Usually, we go to the Sang Kee Asian restaurant in Wynnewood PA. However, on this trip, we were planning to head over to Elkins Park so we picked this location and this was our first trip here. We already knew that the menu was going to be different from our experience at the other location however we learned again not to judge a book by its cover. In this case, it's nothing like what we experienced over the years again at the other location. The area was a little dicey and the restaurant looks honestly it looks tired inside. However, I will say that we were very surprised with quality of our food. We make a couple changes on some dishes, but in the end, we were very, very surprised. We started off with the steam juicy buns in our case soup dumplings , next we had to shui mai and the dish that we did make adjustments to was the tofu mushroom bok choy instead of tofu we asked them to put in beef, leaving everything else the way it is intended and a wound up being an outstanding dish. Hence we recommended the owners to consider adding a beef mushroom bok choy dish to the menu. read more

This small, but very accommodating Asian restaurant is located in a strip mall at the end of Old York Rd. & Cheltenham Ave. We were a party of 12, & the service was gracious & helpful. The menu is large & I decided to not order my usual choices, which was a smart move, since I was delighted by my choices. My family loves dining in here. This is good place to get authentic Asian food. There's plenty of seating and each visit has had excellent service. I've eaten many dishes here at this point; our favorites are the Peking duck, wonton soups, Szucheun Pepper Chicken, and my absolute favorite is the baked seafood fried rice. The portions here are all pretty big across the board so be prepared for some leftovers. Their best dish once again is the Baked Seafood Fried Rice. It's a layered dish with fried rice in the middle, seafood mixed into the rice, covered with curry, and finally topped with cheese which is baked onto it. It's such a delicious meal. The food was just okay. I ordered shrimp and broccoli and chicken spring rolls. I don't know what was inside the chicken spring rolls. It just didn't look like chicken so I stopped eating it after one bite and missed taking a photo of it. The shrimp and broccoli with white rice despite me asking for brown rice was just okay. The sauce taste different than what I have tried from other restaurants and it wasn't good enough for me to try again. I used to be a steady customer. I have watched the prices rise 50% during the pandemic and in some cases 100%, and are still rising. I can no longer justify eating here due to the high prices. I guess I feel the same way because in recent visits, the place was completely empty. I'd be willing to pay a little more because the food is very good, put the pricing has just got out of hand. For example the last thing I got was my favorite; shrimp dumpling noodle soup w/ duck was $25. It comes with 4 small shrimp dumplings, broth, some Chinese veg, and choice of noodles. I added roast duck for $7 and got 4 very small pieces of duck. General Tso's shrimp is $24. I suppose if I was rich(I am, but it's only my name) I may still order from here. Went here for a girl's lunch today. This was the perfect place for a chat & chew. I was so busy chatting I forgot to take pictures of our delicious food! Everyone ordered something different from the lunch menu, and each person absolutely loved their food. We all said we would come back, and would even come alone for those times when you want to enjoy your own company. The food was very good and satisfying. This place is excellent! Pros Lightening fast delivery! Food is still hot upon arrival! If you order a noodle bowl your noodles arrive in a separate container from your broth to keep it from getting mushy. Pork Noodle wonton soup was flavorful, bok choy was fresh, mei fun noodles cooked to perfection. Duck Noodle Wonton soup - the duck was bursting with flavor, even once the meat was gone I was still sucking on the bone for all is flavor! I also love that the duck didn't have an overly gamey taste. Con The last few times I've ordered delivery I didn't receive a call or a text. Ambiance was very relax, nice place to pick up quick food and have a good conversation. Staff was friendly and food was prepared fast.

