I've been to this salon several times and never had a bad experience. Nice staff, good service and experienced technicians. I definitely recommend them. read more

The salon is clean, but the staff is not very friendly. Especially the girl at the desk when you first walk in. She had long hair and glasses. She was very short answered, non approachable, and acted like I was bothering her. My gel manicure came out good, but there suppose to be relaxing.. this was not the case read more

My new favorite nail place! Everyone who works at Nail Maxx is super friendly and does great work. I've had gel manicures from 3 different people and each one has been great quality with serious attention to detail. They're extremely clean, even lining the foot baths with plastic. They've also accommodated me walking in at the end of the day. I highly recommend! read more

I have been a client of yours for many years along with my mother . Yesterday I had my nails done there by Tom and one nail has already broken off (I just filed it down to look nicer). The problem I'm having is the bad customer service that I was given today when I visited your salon. On the phone yesterday I was told that I could have an appointment to come in and get my nail fixed. However when I arrived at the store this morning the lady in the front shrugged her shoulders in my face and said you'll have to wait we're not gonna replace your nail only fill it in. I paid $80 for the service and it doesn't matter if I got my nails originally put there or not. The fact is that your worker provided me a service and his work was not up to standard. I should not have to pay to fix my nail when it was his fault that it broke it was his work that didn't hold up, next time you need to pay more attention to your loyal customers. I'm sorry but I won't be going there anymore read more

I loved it here! Best nail salon I've been to in West Roxbury!! I walked in (11/28/16) and they had room for a gel manicure and regular pedicure and sat me right away. Overall pros: very kind staff, clean atmosphere, relaxing, great color selection (gel and regular). Overall cons: street parking is limited, so parking by the Starbucks across the street makes the most sense. Pedicure pros: separate rooms for each individual pedicure chair! This makes it feel like your own individual spa! Also, comfortable massage chair, clean foot bath (disposable liner), clean gloves used by the pedicurist, paraffin wax is included for heels. Pedicure cons: none. Manicure pros: great gel color selection, manicure looks beautiful, fresh buffer used, fresh gloves used. Manicure cons: they didn't use cuticle oil (and my cuticles are very dry) but that could be because it was a gel mani. read more

Way overpriced for the service provided. Mediocre mani and pedi and very fast. Was told the wait would be 15 minutes after 25 I asked, oh we'll be right with you the wait was actually one hour, the pedicure was 20 minutes and gel manicure about the same amount of time. The end product was not worth the wait or the price. read more

My first experience there was very positive. I had a mani and pedi which came out fantastic. The manicurist gave me the wrong nail polish, but when all was said and done, it looked great! They took me without an appointment and treated me like a regular customer. Thank you Nail Maxx! read more

I told them I wanted a full set acrylic and first thing they try is to put some cheap fake nail tips on. After I told them that's not acrylic they finally did what I asked after much arguing. The whole time they all hovered over me looking at me and speaking in Chinese and laughing at me. This salon is extremely unknowledgeable and rude. I should've saved my money and done my nails at home. I know how to do a fake nail using builder gel but wanted something professional because I'm going on a trip. When the girl heard this she sarcastically asked me if I'm a nail tech because I was trying to show her how to use nail forms correctly since she was failing and confused. Save your money. Watch some YouTube videos. I probably have more knowledge from that than these "nail technicians" do. read more

First and last time I will ever go. Never have I ever been so rushed for a mani and pedi and the job obviously was mediocre.

I luv this place!!! I had my first pedi about 2 weeks ago and my toes still look good!!! I was very pleased with the service. It was relaxing!!! I'm definately going back..... Jlo read more

Best pedicures in Boston. First off, their pedicures always last me a while without chipping at all which is great. The staff is very friendly as well. You get a whole booth to yourself during your pedicure with a relaxing massage chair. They use plastic liners which makes me feel better knowing this place is super sanitary. Excellent foot massages with a few different oils during the pedicure. Definitely recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood! read more

I went here for 4 months straight to get acrylic fills. During that time, I grew MOLD under my nails and two of the acrylic nails fell off. Previously, I has been seeing another manicurist for the same service for over 7 years and I never had mold or nails falling off before. This is not a very good place to get acrylics. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed. read more

