I went here yesterday for a pedicure and a full set. I walked in and I politely asked the girl for someone that gives a good and strong foot massage with the pedicure. I know there is always one girl who is stronger-I think her name is Tennie. I'm not sure why they didn't give me her but instead I was told that only professionals give strong massages. I looked confused and said I'm just looking for someone that gives a good foot massage I don't mind paying for a upgraded pedicure. The she tells me to go sit down while the water heats up. She brings over a basket of colors and says that maybe its better someone else do my feet just so there aren't any problems. She walks away and starts laughing. I was shocked and felt awkward. Another girl came and did my feet. She was nice and did a good job so I tipped her well. Then I went over to another table to do my nails. I showed the woman on my phone 2 different photos with nail designs. She said that's fine but that it wouldn't look exactly like the picture and I said that's fine it doesn't have to match exactly. I told her I wanted almond shaped and then noticed after her filing them they looked funny and rather pointy, like witch nails so I asked her to please make them more almond shape. She filed them down a little but they still looked pointy but I didn't say anything. After she finished shaping my nails she brought some nail polish over and reminded me that she couldn't do the exact design and again I said fine. I said why don't we do one nail and see how it looks. The design I asked for wasn't complicated, it had a few swirly lines with a mauve matte look. Then she says I don't have enough time to do one nail and I said ok well how is it going to look? She says I'm no good with designs, Tennie or the other girl are better. Maybe you should wait for them. I had already been there for 2 hours and didn't want to wait any longer. Why didn't she just say she couldn't do it from the beginning so that I could have simply went somewhere else?? I'm never going here again. I also want to add that the foot stool where you place your feet on was super hard and very uncomfortable. it used to be a nice black soft cushion and now it white and cement like. These girls talk to you and then start talking crap about you in their language and laugh about it. If you want a relaxing foot massage it's best to go somewhere else unless you want to hear them talking in their language the entire time. No peace and quiet, like literally they wouldn't stop talking and telling stories and laughing the whole time. So they never finished my nails and I will go to another place tomorrow to get them painted. read more

I will NEVER come here again. I came here to get my nails done on a Friday in total including tip I paid 70.00. I got a pedicure and a no chip manicure. I choose a pale pink color for my hands. On Monday when while at work I was taking a closer look at my.nails and noticed that my top coat had darkened which made my nails look dirty. I had done nothing different in my everyday routine. I called the technician to tell him and he blamed me and said my foundation will change my nail color and dirty the color. I proceed to tell him that I don't use my nails to apply my makeup and i would like him to fix my nails. I came in later that day to fix it and he told me that it the polish or that I must of gotten new jeans. When I told him that it I didn't have new jeans he told me it was my purse that made my nails dark. I told him I wanted to change the color because I didn't want to deal with my color doing the same thing. The manger then told me that I she would help. When I sat in her chair she first told me she would charge me 10 to fix my color. I told her no I don't want the same color because I don't want to have the same problem. She then told for the new color it would be 25. When I said no I'm not paying for that she said fine I'll charge you 20. Finally I asked for the color to be removed. When the service is great I don't mind paying for it. I have paid more in the past for great service. This service was SHIT. read more

Don't even bother...I was a regular over 7 years and the service has gotten worse so I no longer spend my money there. The supplies they use are cheap and nails break and chip easily and then they blame it on you! Their also very discriminatory towards Hispanic people and I know a couple people who no longer go because of that. If you call to make an appointment they pretend like they can't understand you EVEN THOUGH THEY DON'T SPEAK CLEAR ENGLISH and they hang up! A couple times my mother was told she didnt have an appointment even though we called to confirm. My nail tech was TENI and towards the end I was waiting over 35mins or MORE even though I had an appointment! They over charge for everything and everytime I would get over charged $3, $4 more. Yeah, yeah. They give good nails here. My mani/pedi is legit impeccable. The salon is clean and the staff is SUPER nice. But the real winner? EYELASH EXTENSIONS. $25. Admittedly, I tend to be anti-extension. Especially of the hair variety because either the girl doesn't need them because their hair is already thick and luxurious or they're so noticeable because the girl's hair is thin, short and scraggly. It just seems so unnecessary. However, I was intrigued by the idea of eyelash extensions. And the lure of long, lux lashes without mascara was... interesting. So I decided to indulge. FUNGAL INFECTION ALERT!!! Chose Nails Alert for my daughter's mani-pedi for prom as it is conveniently located in my neighborhood and we had been there once before. Our nail tech was courteous, friendly and was helpful in making suggestions. She did a great job of painting embellishments in silver over the base color to compliment the beaded/gem-stoned bodice of the gown. Unfortunately, 3 weeks later, my daughter started complaining of intense pain on her big toe when wearing shoes. Upon removing the polish, we discovered that she had developed a fungal infection and every nail was affected. Her fingernails were fine, but a mani would require soaking in a different bowl. As fungal infections are tenacious and can be extremely difficult to eradicate, we won't be returning to this salon. read more