Overall this SangKee location is clean. Customer service is definitely better than elsewhere. Price wise, this location is slightly higher but still acceptable. I ordered a roast duck noodle. I gotta say other location always end up giving me no meat and bones. At least I get pieces of duck that have meat in them. A good place to go to when I don't want to drive down to Chinatown or downtown to grab some roast duck noodle or other Chinese food. Do not order the Dan Dan noodles expecting anything close to traditional Dan Dan noodles. We got two orders, expecting the usual but instead received containers with just noodles and very little sauce that when mixed just tasted like old peanuts - no chili oil, no pork, no real flavor. I gave it 3 tries because I didn't want to believe it at first.. the noodle soups taste like boxed/canned chicken broth, the dumplings are reminiscent of the neighborhood Chinese take out place and the salt baked seafood it's just flat out flavorless and low quality... the prices are through the roof. Clearly they are that high due to them taking advantage of their location, but come on, at least the quality of food can match the prices.. take the drive to Chinatown, your chances of getting better food will increase greatly. read more

One of my asian friends made fun of me for ordering from here because there's a Sangkee in center city but as a pasty white broad, what do I know? Food was ready when I arrived, granted I arrived about 20 min after my set ETA. It just wasn't good. My love muffin loses her shit over seaweed salad so I threw that onto the order for her but her excitement abruptly wore off when she came to the realization that it wasn't good. I also ordered mapo tofu which was under the "vegetables" section but unfortunately had meat in it. I wish they had just put this under pork. Despite the pork, it just wasn't good, in any way. I couldn't eat it. I also ordered string beans which usually is my fucking shiiiiit. They were ok, like they were edible but they weren't particularly good. There's MUCH better shit in the center city. After ordering I really wish I had ordered from somewhere else as it wasn't particularly satisfying and I was still hungry. read more

Sangkee has become one of my favorites spots to eat in my area. It was the first restaurant I tried when I moved to my new neighborhood and I have been coming back again and again ever since. It's the perfect spot for a casual meal. The staff are always polite and the service is usually pretty quick. I came here for lunch on a Wednesday. There were a lot of tables and the place was spacious. There were a lot of variety for everyone to choose, so there was something for everyone. I got the roast duck with vegetable rice. The duck was meaty and chewy. As well the vegetable and meat complemented well with the rice. The service was great - they took our orders, gave us the correct food and it was relatively easy to get their attention for anything else such as an extra pair of chopsticks. I don't like to leave bad reviews, the takeout service was very warm and personable, but here I am. I really LOVE dan dan noodles, but I don't work downtown anymore so taking a trip to Han Dynasty or Spice 28 is out of the question, but I had a taste for them. I looked on yelp and found a place that was several miles away, but I thought it was worth the trip. I ordered 2 orders on Dan Dan noodles and scallion pancakes and was so excited, but I was so disappointed. The noodles had barely any sauce and it wasn't tasty AT ALL. No spice at all. I ordered 2 and wasted all that money. The scallion pancakes were the greasiest things ever. I'm sure there are other things that are wonderful, but this wasn't it. Sidebar: I forgot that I'd ordered from here when I was craving Dan Dan noodles and as I was driving here, I realized it was the same place that I'd been to before (YIKES!!!!). I almost turned around and abandoned the order, but I picked it up and tried it. It was just as terrible as it was the 1st time. Came here to celebrate my dads birthday and we were not disappointed at all. We needed up visiting on a Saturday around 3. The vibe is very laid back and when went inside to eat the crowd was relatively small. Since I moved to the area I've been looking for a quality Asian restaurant and I think I found THEE spot. It's give me an authentic feel without the need of going to Chinatown and I appreciate it that greatly. Now onto the food. No complaints here, everything was flavorful, tasty and came out hot! Ordered Peking duck dinner set for take out last night. Hoping the wrap can be the bun, boy I was wrong. A little disappointed with the wrap but everything else taste so good. The dinner set include whole duck, 2 hoisin sauce, 10 wraps, a bag of shredded scallions, yang chow fried rice, and the duck bone soup. The duck is perfect, just the way I love. Plenty of meat and fat skin yum. I have enough leftovers to make a meal for the next day. Of course, the skin are no longer crispy, but still delicious. The duck bone soup is very flavorful too. Add some noodles to the soup, there is another meal. This duck dinner set cost $55 after taxes, it is worth it when I got 3 meals out of it lol read more