I've been coming here for some time now & for the most part they do a wonderful job here. Definitely one of the best nail salons in the West Roxbury/Roslindale area. The owners are friendly & always exude great customer service. The wait is never long, although I recommend making an appointment for each visit. Some nail techs are better than others so the quality of gel manicures & pedicures vary unfortunately. I've had some that lasted 3 weeks & others that lasted no more than a week & a few days. Another issue I have is that some of the nail techs (two in particular) don't have to take "certain" customers. As I've mentioned I've been coming here for over 2 years & I've never had services done by two techs. I came close to having one service me about 3 weeks ago & she switched with another tech to service a white woman instead of me. It wasn't a regular client; new customer & both of us were getting pedicures. I found it quite obvious & funny! And not in a good way. read more

I really like this place and have always been happy with both my manicures and pedicures. Some of the ladies are more social than others, but they are all friendly. The wait is generally minimal unless you walk in on a Saturday afternoon. If you make an appt though, they do honor it. read more

I used to love this place, until now. I was in Sunday Jan 13, at noon for a gel manicure. I have been a patron for years . I got there early and had to wait. OK, fine. I was given to Lindsey, the owner , to do my nails. I have had her before and had to have another manicurist fix her mess. The polish chipped in two days( gel) and the square shape( not my preference) kept catching on things because the angels were so sharp. OK fine. I was immediately disappointed to have Lindsey again, but she is the owner and I did not want to be rude. It was not good. The manicure was average at best. The following morning, Monday Jan 14,2019, I awoke to see my ring finger swollen and sore to the touch at the point where the edge of the nail and skin meet.. There is redness, heat and swelling but the skin is not cut. The utensils she used were filthy, no other explanation. Begrudgingly I called the salon to speak to Lindsey and explain the situation. The female who answered the phone was unsympathetic and essentially accused me of infecting my own finger. I told her I would send her a picture but she wanted me to come in. I was working in Dorchester and coming in is / was out of the question. I wanted someone to be compassionate that my finger is infected, possibly needing medical attention and make it right. If I do end up at a Drs. office a lawyer will be involved.I understand stuff does happens, but the lack of responsibility is inexcusable. I have spent 100's of dollars at Nail Max but after this I will never go back. It would have been appreciated to refund my money, given they infected my finger. You hear about nail salons not sterilizing their tools and this is a clear example of that. It's too bad but they are not worth it. There are too many salons around to have to put up with this level of bad customer service and mediocre service. It is too bad because there are a couple manicurist there that are wonderful, Lindsey is NOT one of them. read more

Like: private space for pedis, calm atmosphere Dislike: lazy massages (it is the best part so u should make it good!)

I called ahead for an appointment for pedicure but still waited 15 minutes before a male desk staff brought me to a room, turned on (cold) water and said someone would be right there. I waited another ten minutes with my feet in the cold water and finally called out to another technician who walked by and said " I don't know who is with you". Shortly after another woman (who was also sitting at the desk when I arrived) came in LAUGHING and said "I forgot you". The technician who eventually did come to do the pedicure was very kind and apologetic, but I found the rest of the staff to be so rude that I am not sure I will return. read more

Very unprofessional owner , and some staff!!I do not recommend this place. I tried this place a few times, and I won't go there any more. My gel nail polish came off after a couple of days and they charged me again to fix it ! I do not recommend this place at all!!! read more

I will not be going back to this place. I'm pretty upset about my experience there. Got a mani/pedi done. The pedi came out just okay, the manicure terrible. The nail polish is streaked, there was polish left on the cuticles and not cleaned up, paint is missing at the tops of the nails, and they were filed poorly/uneven. During my pedicure, I was left with small cuts on my achilles/back of heel. Next time I will be choosing another nail salon. read more

I called ahead and asked if they had time for a gel manicure and pedicure. They said not at 530 but come in at 6. I arrived at 555 to see 7 girls waiting. I should have ran away then. Instead they confirmed I was on the list and to pick a color. 20 mins later I got fed up. 5 more girls arrived and only 2 left the wait area. Waste of my time as I just left. I understand if you are busy. Let your customer know if you can't take them! read more

I'm honestly surprised that Nails Maxx doesn't have better reviews. I have been coming here for years; there are plenty of nail salons in West Roxbury, but Nails Maxx is better than the ones I have visited. Here are the pros: -Their salon is spacious and SO clean. -Friendly receptionists. There are two regulars who have different shifts at the front desk, answering calls and taking appointments. Both are incredibly friendly and kind. Once you go a few times, they recognize you and say hello to you by your name. -Nice nail technicians. At other nail salons in West Roxbury and Boston that I have visited, I sometimes feel like I am bothering the nail technician by being there. Not at Nails Maxx. They are sweet and ask nice questions about what you do and how you are. I'm not a very chatty person, though, so it's nice that they let you relax too. For the more talkative clients, they talk with them a lot more. -Beautiful gel manicure. I tell them the shape I want and they do it, and it always looks so great. They ask if I would like my nails cut or just filed, if I like the shape they file, etc. -Fantastic, relaxing pedicure. Not only does the polish look beautiful, but my feet look noticeably better, too. They are soft, smooth, and almost glowy, as weird as that sounds. read more

