went to Nails 2000 recently for a walk-in gel manicure- I was in a rush so didn't have time to book an appointment at my usual salon and thought Nails 2000 would be a good replacement as i used to go there years ago and never had an issue. first of all, just walking in you can see that it is NOT a clean salon. the files and buffers they used were clearly used on multiple clients before me, the folder holding the nail colors are covered in stains, and the station i was seated at literally had nail clippings on the table... second of all, the woman i saw (not sure her name, but I was at station #8) was incredibly rude the entire time. yanking my hands, making rude comments on the appearance of my skin due to my hands being dry, and laughing at me when i asked her to make the corners of my nails rounder. not only was it a miserable experience just sitting there to get my nails done, but when they were finally done, my nails looked AWFUL. gel all over my skin around my nails and uneven nails. when i told the manager, she was very apologetic which i appreciated, and gave me a $10 discount and an apology. i originally left and was going to just move on, but after more inspection of my nails, they were horrific and i went back to get them fixed. the managers were again, very nice and apologetic, and sat me with a new manicurist within a few minutes to fix my nails, however, as i was waiting for the new woman to come seat me, the original woman came up to me and confronted me saying "my boss told me you complained about me". very inappropriate in my opinion and the manager watched it happen and did not say anything. while i am happier with the second manicure i received, it was uncomfortable to have the second woman the whole time telling me that it's "normal to get gel on the skin". i understand if that is the case when applying gel, but I do not think it is normal to have a client walk out with all of that gel on their fingers. i have been getting my nails done routinely for 10 years and have never had that happen. very messy looking. i appreciate management, so that is why it is 2 stars instead of 1, but i will definitely never be back. read more

My wife has been going here for years. 8/10 her nails look great. Once in a while they are filed crooked or the polish is clumpy. Their service on the other hand is horrible. This was the 4th time she made an appointment and when she got there, they looked at her like she was lost. Once again they did not have her appt in the book. Past excuses have been the girl forgot to write it in the book. How? It's her only job...take appointments. So this time, my wife texted the girl directly and she texted back to confirm. My wife gets there and no appointment in the book. The girl asks her to come back another time because every high school has prom this week. Nope. Nails turned out absolutely horrible! I recently got a set a acrylics and they are terrible. The nails are completely uneven and crooked. The colors and shape are completely different then I asked for. She got a ton of glue under my nails and just left it. At one point my fingers got stuck together because she got glue everywhere. I love Nails 2000 in East Hanover! AMY, who I know her from a previous salon in Chatham, is absolutely the BEST! She is just incredible. She listens to what I need and creates a masterpiece everytime. I usually get a french manicure and she never disappoints. I get so many compliments on my nails, and especially love that they last for weeks. I have never, ever had as much as a chip. Tweety the owner, is very friendly and always welcomes everyone with a warm "hello!" At Christmas time she gave out cute little half socks to wear after a pedi. I thought that was so sweet. I have been a customer since 2015, i have still get my nails done here and have been helped by Kelly, Amy, and Lynn. They all understand the style and shape i look for, although i only get a simple acrylic set with one color, I am very picky about the shape of my nail. They understand and are very kind to help achieve the shape i feel fits my hand. All tools are kept clean and the pedicures are like a mini spa for your feet. if you work long hours on your feet like me, it is definitely worth it when you need a pick me up. They know me after 5 years of being a consistent customer and the staff always gives me a warm welcome. I have been coming here for years, have had a variety of services (gel nails, pedi, wax), have never experienced the dreaded salon upsell, have found that they run on time for scheduled appointments (unlike so many other local nail spots), the places is always clean and nice looking. I generally use the owner, Tweety, for my nails, and Nina for pedi, but I like many of the other ladies as well, especially Jackie. Prices are competitive and parking is easy and free. Worst pedicure I've ever gotten. From beginning to end, only took her 20 minutes. Got callus remover and she did not even wrap my heels. She did not soak my feet at all, and I got no massage at all. I think this might have been the WORST gel manicure I have ever gotten. The technician took her time (which was nice), but the final product didn't look like it took any time at all. The polish pooled in my nail beds and there was polish on my skin. I pointed this out to her and she said she would "fix" it. She tried to file it down, which was unsuccessful and she did nothing further to fix it or make the situation better. My nails didn't look like I had them professionally done at all. Can not organize appointments. I had an appointment, and I was told to so sit in a pedicure chair - so it started off well- but another customer told them that she was saving my chair, and she had an appointment. I explained I also had an appointment as well (same time) so that should have been it. I was a bit surprised when the staff asked me to move (there were no other chairs). I did not say a word because I am not one to argue. BUT I took their advice and wisely moved out the door- very disappointing. I had come here several times- the manicures were ok. I'm sorry but there's a reason why I stopped coming to this salon. My regular place was booked so I had no choice. First of all let me say Myra does an excellent pedicure and Jackie does great nails, but the owner is always messing up appointments telling you to just come in and when u ask for a specific person she says yes then u get there and the person isn't ready for another 20 minutes. It's rude and it's consistent. Many of the other nail techs rush your pedicure. Today I had to use someone else because I only had a certain amount of time to be here, I'm sorry but 30 min start to finish including polish is not enough time. My regular place at least the girl I use is 45 minutes, and they're almost always on time and when I make an appointment it's right and with the right person. This place is clean the girls are nice but the management is awful. read more

