This place was recommended by a friend of mine. Unfortunately this place fell extremely short of even my lowest expectations. 90% of what we ordered they "were out of". When we finally successfully ordered what they actually had in stock, they took far too long to bring it to us. We ordered a hookah and and after 25 minutes, we asked about the status of the hookah. They said it was on the way and that's when we witnessed them actually start to set it up and 10 minutes later start the coals. The gyro was actually good but the customer service is what earned the 1 star. We were obviously ignored over customers who spoke the language. I'm writing this based on their service! I've been too so many hookah places and never experienced such a bad service like that! We asked the waiter for coals and all he said I don't have any right now!! I was like wow! We had to ask about three or four times until we got coals! Also we ordered sandwiches and they took about half an hour! They need a better management! Also they had a waitress that was really rude! We asked for coke and she ignored saying that she doesn't serve our section! I understand you don't serve this section but at least go tell whoever serves it! This place is classy while being super casual at the same time. You literally just walk in and sit down anywhere, then when they notice you are there they bring you your menu. Its a good environment for studying, but its also good for bringing groups. The music plays loud so it really drowns out peoples chatter if they aren't at your table. This is why its not hard to study even during busier hours, at least not for me. My boyfriend and I are regulars at this place. They have a great variety of hookah flavors, don't charge for coals, and have some fun add-on's for your smoking experience including ice in the base, milk, energy drink in the base, candy in the base, fruit in the base, and soap to blow bubbles and do tricks with. The staff is AWESOME. I have never had a bad conversation with any of them. I gotta say, the people there are awesome too. If you enjoy diversity, you'll love Narah's. People from all walks of life show up there. Old, young, foreign, native, all sorts of races, from all sorts of places....I could go on. Very nice crowd. Very nice atmosphere. They play modern westernized middle eastern/arabic music. It creates a really cool culture blend. During Ramadan they have a huge feast and play traditional music. Sometimes when they get really busy (and they do get really busy in the late hours of the night...which actually only adds to the atmosphere positively) they play American/english music. When its busy the room gets really smokey so they are courteous and open the front door so the place can air out. If you want more room for air they have a HUGE and lovely outdoor seating area complete with heating lamps for the spring and winter. Ok, on to the food. Some nights its ok (I think I say that because I have high expectations from the nights they have really good people in the kitchen). Most nights it is amazing. They make some of the best hummus Ive had. Their rice is spot on. I really recommend their Kunafa (desert). My boyfriend enjoys their lamb shank in soup and their lemon lentil soup. I'm normally not a fan of bitter coffee but their turkish coffee is exquisite. Just, erm, don't drink the grounds. If you are unfamiliar with Arab cuisine, its very similar to greek food. If you are unfamiliar to greek food, some of this stuff may look and taste strange to you at first. I promise if you keep eating it you will aquire the taste for it and begin to enjoy it very much. I almost gave this place 5 stars but I took away one because of the manager. He can be harsh compared to how laid back the place used to be. I nearly got kicked out for bringing my own bottle of water in once (do NOT smoke while dehydrated or you will have a bad time) despite the fact that my boyfriend had already spent about $50 dollars total there. This is about how much we pay every time, by the way. You dont have to spend that much money there but its pretty easy to (we always