My pedicure with an acrylic fill and French tip was pure perfection! The painting was flawless and the massage left my feet feeling brand new. (Feet finder ready! lol jk) The salon was spotless and the customer service was amazing friendly, professional, and attentive from start to finish. My boyfriend got a pedicure too and loved the deep clean and precise nail trimming. Overall it was a five-star experience: clean, relaxing, and beautifully done. I'll definitely be coming back! Actually we'll be coming back. Also keep in mind that parking is a little difficult given that it is located on a main street so give yourself extra time. read more

Came back for a gel removal and regular lacquer manicure. The tech has amazing nails which she does herself, so I know I was in good hands. She did a great job, very thorough and precise. The staff followed up about my pedicure experience last time, which I really appreciated. This shop clearly wants to build a loyal and happy client base. Came here for the first time today as a walk-in for a gel manicure/pedicure! I've never had such precision service as I have received here today. I was offered refreshments and a complete price list up front for services to choose from. Bee was very thoughtful and took her time with my pedicure as it had been a while... and my manicure was on point as well! Overall I would highly recommend this salon as it's clean, staff are very attentive, prices are comparable to other places but the service makes this place stand out! Ambiance is 5 stars! Louie's pedicure 5 stars. So glad I tried this place. It is located on a block with other nail shops. So I assume competition is fierce. The owner "Kelly" was quick to answer all my questions via text. She was welcoming & friendly. However appeared nervous and she kept talking to Louie & making him nervous. Not sure if she was rushing him or what. Which felt uncomfortable. She did it often in my 60 minutes. Then while he was painting my toenails she rushed over & reached under my legs by an inch or so to pull plastic tub cover out from the bowl. Hello! My toes are getting painted... And the kicker was no customer came in after that. So it wasn't necessary. She didn't need my chair. That's the reason I gave 4 stars. I do feel bad; she got her incense holder, incense, offerings & platter stolen & broken while I was getting my feet done. Which probably put her on edge. I think her shop is the busiest because she cares so much. I really like my pedicure from Louie! read more

I was in dire need of a last-minute nail appointment for New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. I messaged the shop on Yelp the evening of 12/30 and was promptly responded to by Kelly who was able to squeeze me in on New Year's Eve morning. While on the phone, Kelly was very informative about the parking situation and what types of payment they take (cash, card, Zelle, Venmo). She was a very appreciative of my business and look forward to seeing me the next day. Upon arrival I was nicely greeted and sat promptly asking what I would like to drink, which was so nice. The nail tech I happen to get was VY, which I had heard great things about so I was very excited. I showed some inspo photos to VY and she began her work. As she was doing her work she was walking me through her steps and reassuring what her process was and always making sure that I was satisfied with the shape and nail color. When it came to doing the flowers on my nails she suggested adding little vines so it wouldn't look so bare and I agreed so she added them on. She was not pushy at all, if anything she mentioned that if I ultimately did not like it, we can easily remove it and keep my nails as is. I really loved her suggestion and kept it. She was very easy-going. VY was also very efficient and fast with her work, but not rushing at all, again she took her time and always made sure that I was satisfied with my nails. My appointment was at 10:45am, I got seated promptly and I was out by 11:40am. As I was checking out, there was another customer in front of me who was about to leave, and Kelly asked her where she had parked. Kelly offered to walk her to her car with an umbrella since it was drizzling outside. Although the customer politely declined, Kelly was adamant that she walk her to her car so that she wouldn't get wet. That customer, myself, and even a customer who was getting their pedicure were in awe of the service Kelly was giving! Not only that, but I had mentioned about some unfortunate family situation of mine and Kelly was so sweet to give her condolences and give a hug as well, lol! Overall, my manicure experience was fantastic and the customer service was impeccable. I did not get a pedicure, but I would assume it's just as good. I definitely will be coming back to this spot. I do want to mention that this shop is on the main San Pablo Rd. so as others have mentioned, please give yourself enough time to find parking. read more

