Appointments not honored, you can wait an hour or more even if you have an appointment. I made appointments with a certain nail tech and I'm always changed to someone else when I arrive. Prices jumped almost 100% a few years ago. I moved onto Sunny Nails..

This is gel polish as well so an extra charge .

Went in there and got a pedicure the paint that the girl was using looked dry and I stated I didn't like the color because it looked like it was barley showing up and she told me she just needed to add more coats it still Looked horrible and not even all my toes were painted fully . Very disappointing to not get a good paint job when you pay 63$ for a pedicure.

$124 total. Pics are from same day of appointment (today). Asked for refund of just the acrylic set (even though the "flowers" on my daughters nails were so bad). Told no refund. I did ask the tech to fix the acrylic as it was not covering my whole nail. He refused. I didn't want to argue in front of my daughter, so I paid and left.... and called a bit later. After sending photos, I was told I could get our nails re done but they will not refund me. Why would I get my nails re done after someone refused to fix an issue when I asked? On top of that, took advantage of doing a child's nails and completely half assed a service I paid full price for.

Okay peeps let's see who is in the chopping block this time. Yesss queens it's Nails by Design in Salem Oregon. Let's start off with how the front of the store looks like. Yes neat and clean just how we love it. Entering this establishment you are greeted by the receptionist and asked if you have an appointment? This place is giving that high end vibes!!! Which we are all up for. This place has lots of space with so many pedicure seats and lots of manicure seating areas. Also you are wowed by all the coolers they offer for your nails. Well today I decided I needed a fill for my nails and wanted to get design too on them. I called ahead to book and appointment which was amazing because I did not have to wait for a person to do my nails. So I got seated within 5 min of me arriving there which was amazing. The manicurist asked what I had on my nails if it was acrylic or powder? Which I did tell her acrylic she said okay and continued to remove the old nail polish I had. When I said these lady's knew what they were doing I'm not joking. Usually by this time I'm bleeding from my cuticle since other manicurist usually over file my nail and usually file my skin too so I was happy that she did not hurt me while prepping my nails. Then another manicurist told me to go sit at her desk since she was the one that will be finishing off the nails. Before this tho the owner of the establishment was actually there which to be honest I have never seen that. But to be honest this guy was on his A game which kudos to him. He actually asked us what we wanted to drink and the drinks were complimentary which now hearing this made this experience 10000% much more better. I decided to go with just a water since I did not know what kind of drinks we could choose from. Anyways I thought we would get the drinks in a small water bottle like all the other salons but no! They took it up a notch and gave a tall glass cup with ice and water which was amazing. So for my nails I decided to choose a purple color and the design was a butterfly on my fingers which honestly it came out amazing. Again all this was done without hurting me or getting distracted on a phone call. This to be honest was the best experience I have ever had in a nail salon. Now the moment we have all waited for is this establishment dendinger approved???? Drum roll please YESSSS QUEENS THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS DENDINGER APPROVED WE WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE. Also the salon had multiple drinks to choose from so don't hold back for those that want to have the full luxury experience that no other establishment does. Now this is what you call a self care day for you!!! Thank you to the lady that worked in my nails I believe her name was Laney not sure if that's how that is spelled so I do apologize for that. But she is a must go to manicurist if you guys want to hit her up.

I have had my nails done here for over a year. Sunny did my nails today and they look fabulous! Sunny is always professional and an absolute joy! He always has a warm greeting for me. He has over 30 years of experience. I have had several other people do my nails at this salon and all of them have done a great job. They always fit me in, even at the last minute. They serve a complimentary drink while your nails are being done - I get the white wine or Tai tea. My dipping nails last almost 4 weeks, so it makes it easy on my monthly budget. I have a torn toe nail they are able to use gel to make it look like a normal toe nail and then add polish, this will last me 4 to 6 months and allows me to wear open toe shoes.

do not get your nails done here!! my partner and i booked to get our nails done at the same time, and we were seated at one table and had to take turns. no big deal, maybe they overbooked, it sucked but oh well. my nail lady cut my finger while filing and drew blood, and then proceeded to use the same nail file on my partner?! huge health code violation. lastly, we were overcharged almost $50 total, and their explanation was that it was due to the "length and shape" of our nails. we got short/medium almond nails. this was the last straw, they only offered $10 off on our next appointment which we will not be booking! their explanation for the overcharge was laughable and shady. we completely would have accepted a reasonable explanation but this made no sense and seemed we were overcharged for nothing.