I've been a loyal customer here since I was a teenager and usually they do a pretty nice job, but today I had the worst experience. I went in to get an acrylic refill and asked my nails to be kept in the coffin shape I already had them shaped in. The nail tech I was assigned to, Tom, completely disregarded the shape and length I wanted my nails to be. During the whole process I had to keep correcting him since he kept filing my nails crooked and each time I did this he got frustrated and just filed my nails harder and harder until it began to hurt. He also used the nail sander so roughly that my thumb began bleeding. I express that it hurt, but he didn't say anything, instead he just kept looking around and not even paying attention to what he was doing on my nails! On top of that his nail table was messy and all wet, leaving my sleeves of shirt wet as well. I pointed it out to him, but again I was ignored. Then when it finally came time for him to paint my nails, he was sloppy. I later went home and cleaned up the edges. At the end of the manicure, the nail tech usually asks if you like everything, if you need anything else, and then they help you with your coat and bag and bring you to the drying station. Instead Tom just finished messily painting my last nail and then pointed for me to leave. I said thank you and told him to have a nice day, but again total silence. He was rude, sloppy, unprofessional, and didn't listen to what I wanted and then I still had to pay full price for a manicure that was not at all what I wanted. Nails Maxx is still a good place, but if you go there do not let Tom do your nails unless you wanted to be disrespected! read more

Came in here for a pedicure today. Loved the individual rooms. The chair massage was a little intense, even on the lowest setting. The pedicure was heaven. Best foot and leg massage I've had in a long time. My toes look great. Will definitely come back for more pedicures and try a manicure next time. read more

I rarely get my nails done but the last three times I've been to this salon (in a span of a year), the service has not be great. The front-desk person is always short and rude, as if they are doing me a favor for being there so that I can spend money. They are never welcoming or helpful. In addition, the quality of the nail service has been poor. On two occasions my gel manicure chipped within a day, and then my acrylic nail polish chipped and a nail fell off within a week. Their other employees are typically nice, but rarely conversational with the clients. It is definitely not worth it given the premium prices! read more

I brought my 5 year old here as her first trip to a nail salon as I was told they were good with kids. The woman we were shown to was beyond rude. I'm not someone who needs my technician to talk to me the whole time, but everything she said (relax your hand, soak, whatever) was said in a rude, clipped tone. When I returned from washing my hands after the hand massage (which was quick and inefficient) she was on her phone. She never acknowledged my daughter except to shoot her frustrated looks and sigh. I put up with it for my mani, but just before she started my daughter I asked her if she could try to smile for the 5 year old. She rudely said "sure" I then said I thought we needed someone else to help us. She said fine and sat there. I asked if she would find someone for us and she said "they heard you" - meaning the three people behind us who clearly didn't hear what was going on. The woman who did take over for my daughter was lovely. Tried very hard with my daughter (who by this point was pretty shy - which she isn't normally). The woman who checked us out apologized and said she spoke to the first woman who said she wasn't able to talk with us during the service because she had choked on her coffee just before we were seated. Seriously? The manager is accepting that as a reason to be rude? While the manager was very apologetic and I think tried her best to handle the situation, the fact that they allow someone so rude and disrespectful to work for them is a reason not to return. Definitely don't go with kids unless you get assured that the person will be kind. read more

The best anyone i recommend there love it my daughter and I have been going from day one Jill and stacey

I have given this salon many many chances to get it right !!! I'm done! It's right around the corner ugh! I had a fill and pedi done on Monday and by weds one nail was broken and by Friday I was filing the corners of two others because they chipped. I went in Monday night and asked if I needed a new set ...she looked at the time and said no...clearly I did she just didn't want to take the time to do it. Nor did she want to take the time to massage my legs for more than 30 seconds...and I always feel so unwelcome when I walk in like I'm bothering someone or something...factory like atmosphere ...never will go back there! read more