Special thanks to Kelly and Jimmy for their outstanding customer service and care. They opened their solan an hour early in a Sunday morning to accommodate for my nail appointment since I had a flight to catch and was on a time crunch. I've been getting my nails done by Vy for 6 months now. She is meticulous and I always leave with a perfect manicure. I had such a great experience today during my first visit to Nails by Ken. everyone was very nice and my nail technician, Vy, was amazing! I was not happy with the last several services I had at another salon, and Vy really took the time to listen and consult with me. she remedied the problems and I love my new Gel x set! as long as it lasts well, which I think it will, I will be a new regular with Vy! I had such a great experience at Nails by Ken. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming. The owner, Madame Kelly, clearly has genuine relationships with her customers -- I watched her greet people like old friends, and the whole salon celebrated when one customer shared a positive health update. It really showed how much they care about their clients. Cindy did my nails and did an amazing job. I came in needing a fill on my builder gel nails and one broken nail fixed, and she completely elevated the entire set. The shape is perfect, my cuticles look so clean, and the overall manicure is super polished and healthy-looking. I love a simple, clean set and she absolutely nailed it. The customer service was also top tier. They offered me apple juice in a champagne glass when I arrived, which was such a thoughtful touch. Before I left, Madame Kelly also did my eyebrows and somehow brought them back to life -- they look so much better. Everything was done with care and attention to detail. Updating my review as my dip manicure did not hold up well. On day 2 it began chipping and cracking. Kind of disappointed, but oh well. I am not rough with my hands, and had previously had dip on my nails that had lasted 2+ weeks with no wear/tear, so I'm pretty sure it was not due to my activities. Imagine not being able to get life-saving medication because your pharmacy is ignoring calls and canceling medication orders with no explanation. I'm done with this place.

Tips for if you've never shopped at a refillery: they have scales so you can weigh the container (either that you buy from them or bring in your own empty or not empty), stick a piece of tape to container and wright the weight (before you fill their products). This way, when they weigh the container at checkout, they will subtract the weight you wrote down so you only pay what you filled there. If you are at their spice and powdered items, they have clean scoops you can use and make sure to place them in the used spot after use. Below the scale next to that spices and powdered area, there are rags you can use to clean up your container or counter if you spilled anything. There are actually 3 scales around the stores. And they have a rewards program where you can get a card that the cashier can mark every time you make a purchase.

