Love Nathan's work to death but the disrespect isn't worth it! Time and time again me and my family call to book appointments the woman takes the time name and number but 75% we don't get the set times we booked for because the woman who answers the phone is LAZY OR SLOW! I'm really not sure which one atp. I've been coming to this salon since 2012 when Lynn and Kenny, God Rest His Soul were there. Then Susan and Missy came along and I took to Susan with Missy as a back up and then Lynn as the back up back up because she was always booked and busy. Susan and Missy parted with the Salon and I started to part because Lynn was always booked. My aunt told me about Nathan roughly a year ago and I've been going ever since until last night. I will never set foot into this salon UNLESS Lynn returns because I have a very busy schedule right now and me booking in advance should be honored by any means! That's what an appointment is! I found the owner rude, at least the person opening the salon at 10:00. She was the only one there. This person was limited in English proficiency, and she couldn't communicate well. Limited English proficiency would have been acceptable, but the service was perfunctory. Nails were left longer than I requested, and she couldn't understand that I wanted a flesh color, so she applied a clear coat instead. The manicure was so very bad that it lasted only two days. Worth the $100. I got an acrylic full set, designs on all nails, & a pedicure. The woman who did my set & pedicure was fast but did really well & I had a younger guy do the design. He nailed it! (No pun intended & I needed them shorter than the reference pic). I gave him a picture & he copied it perfectly. The only problem I have with this place is hygiene. They don't use a liner for the foot tub & the tools don't seem the most sterile. read more

The Example that yelp gives us as a prompt describes an urban oasis spa get away. This place could not be farther from that! I hate throwing small businesses under the bus, and I rarely take the time to review, but I had to share my disappointment. My daughter is at children's hospital near by and I really needed some R+R, not just a mani pedi. First of all the salon opened late. The ac was cranked over night and the salon was ARCTIC! Since it's a hot summer day we were all wearing cute short dresses with bare legs! I can't feel my extremities! Next the massage chair didn't work and the technician was jarring with her movements. Very unfriendly experience compounded by a lack luster leg massage with surgical gloves on (no slide). My manicure followed suite with the same poor aptitude. Cold water for nail soak, and Saran plastic covered stone cold desks to place our bare arms. Brrrrrr. The dryer was frigid. And I could not wait to get out of here. The good news is that the mani / pedi turned out well. It just was not a pleasant experience. If you are into wham bam thank you mam- you will be happy here. Ok guys, this place is absolutely horrible despite the positive reviews here. Yes, you can get your mani/pedi at a lower price here but you have the take into consideration how gross and unsanitary this place is. Their utensils/ nail equipment looked dirty and NOT CLEAN - their cuticle cutter was fairly rusty and old. As I'm getting a manicure, I cannot help but be grossed out with the stuff they use like their clear nail polish for the top coat, looked cloudy and not clear. Secondly, I asked to get my lips waxed. It was an older lady who waxed my lips but every time after she pulled the wax strip, she would reuse it on the other side of my lip, where the wax strip already had hair and sticky stuff on it. I was NOT PLEASED. I felt it was so gross and was afraid I'll start breaking out into zits because of how unprofessional they did their job. I wanted to immediately go home and rinse off my mouth area before I eat - honestly, it was that bad. On the bright side, it cost $8 for a lip wax so you cannot complain about the price. I just felt this place was extremely unsanitary and not clean. Please come into this place with the mindset that the price is fairly low and they also have very bad color choices for your nails. The colors they had were very dried out and just plain AWFUL. I CAN GO on and on about how poor this salon is. I guess if you just want your nails done and do not care about the quality, the cleanliness, nor location, this could be the place to go... however, it's so disgusting and grimy that it would be smarter to spend your money at another salon. This place is a hit or miss. I work with Susan (haven't been back here in awhile, so I'm not sure if she's there). I think it depends who your nail technician is. Numerous times I've got my cuticles cut too much (to the point of bleeding), wrong shape, or have been dissatisfied with my nails, but every time Susan does my nails I'm happy. They don't have A/C in the summer so it can get hot. Also you can use Venmo with some of the workers (not sure if it's available for everyone). Also, even if you make an appointment ahead of time they don't take that into much consideration and you're stuck waiting, so my tip is to try going weekday before 3-4PM. read more