end up taking some food home). They also used to let people share hoses too, while charging fairly cheap for the hookah. However, some customers took advantage of the leniency and wound up costing the place a lot of money and mooching off of them. I forgot the full story. Anyway, now they charge more for hookah, charge more for refills, and only allow 2 people to smoke from 1 hookah at a time. The manager seems to be on the lookout for mooching customers a lot. Guess they must have cost him a lot. The employees seem to detect when the manager is annoying people though. They are really good at defusing any frustration. I dont say that in the they-suck-up-to-you-and-give-you-a-coupon-to-shut-you-up sort of way. What I mean is they genuinely relate to you and lift your spirits. I cant praise them enough. If i could give this place a 0 star i would. The food was pretty good but the service was beyond atrocious. We got our order in for a hookah and our food and once it was delivered we never saw our waitress again. We ran out of coals then waited twenty minutes and finally decided we'd ask another waiter for more coals. OK...I'm from Arlington, but I live in LA now. So Arabic food is a dime a dozen out here. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how good it was for Arlington. Plus who'd have thunk there were so many Arabs in Arlington. Didn't smoke the hookah, but did enjoy the food. Decor is what I expected. The people were nice in there. Also this reminds me of something that drives me crazy. Persians is a made up LA word. They're Arabs or Middle Easterner's. Quit trying to be so fucking PC. Persians just sounds stupid. Two stars only because of the delicious food. Otherwise...service f**king sucks! Never had such horrible service. I'm currently here... table of 2 shouldn't be that difficult. The waitress kept getting my order wrong when she repeated it back to me... she didn't seem to remember anything 5 seconds later, asking, "So you want the sandwich with fries?... ok, with fries right?" I was about ready to yell: "OMG NO I ORDERED CHICKEN SCHWARMA DINNER PLATE WITH RICE AND SALAD. I JUST POINTED TO IT ON THE MENU FOR YOU. she was probably stoned... after checking on us once after bringing our food, she pretty much disappeared. Twenty minutes after we finished eating, she was still socializing with a table at the other end of the cafe. I was staring at her waiting for her to turn around. When she picked up the plates from the table, she dropped the fork on me and said, "Oh sh*t..." maybe she felt that was okay because we are probably close to her age, but come on... be professional?? I can work stoned and give better customer service. I'm pretty close to giving no tip. SHE WAS NICE, I'll give her that, but was not too attentive. The food used to be really great but they got rid of the cooks and that one white lady just doesn't know what shes doing. I've given this place chances after chances but she does not belong in the kitchen. The chicken tikka that used to be so juicy and tender is so hard and dry. The lamb chops are the same. It's not actually appetizing to eat food that tasted like its been reheated time and time again... im sure thats not the case but they need to invest on some real cooks. This is a nice place to visit with friends and family to enjoy good middle eastern cuisine. The eating area outside is well maintained, it is decorated by a tree, small plants, burning torches on wooden sticks and soothing sound of artificial waterfalls. I tried their chicken shawarma and it was juicy and excellently cooked. After the meal I tried the famous Palestinian dessert Kinafe which was bigger than I thought and good in taste. Thei Turkish coffee is as good as the one at Cafe Izmir (meaning its really good). After the meal we had "Narah's Secret" flavor shisha which was nice but not as good as the Double Apple flavor. The kitchen is open till after midnight, even till 1:30am. The restaurant itself closes at 2am. In my opinion, the fact that they don't have alcohol makes it even more appealing for families to hang out after hours. read more