I will not return to this nail salon. Stopped in for a mani ($12) in the middle of running errands one day. Customer service left something to be desired but I didn't really expect anything else...it was the lack of cleanliness that was totally unacceptable. As soon as I walked in, I noticed a box of gross-looking snacks (bags of chips that seemed half-eaten, etc.) sitting on the floor right next to the door with a rudely-worded hand-written note about how you MUST pay for snacks and how much money they lost last month ($40) from people not paying for snacks. That should have been my first indication that this place was not for me. Instead of walking out the door at that point, I sat down for my manicure and noticed the manicurist was trimming her own cuticles with the same trimmer she was presumably going to use on me. When I sat down, she stopped trimming her cuticles and put the trimmer back into her box of tools. I asked her if she had a clean set of tools and she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about. I called her out further and told her that I saw her trimming her own cuticles and she finally said she'd use a different set of tools on me. I asked her if *that* set was clean and she just kind of shrugged. Again, I should have walked out. Other gross-out factors were: she did my manicure right on the mani table instead of putting down a towel (or even paper towel!!!) and it felt really gritty, the manicurist actually had a toenail clipping lodged in her bangs, the person who painted my nails (who was different from the person who cut my nails) had nail polish smudged all over her face, and I noticed that there were nail clippings all over the floor. Everything there, from the furniture to the tools and dryers, just seemed dirty. My nails turned out okay in the end (though I had to constantly ask her to file my nails better- she almost left them crooked). I just hope I escaped this salon with my health intact! I've been going to this place for years. Recently it has been getting annoying, getting rushed to get out of there not having time to get something else done like my eyebrows or pedicure. Last time I went there I wanted a design and was told it couldn't get done since there was another customer waiting behind me so I had to just pick a random color. I went in today and had the WORST experience of my life. I had acrylic gel on and the technician broke my nail after being seated for 5minutes. It started to bleed and hurt really bad. I didn't even know how to react. She pretended it was broken already and reassured her my nail was not like that prior to getting to the salon. I told her to get rid of everything. She insisted on doing something to my nails and I refused. All I kept thinking about was getting out of there. I was so upset. I will never go back again! On top of that I was charged $15 plus tip for pretty much nothing and getting my nail cut in half. Hopefully it doesn't get infected. Now i have to wait at least a month for it to heal and get them done again. Of course at another salon. read more

FIRST OFF IM SO HAPPY THIS PLACE TOOK LAST MINUTE WALK INS! I decided last minute at the last possible second that I really wanted my nails done before I left for vacation and the second I got there I was immediately put into a chair. I had the pleasure of having Amy do my nails and I was extremely happy with the service. 1. my nails were in DESPERATE need of a manicure my cuticles were so grown over my nails and they were shot from me biting. 2. I'm SO happy they offered the metallic nail coating cause I was dying to get it done for some time. 3. She perfected the shape so nicely and some how took her time but got it all done in a timely matter. I'm DEFINITELY going to be coming back to see her again! Totally disappointed in the service here. They took advantage of 6 teenage girls who came in for gel manicures. They rushed them thru, didn't push back their cuticles, there is gel left on their fingers, the gel didn't cover the whole nail and they barely filed their nails. They charge the same amount as adults but clearly give younger girls the rush treatment because they know they probably won't advocate for themselves. This place should be shut down! This is by far the worst nail place I have been to. I went in for a gel manicure, and it looked as though I painted my nails myself. The polish pooled at the bottom of my cuticles and looked messy. It also chipped on 2 different nails within 4 hours of getting them done. The worst part is when I had to pay. The manicure should have costed me $25, which I planned to pay with card and tip in cash. Yet, when the lady saw I was paying with card, she added a $5 tip to my card without my knowledge, also accepted my cash tip without mentioning the additional value she already charged me. I noticed this on my credit card statement once I got home, and as a result will never be returning to this untrustworthy place again. read more