5 days later from appointment, 3 are gone

I went to get my nails done in may 15th for a concert I had the next day, i got an estimate of eighty five dollars, and ended up paying one twenty eight, i brought in my own charms, i didn't get seated for over a 1 hour. When everybody else was helped before me even after they walked in the door later than me, not complaining but poor service, on top of that, nobody else had to move their chair.Yet I had to move out of mine, i didn't get offered a drink until halfway through my appointment, the second person to work on my nails did a horrible job putting an even level on my nails, it was a simple, black cat eye, nothing to it. Yet could not be achieved, when she went to file my nails, she also cut two of my fingers which caused me pain for 3 days after my appointment, this was my second time ever going to get my nails done, rest assur i'm sticking to glueons for the rest of my life!!!! This was horrible the way I was treated as a first time customer. This is the second site i have found to make a complaint and or review of the place, the fact I haven't heard anything yet.From the business speaks volumes about their appreciation and respect towards their customers!!!!

Alright lets go with this review because it was crazy to experience this. My boyfriend called to make the appointment for me for my birthday. One, I told the guy going in, im not used to this idk how this goes hence my guy setting it up. He ignored what i said and just said go pick a color off the wall and sit . I pick one, sit and then 5 secs goes oh your water is running right there Points, blindly I HAVE NOT BEEN HERE . Idk where ?! I walk to where i can clearly see they do pedi's and see the running water. Sit and then they hand a menu telling me what to get off the menu. Note my boyfriend already told them what i would get and they got his card info. Saying he paid. I asked for the classic confused like this one i guess? I felt really rushed and felt like i show know what to do. It was embarrassing and felt very much like i couldn't bring my daughters for my first time on their own. I had no idea you could order more than one drink. I didn't know they charged for the box of tools i wasn't told how much. It was 83$ My cuticles werent pushed but for the nails and my ingrowns werent cut. The color and treatment was nice but damn can someone COMMUNICATE?!! Let it be easier for beginners. I usually have my pedi by a friend. And then to top it off when down they said okay your done have a good day. I start walking out slow cause i wasn't sure it was fully paid as i picked something from the menu. And noone said anything to me. I was out side getting my kid in the car and go HEY YOU NEED TO PAY! I go is it not paid? They said no and my mans went in to pay and told me how much. Either way disappointed. No communication. Tell me about the experience ask if ive been in before!! Not every salon is the same!

The prices are $25+ more than our salon in Portland AND they charge an extra $7 for the kit. The person doing my Mom's toes and nails cut her toe with the clippers. Unfortunately, we won't be back. The manager came out to tell me it's the OR state law. It isn't a law to charge for the kit. We won't be back.

I'm new to Oregon and decided to make this my regular nail salon,I have already spent a few hundreds with this business. I left today very upset and unsatisfied. The nail tech who did my nails today proceeded to have conversations about me being unhappy with her work with her coworker. I am a black woman that speaks 5 Languages! Very disrespectful and unprofessional. I still paid $53 for unfinished work. I refused to receive services for someone who got upset for me asking for my nails to be shaped uniformly!

