Dr. Khli was my civil surgeon and I got all my vaccinations/immunizations done from her for my permanent residency in 2008. Now I am gonig back to school and the school requires the health care provider to sign a document stating I have got all my immunizations. I called Dr. Kohli's office several times and asked the doctor to sign and fax the document to me but they don't seem to respond. The deadline to submit the document to the school has passed and I am still waiting for my civil surgeon to sign the document. I finally got a dozen of fax from the doctor but with incomplete form. Since Glenda left, things have gone even further down hill regarding wait time. We arrived 15 min. early for our last visit and waited 1hr.40min. before the doctor arrived. They 'told us' to make the appointment. We did. We show up and the first words out of the doctors mouth is..."so, why are you here today?" I find it very frustrating. Dr. Kohli was the doctor we saw initially. She handed us off to Glenda. Glenda was great! Then we were handed over to Dr. Kumar. I am so incredibly angered and frustrated right now. I have been going to this office for about three years now (since moving to Austin) and originally was seeing Dr. Love Paul, until about a year ago when he split for his own practice. Not sure on the terms, but I got a negative vibe and think it may not have been on the best terms, they couldn't (or wouldn't) even provide his new address, which I just found out is in the same building. Dr. Love was an excellent Dr, I genuinely felt he cared about me and he specializes in Women's Reproductive health, so I was very confident in his knowledge. Dr. Kohli, on the other hand, is generally fairly cold (with a pretense of interest in me) and struggles to remember details about me. Dr. Love would even ask how my complicated relationship was going, remembering specifics. I generally wait about an hour to see Dr. Kohli each visit, which I do not feel is worth my time. (this includes my brief 5-10 minute monthly meet up with her for to get a controlled prescription refilled) Her reception staff always seems like they are either overwhelmed (too busy to talk to me for an average of 5 mins or more each visit) or like they don't know how to prioritize their time well. It's also taken over half a day before to get a callback from them regarding an urgent medical need for a message I left before they opened in the morning. I ended up getting it addressed by the Austin Regional Clinic on Far West during their after hours clinic time. (where I waited less than ten minutes after my appt time) Guess they don't check their messages often, that or they didn't find my very painful condition urgent. But back to my fresh anger. At my last routine prescription refill appointment, again after waiting over an HOUR in one of the rooms, I was blindsided by abnormal test results from my yearly evaluation which was earlier in the month. I was shocked and upset, and she referred me to a gyno a floor below that they have a good relationship with reassuring me that they could see me soon and that they were briefed on my situation. I immediately went downstairs to set up an appointment for further testing and filled out all the paperwork in advance to make things easier later. The day before my appointment I get a call from their office saying they don't accept my insurance. My doctor thought I had a PPO (which I had previously corrected her on) but I actually have an HMO. So, hours spent dealing with this stressful situation and fear about what they'll find, plus a week and a half of waiting for the procedure and being relieved it was almost time, lost. Now I have been told I need to locate a Dr. that they can then refer me to. (isn't the point of a referral someone telling you "hey, I vouch for their work"?) Also worth mentioning, she said she was going to email me the results of my last two yearly evaluations to give to the gyno and never did. I also found Dr. Kohli condescending when discussing birth control options, and not very well educated on the subject. She was not willing to discuss or reasearch alternatives to hormonal methods when I expressed my dislike and laughed at me when I told her I wanted something permanent. I DON'T WANT KIDS, I'VE KNOWN FOR OVER TEN YEARS. If I change my mind, I will adopt. She told me that was more difficult than having a child, well thanks for the expert opinion Dr., that's only the case if you want a newborn white baby. I personally don't appreciate being treated like a naive child due to my confident (and imho responsible) decision about my body, or for my humanitarian leanings. Long story short, I am planning to find a new doctor, or start visiting Dr. Love in his new office if he still accepts my insurance and can see me. I am sick of waiting on a Dr. who is disrespectful, struggles to remember me each month, and wastes my time consistently. read more