Although the curb appeal isn't great, and the place seems dark, it is very nice on the inside. They have about 4 massage chairs for pedicures and lots of nail tables. Plenty of selection for colors and at least 3 people ready to assist. I was also not the only customer in there which makes it feel less awkward. They did a great job on my regular polish pedicure and it was only $30. They could benefit from some background music playing to make the silence better when they aren't taking to each other. Please save your money and time! The customer service I received from the OWNER (male) was downright disgraceful and discriminatory. He failed to honor the work done on my nails and refused to change my nail color without charging me, after I had my nails done the day before (paid full price and left a $15 tip). He had the nerve to call my phone today and tell me I was too picky about my nails and could no longer accept my business. I am sorry sir, do customers not have the right to change their minds or be "picky" when they are spending their own money? I decided that I wanted to get my nails done very last minute one evening..and by last minute, I mean 15 minutes before the salon was supposed to close. I called to see if there was any way they could squeeze me in, and Susie picked up the phone. She was very pleasant despite me calling annoyingly last minute. She told me that it was perfectly fine that I come in even though I didn't have an appointment and I would arrive right when they close. She even warned me there would be a slight wait because there were a few customers there already. When I arrived to the salon, I had a short wait. The employees there tagged teamed my fill, so that I wasn't waiting the entire time with nothing to do. Susie was my main technician. She was fantastic! She didn't rush the process at all even though I'm sure she probably wanted to go home after a long day. She checked in periodically to make sure I liked the job she was doing and was attentive to my wishes. She was even patient when I was struggling to decide between two colors. Technical-wise, she was an expert with the drill, moving quickly/efficiently but not once nicking my skin or making a mistake. I walked out of the salon a very happy customer after being nervous that I would surely be in for a rushed job. And as I walked out, another customer walked in! Flexible as ever, Susie and her co-worker told the woman that they would do her manicure, pedicure, AND brow waxing that evening. I paid $60 total 50 for the acrylic full set that's including gel with medium to long nails and I tipped $10 , When I left I was originally happy with the outcome but when I got home I noticed the nails were on the thinner side and the shape wasn't the best coffin , for paying 60 you can definitely say I got played . On the third day a nail broke and by the end of the week I had lost about 4 nails. I've been getting my nails done since I was 16 26 now and I've had longer nails that have lasted me longer will not be returning here for my full sets. So my coworker recommended this place since it's close to the job and she goes there. I called ahead.. 1st sign that things would end badly. I was told "sure come at 5", but no one asked my name, the service, my number anything, so of course i get there and it's a wait time, i wait like 30 minutes in these horribly sunken waiting chairs. So i had previous gel nails, I've always been wrapped for removal.. they sit you in acetone and proceed to scrape your nails, so of course they damaged my natural nail. And i was looking at them mortified, probably why the lady said i can fix it for you.. you don't have to fix what you don't destroy. So she then proceeds to do my pedicure, which was the quickest in my life, while i sit in the chair that is broken on recline and has no massage feature because it's broken. Then they proceed to start my gel nails, the worst rushed and uneven job ever. Okay, when I left the nail salon, I told my friends it was the worst manicure I'd ever had. They squeezed me in before an appointment (which was nice) but this lady was FLYING. It was complete and utter mayhem! I had no idea how many coats each finger got and she was doing like 2 and three at a time. BUT its now been over a week and I've only been able to pick off two nails. I'm the kind of person where if one nail goes, they all have to go and I can usually pick off a good manicure in under a week but I straight up cannot get the other nails off!! Three stars only because I should have read reviews. While I wait for my child to be operated on I decided that husband and I could kill some time and treat ourselves to some pedicures. We call ahead, she says come now. We get there they sit us next to each other, cool. Husbands chair is apparently broken. So I ask him to be moved. Instead of moving us both they only move him. Then seat an older gentlemen in the broken chair which was placed ridiculously close to me. So that was fine, so much for 6feet? I also did not see them clean that area before placing older gentlemen in the area where my husband was originally sitting. I did not see them clean any of the hardware at all. When she was done with him I noticed her cap the cuticle remover and place metal box back in her location. No sanitation. My nail tech did like three coats, by this point I was disgusted and am in fear I'll end up with a fungus. I left and smudged my toes on the way out. read more