Order: Mani w/ Design & Pedi Pros: the pedi was okay and I was able to be seen right away as a walk in. I was expecting to schedule an appointment. I did get a free margarita which was great. The place was clean Cons: Everything went south with the manicure. I dont get manicures so Im not familiar with everything. That said, I told the lady I did NOT want gel. I just wanted polish and design. I thought I was getting the mani/pedi combo for the 70ish dollars that is on the back of the menu. Well she says something and I was like okay. I couldnt really understand her due to her accent but I thought she understood my request. Welllllll, she gets to designing snd doing my hands. They said she was the best to do the design. I even showed her a picture of what I wanted. Well what I wanted turned out to be something messy and costly. After she worked on my hands for an hour and put it under the blue light We were done. I looked at my hands and said this isnt good. She stated this what you ordered. I was flabbergasted. I went to the register and showed him my hands and he just brushed me off and still charged me. Not for $70 but for $118! $118 freakin dollars for my hands. I asked him why so much when it was suppose to be 70ish dollars he said you got gel. I said, I didnt ask for gel. He responded that I should have gotten clarity. I could have got them to do it over but then it would have been a wait. I left and got them redone in Atlanta. I feel like they took advantage of the fact that I was male and didnt know what the hell a gel was. But I paid and learned a lesson.

I came here with my sister and niece the day before mother's day (with appointments) First we were greated to every chair full with still a 15 min wait. That wasn't a big deal, but let's paint a picture from beginning to end. They did have a good variety of paint colors though. (Probably the only thing I truly liked about this place) My sister and niece had two ladies and I had an older man who's names I don't remember. I specifically asked the man more than anything, I really want a good cleaning underneath my toe nails and cuticle care. If that meant cutting into "massage"time, totally fine. I did not receive any cuticle softening treatment. I did not get any scraping under the nail other than a super soft and non effective wipe of the big toenail. He confusingly filed my toe nails to all different lengths and had to ask for correction, as did my sister. There was a piece of nail that must have chipped out of the corner of my big toe and he wasn't even going to cut the corners to form a straight clean nail line until I asked him. I told him about a big cut high up my calf I had from shaving my right leg, asking him not to touch it, but those wishes were also disregarded. The massage was just a normal rubbing on of lotion with no added strength. Yes, I said it was okay to forfeit the massage part if it meant good nail cleaning, but that didn't actually happen. My hot wax that you pay almost $10 extra for was not hot by the time he got it on my feet and only(barely) covered the sole of my feet. That part was really disappointing as the heat of the wax is my fav part. Then came the polish. He did a great job at applying it. I was happy with the coverage and cleanliness around my cuticles with it. I sat after it was done for 15 minutes. They also tried to charge us $32 or $33 for a childs pedicure with regular polish at first and it took us explaining in detail this wasn't correct before they would finally fix it. I paid and went to my car to meet my sister where once she walked outside she could see her polish was see through in multiple spots but didn't want to spend more time while they were busy to go back and have it fixed. Finally after getting home, eating and sitting down on the floor with my children, my kid touched my polish over an hour later and I saw blue on her finger. This is when I took a video and touched the other toes only to realize the paint was just wiping right off. It wasn't "tacky", just straight up came right off. NOW, I've never taken to social media to leave a bad review but this is not their first offense. This is now the second time this has happened to me. The first time I went back, pleasant, agreeable to correction and didn't make any big deal about it.. But for this to happen AGAIN? not only to me, but to my sister as well just less severely...I can't be the only one who's gone through this with them!? What are the odds. I reached out asking this time for a refund as this is the second time a major issue occured. I left with a crappy nail treatment, massage and non curing paint job and they refuse to refund me. Only offered an unspecified discount for future visits as if I'd really go back again. I tried giving them a second chance, allowing them to redeem themselves, and I was met with poor customer service and greed on their end. Perhaps this is why they offer free alcoholic beverages that customers rave about- lowers their standards I guess ‍ Posting the receipts read more

Don't waste your time making a reservation. Had a reservation June 30, 4pm, 2 pedicures. We arrived and were told it would be 15 minutes after 15 minutes I approached the desk and our chairs were ready. However, there was no one to perform the pedicure. People ahead of me walked out and they had waited 40 minutes. In looking at all the chairs that were full, approximately 4 to 5 people were sitting without being worked on. Not sure what the point of reservations are if they don't honor them. Place was chaotic. My advice, stay away. read more

