Really kind people - I called for a last minute appointment to fix some nails that broke before a wedding I have tomorrow and I'm traveling from another state. I needed a quick fix and they took me no problem. Then they tried to not have me pay after fixing 4 nails and I had to Venmo them because that was too nice !!!! So appreciative read more

Went to get a manicure and a few hours later my nails were all chipped. The only activity I did was cooking. Went back to the Salon the next morning and was told I could not get a refund just a new color put on. The two manicurist would not even look at my nails, they stood across the room. I was told the most I could get in a refund was 10 dollars because they had cut my cuticles. I would not recommend very disappointed ! It was a dazzle dry manicure. read more

Pleasant, relaxing, not a lot of chemical smells in the space. The woman who did my pedicure (I forget her name, my apologies) was patient and answered all my questions. I rarely get pedicures and am very sensitive to fragrances, so I was a little anxious and she was very calming. read more

Paid $35 for Dazzle Dry. She didn't use the first step liquid or do the two coats of the base coat as it instructs on their website. The base coat was cloudy and should be run under hot water to clear it. Needless to say on day 2 my nails are starting to chip and I can see air bubbles on my thumbs. read more

Nails Maxx - Less than 24 hours after manicure! - Nail Salons Near Me - West Roxbury, Massachusetts

I got a pedicure today by Tom, and he made me bleed. I walked out a little concerned that he made me bleed and only applied Vaseline to the small womb. I've been nicked before and usually get some alcohol applied. That doesn't seem too hygienic to me only to apply Vaseline. Am I wrong to be concerned? I complained to the manager, and they came and cleaned the womb on my toe with alcohol. Tom lied and said that my toe was already bleeding when I came in and the he didn't do it. That's what the desk manager told me he told her. I find that annoying. He didn't even apologize; the manager at the front desk did. They took 5 dollars off my service for this. During the pedicure, I told him that he was sanding my foot too hard and that it hurt. When I saw the blood, I asked if he was going to put alcohol on it. He replied, "No, Vaseline." I now have to go home and clean the womb properly with antibiotic ointment because Vaseline just didn't seem sanitary. I've been here numerous times, and this is the first time this has happened to me. read more

I was getting tips and they were very clearly crooked but they didn't fix it until I said something. Then instead of completely taking the tip off, the tech layered a new one on top of the old one. The result was crooked and stuck up on those fingers especially. Service here depends heavily on your technician. They are clean, but this was risky. read more

I've been very happy with their service and the look of my nails on a regular basis. I go there for a pedicure and I like the fact that they add the paraffin wax for the heels . The chairs are really comfortable so I'm happy about that. This place is ideal for the neighborhood residence I highly recommend going there on the weekday if you can. read more

I booked an apt. for a pedicure & acrylic fill, I showed up 10 min early, they had me wait 35 minutes, then sat me in the pedicure chair where I waited another 15 minutes. My pedicure was done sloppy, I had nail polish around the nail, and all over my skin and nicely asked her to clean it up. Which she proceed to do half a$$. I attached a photo of the pedicure AFTER she "cleaned them up".... They then had me wait another 20 min to be seated for my acrylic refill. Then the man who did my acrylics, got infuriated that I asked for a design he wasn't able to do (even though I said no worries we'll stick with plain polish) and he got up without saying a word and then a woman came over to finish the half done job he left. I was at Nail Maxx a total of over 2 full hours... A pedicure is no more than 30 min, as for an acrylic refill. Waste of my time for a terrible job. I will never go back. Extremely unprofessional. Don't book clients if you can't take them at the time you scheduled them. read more

The management is super rude and the place is overpriced for what you get but I did really like Anne. Wouldn't come back because of management though and insane price tag given the service you receive. Plenty of other places around. Giving it 3 stars only because Anne was very sweet. read more

Quality had gone downhill. Unfriendly people at front desk. Over priced for what they do.

