By far the best nail salon in Royal Oak. I keep trying other places and only end up questioning why. They are a bit more expensive but, it doesn't matter which tech you get, they will take their time and do a fantastic job. Great pedicures for a fairly reasonable price - you pay for what you get when it comes to nail care! Extremely clean and beautiful atmosphere. It has a great selection of polishes (they have Essie- my favorite brand!) as well as comfortable chairs. I love a good pedicure in an environment that I feel pampered in - it's important to me that the nails come out looking great but that I also enjoy the experience. Very impressed with my first visit and after a string of lackluster gel manicures at other salons I can't wait to try their gel in a week or two! The gel is $40 but you can get $5 off if you combine with a pedicure which is a pretty good deal. The decor of the salon is really inviting and the overall ambiance is nice but the quality of their work is substandard. There was no attention to detail during the pedicure and there was very little attention to "rough" spots on the soles of my feet...which is kind of the point. One of the nail techs did a horrible job with cutting the cuticles on my nails and after I brought it to her attention she continued to put alcohol on the cuts over and over again . Additionally, she filed each of my nails into a different shape..some are rounded, some are square..she didn't ask my preference and there was no uniformity. They also had a limited number of polishes to match their shellac collection. The price was astronomical seeing as though the manicure and pedicure itself was no match for the quality of work I have seen at other salons. $74 for a mani/pedi! Staff are all friendly. The nails shop is cozy and super clean. They always offer you hot tea or water. Shellac always looks nice and last so long. Even when it grows out, it still looks in shape and great. They also don't use any primer or bond-aid prior putting shellac polish on your nails which is not going to ruin your nails when you take the shellac off. Nicest nails shop in Royal Oak area so far. Have been going here for years until my last experience a few days ago. I inquired as to why the shellac was starting to peel after only a few days. I didn't expect them to redo my nails but wondered if I was perhaps not giving my nails enough of a break from time to time. Before I could even finish my sentence, the tech who had done my nails just before shouted across the room that it had been 2 weeks. I calmly said excuse me, it has been only a week and I don't expect anything in return I am just wondering what their policy is on fixing chips or peeling nails within days of getting it done. Granted I spent 90+ dollars days before. Basically she called me a liar. I decided to just have the shellac removed so while doing so, the original tech again came over slapped her name on the table and told me I could call the owner. Wish I could recall her name but lost the paper. Very disappointed as this was my go to place but after many years I will not be returning nor will I again recommend this place. Immediately after I left I went to royal nails. Prices are outrageous and now they slap on a 3.50 surcharge if you don't pay cash. Horrible customer service. I had my nails done two days ago, and theyre aleeway brown on the tips. One, the polish was old or two, the over cured the polish. sofia the tech was very rude and told me that she was not going to redo. I had to knock a few stars off here for a couple reasons. I had a gift card for a shellac mani, but had a dip mani on I needed removed first. They charged $10 for the removal, and said it's normally $5 for shellac removal. I've never seen a place charge for removal if you're getting a service after. I also felt the technician was rude about the fact that I had a dip previously and told me the reason they don't do it there is because "it's not organic" which is confusing because neither is shellac or any OPI/Essie products. The "organic" advertising of this salon is misleading as none of the products used are. However, they do a good job and the salon is very clean and well kept. I usually don't leave a bad review to any business. If I don't like their service on the first time I just don't go back. I have been to this place many times. My first impression on this place was great. I love the interior design and how clean they are, and I'd always had a good service. Until last month, I had this one lady doing the shellac medi. She is one of the worst. She kept talking to her friend who sat next to her (in her native language) and didn't even pay attention when polishing my nail. This place is so cute on the inside and everyone was super friendly. I got fast service with no wait. But I expected a better pedicure for the price. Only because of the process before the actual painting.... cold water, weak scrubbing, no actual massage, etc. I understand them wanting to be gentle but the fact I left with my feet still feeling stiff is no good. How hard you want your feet scrubbed I guess is personal preference though. The polish I choose was "7$ extra because it lasts longer...." my lady told me this right before she started