Booked an appointment for 2 manis for 1pm. At 1:45p one of us was taken to a table. The salon was overbooked. Receptionist was also the bar tender. Running around trying to make everyone happy. But let's be honest if you are overbooked don't book any more appointments. Don't make customers wait 45 minutes to an hour past the schedule time. read more

As a preemptive luxury before my friend's wedding, a couple of us bridesmaids and the bride booked appointments here to get our nails done. Their service was outstanding- offering us complimentary drinks and seats as soon as we walked inside. Leena was my nail tech and did a FANTASTIC job as you can see in the picture attached. She was very patient as I took my time to pick a design and colors. The entire staff was very friendly and kind. I will be back! read more

They offered services that they couldn't fulfill. The first time here there were HOURS behind. This time they quickly got me into the chair, however, the ONE individual who "could" make the beverages offered per the salon, was doing someone else's nails and wasn't' available to get drinks for the rest of the customers. Pedicure was exceptional. It was not those staff that disappointed. It's the company itself over advertising and under performing. Please don't offer services that you cannot fulfill. When offered, it becomes an expectation and you now are failing your customers. read more

I took a chance by walking in without an appointment and they were able to take me immediately. I loved that Kha started right away. You know how sometimes as a walk in they leave you soaking while they finish up with another client? Not here, I was in a chair and had my technicians full attention. She didn't rush and did a beautiful job. This business is clean and beautiful and the massage chairs are the best. This will be my new place for pedicures. Thank you Chris & Kha!! read more

I was scheduled at 5:15 for a waxing appointment with Sunny. I waited in the lobby for an hour and 10 minutes and still wasn't seen. The receptionist didn't offer any drinks during that entire hour plus wait. I wish they would have just told me they didn't have the time instead of wasting mine. read more

I highly recommend Nails by Design. Beautiful space, clean and well-loved, and an impressively long complementary drink list (including clearly a fan favorite Vietnamese coffee). It's like a mini vacation. My former nail salon closed, so I went to Sunny for a fill and showed him a photo of the design I wanted. He did a wonderful job and I am overall impressed with the whole experience, beginning to end. read more

I had an appointment with Leynie for noon. Person at counter said hello but didn't look up from computer for several minutes. Then seated me to wait for another 10 while Leynie finished up with another client. Leynie then moved me to his station, had me pick a color and set me to soak off my existing dip. He then went to do a pedicure. 45 minutes later he showed up to complete my manicure. All said and done I was in the salon for 2 hours and 10 minutes for a DIP manicure that is less than favorable, with a one week grow out look in less than a day and lots of missed edges. I loved the salon arrangement and style, i loved the product display and options, i think they are capable, but I got suckerpunched on this one. found my new favorite nail place! did someone say tea? at Nails by Design they offer a variety of refreshing drinks to choose from complimentary with your service, I had peppermint tea of course. Followed by a splash of gossiping about my love life with my nail tech! the whole time I was in there they were all so friendly and made the experience a blast. I heard nothing but praises sung about the other staff as well from other clients and judging by the vibes, I believe them! I brought in a very particular photo for reference and Emily took her time and made sure they were done the way I wanted them! The location is beautiful and the staff were very nice but I won't be back. I got a gel mani and regular pedi and the end results were not great. The manicure has bumps in it, I assume where parts dried before she went in to smooth them. I've never had that occur before. The pedicure experience and end result weren't worth the price. After a pedicure, my toes usually look fantastic for weeks, but by day two it looked like I needed another one. read more

