Like dimsum and general tso chicken... they didn't give us soup spoon for dimsum but kinda late to ask for it and some dimsum was already tore in the bottom so soup was leaking through...which defeat the purpose of soup dumpling. Robot serving machine was serving food but the waiting staff put it on table for us. So i don't really know the purpose for the robot but it was fun. Overall, solid quality at a good price point. You can still get it comparably in Philly Chinatown, but given the scale, price, availability of parking, and the speed and quality of service, I'd pick this place over any place over there. Only knock is the convenience of getting here from where I live, but the fact that I can just pull up and park and don't have to circle endlessly for a space? Sign me up! If you're looking for a standout experience in dimsum, there are definitely other places and you should definitely lower your bar if you're from NYC. However, for a good meal to start off your morning, this is a solid choice-- consider it done.

(Note: if you only want smaller serving of their great, thick noodles, order $4 add-on as a side in place of rice with regular dish.) I always have leftovers to enjoy at home. Dumpling orders are large and shareable. (Always 6 or 8 pieces.) My fave when dining in is amazingly delicious and huge Fish Fillet in Hot and Sour Cabbage Broth. (That's best with rice side to help absorb broth.) So good and healthful to balance the dough density of whatever dumplings you might also order -- they're all great. When getting order to go (or delivered) I like Kung Pao Chicken; it travels well. Order added green veggie dish for sharing -- I lean toward Chinese Broccoli; you'll really want the balance with the delicious dumpling and noodle dishes. Large cocktail menu -- Lychee Martini is so refreshing. Important: cash only for dining in. There's an ATM by their front door. Takeout and delivery accepts credit cards. Most reasonably priced parking nearby (if you don't score a limited street spot) is ParkAmerica at 1040 Race St a few doors down. In fact, it was one of the valet guys in that garage who recommended Dim Sum Garden when I was seeking great Chinese option. (Thank you, Ceasar!)

I just get a feeling that the focus is on pushing alcoholic drinks rather than on the food. The pork buns felt like they were previously frozen and were very sweet. Shrimp dumplings tasted off. Their food now is no better than the next guy and that's disappointing. Cash only btw. I write this because they do not post signs and a couple tables had to go grab cash from their ATM machine.

solid dim sum restaurant in philly!…read more i always have a soft spot in my heart for places with the traditional dim sum carts, and i felt that this spot was overall better than ocean city/harbor in chinatown. the cart ladies kind of swarm you the second you are seated, but they don't really come back to offer you a second look. we ordered a spread, and i got my staples of chicken feet and shrimp rice rolls. i also liked their char siu buns and the stir fried green beans! the turnip cake was kind of flavorless and i probably wouldn't get that again. i just love the experience of the dim sum carts, it's so fun to be able to look directly at your options. it was fairly busy on sunday afternoon, but we were seated with no issue. the space is quite large, and it looks like they also host special events and weddings. can't wait to come back!

Canton Palace offers authentic dim sum like the kind you'd find in Flushing, but right here in…read moredowntown Somerville, NJ! I went on a weekday for lunch. Both the dim sum menu and a lunch menu with standard Chinese restaurant fare were available. My party got the general tso's chicken from the lunch menu, and it was exceptional. Good-quality white meat with just enough spice. Heads up, though, the lunch dishes don't come with rice, so order that separately. From the dim sum menu, we ordered braised tripe with ginger & scallion, fried shrimp rolls, shrimp dumplings, steamed chicken buns, and crab meat soup dumplings. The braised tripe was a standout. It was cooked in a light yet flavorful sauce of ginger and scallion with the tripe's own broth. The delicateness of the sauce worked perfectly with the tripe. The dumplings were all great, especially the soup dumplings. The steamed chicken bun was the only thing I'd skip. It was on the heavier side, and the filling was just okay. The bill came out to about what I expected for the amount of food we ordered--$65 before tip. The service was friendly, and taking our order and getting the food was quick. After the food arrived, though, it was a little difficult to flag down a server to order more and later to get the check. Still, it was understandable given how busy they were, constantly collecting orders and putting out food. Overall, Canton Palace is a great find for anyone looking for this style of Chinese food outside of the usual New York neighborhoods.

As someone who cooks I was extremely disappointed. I should have sent back but they didn't seem to have any interest in our experience & there was a language barrier. Gets a star because hot and sour soup was fine and was heated appropriately and the sesame chicken with broccoli was good. Also can't give zero stars here...... wish I could. They charge $4 for rice and then grudgingly package it with leftovers. Entire restaurant had open tables but they stuck us against the servers alley that leads to kitchen. We had the staff behind us at a large table chattering away loudly while we tried to eat and talk. It was a mess. My husband paid the server in cash. They attempted to keep our change. I had to repeat myself multiple times asking for our change to come back. It almost seemed deliberate. So unprofessional. And yet my kind husband tipped the waitstaff generously; he's far kinder than I would have been. Not a class act restaurant. Will NEVER go back. REGRET that we chose this restaurant on our day out. =(