I've been quite a few times on a Saturday night and yes the service is incredibly slow but last night is the reason I will never be back. It took them 20 minutes to actually take our order which consisted of food, tea, and hookah. We waited probably 30 minutes or more until we received the food and tea. The hookah came 10 minutes after that. We asked for mouth pieces and were told that they were out and for us to use foil and poke holes in it. When we asked Brittany, the waitress who suggested we use foil to get us some, she very rudely told us to use the dirty foil from our chicken shwarama sandwich! We told her ummm no and she said she'd be back with new foil. She didn't and instead stood chatting with people. Our original waitress came back and we told her about the gross hookah and no mouth pieces she sent someone to fix it and said that they did have mouth pieces. So finally one hour later we have our complete order. We ordered knafa at the end. Ok seems easy enough. 20 minutes later the waitress comes back saying they make it fresh and it's 20 minutes to do it. Ok we tell her we shall wait. 40 minutes later she comes back saying they are out of it. Now mind you we couldn't locate her during that 40 minute wait. We demand to speak to the manager. 15 minutes later what appears to be the manager comes with a plate of knafa. This was the worst service by far and I will never be going back. The food was mediocre nothing special. The only thing I enjoyed was the outside seating. But overall very unprofessional people running and working here. read more

My only small complaint was the service was a bit too fast. I struggled between three and four stars for this one. My husband and I come from OK to be around a real city and MidEastern food and are willing to make the drive from our hotel in Dallas to smoke hookah here. I don't care where you are, public hookahs are never going to be as good as the one you can make at home. So go ahead and get over that. Once you do, this place is pretty good. It's not nearly as expensive as other hookah places. I like the outside sitting area, as well. It's kind of bizarre decor but who cares if it's good. The first time we came I was hesitant to get the food, but it was great. I was so happy. We came here a couple of other times and were pleased. I LOVED their fatuoush which is often never well done in a public restaurant and came back just to eat it again. However, last weekend was a let down which prompted me to demote the star ranking. The service was so terrible. The waiter was nice and we were able to speak in Arabic to him, which can sometimes help at places like this. But. it. was. so. slow. I think my nails grew out while we waited just to order anything after being seated. I want to note now that my star rating is based on the food. Though the wait staff was bad enough to deserve a lower rating, I only rate stars on the taste and quality of what is being served and not who is serving it. When we were finally actually waited on, the waiter did not know what I was asking for. I have come in the past and ordered a "lemon mint" drink, which is basically a blended, frozen drink. In the past I had a younger female waitress and she was totally on point. This guy had no clue what I was asking for. We pointed it out on the menu, totally puzzled look in response. We described it in English...nope...still nothing. We described it in Arabic...nope, not registering. Okay screw it, fatuoush, sandwich, and bottled water is fine. The food was still totally fine to eat but the fatuoush was no where near as good as it had been before. It was not a bad salad, but it was not fatuoush. We ordered a shwarma sandwich and I enjoyed it. I'm not giving up on this place, but the wait staff needs to get it together. If you leave people without service, you lose them. For people who have never been here before, you will get a bad review from them that might otherwise be much better had they tasted the food. I'm still pulling for you. And please, explain what a lemon mint is to the wait staff. Much appreciated. One last thing, the disposable hoses are smart and way cleaner than other options. I don't care if others may complain about having to buy it the first time-you take it with you and bring it back when you visit. It's smart and sanitary. read more

Came here with a few friends the other night and we all had a great time. Prices for hookah are very reasonable and the food is great. We had the grilled quail app and an order of hummus with meat. Then we finished with a pot of mint tea. The only reason I knock off a star is because we went on a Monday night which was not very busy and it took about 30mins to get the first of 3 hookahs that we ordered which seemed a bit slow but we are still going to make this our hookah spot from now on. read more

My first hookah lounge and I have to say mostly a success clean surprisingly very modern atmosphere. My server was very knowledgeable and friendly. I will admit the service at first was really slow but after I got my hookah my server was fast constantly changing the coals and knowledgeable one other downside is they only use quick lights coals. Narah Cafe started out great when it first opened. They had decent service, outside seating that sort of had a college feel to it. It was one of those places that you could go and feel comfortable, sit for a few hours, smoke a Hookah and maybe even eat a decent middle eastern dish. Recently, however, things have changed. They renovated the outside seating area and made it look fantastic -- it's one of those places you just want to go and sit -- However, when you arrive they used to tell you "You need to spend at least $30.00 to sit out here!" It was quite insulting to us because we were some of the first regular customers they had. This behavior continued when it was cold and I requested one of the many propane heaters. They were quick to hand one out to people that looked like family members, but when we requested one they threw the book at us again -- "Sorry, you need to spend at least $50.00 to get one of these." The food is decent, the hookahs are decent, but this "selective treatment" of certain individuals over others is unacceptable and highly unprofessional. read more

