Tiffany is amazing NEVER disappointed with my pedicures or my nails been coming here for over a year and half

Today, I went to get my nails done at Nails by Steven. Usually, there's a lot of people chatting and carries this homey vibe to it. However, there was no wait list. It was basically empty. So, they took me and my grandma instantly, so I will admit that their service with customers was good. However, as soon as I asked for these nails (picture 1), they said it was very hard to do, so it was going to be 55 dollars. I thought that was reasonable. When she got started, she did a pretty good job applying the acrylics. My issue was with the paint job. She applied the purple coats unevenly and left some parts unpainted (picture 2). When working on the nail design's for my ring fingers, she totally butchered them!!! The stars didn't look sharp at all. I had to ASK her if I could do it because I didn't want them to end up bad. I painted both pink stars on both of my hands (picture 3)-and mind you, I'm right handed and still managed to do a better job on both sides. Plus, I'm a 15 year old girl who has never done nails professionally; I've never had any training. The nail tech lady has had training and can't even do this design. She handed me her miniature brush and everything. She continued with the white parts, which were incredibly uneven and blobby (just like how the pink stars looked before I fixed them). I tried to be nice, but it was obvious that she was having a hard time doing them. Everything else was okay. When it was time to pay, I thought they might reduce the cost because I did some of the work (around 45-50 bucks) but they didn't. If I didn't get the design, it was going to be around 40-45 bucks. I would understand if the salon couldn't do a good job on the design bc my nails were small and it was just too hard for them, but my issue is that they said they could do exactly what was in picture 1. I've been going to get my nails done at their salon on and off for years, and they've always had an issue with evenly applying the base coats. This was the first time I asked them for a simple design +acrylics, and they could barely even provide that. I am incredibly unhappy with the paint job. I feel like the pink stars kind of saved the look, but I will NOT be coming back here ever again. read more

I came in for a pedicure with Nelly, she was very rude the whole service. Got upset when I told her I didn't want gel, and she kept telling me different prices than what I was told over the phone, for the exact same service. Not a great experience for being new in the area. read more

Do any salons around here actually do real manicures anymore? This is the 3rd place I've been to in town when asking for a manicure and gel set that they've completely neglected giving me an actual manicure. They didn't soak my nails before trimming , they never touched my cuticles, and no hand massage. I'm from Fresno and any place I've been to there, those are standard for a manicure. When I wanted a new set I was pressed for a fill, I had to be firm with my choice. After they drilled down the layer of gel, they ripped of my nail by sliding another nail underneath. It hurt! I pulled my hand away and asked what she was doing and that she ripped off half my nail and her response was you wanted a new set right. I asked about soaking off but she did not want to do that because it takes at least 1 hour. She said she can fill or do this. I should have left. But I stayed and proceeded to let her rip every nail off. It was so painful. I started sweating from the pain and my finger tips were throbbing with pain for a few hours after and tender the rest of the day. Why did I stay? Because last time I was here they did such a great job on my nails.. This time not so much, but these were different techs touching my nails. This time my nails were not natural looking, slightly bulky. There is the old green polish from my last set still on the edges of my nails. And some of the gel has bubbles. Two techs touched my nails. One put the new set on, the other reshaped the set and painted. I wanted ombré, but she didn't think it would look good with short nails, then I showered her a pic with nail art to see if she could do it, she said she can't do art. So I settled for solid colors. I do love the colors I picked though. I would have given 1 star but like I said last time my nails came out so great. The man up front did my set last time, a fill, and then a lady painted them and did cute daisies (I was told she was off on maternity leave this time). read more

Nails by Steven has great quality of service. They truly are a company that provides support if there is an issue. I've been coming to this nail salon for acrylics since 2022 and I usually get a nice woman named Nalee. She is very amazing. She puts in the work to ensure that your nails look just how you like them. She is tedious and pays great attention detail. With that, she is time efficient and ensures to get you in and out. She asked me about my plans coming up and we were able to chat. The vibe was calm and made me feel relaxed. I highly recommend Nails by Steven, and if you go, see if Nalee is working. read more