I wanted to love this place. I've been there twice since I have a few friends that go there and really like it. Wait is long and it seems like they try to push as many people through their shop at possible so quality work just isn't possible. Clippers were also pulled from the drawer, used on me, then returned to the drawer without cleaning, and didn't look clean. First visit I asked for dip nails and acrylic nails were just done without asking and when finished were messy with streaks of polish. Then I was cut five times during the process. I also got a pedicure. Pedicure was fine except it was forgotten to put hot wax on my feet until after my nails were painted and then not wiped off completely at the end. I still had wax on my feet when I left. Appointments were extremely long with lots of time just sitting. After speaking with another friend who suggested I try it again but book with certain nail technicians who she recommended. I booked via the Vagaro app choosing specific technicians. When I arrive, 10 minutes early for my appointment, they are extremely busy. I'm put with someone who I assume is the person I had an appointment with, since I don't know names yet. But it is not. I booked an appointment for dip nails on my natural nail. I picked a nail color once sitting and showed the technician what I wanted. I asked if I could actually have the almond tip shape. The technician said she would have to add tips which I agreed to. Tips were added but then cut super short without asking my approval for length. She cut the tips barely longer than my natural nail which is very short. She then put the dip powder on my nail which was not the correct color. The powder looked like it could possibly be right so I wasn't sure it was wrong until she painted the clear polish on at the end. I did not want to start the process over by mentioning it. I asked for a black color with blue sparkles and ended up with purple no sparkles. The filing took extremely long for some reason and I was cut. I ended up with short little egg shaped purple nails. Smooth and shiny though. Then I also had booked a pedicure appointment. I switched it to a color change only once a technician finally came over, because I'd been there so long and sat waiting in the pedicure chair for a while and needed to leave. I did not have a single technician I requested. I asked when paying why I didn't work with who I requested and was told they were just trying to move people through and that I hadn't requested certain people.. which I then showed them I had on the app. Then was told they didn't know what happened and that I should come in the mornings when they aren't as busy. Quality of work should be the same throughout the day I feel. I won't be back unfortunately. They have the makings of a great shop. The drinks are a fun option. Staff is friendly for the most part. read more

OK! I know a great mani/pedi! This place is ABSOLUTELY amazing! Sooo clean and great staff, lovely beverage of your choice! Incredible selection of products. Talented and experienced technicians. Treat yourself! Treat a friend or relative! What a gift this was to me and you can bet I am passing it on! Right next to Jimmy John's on Commercial! I absolutely love this place! South Salem was in need of a great pedicure/nail spot! Anna is the best nail tech I've been able to find since my other nail tech moved out of state. She's amazing and I'm so happy to have found her. Very welcoming and friendly staff! Got a $10 off for my birthday and you have so many visits any you get another $10 off a visit! They serve drinks during your visit too with so many to choose from. I highly recommend this place! Thank you to Chris & Sunny for bringing such an amazing service to South Salem! read more

Sunny did my nails for my wedding, he did a great job! The salon is very clean and I would consider it high end, they even offer you a complimentary drink (I had a mimosa) while you have your nails done. Definitely would recommend and I will be back! read more

This is our go-to nail spot. They were really just due to Mother's Day weekend so our appt was delayed a bit but they sat us down and brought us drinks and checked up on us. The service is always spot on and they have a fantastic selection of drinks. read more

This was my "go to" salon. Not anymore...my appointments are not honored. Always a long wait for a requested technician. It appears they are trying to get as many customers through the door. I had booked a manicure and pedicure. After finishing my manicure, 2 1/2 hours later there was not an empty chair for a pedicure and six people waiting for pedicures. I paid and walked out. Since then I understand my preferred technician, Anna, has left. Not sure I'll be back. read more

Worst pedicure ever! These guys don't shape your nails cut them etc.. it took 5 people no joke to straighten the nail on the big toe I have never seen such a mess it was as if they had never done a pedicure ever ... still charges me 53.00 !!! Typically after a pedicure your heels are soft nope- really they charged me way to much money to change my polish, I could have done that at home and better my polish is even bumpy and looks awful . I would never recommend.... If you want a good pedi go to queen nails !!! read more

Yikes! Don't be tempted by the ease of getting an appt, and find another business to give your $$$ to. Pedi techs are good and work their buts off. Nail Techs are ok, good ones leave. Mgt is a whole other story. Never went without an appt, pedi or mani. Had some very bad dips lately-3rd that was chipping and breaking today. Went in asked for soak off, asked to pay the $10 fee ...said no and got yelled at for 2 minutes while the full salon watched. Feel sorry for the employees. read more