I usually don't leave reviews on Yelp but wish I had checked the reviews here before coming. The whole experience I had was terrible. After walking through the door I went to pick a nail color & less than 2 minutes later I was being rushed to sit down. When I told the women I wanted coffin nails about medium length just not super long she was visibly annoyed with me. I understand coffin nails are not a short nail shape but I just wanted medium length & didn't feel like it was an unreasonable request. Even if she had told me she wasn't comfortable doing that I would have understood and come up with a different nail shape. After that she started doing my nails and never spoke to me again about my nails. She cut multiple cuticles making them bleed. It was very uncomfortable but I hate being that customer that says something so I sat there and took it. An entire acrylic set took less than 40 minutes because she was completely rushing through the entire process. The second she finished she pushed my hands back to me and told me to go wait for my friend and walked away. I looked at my nails and I was horrified. Throughout the process I was nervous they were not looking good but I didn't want to speak up because I trusted she knew what she was doing. My nails were uneven, NOT a coffin shape & covered in little bumps that I don't even know how it happened. My nails didn't even have a consistent shape. They were completely short and a combination between round and almond I guess. The women had walked away the moment we were done so I had to tell the very nice guy at the desk what had happened. He did not make me pay and was very nice about it. I have literally never complained about my nails before but they were so bad I could not let myself pay for it. Especially with the way the women treated me. I am so scarred I am not planning on getting my nails done for awhile it was so bad. I added pictures of my reference photo and what they turned out to be. read more

I have come here a number of times for regular pedicures. They usually do a great job and it is a very pleasant experience. Yesterday I went and asked for a pedicure and a manicure. I was assigned Tom. I would avoid Tom. The color on my toenails was pretty messy and he accidently nicked me. I would go back to this salon I just would try to call ahead and get someone besides Tom. read more

Don't recommend. Highest price I've encountered for dip manicure. Usually between $40 and $45. Here $50! And charge for removal old dip! And didn't do cuticles or massage. Never before. Will not return even if desperate. read more

Came here with my boyfriend to get mani pedis together and had the best experience I've had with a nail salon in awhile! We were able to get seated for the pedis right away which was super nice. He got a simple manicure and I got dip powder with tips. We both are beyond happy with how our nails came out! Both ladies did an amazing job, we'll definitely be coming back. Update: I'm heartbroken bc in a matter of 6 days 3 nails broke and one chipped. At first I thought it was me but after the second and third broke (within 24 hrs) I'm starting to think it's not. Usually my nails would last 2 weeks before even one would start to lift but with this set they don't feel too strong. At this point I'm debating on whether or not to get them fixed or just take them all off read more

I've gone here a few times and my experiences for pedicures have been great. Unfortunately, the times that I've gone for gel manicures have been less than great. The first time, the woman doing my nails rushed me through the drying process - telling me to leave my hands under the UV machine for 15-30 seconds (at most). I wanted to be respectful of her knowledge of her tools, so I didn't say anything. However, the manicure started peeling the next day. The second time that I went (less than a week later because my manicure was destroyed by then), I had the same woman and she again rushed me through the process. I told her that the polish was going to chip if I didn't leave it under the dryer longer, and she said that it wouldn't because she had it turned the machine up to 100%. I kept it under for longer than she advised, anyway, but she at times seemed frustrated and and told me I only needed to do it for a long time at the end of the whole process, and continued to rush me. My manicure started chipping and peeling a few days later. A friend recently explained that if you don't use OPI while at Nail Maxx, the default brand that they use is a much cheaper brand, which I suppose explains the chipping and peeling after a few days. But because there is a sign prominently displayed on the front desk that states "No refunds," I haven't bothered to complain to anyone there, and I assume that there will be some follow-up apology on this site with no offer to refund the $60 plus dollars I spent in less than two weeks on gel manicures. As a result, I won't be returning. read more

This is my second time getting a pedi here. I only came again because I had a gift cert for the past year and it was on my way to my moms. This place is awful. I had to wait 30 min on a tuesday afternoon. No apology, the guy up front was rude. The service was terrible, she barely took any of the "rough spots" and maybe spent about 30 seconds lightly brushing at it, felt more like a tickle than a pedi, "massage" was like a soft touching of my feet followed by a light scrub down with some Gross mentoled exfoliating gel, half of which is still stuck on the back of my calves! Prices are way too high and the selection of colors is sub par. I will not becoming back even with a gift cert, I'd rather not waste my time or good mood on a Tuesday afternoon. Debating going to my usual $18 place just to feel better about this disaster. read more

Great Technicians. Well done long lasting dip manicures. Friendly people who remember who you are.

