This place was a small bagel stop right in a strip mall! From reviews I did not have high hopes but why not try. I walked in it smelled so good I guess bagels were being made fresh in the back! The couple is very sweet but might come off as stand-offish or rude because they are clearly in the Zone! But they are so sweet! Sad they did not have a huge selection of bagels because I always would grab a salt one. As soon as I went to my car and bit into my bagel it was so good! Cream cheese is light but not whipped and not too thick! Will definitely go here again for sure! I was in the mood for some bagels and wanted to try a new place. Today was A&S Bagel. A&S Bagel is in a nondescript strip mall in Bensalem. As soon as I walked in a bit after 10am, I almost considered walking right out. The bad smell of something burning coming from the grill or something else bad was right in my face. But I soldiered on and went to the counter. The bagels were in a glass case where you order. There were two people in charge; the man at the grill, woman at the everything else. May be a family? Anyway, the woman was not very customer friendly but did say hello. They were out of many of the choices of bagels but did have over two full bins of plain. I asked for a dozen and took the leftover marble, one egg, couple of wheat, and a bunch of plain. I needed one more. I didn't want the onion, sesame, or everything bagels left, so I asked for another plain. Then I got "yelled" at by being told that you cannot have more than a 1/2 dozen of one type of bagel unless you pre-order them the day before! I've never heard of this. So what if I want a dozen plain? Too bad unless I called it in yesterday. After questioning and I guess just taking too long, the lady finally just gave me the seventh plain bagel. Even the customer behind me gave me the "can you believe this" look feeling bad for me getting the business from the staff. Just over $12 for the dozen bagels, and I was on my way out. When I got home, I made myself an egg, chicken, bacon, and cheese bagel. The bagel itself was nice and fluffy with a good bagel consistency. They weren't bad at all. I'm not sure I'd come back. Two stars for service and cleanliness of the place, three stars for the taste of the bagels. I didn't get any of the sandwiches on the menu, but everything seemed reasonably priced. We went in for their tuna as we moved and LOVE their tuna! we ordered 2 pounds and you would have thought we asked to buy every one of their bagels! The owner's son waited on us and was absolutely rude, nasty, and far from treating us like a respected customer. The father, who was cooking off to the side, yelled, just give it to him. The son was upset because he was giving us 2 pounds and thought it would not leave him enough for the rest of the day, although there was one large container left after we took our 2 pounds. Customer service means a lot. If they continue to treat customers the way they did us they will not have a business to worry about. read more