Decided at the last minute that I wanted eyelash extensions. Nails Alert! came up on Yelp with great reviews so I called and they fit me in right away. They have a few options for extensions: cluster lashes (which are on special right now for only $25), or individual single or double lash extensions ($120 for full set). I went for the full set of long double lashes. It took about an hour and they look SO glamorous. Everyone in the salon was super friendly and I got a surprise first-time-customer discount. I got burned while getting my brows waxed. It was a very young girl doing them, I had never seen her before. I told the young lady how she burned off my skin but she didn't respond. I'm not sure that she understood what I was saying. They also assigned her to do my nails. And I politely told the eldest lady if I can wait for someone else. At this point I wasn't comfortable having this person doing anything else on me. I believe it bothered the the lady in charge. So when I return on a different day the lady spoke in her language and everyone that worked in the shop looked up at me. It was not cool. I was a loyal customer. If I'm not feeling comfortable I don't think I should feel obligated to do anything especially if I'm paying for it . Never going there again! read more

Nails Alert is a decent place to get your nails given there are no good nail salons in the area. It is a clean salon with a wide variety of polishes to choose from. The quality is hit or miss... some of the nail technicians do great work while others do not. Besides the inconsistent quality, my other complaint is that I always feel pressured to get a no-chip mani and/or pedi when I come in for just a regular mani, which gets a little annoying. I still love my nail salon in Wicker Park (Tres Bien), but when I am unable to get there and need something close to home this is by far the best spot in the area. read more

BEWARE! THEY ARE NOT PROPERLY AUTOCLAVING TOOLS THAT COULD BE CARRYING BLOOD BORNE DISEASES! They have an autoclave here but use it for decoration and storage. On my two visits here I observed some really scary "sanitation" practices that are putting their customers health at risk! Those little autoclave packs dont cost very much $, but yet you see them just being kept open and reused over and over for holding the tools which means they have not been "cooked" and sterilized. The packs should be sealed on both ends and a black line should appear on the outside signaling that the autoclave reached correct temperature. They aren't actually sterilizing the tools (which are exposed to the publics blood, pus, fungus, bacteria, not to mention blood born viruses such as Hepatitis and HIV!) I used to sterilize surgical instruments for a living so I am lucky to have caught this blatant disregard for sanitation read more

I decided to go here after several unpleasant trips to other nail salons. Lisa did my pedicure, I have never had one before so I asked her to guide me through it. She didn't have a problem explaining anything to me! As other places, where they'll look at me like I'm dumb whenever I ask for a new service. She talked to me while she did the pedicure which was nice because it wasn't weird asking her anything. She wasn't rude to walk away and leave me there at any time. I then asked if she could do my daughters nails and she gladly accepted. I got a simple hot pink on my toe nails but I really like it for my first time. I used to pay $30 at my old salon for no chip nails. my nail lady left so I was in search for a new spot. I chose this place after reading all the great reviews. I called and was informed no chip nails cost $40. Not a big difference so I decided to give it a try. Plus it was July 4th so it was probably the only place that was open. The place is nothing special. But I was overall happy with my manicure. I also got a pedi and my eyebrows done. I liked that the place looks clean. I think they also have an instrument sterilizer, which is a plus. But I'm unsure if they actually use it. They also have fancy pedicure chairs. Fast forward to today. This is my second visit to alert nails, exactly a week and my no chip nails have not held up. Not only are they chipping but they are turning a different color. So I come back for a fix. The lady was nice about it, apologized even. But here's where my problem lies, she simply painted over the chips and I was on my way. That doesn't work for me. I paid $40 for this and my nails look like crap. I also found out that if you come for a mani and pedi, but have no chip on your nails you have to pay $5 to remove the no chip. I've never heard of this. I mean I can understand charging for no chip removal if that's the only service you're getting. So my search for a no chip nail salon continues. read more

I would absolutely love to give a 5 star review considering these have to be the best massage chairs I've ever sat in.. But once I returned home I realized that my toes were kind of sloppily done. I pass this place all the time and finally decided to stop in on a Sunday (bonus points for being open on Sunday) and the chair was heavenly.. Leg massage was on point.. The place was clean, staff was friendly.. Everything was great but when I actually took the time to look at my pedicure it could've been painted with more precision. Came on Wednesday to get my no chip manicure, it's Saturday and almost all my nails are chipping. Went in so they can fix my nails but apparently doing a poor job on someone's nails isn't a priority. I was told to come back at 7:30pm mind you it's 2:25pm right now. I came during the week so I'd be ready for the weekend. I'm completely disappointed with this salon and this isn't the first time they've done a poor job. A few weeks ago the same thing happened. I use to come here regularly a couple years ago, now I remember why I stopped. Had my nails done by the First Lady on the right hand row. She's always the one answering the phone.
