We also tried the butter tea, which was not what I expected either. The restaurant was pretty empty when we walked in, which probably should have been our first warning sign. The saving grace was the chicken wings, which were actually good, along with a cold Coca-Cola. Overall, it was a mixed experience. There were a couple of good things, but the food quality definitely needs improvement. 3 stars.

We decided to stick with the chicken sekuwa, the salmon curry and a side of roti. The chicken sekuwa was a great surprise, it came with like a puffed rice that was superglue to eat texturally and went great with the marinated chicken. The fries were not expected but very enjoyable as I love fries. The salmon curry was something very different so I definitely wanted to try that. The curry in itself was on the looser end, more like a soup however, the flavor was really good and the salmon was nice and tender. The roti was a lot more like a tortilla than what I was expecting but it was still enjoyable. Overall the food was definitely new to my palate and super light which I enjoyed and the service was great. The food did take a while to come out but the server did check up on us to let us know as well and helped us with getting sauces that we asked for. I can't wait to try out their momos next time I stop by!

I felt like the prices were little high for a cafe located in Queens. We ordered Aloo cheese pakora, veg chowmein and dumplings combo and beef keema noodles. Me being a Nepali, food was really dissapointing. Aloo pakora was okay. Keema noodle was very dissapointing, didn't taste like keema noodle, beef was saucy. We added some more chilly oil which made it easier to eat. We don't waste food, so we did finish it. I will not be comming back to this place for sure.

The Chicken Chilly with Rice had tender chicken. I love the onions mixed in. It is not spicy, so you can ask for some house hot sauce (the waiter offered it) if you want more of a kick. The house hot sauce is has a spiciness that builds up! The rice was great for soaking up the sauce (I used it to soak up the johl as well). The Masala Tea had a great spice. I like adding some sugar to help balance the spices (I used ~1 packet, they give you 2, but I'm sure you can ask for more). i wanted to try the Lhaphing, but they don't make it anymore. Hopefully they update their menu to reflect that. Overall, a nice chill space for a small group or solo diner. A couple of the other diners were working on their laptops (like a cafe!)

Another stop on my first Jackson Heights food tour. This Nepalese spot offers Nepali foot,…read moreBhutanese food, Tibetan food, and Indian food. The food types are similar but offer different spice/flavor profiles. They have a large section of noodles, soup, and rice. A veggie section with various combos of cauliflower, potatoes, onion, bamboo, blackened peas, mustard greens, and spices. Some of the Indian dishes: paneer butter masala, palak paneer, chicken tikka masala. Some of the appetizers include crispy tofu, fried soybeans, a Nepali snack platter with marinated meat, goat, beef tripe, sliced beef tongue, fried jerky, duck. They also have a momo section. We had their famous chicken lollipops (essentially fried chicken) and it was crispy and spicy (in a good way). We also had sadeko (marinated or tossed) bacon, which was rich and tender. I had one of their Nepali cocktails, which was pleasantly spicy (the chatpata aam, made with tequila, spicy chatpatey syrup, and mango puree). Service was attentive. Inside is cozy, lots of dark wood and colorful flags. They also often have entertainment in the evening, so I would love to return to hear some live music while trying more Nepali cuisine.

A bit overrated and overshadowed by the nice ambiance…read more I may be biased since I've been to Nepal twice and my palate consisted of dal bhat every single day I was there (momos were a luxury on the trek)--which in no way makes me an expert, but the taste and portions were pretty consistently similar among most places. The first time that I came here was about 3 years ago with a few friends and we liked the food - the beef tongue was different and super memorable and the jhol momos were just swimming in flavorful curry. Made me want to come back again. Fast-forward three years later, I feel like things have changed significantly. Or maybe I didn't catch them at their best, but I came with another group of friends and I just felt overall disappointed with the food, as did my friends who were excited to try Himalayan food for the first time. I had the goat dhat bhat and the small amount of meat served in aesthetically pleasing bowls to mask the portion was disappointing--and this was not a lunch special or anything. I mainly got a big bone and realistically got about 2-3 small bites of actual meat, while there was an overwhelming amount of rice and veggies. The momos also tasted like they were pre-made and heated or steamed up again because the dough was definitely a little rough. Overall, this experience was a meh for me. I think it is a social staple for many Nepalese and Tibetans in the area, and just for that.

Darjeeling Kitchen & Café - Himalayan Curry: I don't typically like mushrooms but these were divine and the hint of carmelized onions on the Chinese broccoli was great!

LOVE these momos! Probably the best I've had so far…read more The curry was so flavorful and the pan fried momos were 10/10. Best Momos around!…read more If the title doesn't tell you everything, this review will. I found out about this place months ago and it was finally time to give it a try. My spouse and I are always down to find good momos, and this being close by and Tibetan cuisine, it was definitely a must. Ambience: It seats a decent crowd. It has nice Tibetan artwork and you feel the warmth from the owners. It's cozy and it felt great. Service: Top notch. I don't say this lightly. The server sat us down and was just so joyful. Her smile and demeanor made you feel welcomed. Brought us water and asked the usual and offered to explain any dishes. Now we are onto the good -- might I say great -- part. THE FOOD. We didn't order momos on our first visit. Food: My wife got the Himalayan Rice set (chicken) and I got the Rildok. We also got the Shabhaley -- from the description I thought it was literal meat. The Shabhaley, to put it, looks like an empanada. It was far from it in the best possible way. The pastry was crisp but soft and the beef filling was divine! Seasoned with so much flavor and it was paired with a beautiful sauce. The Rildok was exquisite. In my opinion -- I even told one of the servers, whom I now know is one of the owners, that the flavor profile reminded me of a cheeseburger, and it's my favorite new dish. The Himalayan Rice set was awesome. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The tingmo (like a bread) was soft and delicious, paired well with the chicken. The dal reminded me of my own homeland's dal. We've now been back here multiple times. My goal is to try the entire menu. The vegetable khoty momo was surprisingly my favorite, and I'm someone who loves meat. I've now had all the flavors and preparations of the momos, and you can't go wrong! This place is a gem. Their quality of food is top notch, and their actual aunties are in the back making this with so much love. I want everyone to try it. The owner and his staff are amazing and welcoming. They remembered me from my second visit, and that speaks volumes. They're all down to earth and it shows. The passion they have for their food and their kindness shines through. Parking: Can be rough depending on time of day.

They also started me off with complimentary popcorn, which was tasty and at the end of the meal, they gave us a small complimentary dessert. Overall, I would recommend this place.