painting. I am not sure why there are so many differing reviews of this place. It could possibly be the customers individual technician experiences, as a whole though I am a fan of this salon. Always make an appointment during peak hours though. I think the price is on the higher side, but it is organic and a very clean nail salon. They fare well when its busy and are efficient. After years of passing by, I finally went it. Every part of my experience was AMAZING. Not your typical nail salon. The nail techs made an effort to have a conversation with you, the facility and tools were very clean, and the pedicure room was beautiful. All of the pedicure chairs were set up high on stone tiled benches. They take their time with the Felix pedicures and don't cheap out on time or quality. The decor and atmosphere was far from your typical Royal Oak nail salon. I've been to many nail salons in the area, and Nails 07 is by far the cleanest, friendliest and best one around the Royal Oak area. I'm very picky and Lucy went above and beyond my expectations. She used to do my nails, and my Moms nails at my Day Nail Spa in Troy years ago. I was so happy to see her again. I will be booking another appointment soon, and telling all my friends!! Went in for the signature pedicure which is supposed to be at least 35 min long. I know this because plastered on every tv screen is the promise that if the signature pedi is less than 35 min, you can email the manager and your next one will be free. I have never ever complained before when they finished at 25-30 minutes despite the results being inconsistent at best.....but the girl who did mine 3 days ago finished in 15 minutes!!! My nails were smudged even before leaving but I didnt notice it until I left the lighting. I emailed and called and did not receive a response so I called again. I was asked why I did not call on the day if service, I explained that I did in fact call and ask for the email to send the picture so they would know exactly what the nails looked like. The pedicure didnt even make my feet soft and they arent rough to begin with. On top of that, the most discusting thing I saw was 4 different nail techs spraying mister bubbles in the foot soak sinks and immediately spraying it away, which nowhere near qualifies as disinfectant. Not even a hospital grade cleaner can do it that fast, and it is not at all that potent. Gross! read more

I have actually been to Nails 07 a total of 5 or 6 times over the last year and after two bad experiences in a row I won't be coming back. The interior of the salon is very nice, it's clean and well kept and definitely more upscale than most nail shops. They offer you water and tea but that still doesn't make up for the fact that the are about 35% more expensive than most other nail salons in the area. A couple of times I have gone the have done an ok job but nothing to rant and rave about. I went this last weekend and the tech who did my nails was sloooooooow. I thought he was nice enough until he got really shady when it came time to pay. The bill was $40 for a shellac only. $40 to get my nails painted and filed is outrageous! I then noticed that you couldn't pay your tip on your credit card though they conveniently (sarcasm) have an ATM in the salon for you to take out cash (which I did). I paid him with 3 $20 bills which I gave him one by one. He then said "thanks- see you soon" and started to walk off with a 50% tip. No sir! No nail painting that will last a week and half at best is worth $60. I then asked for change and he gave the $20 back to me in two $10 bills. Again- I am a generous tipper but to assume you get a 25% tip is outrageous. I let him keep the $10 and left mainly because I didn't want to be in the salon any longer than the hour I had already been there. This was the best manicure/pedicure I've ever had. It was easy to set up an appointment, there is tons of parking(if you get there early enough), and everyone was nice and polite. Mia was extraordinarily thorough, she did not miss a single piece of cuticle gone astray. They offer a wide variety of Essie and Opi colors, accompanied by all natural, non animal tested products and non acetone remover, so this place doesn't make you pass out. The ambiance is breathtaking. Chandeliers, wide, white pedicure chairs, modern sound system from Bose, a manicure bar that could only exist in heaven....I could go on for hours. I paid $53 for my mani/pedi, but purchased a $35 gift card for the same services for next time...definitely a great deal. And before I checked out, she had me pay, put on my coat, put my shoes in a bag, and get my keys out just so I wouldn't scuff my nails. No place has ever done that before. I'm a loyal customer to Nails 07. I ONLY go to this salon for pedicures because they are the best (and so is my nail tech who I specifically request). However, on my birthday weekend, I was charged an extra $105 from what was suppose to be one single pedicure transaction. The machine was apparently out of receipt paper so the card was continuously swiped because it was stated there was no indicator of a sale. Although I was frustrated by the mistake, my expectation was for management to rectify the situation. So I waited 25 additional