I went to Dr.Kohli based on two reviews. The ones here and on another website. My inital vist went well. She did run a little behind on time, but I knew that was expected. However from there things went down hill. The second visit, I waited over an hour to see her. Again expected, things went all right. The third visit was an emergency one, I was experienceing extreme pain my shoulder, so bad I could barely breathe. I got in to see her waited for about 45 mintues, again expected I was a emergency appointment. Once I saw her however, she sent me over to a orthopedic person, who I stood out side of his office and the door was locked, I called Dr.Kohli's office and explained, the called the physisican again, he said he would be down in five mintues, he never showed. This goes on for an HOUR I have been back and forth between Dr.Kohli's office and this gentleman she referred me to. Meanwhile I am starting to sweat I am in so much pain, I am shaking and pale. My roomate who had driven me to the appointment, ended up taking me to the ER. There was agiven a shot to relax my muscles and a mega ibuprophen. Something I feel could have been done in the Dr.'s office. Then two weeks later I received a letter from my insurance company that Dr.Kohli has dropped out of Tricare, no notice to her paitents, she just dropped the military insurance. All in all I feel the only shining thing about her office was Alexis the FANTASTIC nurse who was caring, considerate, and very paitent. The rest of her staff acted as if they would rather not be at work. I would NEVER recommend this doctor to ANYONE I Know. read more

I'm still going to Dr. Kohli, which is my longest relationship with a doctor. We're really in love--I think this might be the one. I added a star because she has hired a Nurse Practitioner name Glenda who gets you in right on time. She has the same caring personality and remembers details about your personal life that make you feel like you are really talking to a friend, who just happens to be able to prescribe meds. I think I might have an affair with Glenda. But that's okay, Dr. Kohli says she's cool with it. read more

Excellent physician but VERY SLOW. I brought my mother here two times so far... New patient and routine follow up. Both times we arrived early and both times we were here more than an hour and a half from the scheduled appointment time. You cannot plan your day around the lack of planning and time management present in this office. Maybe more time needs to be put into teaching efficiency than to dragging out the appointments... The only reason this is not 1-star is that I like Dr Kohli but hate her office's lack of time management. read more

I am new to the Austin area and Dr. Nandin Kohli was recommended to me. It appears that the first appointment is for test and blood work, which I went in and completed. Then I had the visit with the doctor a week later. They could not find some of the test results, so I had to repeat some of them. Dr. Kohli was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I was very pleased with my visit. The staff was very helpful and cordial both times I visited. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! She is the most unprofessional doctor I have ever seen or dealt with. I had her as my PCP till last year and she spent 5 minutes doing the check up and 20 minutes chit-chatting about other things. Rather than Typing at her time, she would start typing with the patient and waster additional 15 mins doing so. I also had a terrible experience with her Beauty and wellness clinic. I went to her to get laser treatments done and spent close to $2000. After almost 7 months and that much money later, I did not see any results..nada. I understand that it is not a guarnatee hair removal method but atleast some hair reduction should have been expected. When I went back to her to ask her about it and see if she was willing to compensate me for it but giving me other treatments. She completey refused to help in any way and blamed it on my hormones. Seriously, are you kidding me?? Anyway, DO NOT GO TO HER. Check other reviews on other websites that say the same thing about her on other checkups like immigrations health checks etc. She is a very unprofessional and in my opinion completely uninformative doctor. read more