I have been a client at Nails By Ken for a while now. It broke my heart to make the decision to remove my nails. We are having our house renovated/remodeled so we had to move out to. I broke a few nails during our move and my nail technician actually advise me to remove my nails until we were done with moving. I was surprised because this is how she earned her bread and butter, yet at the same time I gained a greater respect for her to know that she wasn't all about the money, but actually cared about me! I cannot say enough about the professionalism, artistic nature the technicians have and the warmth that I feel when I enter this salon. How nice everyone treats you and the friendliness of all the technicians whether they are attending to you or not - the genuine warmth is enticing and addictive. I will be getting my nails back and I will be a client for life. If I could give Nails By Ken 10 stars I would! The owner, Kelly is amazing, and the technicians are all just awesome! I will miss my nail appointments and the friendship that I developed with the owner - Kelly, Lady V (as in VERY Artistic and the Greatest) and Ms. B (as in the best) and the one who first welcomed me to the salon, and showed me such warmth that I knew I would be back, and along with so many of the other technicians. I've been a long-time client of Tony's, so of course when he made the move from Vallejo to El Cerrito, I followed! I've always loved his work -- Tony does exceptional pedicures and nails, and he's truly someone I trust with my sets. On this particular visit, Tony explained that he wasn't able to do the design I wanted that day, but V happily stepped in and offered to do both my nails AND toes after Tony prepped me. And let me tell you... V HOOKED ME UP! Not only did my set come out sooo beautiful, but V also introduced me to glass nail polish, and I am officially HOOKED! The finish was gorgeous, and the longevity has been incredible. My nails have lasted OVER A MONTH! At this point, I'm literally forcefully trying to remove them because the length + all the growth has started to hurt a little when one happens to break -- but honestly, that's not unique to this set. If my nails weren't this long, I'm pretty sure I could have comfortably gotten well over a month out of them. Needless to say, this set was WELL worth it. Nails By Ken is my to-go-nail-salon after trying many local nail salons. This place is super clean and the atmosphere is so peaceful. I feel very relaxing and pampering every time I come to get my nails and my toes done. Kelly and her whole staff are very nice, friendly people. They all have good skill and talented nail technicians. They always do good jobs on my nails and toes. They always make sure my nails and toes look completely perfect before I leave. They also offer a long list of free drink menu like wine, champagne, mimosa, apple cider, orange juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks, hot drinks for everyone. My go to!!! I'm here for the summer from college in Atlanta and I can honestly say that the quality of service, the ambiance, and the accessibility is everything. The people are always so kind but MOST importantly, the work speaks for itself. The shape of my nails have never been more precise whether I get stiletto/ square and they make sure the edges are sharp when I ask. She applied tips but didn't follow the natural curve of my nail--a few of them curved up quite noticeably, which can cause separation between the real nail and the false nail. As for today, I came in with the inspiration picture included below--sort of a muted pink/neutral French mani with chrome or some sort of high gloss finish. I showed the tech, and she said she's got it. Well, she looks at my toes and asks if she should use those same colors (French with stark white tips and a chrome finish). I say the main color is good for the fingernails, but the tip should be more pink. She nods like she understands. She starts painting my nails and goes in with the same white polish. I figure I should trust the process, but I ask if she's planning to go over the white with something pink. She says no. I'm confused, but I decide it isn't the end of the world if my tips are white. I notice the white tip on my thumb isn't symmetrical. I try to be straightforward and ask for "more white" on the left side. She looks at the nails side by side and brings out a file to adjust the shape. I think maybe she just couldn't understand me very well. She's about to finish it them off with the same silvery chrome I have on my toes, and I make one last attempt to get something close to the picture. I ask if they have a light pink instead. She runs off, comes back, and does a test nail. It looks a bit pinker, so I say we can use it on the rest. By the time I see them all done, I realize it has a pink-GREEN duo chrome shift. Kind of fun, would be good for a Wicked themed set, but sooooo not what I wanted and not what I asked for. I didn't feel like I could say anything because the tech was already rushing off to complete a waxing service. They were busy and I think my appointment put them a bit behind. Another manicurist I'd worked with previously comes over to take a look, and I think she could tell I wasn't happy. She says I should request her next time. She's always done a great job, so I think I'll have to stick with her from now on. Shout-out to Lee! Or maybe it's Lilo, I'm not 100% sure. I used to feel like I could count on this place to always deliver, but now it seems like you have to stick with your regular artists or risk getting a disappointing result. I wish I could turn back time and request dip powder nails from Lilo on the day of my engagement :( it still bugs me that I had such a manicure fail on the one day I really wanted my nails to look their best. Oh well.

In fact, this was my first eyebrow threading experience and I was more than pleased. It's located in the first floor of one of the big apartment buildings on San Pablo - it's a small kiosk type shop with a number of other beauty service related operations. Even though it is on SP, parking was really easy to find - I just parked around the corner on a side street less than a block away. Shanti was absolutely amazing! Her vibe is super chill and laid back and she has the precision of a surgeon. I couldn't believe how clean and perfect my brows were when she finished. As a first time threading recipient, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the pain is quite minimal. If you have any experience with tweezing and/or waxing, you'll be just fine. Shanti is really great making you feel comfortable. She holds great conversation and is really friendly. I would go back and make sure that I book with her specifically in the future just to hang with her again while she brings my brows back to life. I get my brows laminated every few months, and I like them to be really precise and combed and gel upwards and bushy. She took every stray hair out, evened them out and trimmed them where needed. All in about 15 minutes! Definitely don't sleep on this cozy little shop and get pampered at a great price with a professional with a ton of experience who makes it look really easy!

She kept my natural shape but cleaned it up perfectly to frame my face. The process was super quick--less than 15 minutes--and much less painful than other places I've been. We started talking about dogs and how I just put my older guy down, I started to cry and she asked if she could give me a hug, I said of course and that act of kindness made it all better! The studio was clean, professional, and the price was very reasonable for the quality. I'll definitely be coming back!