I went the first time and had a pretty good experience. I went back the second time and customer service was terrible. The lady was impatient, her attention to detail was lacking, and her work was poor. I just got it done and I'm seeing the paint already chip. Also, it's pretty pricey and they don't do well with designs, which I'm shocked for how costly they are. Overall, I will not be returning to them. They should treat people better read more

I was a regular pre-pandemic and had the best manicures by Nina. The polish would last 4 weeks! I went last week and saw Tom. It was so nice! I made an appointment for an acrylic overlay cause I heard it had strengthen some people's nails before. But the nail tech who I had my appointment with told me that it actually is not good for my nails and gel would be good for me. So, I did gel polish and they came out so lovely! My name is Maggie and I go here a lot and would call myself almost a regular customer but after my last manicure I won't be returning. I get the dip manicure and have for months and this last time I went was the last time I'll be going there. 1. The colors are not on a palette to choose from making it very difficult to pick a color and have it come out the way you think. The color looked pink and it came out completely clear. 2. There are certain steps to a dip manicure to make it stay so well, this past time the girl used shellac gel top coat as the base of my dip manicure which is clearly not the correct or normal way to do the manicure. It resulted in my $45 dollar manicure to chip, separate and break on my trip away after only 4 days. I usually never write reviews but it's a lot of money to spend on a manicure every few weeks and now most of my nails are all broken and short. Unfortunately it ruined my experience here and I now will have to go and get all my nails re done elsewhere. read more

I have been going to Nails Maxx since it opened getting mainly pedicures and rarely a manicure. Other salons all feel cramped and old. Nails Maxx provides pedicure spaces that are semi private and always very CLEAN! . Other places I have gone you have to listen to everyone else's conversations (hate that). I am really surprised by the comments about the woman at the reception desk. Every interaction I have had...whether on the phone or in person she is friendly and accommodating...seems to remember me when I call but certainly when I arrive. read more

I usually have a good experience here but I got a powder dip manicure and the color cracked on many of my fingers. I returned twice to have them fix the broken nails (within 3 days of my manicure). There days later more nails cracked. I went back again (1 week after my original manicure) and asked to have another powder dip since this one did not take. They did another powder dip manicure and charged me $60 even though most of my nails had cracks on them within 1 weeks. read more

I'm new to getting my nails done and have been going to a salon close to my job. Unfortunately, I was never really satisfied with them and was only going for the convenience of its location. A couple of days ago, I had my nails done there for a wedding I'm in this weekend. They were terrible and when I asked for the nails to be fixed, they refused because they said they did a good job. Today, I went to Nails Maxx and told them what happened. They were super helpful! Sarah explained to me that the previous salon had been filing my nails too deeply and causing damage. She gently removed the acrylic and redid my nails for me, doing her best to cover up the damage. They are PERFECT. Nails Maxx is very clean, everyone who works there is very nice and very helpful. If I could give this business 10 stars, I would! I absolutely love Nikki and Kathy and will NEVER see another nail tech again! Nikki does a gorgeous and professional job, quickly when I'm pressed for time and Kathy does an equally wonderful job when I want to sit back and relax. Both women are friendly and courteous. The front desk staff are polite and prompt in answering the phone. Prices are reasonable as well. I strongly suggest visiting Nails Maxx for your mani/pedi/waxing needs! read more

I have been going to Nails Maxx regularly for manicures for over a year- and the occasional pedicure. The nail technicians are all meticulous about their work! If I have a small crack in a nail, they fix it. They always make sure I am please before I leave! I was really disappointed at my experience here today. Although it was easy to get an appointment, and it wasn't busy, I felt like I was really rushed and found the atmosphere to be anything BUT relaxing. It took about 20 minutes start to finish to do the pedicure and when it was finished the staff at desk was yelling across the salon for about 10 minutes that I was ready for my eye brow wax. The brow technician was the one redeeming aspect of the service- she was apologetic for the delay in her service and did a good job. I will not be returning any time soon1 read more

