A couple of locals filed in after a short while, mostly tradesman and a local fireman. Their kitchen is slightly visible behind the counter. The ladies taking care of me kept my coffee topped off (good diner roast, nothing bad) and explained that the highlighted menu items could be ordered as a half portion. Their menu features a dozen or so omelettes, a half dozen breakfast grinders on a long roll, waffles/pancakes/french toast, S.O.S, biscuits and sausage, country fried steak and eggs, a few styles of eggs benedict, 1/2/3 egg platters, breakfast sandwiches and kids meals. (also oatmeal, cereal, bagel, muffins, grits) Just a standard 2 eggs with home fries, rye toast $5.25 and a side of bacon $5.50 was what I was after. My grub came out pretty quickly since they weren't too busy. The eggs were good, a nice portion of bacon accompanied it and the home fries were ok. The rye toast was a bit bland. I looked around and saw plenty of empty tables behind me. It looked like with a bit of passion, cleaning and updating the OCC could join a handful of great local spots that survive with a loyal following. Based on past reviews and not knowing the inside politics of the place I can't say I had a bad experience. Wawa opened down the road and I heard it put a hurting on the local spots along State Road. That's a tough hill to climb. I'll give 'em a 3.5 and would return if in the area. It's tough being a small business owner and busting your a&% while watching the constant flow at the Wawa down the street. Around $15 plus tip was around what the local competition would be at for the same portion. No one was rude or out of line on my visit, but some TLC on the inside wouldn't hurt! Thanks guys!