Treated myself to lunch and didn't want to trek into city center. I've eaten at the neighboring H Mart food court many times and figure I would give this a shot. Went with a nice bowl of shrimp dumpling noodle soup and added some roast pork. Broth was great, dumplings were just right, and the pork was amazingly tender with just a little bit of burnt crunch/crust (wish I had some more of that.) The dim sum sampler was hit or miss for me. Soup dumplings were a little small, but the broth was rich and flavorful. The bbq pork buns were pretty standard but done well. The other dumplings didn't do it for me. The shui mai was kind of one dimensional and flat tasting. The har gow/shrimp dumpling were a bit off, I think more seafood like then a proper shrimp dumpling. The chive dumpling was just kind of there as well. Even with the varied success of dim sum, the soup is going to bring me back for more. - Update - I've been back a few times and really am enjoying some other items. Had the same soup but with duck instead of the roasted pork. That duck is really flavorful. Last visit I had a bowl of the shrimp dumpling soup and the roast duck, roast pork, rice, and vegetables plate. Even though it's only white rice, the juices from the duck and pork make it even more delicious. Those shrimp dumplings are great, I even asked where they were from last time. The cooking here has been consistently great for the 8 or 9 years we have been coming, but WHAT HAPPENED to the prices?? Most restaurants have increased prices from all the supply issues from COVID, but here, it seems like most items have been jacked up $3 to $10 or more beyond what's remotely reasonable. No plate of fried rice is $16, no Peking Duck is $41 unless you have been flown to Beijing, standard chicken entrees are not in the $20 range. We just cannot justify SangKee as a family destination anymore, which stinks because we really have liked the waitstaff. Someone talk some sense into whoever is making the decisions. read more

Pretty big dining room, quiet on a Monday at 5 Everything packed nice for to go order. Had noodles separate from broth so they wouldn't over cook. Even had a carrier bag for my bubble tea. Awesome roast pork noodle soups (includes ramen to keep you quite full)! We couldn't decide between wonton and shrimp dumpling so got both and mixed for family to share Spring rolls (chicken and veggie) were crispy but I wasn't crazy over either. Next time I'll try duck or seaweed instead Dim sum platter was good, and would be a good appetizer eating in, but it was prob not necessary w the shrimp dumpling and wonton soup since we had plenty of dumplings Roast pork over rice w veggies - roast pork good but there wasn't as much as other places. Last minute choice, but so worth it! I had a Thai Tofu and curried vegetable dish along with brown rice and a spring roll on the side. The tofu was firm and flavorful as well as the veggies being crisp and succulent. The spring roll was moist on the inside and crispy on the out- just the way I prefer. The waitstaff was incredibly helpful and gave suggestions for my return visit! I will definitely return to this Cheltenham gem. read more

I've only been to the city one a few times but never got to try this one until recently. the food here is really good; not too salty (at least when I tried) and it has a good balance in the duck noodle dish that I had. my friend that I went with is a regular so we got treated with a special dish from the kitchen on the house which showed me that these people will treat you right if you come to the joint enough and make friends with them. brownie points for showing loyal customers some love. the place is sizeable; can fit a decent group size without a problem. I would love to come here more often but... it's like a Chick-fil-a in terms of opening... I always want to come here on the day that it is closed because my schedule just happens to work out that day... kinda annoying. I usually go to Sangkee "Pecking Duck" in the city, but my family and I decided to give this one a try since it's 25 min closer and we absolutely loved it. We always order the same thing: whole duck with pancakes and roasted pork over rice with vegetables. This platter was lacking a bit of the sauce that makes the rice so flavorful like the one in the city, but other than that the food is on top here. It's extremely clean inside, and the staff is amazing. They always walk around and serve with smiles on their faces and asks multiple times if we need anything or if everything is going well. This one particular waiter was on point, he even opened the hand wipes packaging for my family at the end of the meal. I 100% recommend coming here, and my family and I will come here more often than the one in the city since it's so convenient and delicious. I know pad Thai is a weird thing to order from here but my daughter insisted that's what she wanted. It was literally noodles smothered in ketchup. The dish cost $18 (to be fair there might have really been that much ketchup used to make it though). The spring rolls tasted kinda like bad oil too. Really bad all around.