The service was super horrible I was looking for a new nail place since I just moved to Modesto with my in laws. Thought i would give it a try I sat down and waited there was no one in line. The lady said she will be right with me. Then two other girls walk in and sit down and the lady automatically takes the 2 girls in before me . He was like no no and I was like come on like you know what I'm saying and then finally, I get him to do it and then he has a problem with doing mine so I just said forget it I just thought it was Hella rude like you would think he would be more mindful. I've been here a few times. If you are looking for your nails to be done, see Steven or his wife. Both are very good. However, I went in yesterday looking for an acrylic overlay since my natural nails had gotten long enough. One nail did have a missing little piece on one side. I asked the lady (not the owners wife) doing my nails if she could use a form on that nail to build it, and it could be even. She refused and did what she wanted. I had several nails not completely filled in with any acrylic. I pointed out 2 of them and asked if she could maybe fix it ( it had a VERY noticeable ridge built up on the side) and added a little acrylic to fill it in on the ridge i was asking her to fix. She then proceeded to build up the exact spot I was asking her to blend in. When I tried showing her again where I meant, she did the ok ok thing and kept building back up that same ridge. None of the nails were the same thickness either. I wanted my nails to look natural since they are my natural nails. A few looked natural, but most looked like I had acrylic nails put on. I did file off the gel polish I paid for so that I could try to file down and fix the abnormalities. They're a little more blended but missing quite a few areas of acrylic as well as the additional money I paid for the gel polish. I went for a mani pedi and it was ok. The girl did a very good job and I was happy with the pedicure. The problem I had was the lack of AC. It's hot! The only circulation was the front door open. Even the fans were off. Would love to go back but I don't want to pass out just to have my feet done. read more

I've come here a couple times because it's so close to my house. I went today to get my nails done before my birthday and got acrylic overlay. The lady was really nice, however my nails didn't come out the way I hope. They were very thick and uneven. I expressed my concerns and the owner reached out to me and had Natalie fix my nails. They were very kind and she did a great job re-doing my nails! They were exactly what I wanted and such a good shape. I left feeling great about my experience! read more

AMAZING!!!!!!!! if you want long lasting nails go here... these literally stayed on me for a month and i took them off myself, they didn't even break. they looked great, shiny and pretty no matter what got on them, and their environment is clean and nice. theyre also really fast with nails too. love this place!!! would reccomend read more

I came in yesterday for a gel fill in and a nail fix. Helen took care of me. This was my first coming into this exact nail salon. I previously went to Vanessas Nail Spa and have been extremely disappointed in them. In 4 weeks I returned each week with a broken nail or paint job correction. That means in a month I spent about $150. One guy charged me $45 for a gel fill in on acrylics , I paid $50 including my tip for a FULL set from the same place, different person At Nails by Steven, I got a nail put on, a regular acrylic fill in, and gel polish for $40 Helen here at Nails by Steven, fixed each nail to perfection! She shaped them lovely. She was nice to talk too. She was interacting with my toddler. She was awesome! I truly love how she did my nails even if it was a very basic service needed. WOW ! That's how I want to start this. I went in for a pedicure (I didn't get my toes painted because I'm a nail tech myself and I'm very picky) but the service was amazing ! They spent over an hour on me. I paid $50 and I got a great massage that lasted a while. I also got paraffin wax, hot stones & a green tea scent for the water and lotion I believe. They also spent their time and cleaned up my cuticles and got rid of the calluses on my feet. But my goodness I will be back. My mom and I finally found our permanent pedicure spot ! I was in the area for the day, i checked on yelp for the best nail places in Modesto, this was the place that came up so here i went . Well i called at 4:30pm and I made an appointment for 5:00pm same day as i Called. Well I got there at 4:50pm. , i got a greeting by Steven, i picked out my color . Sat down waiting for about 20mins. Ok so it is 5:25pm. Still no help. kathy who did my manicure, came up to me and said you will have to wait another 20minutes. I have to change the nail polish from a client... This place is AMAZING!! I have been going to Steven for almost 3 years now and I couldn't be happier that he has his own place. It is SO neat and clean and really feels like a retreat when you're there. He does my nails exactly how I like them (shorter and almond shaped) every time and without fail they are perfect. They last much longer than other salons I have been to in the area and you never feel rushed like other salons. They all take their time and you leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. If I could I would give 0 Stars for one you can't be rude ass fuck and charge a lot for shitty service ! I got charged 50$ for a gel pedicure and got charged the extra even tho I brought in my OWN GEL BASE TOP Coat & gel color if I knew I woulda just waited and painted it at home then get charged an extra 15 to just put my own personal nail polish on their such a rip off better off going to nails by DAVID LEE they only charge 30$ including gel on pedicure !!!!
