Ok, so I called for an appointment here for pedicures for my daughter and myself, primarily based on the great Yelp reviews. Our experience was in June, but I'm just getting to posting the review. First let me start with the positive, Kim is indeed very lovely and did a fine job. Sorry, that's where it ends. I walked into the salon, which is in a pretty high end location, and was led to the back where the nail "salon" (and I use that termly very loosely) was located. I was shocked and probably should've just turned around at that point, but I thought I'd give the benefit of the doubt. From as aesthetic standpoint...so bad. The flooring looked like my garage floor, no lie, with ucky cement, cracked-you get the picture. There were four stations, I was seated with Kim and my daughter with some other person who was clearly late for a personal appt because she rushed the appt to be done in 30 min. We soaked our feet in plastic lined basins and tried not to end up on our butts on the floor from the rolling desk chairs we sat in. I checked the pricing on the salon website prior to our appt and let's just say there was a discrepancy. When I got to the desk, after the above experience, and was told our bill was $80 I almost lost it. The front desk gal said the pricing on the website was incorrect...no duh. So, I chocked it up as a "never again" experience, but wanted to warn any future clients. read more

I bounced around for years getting french manicures and gel manicures here and there (especially when I found a deal). I saw Kim's gel manicure deal on Living Social in Spring 2011, and since redeeming it I no longer bounce around ... I see Kim on an exclusive regular basis for my gel manicures - she's terrific! As others have said, she is very professional and also very caring - she really wants you to be pleased with her service. And I always have been pleased. She is very sweet and accomodating (often doing a quick polish for my pre-teen daughter). She never seems to be in a rush and obviously knows how to schedule her clients! I frequently get french gel manicures, and I have never had a better french than from Kim! When needed, Kim helps me "save" a cracked nail with silk or gel fill, and never "nickel and dimes" me for extra services. She has her own station in a hair salon in a lovely shopping area of Newport Beach, and her area is always clean and comfortable. I drive about 15 miles (one way) for my twice monthly appointments with Kim - and I wouldn't think of not doing so! She's just terrific! read more

Nails by Kim has a ton of 5 Stars and great reviews so I decided to check her out. I made an appointment and went the next day. When I called to make my appointment she said she could do what I wanted but when I got there she said couldn't do what I wanted because she only does "basic" mani/pedis and doesn't do the acrylic or gel I wanted. I was really disappointed and felt like I wasted my time. I had to be somewhere in 2 hours and didn't have my nails done. I hate giving bad reviews but I don't want someone to be put in a bad spot like I was. read more

Kim gives the best manicure and pedicure in Newport!!! Every component is first rate. She uses top of the line products including a full range of new Chanel polishes. She doesn't over cut cuticles ---- her nail prep makes the polish last much longer than most. Kim is a phenominal manicurist. I moved to So CA a year ago and went in search of a new manicurist. I was disappointed as I tried many of them in the nail shops around Newport Beach. I got on Yelp and she had the best reviews. I am very picky about how my nails are filed and shaped. Not everyone does a good job with silk nails. She does a great job! They always look fabulous and I get compliments on my nails all the time. I had her do a pedicure once - now I'm hooked! They are fabulous and last a month. You will feel very pampered.