First time walking into this place. Sadly I didn't even get a bagel to tell you if they're good or not. First let me say yes it is Christmas Eve and they were busy preparing orders. Totally get it if you're out of most items but this wasn't the case. My experience....... I walked in excited because the open and 'Hot 'Bagel' sign was on. My excitement grew as I saw customers sitting and eating their bagels. I was then asked if I had ordered (pre-ordered). I said no and was met with 'well all these bagels are for orders.' My response: can I order? Man: no we're closed Me: but your open sign is on.... and you have people eating...? Man: ya but these bagels are for orders. Me walking out: your open sign is on man Man: no it's off Woman: you can come back in 20. Me: your signs indicate you are open Women: well did you order? Yes, a good bagel place in Bensalem! I was heart broken to leave North Jersey, where my everything bagel got me through many broken hearts and sleepless nights. Then I moved to Trenton, and after a few attempts found a replacement...so naturally when I moved again, I was not looking forward to starting the search from scratch. But thankfully this was a hit from first bite! This bagel place is very unassumingly located in a small plaza, and when you walk inside it is even less appealing than the strip mall. It's two middle aged, middle eastern guys cooking up some delcious carbs. Unlinke some other bagel places, there aren't many fancy options, but all the ones you expect. I choose my usual: everything bagel, egg, cheese and pork roll. It was made quickly and I couldn't wait to get a bite. I would've enjoyed a bit more pork roll, but it wasn't cheap at all. Although this is a no frills place, there were a few things missing for me. Like there is no menu posted, so I have no idea what other types of sandwiches they make. They also didn't have orange juice, which seems pretty basic for a place that sells breakfast. I personally would've loved an ice coffee option, but I know that's being a bit pretentious...but I'm still speaking it to the world just in case. Stopped in recent to get sausage, egg and cheese on everything Bagel with a cup of coffee. That's about all they sell when it comes to breakfast sandwiches unless u want a Hoagie. The Breakfast sandwich was good. Was impressed. I do wish they Atleast sold hashbrowns to go with sandwich. Coffee was OK. If i was ever in the area again. I used to love this place because the bagels were great and it is family-owned. I previously gave it 5 stars... but then I experienced how the staff treats repeat customers. I've been coming here off and on for 5+ years now, and there's a clear pattern of behavior. The one star is because their everything bagels are still on point (when in stock). Four stars docked because of poor Covid-19 practices, horrible treatment of customers, and unsanitary practices in their eatery, both in terms of the place's cleanliness and their unsanitary handling of food. *If you're dealing with the old man, expect a snarky and/or underhanded comment.* If you want egg bagels, order it well in advance. The bagels here remind me of NY style bagels, they're very large and tasty! This store is located about 5 mins from the Parx casino in a shopping strip. I wanted to grab some quick lunch here and order either a tuna salad or chicken salad but when I looked through the glass, none of them 'looked' appetizing. I've tried the tuna from long ago and don't remember it, and wanted the chicken salad this time around. Since it didn't look so great, I ordered the Nova Lox instead, on a poopy seed bagel. It was pretty good, no capers though, which was disappointing. My friend's sandwich looked really good - he just ordered an everything bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese. A & S Bagel sits in a nondescript commercial strip at the bottom of Galloway Road. It is clean and bright, even if uninspired in its décor, with yellow walls and lights, and white booths along one side. The workers/owners are friendly enough and know how to slice and spread efficiently. They don't have the broadest selection of bagels, but they are made in the back of the shop and are certainly fresh. My Onion Bagel, Butter and Swiss was ordered and delivered to my table within 5 minutes. This being a Boar's Head operation, the option on the cheese was eliminated in favor of only their own brand; always a disappointment as the taste and texture of the Swiss is not as good as Finlandia, Jarlesburg, or other Euro-based names. The only major issue with the bagel was that it lacked a crusty skin, and had a weak yeast taste. It was more like sourdough loaf in the shape of a bagel, and not the authentic crunchy outside and airy inside that notes a proper bagel. Still, it was quite big, and obviously satisfying to many. I suggest a visit to Bagel Train in Yardley if they aspire to a closer approximation of the real McCoy. read more

This is the best bagel shop I've ever visited or purchased from! Always hot fresh bagels, cooked to order sandwiches and very, very pleasant couple, who work very hard to give us the best bagels! I use to work in a Bagel shop (won't mention the name) as a general Manager, the bagels we made were pretty good but A & S Bagels are by far the best! If you haven't tried them, Honey you are missing out on the Best! We love A & S Bagels they have been around for along time and it shows why in their product, wouldn't buy bagels anywhere else. When you are serving meals to your Family or your Dinner quests do you wear gloves? I love this place so much every since I was a child and they where near the acme in bensalem I've been going here. So over 20 years. The service is great and quick. They even allow you to call in your orders so all you have to pick what ever you want up. My favorite is definitely a toasted everything bagel with veggie creamcheese. I've had a million bagels from this place. They aren't the best but, they are close, convenient, and good enough. Does the angry guy know that the gloves aren't to keep his hands clean, but that they are to keep the food clean and the customers healthy? I think it's more disgusting when he uses the gloves then when he doesn't. He puts them on and he keeps them on. He will handle the food and then check you out and handle your money while never changing them. They are visibly dirty when he goes back and starts handling food again. A&S has been my go-to shop for bagels for a few years now. All of their bagels are always fresh and their cream cheese selection is great. When we buy in bulk and serve to friends and family, everyone loves them and asks where we get them from. No real complaints here but I would love to see a wider variety of bagels and updates to the shop itself. I have also noticed a slight variation in quality during visits, but I have never been unhappy with it. read more

The bagels here are really great. They're soft inside and crispy outside. The jalapeno cream cheese was spicy enough so you could tell there were real jalapenos in it.