I honestly don't understand how this place has such bad reviews. I just went in recently to get a full set done and it was such a great experience! It's been really tough for me to find a place that does acrylics in Boston and once I realized how close this location was to me I decided to check them out regardless of reviews. I forgot his name, but a young man did my set and was very friendly and took his time to do my nails even though I went in 45min before they closed. SERVICE/MANAGEMENT: terrible I've gone to this place to get my nails done every 2 weeks for about 4 months. I used to go because they were cheap, I was new in town, and it was located conveniently close to my workplace. BUT, I went yesterday and it was the WORST experience I have ever had (and I have gone through my fair share of nail salons). I made an appointment at 5:00pm. By 5:30pm, I was quite agitated. As I finally sat down at my designated seat at 5:35pm, another customer comes by and says she had an appointment at 5:30pm and would like to start at that moment. My 5:00pm appointment suddenly didn't matter compared to someone who came after me with a later appointment. I didn't get started until 6:00pm and that was after I complained and was patient enough to wait another supposed 10 minutes (which in reality was really 20 minutes). I don't get my nails done ever, really, but decided to go here with a friend for a little relaxation during a busy week. I got a pedicure, which was $22 (usually $25 I believe, but cheaper because I went on a Wednesday). From walking in the door, picking out my color, and getting into the chair I'd say maybe 5 minutes passed, very quick service which was great. The lady who did the pedicure was a little rough with the brush on the tops of my feet, but overall she did a good job and was friendly. They accepted my credit card, but I opted to tip in cash. Having said that, I heard them ask someone else if they wanted to add the tip to the card so I think that is an option as well. For the convenience and price I'm sure I'll be back! read more

Don't come here--save your money. I had an issue with my normal nail salon and was in a jam before an event last week so I ran in to Nails Spa by Time as it is down the street from my office in the Longwood Area. Immediately, when I came in someone took me to a table to start my manicure--I think that's when things stopped going well. I was given the gel colors to choose from and asked where the OPI selection was since I prefer OPI and know it does not chip and stays on my nails. The technician immediately snapped at me, "No OPI--DND better" and she continued to repeat this for the first 10 minutes I was there. I finally just got up and looked at the few bottles of OPI polish the salon carried and noticed they must be sponsored by this brand--DND--because the OPI gel was gross and almost goopy or chunky (if possible with nail polish). A man said he would then do my nails for me instead of this older woman and again he told me no the DND was the better gel. I was desperate so I said fine. I am writing this review 4 days later and all my nails have started to chip and one nail has completely peeled off--guess DND gel isn't better. This was a waste of $27. I don't care if its cheaper than any other place around...clearly you get what you pay for. As well, I have to echo the other reviews of this salon--it is incredibly unsanitary and disgusting. Technicians were eating strong smelling foods at a table right behind where I was getting my nails done that honestly ruined my experience as well. There was dirt all pushed in to a back corner. I peered in to the waxing room and it looked like it had never been mopped. As well there were empty pizza boxes just sitting by the sink where clients were sent to wash their hands. Love this place. It's so close to Brigham Circle, literally less than a block. Also, Mon - Weds they have a special on pedicures...$20! I think there is a special on acrylics too but I'm not sure. It's your typical nail salon...nothing special but clean and cheap. They do eyebrows too, but I have never had mine done here. Sometimes there is a wait, if you go at 4 or 5 pm when everyone is getting out of work. One note...I typically go 3 weeks between pedicures but sometimes get a polish change in between because I get bored with colors. A polish change usually runs me $6 or $7 but here it was $10...for another $10 you can get an entire pedicure! Just something to think about. read more

But every couple months those bad boys get out of control and I need a professional to come in a set me on the right track again. Enter Nails Spa by Time (whatever the hell that means). As both a resident of Northeastern's campus and of Mission Hill, they have been my go to place to get my catepillars taken care of. It's cheap, and they know what they're doing. I have only walked by this place about eleven thousand times after shopping at El Horrendo Stop & Shop. I thought, I wonder what a pedicure is like. Sure, I'm 32, never had a pedicure. Fisher Price Pedicure, does it exist? I dunno, I'll try this place, it looks good for beginners like me. I walked in, they fit me in right away! Yipeeee! I didn't really know the procedure, but the woman who did my feet pushed my feet in the direction they were supposed to go. And I didn't know my feet could actually look like that. I work in one of the hospitals, so I wanted to try this place. I was left with 2 cuts in different fingers, which was not a great start. Also, the guy didn't do a very good job at filing, but maybe that's subjective. My nails grow really fast, so when I get gel it's important to me that they start the polish close to the cuticle. He didn't. The end result looked like the polish had grown out for a week. I will say they had a nice polish selection, and the polish is staying. I stand by the review I gave before, however, I have knocked off a star because the last couple of times I've come in they were either super busy or they were expected a crowd and so they rushed through my nails. It was to a point where the quality of how my nails were done became compromised. The very last straw for me was when the nail tech charged me $27 instead of $25. I'm not paying anything extra for the job she gave. She didn't even completely cover my nails in protective coat.