The only reason they get 2 stars from me is i have never had a bad experience with waxes. When i get pedis, my feet are never scrubbed enough, even when i ask for more time on scrubbing. I have also experienced bad nail cutting, especially on my big toe, think ingrown nail... it hurts. But my worse experience has always been with my manis. i like to go in with ideas from pinterest. My nails are naturally long, so no point in acrylics for me. However, there have been times where my nails have been overbuffed, shaped poorly, trimmed too short or on a horrible angle. My next problem is who will be giving me my gel manicure. Once, it lasted 2 days before massive chipping started. Other times, way longer. My last gel mani was the saturday before xmas. I wanted something christmasy. Watch out, not everyone here can design like you would find on pinterest. I wanted a candy cane look on all nails. The girl doing it did not want to do the service and flat out told me that she tried to have someone else take me, but they all told her to do it. She did not do a good job cleaning up the cuticles. When it came to painting, she couldnt get the concept of drawing white lines on red nails to look like a candy cane. She had no confidence at all. It was sloppy. When she was done i suggested to her that she should hop on pinterest and start looking at nail designs. I just cant do 1 polish. I need some fun. I will say that she did do something right, with the exception of the white chipping off now, the red hasnt chipped and its been almost a month. In short, ill just go there for waxes, im in the market for different places for my nails. Im done with my mani pedis from there read more

Buyer beware!!!I was there one week ago and got a gel manicure. The technician chatted with me and was very friendly. It was my first visit and I asked if my gel manicure did not stand up, would I be able to come back. She said yes but it should last for at least two weeks. I called approximately 8 days later and was given the runaround by Tony and Dara, the technician. She basically lied throughout the conversation so basically, the tech has selective memory. We talked about gel manicures at length. If you go there, don't sit at her seat. She is in the chair in the front on the left. She is an amateur. read more

I've been going here for about five years now. Yes, sometimes I make an appointment and have to wait a bit; however, that rarely happens. I generally do a gel manicure and a pedicure. In five years, I've only had one gel manicure that did not last over two weeks. I have had gels chip after a few days on a couple of occasions, and they always fix it for free. Overall, this is a good salon. read more

I am one of the few men that gets a manicure here. I really like it here, they do a great job, and the staff are very nice, if you speak to them and say hello. Most of the women who go there, are nice, but a few are on their phones, ignoring the staff. And they sure tip poorly. I think it's a class thing, or the illusion of the power they think they have (at $13) and not the best kind. If you don't talk to the staff, or if you ignore them, or get demanding, or don't tip much, then you are causing greater harm. Get to know the staff. Say hello, ask their name. Chat with them. Even if English is not the first language. Try. Stop looking at your phones or the TV. They are human, and very nice, and will respond in kind, or try, if you try. I really like my manicures here. I would get a pedicure more often, but I am a big guy and the standard basin chairs don't go back far enough in the seat. Overall, I really like this place, it's big and clean and reasonable, and really dislike some of the clientele and their bad tipping or demanding behavior. Nailzillas or prissy-types! Then again, I see the same type of clientele at other salons or, even worse, at other types stores doing the same bad behaviors. Anything under $20 is a bargain, and if some people complain about paying too much at $13, nothing will please them in the end. Spoiled customers overall, with too many demands. Just seen from a male perspective. read more

Discovered this salon a few years after moving to JP and got tired of going to brookline for manicures. Turned out to be a very nice surprise. it's big and spread out, very very clean. the decor is not the usual tacky plastic plants draped over mirrors, but very tasteful, and comfortable. I have not returned to brookine for my nails since! read more

literally my favorite nail place, EVER, they are so nice and offer an incredible service!

I literally just left Nail Maxx about an hour ago. I have to say, I am NOT impressed. $41 for a mani/pedi is just too much. My nails are polished but look like a child did them. I wouls call and complain but the lady never gave me her name. There were a lot of women who work there just hanging around at one of the stations and were not very friendly. I do not think I will be going back any time soon!!! read more

worst acrylic fill I have ever gotten in my life. I've had acrylic nails for about 2 years and i've always been able to just go to any place and get a fill when i cant get to my regular salon....this time, i thought i could do just that and had the worst experience ever. The woman that did my nails rushed me in picking a color, was very unpleasant and didn't talk to me at all throughout the appointment, filed my nails unevenly and would have left them that way had i not said anything, and made them very thick and uneven (one of them looks like a mountain of acrylic). I came home and had to file them again myself to not be completely embarrassed of my nails. the icing on the cake: on one of the nails the acrylic came of in one even piece leaving me a nail that now needs to be completely redone and another nail cracked at the corner....and all of this in less than a week. i'm so pissed. DONT GO HERE! read more