Booked an appt at 12:15 today with Sunny. Arrived and the place was packed and we were told they were running a little behind. A little ended up being an hour and 20 minutes. I did not get Sunny, I got Tom and my sister got Linda. We were not offered any drinks while all the people around us were receiving and offered drinks. We ordered Volcano pedicures which are $88.00, plus they brought out the boxed nail kit which was $7.00. No mention of the additional price for that, when you can get the bagged much cheaper. We had no option. My appointment felt rushed. He kept slapping my foot around and pointing instead of telling me or moving my foot nicely where he wanted it. Not relaxing. He literally scowled when he looked at a callus on my foot and made a sound of disgust. I was very embarrassed as the place was jam packed. I received a 5ish minute leg massage and was quickly moved onto the leg mask. Meanwhile, Linda is performing a very nice and long leg and foot massage for my sister. Hers started before mine and ended well after mine was over. I didn't get any foot rub. I paid for the extended service and felt duped. I have to get a sitter for my son and my hour and a half appt turned into 3. Not happy. Overall, the time spent and quality was not up to standard. Linda, however, was a 5 star. read more

I've been to this salon twice. The first time I was so happy to find a clean, nearby nail salon. Despite having an appointment, I had to wait 20 minutes. My nails were filed unevenly and the gel started chipping the next day. I hoped it was a fluke, so I went back a few weeks later. Again, I had to wait 20 minutes (despite having an appointment). The very next day I knew my manicure was terrible but I was on my way to vacation but there was nothing I could do. It's been a week and a half, and all the gel has chipped off. Both times, the edges just weren't clean to begin with and my nails beds were pushed back too far so my nails looked like they had grown out the next day. It's a very clean salon and they serve drinks and my nail techs have been so nice but I won't be back to pay $48 for a gel manicure that lasts less than 10 days. read more

First of all, having Christopher up front greeting clients, offering refreshments, asking how you are.... It's such a lovely touch. It's nice that the nail artists don't have to be answering the phone. Christopher is the first lovely thing about this establishment. Then you have the clean and relaxing salon itself. I have had only amazing experiences each time I've visited. Wendy gives a killer foot massage and does a great pedicure. Strong hands. Lainey is the most thoughtful nail artist, she is very intuitive and knows her client and what they like and want. Tami is an amazing soul who will make you laugh and gives a good pedicure! I never know what to do with my nails when I sit down, but Sunny always helps me decide and always delivers with his ideas. My favorite pedicure technician, Miss Tami !!!!! I will follow this lady anywhere. She is very professional on her care of your nails, with special trimming to avoid foot and nail problems in the future, and her loving touch in massage is masterful. Today marks my fourth time coming in. I'm a black woman in a different state. I was told this state doesn't like my kind. Well at this shop out of many. I feel that I get my respect. Plus, her air bnb side hustle seemed more important to her than actually working on my nails. I tried to justify the work she did for all the attitude. (Like I don't mind that you're rude to me if your work is top notch) but then the nails started to fall off. Don't go, don't waste your money.

I don't say this lightly - I've had my nails done at dozens of salons all over the US because I travel very frequently. I compare my finished nails at other salons and am constantly disappointed by their work (inattentive to cuticles, polish a mess, etc). Not Mary! You do have to climb up a couple of steps to get onto the recliner, but they help you and it was really comfortable. $75 for pedicures with regular or gel polish. If you have gel it is extra to remove. We got regular polish. I chose this place because I can't handle nail salon fumes and they have Zoya products here. One of the polishes from another brand there definitely had a super strong smell and gave me a bit of a headache. However, we had the room to ourselves which was nice and they had air purifiers going. The massage was gentle and wish it were a bit stronger, but other than that Lucia and Crystal took great care of us and we did feel like we had a spa experience. They offered us a second set of neck wraps mid service which was wonderful. I would love to come back and would definitely recommend Lucia and Crystal.