They burned my lip this week with some chemical. They told me it is "cooling gel". I have no idea what it actually is because I have had aloe gel on my lips before and I have never had this reaction. I literally went to the dermatologist the next day. I would post pictures but it is so embarrassing. The worst part is the lady asked me if I have sensitive skin, to which I responded yes. She proceeded to apply whatever gel without asking and now I am left with what appears to be a chemical burn. It continued to burn for four hours. I went back in and they gave me my money back, which is honestly the least they could have done. They should have offered a gift card or something because it looks terrible and it could scar. Do not get waxed here. read more

I usually go to Hollywood Nails on Newbury Street, but was looking for something closer to home. I was pleasantly surprised by Nail Maxx. I got a manicure and pedicure for $41, which is a bit high but not unreasonable. The pedicure took place in a separate little room, which was very relaxing and nice. She took her time doing the pedicure and I really felt pampered. The manicure happens in the larger room, but there is personal lighting and a large flatscreen to watch. My only complaints are that she cut my nails much shorter than I prefer, and that I was at the dryer station for quite awhile and finally just left because nobody came to check on me. All in all, I definitely recommend it and will be going back. read more

This place is great! I tried Nail Maxx out today for the first time and I will definitely go back. It is clean, professional and relaxing. I received one of the best pedicures I have ever gotten, they didn't rush and did a fantastic job including a nice leg and foot scrub AND a massage! While the prices were a bit higher than the average nail place ($28 for the lowest price pedicure), it was well worth it. An update: I have now been here quite a few times and each experience has been good as the first. I have also tried out the eyebrow waxing. Perfect, I have had my brows done there about 5 or 6 times and am always extremely pleased with the results. I would also like to add that the staff at Nail Maxx Co is alwyas friendly and professional. This place rocks. read more

So, I can't speak for how long this pedicure (polish) will last, because I'm still in the chair. But what's happening right now is so good, that I had to start writing. I've been loyal to my "regular place" for years, because they don't do acrylics there which is great because the smell really bothers me. But...it's snowing and I was desperate. Let me just say, it's worth a small headache from the smell. First of all, it's snowing and they are closing early. Second, it's valentines day. Third, I had no appointment. But a short wait (10 minutes) later I am getting the last appointment of the day, and I feel like a queen. I'm in a small, mostly private room, the chair is wonderfully comfy, and the massager actually works. Now, this girl had some work to do. I haven't had a pedicure in almost 2 months and my feet are a hot winter mess. So we start with the usual soak, polish removal, soak, cut nails... Then the trimming started. Every stray bit of skin and nail is gone! Followed by the most perfect pressure pumicing I have ever received. (Which is great because I am very ticklish!). And then...there was exfoliating. Good, gritty, sloughing off these dead winter skin cells from toes to knees. And then... She disappeared from the room and came back with two tiny baggies of hot stuff. Oil of some sort, I think. She put my heels in them, wrapped them over my feet and then poured oil on both shins and gave me a wonderful, lengthy leg massage. WOW. I'm drying now, and hoping like hell that the polish stays as long as I'm used to. Because I really, really want to come back! read more

eek. where do I begin!? Let's start with the only reason why I still go to this place is for the select few amazing, talented employees, and the location is super convenient for me. Most of the times I have been here the women are texting, or coming back from a coffee break and barely notice me standing there for 10 minutes. OH and don't forget to bring cash or else the owner will flip out at you for charging an eyebrow wax. They do a good job with eyebrow waxing, and mani/pedis if you're lucky enough to get a friendly person your experience will be pleasant, but honestly everybody that works here just looks super miserable, good luck! read more

Wow. Don't be fooled by the exterior of this building. It looks dull and forgetful. But inside is a lovely, spa-like space and the customer service is impeccable. Now, it's more expensive then your usual mani-pedi, but it's worth it for the soothing environment. I've been to all the nail salons on center st. And this is the one I consistently come back to. They have the most manicure chairs and manicurists so I've never had to wait long.