I have been to this office a few times already and the Dr is great but the office staff is incompetent. They are rude and offer no help. When things need to be faxed or requires phone calls/ work on their end they leave it up to me to do it. The office manager was polite when I complained but because I complained about the staff they seem to be even less helpful and more rude. I'm considering finding a new Doctor only because of the staff. I've been given blank referrals as well with no guidance on where to go to get what I need. I often leave this office more confused then when I walked in. I have been 4 times and still to this day only obtained blood work, and a flu shot. Regarding Peripheral Neuropathy: I was referred to Dr. Babak Kaviani an associate of Dr. Kohli for treatment of my severe, very long standing peripheral neuropathy. This treatment is covered by Medicare and most insurance. Dr. Kaviani and Dr. Kohli are great physicians and really care and are knowlegable in their fields. Regarding my peripheral neuropathy, after the second treatment I noticed improvement. Treatment for peripheral neuropathy includes treatment every day for four weeks (right and left). Try it, I hope it works as well for you as it has for me. I feel almost like a new person and I have five more days of treatment to go. You can't go wrong with this treatment. read more

In June this year i was down with a strep throat and felt miserable. This was the first time in three years that I was looking for a doctor in Austin, TX. I managed to get an appointment at Dr Nandini Kohli's office at a short notice which was good. However, everything after reserving my spot was miserable! Here it goes... Was feeling weak since i could not eat or drink for a couple of days. Somehow managed to reach the doctor's office 15 mins before the appointment. There was no patient in the reception lobby. I walked to the reception counter and after waiting for about 2 mins (which felt like a long time) the receptionist cared to look - away from the computer screen - at me. I told her about my appointment and she gave me a bulk load of documentation to fill. I sat in the lobby and started with the paper work. While doing so i had a look around the office to see flyers for promotion of different procedures and discounts stuck on the walls. It felt like a cheap massage parlor! I was hurt to see a noble profession converted into a money making business. I know it is a business, but be subtle about it! Anyways, once i submitted the document, i was asked to wait until called. I took my seat and waited. It took about 20 mins for a nurse to call my name. It was 35 mins since i entered the office by then. I was taken into an examination room where the assistant did the routine BP and other check. She also took a strep sample from my mouth which was a bad experience. While she left, i was told that the doctor would see me soon. It took 25 mins (1:05 mins after i walked in) for me to loose my patience to call for an assistant to check on the doctor. After about 8 to 10 mins (1:15 mins after i walked in) of additional waiting, there she walks in! I was surprised to she her! I had expected an Indian, but the female who walked in looked more white than indian! And then, the best part! She introduces herself as a nurse practitioner who would attend me as the doctor is busy. I was so furious at that time and hated myself for picking this place. She fooled around for 10 mins and gave me a prescription of a drug. No offence, but when i want to see a doctor, i want a doctor! If you can't attend, please do not accept appointments! I did not even get a glimpse of the doctor. She is like a phantom to me! I did not bother to complain and was ready to leave. When i was at the door, it struck me that they had not charged me the deductible. I went to the receptionist, who was like, "what do you want now ?" attitude. I told her about the deductible. Rather being nice she was thankless and just charged me for it. Whatever! So i took the medication for 10 days. I was warned by the nurse that i may have a few loose stools but she never told me that those loose stools will continue for a month! I am not inflating my time line. It took me 30 days to come back to my regular motion. I had decided to write a review as soon as i left the office but did not want to give a knee-jerk reaction. I am so grateful to Dr. Kohli for everything she has done for my mother, my two teenagers and myself. She is more than my family physician, she is a truly caring soul that treats you just like family. She is an amazing physician who has the most understanding communication skills as well as the knowledge to diagnose and heal without a massive amount of test and/or repeat visits. No stars. I am disappointed the nurse practitioner could not call me after I waited 5 days to tell me I was leaving messages for the wrong Dr. Kohli. When I complained to the receptionist she was very rude talking over me when I was trying to explain I had left several messages over the span of 5 days. She treated me like a child telling me I had just called and needed to be patient with the nurse. Looking at the other reviews I am relieved I had the wrong doctor. Inattentive and rude experience. I have been with Dr. Kohli for a three plus years but I have no idea how competent she is because I have only seen her one time. I went to see her originally due to lack of insurance plan options. Whenever I call her office I know I need to have at least 30 minutes free if I want to talk with someone. For some reason the phone is almost never answered. Sometimes there is a answering machine that picks up but the message is VERY long and i have never received a return call no matter how urgent the matter is. If I'm lucky enough to reach a live person I am usually placed on hold and eventually hung up on. If I call back and complain they never accept responsibility but instead assure me I hung up and not them. Thankfully this isn't as big of a problem as it used to be due to there patient portal, yet it's not effective if I need an immediate appointment. My next problem is I've been passed around to different providers in the office and with every new person I have to start telling my history all over again. I eventually started seeing a provider in her office I was happy with but they left her practice a few months ago. I also think she has the longest waiting room time. Orders a lot of tests. Has a lot of side businesses going on- skin care, laser, weight loss... Seems to go through business partners frequently- Dr Toupin and Dr Love Paul were both really nice but have left. Medical assistant nice but smelled of cigarettes- kinda nasty at a doctor's office. My husband also used to see her but transferred to another doctor because the wait times we too long (over an hour) at several visits. read more