minutes after my service for the owners to arrive. My nail tech eventually came over with three voided transaction receipts of course apologizing for the error. My issue is the owner or manager never approached me to offer an apology or compensation for the inconvenience. Instead, on my way out of the salon, I had to go over and ask to speak with her. She stated she was unable to return my funds in cash (despite customers using cash as payment)and said my bank should have only held the funds making the void immediate. I left the salon. I called back to speak with the owners but they had already left. The woman who was put on the phone refused to give me the names of the owner and manager after being directly asked. I expressed my sympathy that it was a mistake but explained I expected more from the manager and owner. She said that this has happened before, eventually replied to my concern with "if that's what you want to do" and still offered no further accommodation. I was never disrespectful nor did I cause any disruption. I only wanted a display of care for a consistent customer and a mistake that quite honestly was a bit reckless. The money was taken immediately and it should have been returned immediately. At the very least, a certificate for future services. Prior to this event, they overcharged me by adding a service I didn't have. I was also not compensated and waited a week for the return of funds. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend this salon as they seem to be concerned with counting money more than valuing clients. This was my first time visiting and I received a shellac manicure and a regular pedicure. Less than a week later one of my nails chipped (I have never had a shellac chip in that amount of time). I went back and talked to the owner but had to wait an hour to get one nail repainted. When the owner finally did repaint it he kept getting up and walking away and then coming back, which only prolonged the amount of time it took to redo my nail. My friend took me here for a mani/pedi as a surprise birthday present. I was super excited to try out a new nail salon. It was pretty cute inside, and looked clean. The employee who did my pedicure was friendly enough, but then they insisted I get my manicure at the same time in an uncomfortable position, and would talk over each other when instructing me to move or do something. A little overwhelming for what is supposed to be a relaxing experience, but not horrible. The employee who was doing the manicure seemed to be in charge there. She was being very difficult, hurt my finger badly when cutting down my cuticles, was trying to tell me what color I had to get on my nails, and wouldn't stop complaining about being there. Not to mention they were talking "office politics" in front of me part of the time. At one point the woman doing my pedi and the woman doing my mani argued over who could leave first. Needless to say, I did not feel welcome there, and they made it seem like I was inconveniencing them even though I was the customer and was there during their normal business hours and they still weren't closing for another 20 minutes after they finished my mani/pedi (my friend had scheduled appointments ahead of time, so it's not like it was a last minute walk-in). Toward the end of the surprise pedi I had to have my friend to go grab my car (and the flip flops I had in it) because he didn't realize how long it takes a pedi to dry and didn't mention I'd need to bring those as part of the surprise. One of the employees made a comment toward him that he's a "horrible planner". The employees saw me still sitting there waiting while they were closing up and didn't say a word to me - didn't ask me to leave or move outside. They just shut the lights off on me all the sudden and told each other to lock up. I quickly shuffled out the door to wait out front and they still didn't acknowledge me. The manicure only lasted about 24 hours before starting to chip/flake off. Pedicure is still intact for the most part (5 days later). I struggled on doing a rating for this place. When I walked in, I was greeted but they did not give me any guidance on what was going on. The girl at the desk pointed towards and table of unorganized polish . I then had to find someone to ask where do I go next. I also noticed others confused. Nevertheless, the place was noticeably clean and Jenny did an amazing pedicure. The pedicure was average price but the charge for shellac was completely unreasonable at $17. Gel polish was applied too thick and was cured dripping down the nail. Pedicure was mediocre. Also, I have NO idea why this place is calling itself an "organic" nail salon. Not a fan. I got a regular manicure which took all of 15 minutes. I like a speedy manicure but it felt rushed. There is no place to sit to dry your nails and they don't have dryers (maybe part of their "organic" shtick), so I just awkwardly sat in my chair for 10 minutes while my nails dried. I have nail polish all around my nails and the general "paint job" was not nearly as precise as I would have liked (there is polish running into my cuticles). They have signs posted outside that say "Best of the best nails in Detroit" according to Allure magazine .....
