some potatoes were undercooked too which wasn't a pleasant surprise lol. Popped in on a Saturday as I'd heard good things and it was super busy. We squeezed in the back corner, I think they may be able to fit more seating here, but everyone around was friendly and made room. Coffee was delicious but they were out of oat milk which was a little bummer. My sister tried the biscuit sandwich and I had the avocado tartine. Both were delicious and filling but it's a bit spendy, $20 before tip for my two items alone. The customer service and atmosphere are great, as was the food so I guess you get what you pay for. Let's start with it's small (as others have said) for $6 plus tip (awkward alert: They stare down at the iPad as you type). Then let's add a surprise: free griddle grit hidden on the bottom. If burnt stuff weren't there, the waffle would be okay -- nice sugaring crunch on a couple edges, although the dough itself needs some work in terms of flavor; my best waffle ever tasted like a donut. We were surprised by the fact that the vibe is super chill and you could feel the love for coffee and food in the air. The terrible customer service, over-priced food/drinks options, and underwhelming food made me feel compelled to do so after my 24 years on this planet. If you plan on coming here to get any food, make sure to wait at the door before they open because they sell out FAST. My girlfriend is Gluten-free so we came hoping to score some food that was GF friendly however, we arrived 2 hours after opening, and half their menu was sold out. Lovely that the acoustics don't overshadow a great feeling space. Also! Comfortable seating - a bit too few for such a grand space in my opinion but comfortable yet hip. Why do so many cafes forsake comfort for looks? Because they don't respect the bodies of their customers and they go cheap! Not here. But hey! Isn't this the Pacific Northwest, where people wear coats and layers much of the year? Where are the coat hooks? A detail, but one that could say, "We care about your whole experience here." Yikes, after seeing some of the replies, I am almost scared to even review them honestly. I stopped in to grab some coffee to go. Now, I am fully aware that this is the place for kicking back and enjoying the coffee and vibe. I didn't have that kind of time that day. Service was friendly and quick enough. Prices are higher than most but they were like that before inflation really kicked in so I am not sure what the response ramble was about. I just overall felt out of place here. As a resident of Everett for over 20 years, it just didn't feel awesome for me. Not their fault, just a personal preference. I may stop back in and stay to get the full experience when I want to drop some cash on coffee. read more
