I am now on a mission to try new places and I am so glad that I stumbled upon Jasmine Asian Bistro. Upon arrival the staff greeted us and then led us to our table after a short wait. Family friendly restaurant. The table is dressed with linens and tea. The tea was delightful. You then receive fried wonton strips and a cabbage like salad. Tasty. I then ordered the fried chicken wings and the general tso chicken combination (wonton soup, pork fried rice, egg roll). First time trying the soup, it was a little salty for me. But every thing else was delicious. I haven't had an egg roll in a while and it was soooo good. The entire experience was good. Service and food - stellar. After another trip, I came through the Glenside Train Station from the airport around dinnertime and remembered this Asian Bistro was nearby, so I decided to call in an order. The first thing that disappointed me was the no substitution policy. If your meal comes with white rice, you can't substitute fried rice or lo mein. Instead, you have to purchase a separate order, which makes the meal more expensive. I always appreciate restaurants that offer simple substitutions, so this was a downside for me. I ordered the duck, and my son ordered the General Tso's chicken. The food was cooked properly, but overall it lacked flavor. The General Tso's chicken came with very little broccoli, and while the sauce was okay, it wasn't as flavorful as I expected. The biggest disappointment was the duck. I've had duck many times before, but this one had a very strong gamey taste that made it difficult to enjoy. The seasoning just wasn't enough to balance the flavor. We also ordered their appetizer sampler, which included a egg roll, crab Rangoon, a beef stick, and a rib. I liked the idea of being able to sample a few different items. The meat was nice and tender, but even those items could have used more seasoning and flavor. On a positive note, the restaurant itself was clean and had a nice atmosphere. I believe they accept reservations, there's a convenient parking lot on the side of the building, and I also believe it's BYOB, which is a nice bonus. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures because I had just gotten back from traveling, was exhausted, and just wanted to pickup food and head home. Overall, we were disappointed. Between the no substitution policy and the lack of flavor in several of the dishes, it's probably not a restaurant we'll be returning to. As regulars here, we were very disappointed with our experience last night. My meal was served on a silver plate that was covered in dust. After bringing this to the staff's attention, they merely transferred the same food onto a different plate instead of remaking it. Because the food was only warm to begin with, this process resulted in a cold meal. Despite the hygiene oversight and the dip in food quality, we were still charged full price. We love this spot, but the lack of service recovery in this instance was frustrating. read more

Yummy food, good service and classic Chinese feel inside made for a great Christmas Eve meal! Visiting from out of town, and made reservations for our Christmas Eve dinner here. Arrived 15 minutes early and was seated promptly. Our host and waiter along with others in the restaurant all were kind and helpful throughout the evening. Complimentary fried Chinese chips and duck sauce along with hot tea were placed on the table. It was delicious and nice to munch on while we waited for our main courses. Food: General Tao's chicken dinner combo plate was plenty of food and even had leftovers! Husband said it was one of the best general's he had. Combo plate cones with soup choice, egg roll, entree and pork fried rice. Great value. Moo Shu pork was one of the best I have had in a long time. Plenty of pancakes and yummy plum sauce accompanied the meal. Even though it was a busy night, food came out piping hot and fresh. Variety of tables with some larger seating areas for bigger groups and a mixture of booths and tables. Would visit again for delicious food! read more

Lunch with my vegan bestie today. She recommended Jasmine Asian Bistro for the extensive vegan options available, and I'm so glad she did. It was such a nice place to sit and catch up over a delicious meal in a charming restaurant with unique carved wood decor and attractive table settings. Our waiter was friendly and service was great. He may have been the owner - not 100% sure. Hot oolong in a fine stone teapot and Chinese fried noodles with duck sauce were automatically brought out to start us off. Water glasses were kept fresh and full of ice water. We were checked on periodically but not rushed. It was perfect. We loved our vegetable dumplings and pineapple fried rice but the ginger mock ham was is my favorite thing today. Temps outdoors were in the upper 90s, so I much appreciate that our server was happy to fill my water bottle with ice water as we were leaving. The food is good you get a lot of food for the price. The staff is very friendly. They have a wide selection of food and know the have a vegetarian menu. I was a little mad because they was giving out calendar to the customer that order take out. But I wanted to know why the people that was seating in didn't get a calendar. All the customers should've receive one. The restaurant is nice but need a little upgrade. The waterfall used to work but it wasn't when we got their. In the mood for Asian food on a rainy & cloudy day. Stopped by Jasmin Asian Bistro. We were 1 of 2 parties in the restaurant. The other large party was eating lunch in one of the large rooms. We were in the main dining room. We were greeted right away and seated. They serve fried wontons and duck sauce with Jasmin tea. The service was great. We ordered the shrimp and rice soup for 2. It was ok. It has a tomato base. The shrimp rolls were fried to perfection but more cabbage than shrimp. I was full so no entree. My fiancé ordered chicken and shrimp with noodles. He said it was good. I didn't taste it as I'm pescatarian. I would most definitely come back. The lunch specials are affordable and great portions. read more