What happened to this place?? When I went there for the first time a year or so after it opened it was nice and had that Mediterranean atmosphere that was still family friendly and welcoming. Now it's as if the hookah bar vibe took over completely, the atmosphere is sleazy and the place looks seedy, what a shame. It was much nicer before, now the walls are darkened, the seats are dirty and torn, the tabletops are greasy and the menus are grimy and greasy, as well. Upon seeing that, who in their right mind would order and expect the food or food-making process to be clean and sanitary? Let alone the service. The music is ridiculously loud and distasteful. In the corner across from us was a man with a woman on each side of him nuzzling at his neck. Like what??? The entire place is repulsive. Awful experience. Not recommended. read more

My family and I went for dinner a few nights ago and it was probably the worst restaurant service I have ever had. The waitress obviously had little to no experience and received no help from anyone else there. She had to take our order twice (deciding to write it down the second time). For some reason it was her job to cut the lemons for our waters and that took a good ten minutes. Our food all came at different times, with the last person receiving hers as we were about to get the check. Some of it (salads) we never received at all. The waitress very extremely nice, just incompetent and under trained. The part that really got me though was watching the other waitresses give each other a manicure behind the bar- disgusting. So I normally dont review alot of places. But this one had to be done. I came in last night with my wife. We had to sit out side which was ok cause the inside was packed. We were told by the host that as soon as a table by one of the two working heaters opened up we could be moved near it which we thought was great. But then when tables opened up they moved some groups of women over by it. This happened twice. I get it, play the game but don't lie to your customers. Then we asked another server, whos name was mohammed, if we could get a table closer to a heater as one had just opened up. He said that he would talk to our server, who understandably was busy because everyone and their mother was sitting in her section. He said that he would go tell her and proceded to tell the table behind us ( which was one of his tables) that they could go sit by the heater under the cover. 5 minutes later he came back by and played dumb asking if our server came and talked to us and apologized that the seats got taken. When I called him out on his bulls*** he just started to stutter and walked away. Ok so thats the really bad that pretty much killed this place for me but there were good aspects.. Our server (I cannot remember her name I just know she said she had been working their only for like 4 weeks was very good.) For as busy as she got she handled herself well and was very friendly. She got our food and drink orders in pretty quick and was very professional. The Narah Fries are good but 8 dollars for a patato slices baked with garlic/seasoning salt and parsley is a lil outrageous... but the entree prices were good. I had the beef schwarma, and honestly I just returned from a deployment to the middle east so theirs left a little bit to be demanded but it was still good and if youve never had schwarma before i would recommend it. My wife had a gyro and it was also pretty delicious. Their sweet tea was amazing and mint hot tea was also pretty good and helped warm u up a bit. Now for the last and key aspect of this establishmen. The Hookah Prices are good... but everything on their menu was out. Pink Lady, Pirates Cave, Passion Kiss, and a few others we tried to get and they were all out. We settled for Strawberry Kiwi, which was a good smoke but lacked flavor. Also the fact we had to wait for 30 minutes to get our Hookah and people who came in after us were getting theres before hand. When our server was finally able to bring it out to use she expained they got backed up and then asked if we wanted to buy a hose cause they were out. She covered the hose cost which was nice, but I think its bullshit that she had to do it when you have 4 male servers walking around with a couple hoses around their neck. So my overall impression of this place came with a great perception that it may be a little more then a hostile work environment for the women. IDK if its just cultural traditions carrying over but I feel like the type of attitude that was directed to her by her coworkers was uncalled for. So hats off to the new girl who took it on the chin and kept going and I think provided great service to the best of her ability. But the rest of this establishment seems incompetent. read more

ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS! I have never received more terrible service than I did here. First off, I arrived with a group of four (including myself) and we sat outside. For about 20 minutes, absolutely nobody acknowledged us. So we decided to move inside. Our server was very nice. When things started to go wrong was when we received our check. My best friend ordered a mixed berry shake that was on the menu for $3.95. She was charged $5.95 for a "cocktail" which was not what she ordered. When she tried to get the price fixed, the waiter told her that his boss would not let him change the price. UM, EXCUSE ME?! how dare they charge us for something we DIDN'T ORDER. We were basically forced to pay for it. That is an awful way to run a business. They need to get their act together, not to mention the establishment is a dirty mess.