My experience was not good. She was very good in my first visit but was chit chatting with me for nearly 25 mins. But she was very rude in the follow up visits. I was waiting for nearly 1hr and 45 mins before she attended me. I am not going to her again. When my husband asked the nurse why was it taking 2 hrs, Dr. Kohli told me (in her exact words) "Tell your husband that I did not kill you" !! read more

Dr. Kohli has been my Mom's primary care physician in Austin. My Mom has Asthma. She recently went to see Dr. Kohli because she was having breathing issues and had flu like symptoms. Dr. Kohli told her it was nothing to worry about and she could just take Tylenol. My Mom couldn't sleep that night due to increased breathing problems and she ended up in the ER the following day. She was admitted into the hospital and they kept her for 1 week. This demonstrates negligence and misdiagnosis on Dr; Kohli's part. She had in-depth knowledge about my Mom's medical issues and history of asthmatic attacks. She showed gross negligence and did not give the right advice when she saw her. She completely failed in her responsibility as a primary care physician. My Mom will not be going back to her. The purpose of me writing this review is that patients who see her must be vigilant and make an informed decision. read more

Review long due. Went to Dr. Kohli for Green Card Medical Checkup a while back. Never go to this doctor for Green Card medical. She wont bother checking your vaccination record. She will just administer you vaccines whether or not you need them, without giving you an option to get the same vaccines for cheaper from some other clinic. Since insurance doesnt cover Green Card medical, they just want to make as much money as they can from the patient by giving unnecessary vaccines. I denied taking vaccines as I wasnt comfortable taking them alone (without my husband), but she and her nurse practically forced me, grabbed my arm and gave the vaccines. Also, she barely checks anything (physical checkup) that is required for Green Card medical. She just asked a couple questions for formality sake and just gave vaccines (even though not required as I already had taken the vaccines and had my record). Very bad practice, they just want to rip u off. Save yourself and never go this pathetic doctor whose only aim os to extract money from you. read more

Unfortunately, this organization needs to improve their office process and their patient relations. My story does not seem unfamiliar to others that are already posted. I have on multiple occasions needed referrals. Their office seems to struggle with the process. I should not need to inform them, that they will need to scroll down on the computer and hit "submit" in order to send my referral to my insurance company. I understand the struggles with new staff and training processes. However this has been an ongoing issue. I believe in supporting women in all professions. I am hoping that my review may generate constructive changes within their organization. Dr. Kohli is very knowledgeable, however every patient is different and there is vast medical information for any doctor to know all. I would hope in the future, that Dr. Kohli and Lindsie Cox are able to listen to their patients with an open mind and the information they have researched regarding their own body and its problems. I think it would benefit both patient and doctor to look outside the box, not limiting themselves to strict textbook information. Everyone is different and medical information is constantly being rewritten daily. I hope for the success and improvement of APC. read more