The dishes are bland but this place is always extremely busy. There is never enough staff and everyone's always either extremely annoyed or super patient. The vegan dishes and non-vegan fare are equally mediocre. Maybe because it's the only spot like this in town, but I honestly cannot understand how it's still in business. I first want to say that the ambiance was nice; soft lighting and music to soothe your soul. We didn't stay, we ordered to go...The ladies at the front desk were polite. There were orders coming left and right and orders waiting to be picked up, so I was hopeful. When we got home to enjoy, we were disappointed. The fried rice had no flavor and the shrimp were soft and had a weird taste...the same with the mei fun; the shrimp were soft and the noodles had a taste as if it was old with a weird smell. I have gone here many times when I went to school in glenside, but not recently. So being chinese new year we made a reservation here, rather than traveling into chinatown in Philly. The restaurant was quite busy, with many tables full. The service was good. I had to ask for a vegetarian menu. Unfortunately, there was no decorations or special dishes for new year. It was normal menu, which was good. We had hot and sour soups, one with meat and the other veggie. Good. The steamed veggie dumplings were excellent. I ordered a jungle curry veggie meat and chicken dish which I really liked. And my left overs made a great lunch the following day. My husband ordered a fish dish but somehow it got confused and they gave him a combo meat and shrimp dish which was good flavor and sauce, but not much seafood. He was reluctant to return the dish back to the kitchen so he enjoyed it anyway. He is flexible but really wanted seafood. Oh well, a mis- communication. Will try that dish another time when we come again. read more

We had: - lemongrass chicken soup - hot and sour soup - pork lo mein - twice cooked pork - Szechuan chicken - Sautéed green beans The hot and sour soup and pork lo mein were fairly solid, and everything else was perfectly edible, but all of the dishes were lacking in flavor. Nothing that was marked as spicy was even remotely tongue tingling. It was very boring, very basic, minimally adequate American Chinese food. My favorite go to neighborhood Chinese food. It is expensive, but in my opinion worth it. Biggest downside of this place is that they do not deliver. Although the dining room is nice, and we often like to eat in on a date night or when friends come into town before a show. read more

Years. We've given them years of opportunities to not repeatedly serve take-out food this way. At least 6-7 years. The IN-dining must be what they care about. Cause the take-out is a different story. We ALL have a day over time where we are so busy we just don't have time to cook. When we have had those days, we have made attempts to support local businesses. Jasmine Asian Bistro is one of those businesses we were trying to support. We decided not to anymore for the following reasons. It regularly appears that when they receive and trim the fat off of their chicken, their pork and beef, that they throw that trimmed fat (in large quantities) into their "take-out" dishes. If you order take-out from this place, any chicken/beef/pork noodle dish is given all the fat strips that have been trimmed from the in house dishes. It's the same with any vegetable take-out dish containing those proteins. It's also the same with any take-out rice dish (fried rice). I understand that food businesses want to recoup their expenses for their protein supplies. That understanding does not give them license to take the fat they buy per pound from their suppliers and cut it off and serve it up by the mouthful in their take-out. Especially for what they are charging. Two non exquisite main protein dishes with 3 egg rolls and 3 spring rolls and a third small side cost $60. I can't even begin to describe how having to REPEATEDLY spit out strips of literal tough and non chewable (but well seasoned) fat was disgusting enough that I had to write this review. Their wonton soup appears to be pre frozen mass manufactured wonton noodles, which bc they are poor quality and are never cooked properly are glue like pasty textured, covered in some kind of off putting flour based residue, when lifted from the broth they literally fall apart under their own weight plummeting into pieces of noodle off the spoon or off the fork. Which unveils a packed ball of transparent FAT speckled with what I must assume is some kind of meat. IF you chew them the fat separates into its pre designated shapes, presumably the shapes they were before they were packed into a ball. Like puzzle pieces. All the wonton soup wontons have been this way. It was a bunch of gagging moments. I would not recommend. What did it for me was the egg roll that had apparently been given to me (as of the writing of this review) after its expiration date that when I bit into it, it had gone rancid. It was most definitely a flavor never before experienced, as my tongue began to present me with a ringing feeling. Like my tongue became a numb bell that was no longer mine, but emanated a ringing sensation. The smell was other worldly. It was not of our universe. Was completely alien. This place if it once had standards it was long before my time. I maybe ordered from them 1 to MAYBE 2 times a year (one year I ordered take out 3 times out of desperation and hope) for almost 7 years (always take-out). If I had to sum up what they do here, they cook and overcharge for very well seasoned and highly flavorful garbage. Literally. Broccoli has ALWAYS been heated raw. Cabbage in their dishes ALWAYS have rust. They had years of chances where we thought "well MAYBE they turned it around" or "MAYBE this time it'll be different". Nope. They're just a bad take-out restaurant out loud. If they do ever turn it around, I still wouldn't give them anything. It's been years. read more

I pass by Jasmine's Asian Bistro all the time and it was on my list of places to try. It's on a busy street on Easton road in Glenside. They have a small parking lot that is shared with surrounding stores. There is also meter parking all around. Me and my girls decided to try it out one evening, so parking was easy. We were seated and waited on right away. They brought out hot tea, fried noodles (very greasy) and sauteed cabbage to nibble on. I decided on the seafood delight with scallops and shrimp with brown rice. My one daughter got the General Tso Chicken with brown rice. My other daughter got the faux General Tso Chicken. She asked what it was made of since she is vegan, but they never said. Just said "Not real meat"! They have a whole menu for people that don't eat meat, but need to explain what they use as the substitute. We also got a order of Faux Chicken Lo Mein and eggrolls. Everything was pretty good, but somethings were a little greasy. There is a fine line between good service and making me feel rushed. The service was fine but the server was right there with clearing the dishes, filling my water glass, with the bill. I don't want to blame them for doing a good job, just felt a little rushed.
